The New York Met's are experimenting with third baseman Brett Beatty in the outfield to

find more ways to feature his strong hitting in the lineup.

Beatty has spent most of his pro career at third base, but the team sees value in his

bat and wants him contributing regularly.

Lately, Beatty has been taking reps in right field during practices and minor league games.

He's adapting well, drawing on experience from his AA days when he played there occasionally.

Beatty himself says the outfield is starting to feel normal, and he's enjoying the challenge.

Manager Carlos Mendoza is thrilled with his progress and emphasizes the need for flexibility

across positions.

Mendoza envisions Beatty as a true utility player, capable of handling third, second, first

base, and now the outfield.

The team has been up front with him about this role, and Beatty is fully on board, switching

from infield to outfield can be tough, due to the different reads on bad at balls, especially

in the corners.
