Brendan Rodgers Signs Two-Year Minor-League Deal with Red Sox

Brendan Rodgers got released from his minor league deal with the Red Sox earlier this week,

but turns out it was just some paperwork shuffle.

The former goal-gloved second baseman from the Rockies signed right back on Friday, this

time locking in a fresh two-year minor league contract.

That move comes after shoulder surgery, sideline him for most, if not all, of this season.

He tore his labrum diving for a grounder on February 25th during spring training, and

got it fixed up early March by top-doc Neil Elitresche, who also cleaned out some bone

chips.

Fans in the team were eyeing Rodgers as a backup for Roma Gonzales, who had his own shoulder

woes and surgery around the same time, but Gonzales looks set to return well before the

All-Star break, easing that pressure.

Now with the two-year pact, Rodgers gets a clean slate come spring training next year, even

if he misses every inning this season.
