I'm here with my good pal JP Firehyzen. And we're coming at you here in the seventh inning with Miz just, I mean, having a talk with Murphy right now.

And if he's coming out of the game or not. So we'll keep you posted on that. We got a great show for you guys tonight. Me and JP are going to be taken over, given Kurt a day off. Nick, let's get right into it, man. I mean, go ahead and talk about it, man. Yeah, I mean, we just got to get Miz to dial it in in the first inning. I think it was just a tough kind of atmosphere for him tonight. I felt like he was pretty fired up for this start against the Cubs at home. Kind of playoff atmosphere, even though it shouldn't be. It's not going to be even close to what the playoffs are going to feel like just because it seems like the brewers have almost locked up this division. Even though it's still possible that Cubs could come back. It's eight games up right now and it's looking good for the crew. And misses look good tonight since the first inning. So no misery in the rest of the game. Obviously, I think he actually did come out here. So Corey and I are watching the game live and talking about this with you guys.

So if the rest of the game, if we blurb in and be like, oh, this happened, that's because we're in the seventh inning. And we're watching it live. But so far, so good. Miss, uh, miss is calm down and he's looking good. He was attacking the zone later on and nine punchouts tonight. So all in all after that first inning, kind of shook the nerves. Which is good to see because I feel like every great starter in this league right after the first inning. If you don't get him out of the game, if you don't really chase him. Like as they say, they lock it in and they also, and they find their way into the sixth, seventh inning. You're like, we had him in the first inning in 30 some pitches. And how did he, you know, how did he get through seven innings or six and two thirds? It was good for for Miss to do that tonight. I think he got through six and a third. So no, that was a great, great comeback for him after the first inning. So good to see. It was. And he didn't, I mean, there wasn't a lot of like first pitch out,

first pitch out, either. I mean, PCI think had one or two, but other than that, I mean, dude, it was, it was in that back. So he started to get ahead right there after that first inning. He was attacking hitters, staying ahead, getting ahead. So, I mean, yeah, honestly, man, that was great to see him come back, come back and get through that first inning. And I mean, look, the open other zero right there. Dude, that was, that was impressive two walks on the night. So, yeah, dude, I, I mean, we've said all we need to say about Miss, right? I mean, it's, he's got probably two, maybe three starts left. And the guy's dialed in. He still, you know, has some moments where he's kind of losing the zone a little bit. But I mean, when you're throwing 102, right, it, it seems like it'd be pretty, pretty easy to do. But, um, yeah, I mean, and he's a, he's a big guy. So like little, little, you know, just off here, off there, like we've said with the, the mound placement, the foot placement, like he's, he's a, he's got some times where that can bother him because he's getting out to a different spot where other people

don't win and stuff like that. But I mean, if the mound isn't ready for a plough baseball, then, then, yeah, we got bigger, we got bigger issues. So, uh, no, it was good to see him come back and, and throw that tonight and, and, and, you know, get through this, this game and, um, you know, just get that plough atmosphere, that plough field going above one month before that, before they're here. So, uh, no, that was, that was really good to see. I thought, um, now we got Chad in the game. And he just pumped 97 for a, a backwards K. I thought, cancer's about to get tossed right there. But, man, this is, yeah, it's good to see for the boys. Obviously, look, it's, it's a playoff atmosphere right now. And it's a, what, Tuesday night. So, um, I ain't worried about him, man. But, you know, on that too, obviously we're facing the cubs. How big was it that we took the series last night? I mean, obviously I know that we're, you know, it ain't over till it's over, but good chance we're going to be on top of the division, going into it first or second team in the

NL. Um, how big was it to also lock it up last night? No, that's huge. Like, yeah, I mean, anytime that you can kind of lock up your division, not only lock up your division, but lock up this rivalry that that it brings. It's, it's huge. And I mean, these are, these are teams we're going to see in the playoffs, right? We, we get the Dodgers locked up and, um, you know, we needed that, we needed to kind of have that series win against those guys. So that just in case a tiebreaker comes to it, um, because I think we have two games on them right now where we could be the number one seed. And I mean, that's where you want to be, right? You want to get that first first round by and give your guys kind of a rest and, um, that, that just a little bit of a break. So, um, whatever they can do, but yeah, it's huge to lock up the I-94 series. And it's always great and being from Wisconsin, being a Wisconsin fan and, uh, rooting against the, rooting against the Chicago team. So this is, this is even better for me. So, um, I like, I like to see it and, um, I, I mean, I think I have some interviews back in the day where I even said I grew up and I didn't like the cup.

So this is great. Happy, happy for me. It's always, it's always good to see. And, um, I mean, even, even some games where we had kind of some, uh, some, you know, not so brew-like games where we played, you know, not the best baseball. And we still came out and won some games. I mean, that game last night, um, man, boy, boy was throwing a heck of a game. And, you know, a council maybe over thought that a little bit too much, which was kind of good to see as well. I love counts, but, you know, when you're on the other side, you can't, can't, uh, can't root for the other team. So, um, the fact that, you know, it kind of worked out for us. And then we got to see McGill come in and slam the door shut. I mean, Laura make one heck of a play last night. Yeah, I mean, who knows? Is that right? Then, then PCA the next, next day, be hit at home or something. Yeah, exactly. Like, I mean, that's, if you think about it for a game-saving aspect of it, I mean, that's right where it is, right? You're, you're right in that positioning of, of you got to save the game. If you don't make that catch, you know, it's a homer.

So, um, now, awesome to see that defense and awesome to lock up the series. And, you know, we got this one and, and uh, one more against them, right? So, yep, let's, uh, let's win this one tonight. And hopefully, and when, uh, when tomorrow, too, we got a great game going on right now, too. Um, but man, yeah, last night, dude, I, I can't talk, I can't talk anything, but good things about last night, man. That was, that was great for the boys. Good fighting right there. And I mean, honestly, dude, I, I thought that, you know, gasser through a heck of a game. Um, and, I mean, the bullpen coming in, obviously, Patrick coming in. And then Patrick coming in again, again, tonight for back to back night. So, this is, look, it was a great game last night for the boys, and to, to lock that one up was huge too, especially in the walkie to lock up the, um, lock up the series like that. But man, this is, this is what you want to see, right? For the I-94 series, a game just like this, a game like last night where it's,

I mean, fight till the very end, man. No one's giving up. No one's letting down. So, um, this is our strong suit too. Like our, our pen, our pitching staff, right? Like that's, that's where we kind of win our ball games and our defense. So I feel like when we get, when we get into those late games, I just feel like we're in a good position. I don't know why it is with this team and, and the way we play, but, um, we get late in those games, those one run. I mean, I feel like we come back and we find a way to score run in the eighth or ninth inning so often. And I mean, obviously we're courteless tonight. So our statistician, the guy that is able to pull up everything when we need it, we're gonna have to work at work on that a little bit. But I really do think that we're, as a team, late in games like we were one of the best. That's why we win these, win these close ones. So, um, no, it's just a huge, huge season series. And, um, you know, we got, I think, 17 games left after this one tonight. So, um, just got to keep trying to, trying to win as many as possible.

And we're going for 90 tonight. If we can win, if we can win tonight's game, then we're, we're hitting 90 wins in a season. With 17 left, I think the boys are going to be chasing down that hundred. And I know that, uh, we're not going to change anything. We're not going to play anything different than we would just to get ready for the playoffs. Because that's what matters from here on out. But 100 games is a sweet season. Um, I got to be a part of one with Tampa. And that was just, I mean, it's, it's crazy how, how it just feels like you're celebrating after every single game because you never know, right? You never know. But no, hopefully, hopefully, uh, the guys can get this one tonight, get to 90. And then, uh, when 10 out of the next 17 and hit that 100 mark, hit the century mark. And it'd be really cool to see. So it's, but when in the 94 series, when in those big series against the guys in the NL, when playoffs come around to, to have that home field advantage and that, that won up if we have to get that, that seed, um, it's, it's, it's good. We're, we're in a really good spot, um, come October.

I agree, man. And I mean, yeah, dude, you said it through the defense, man. The defense is playing one heck of one heck with some baseball right now. Jio, obviously his offense has been taken off as well. But that guy's defense right now, man. It's impressive. Um, right here we got asked if we're coming into the game with first and second. But before we talk anymore about that, we're going to take our first break. Dehydration is real people. So our quince electrolyte stick packs. Like and subscribe. Come on, baby. Very nice. Now, let's see. Before we get into Ash, we come into the game.

Let's go ahead and talk about a move that was made. Sprote back up for Grant Anderson. I mean, look, I haven't seen Sprote just yet. Correct me if I'm wrong. He hasn't gotten into the game. Is that correct here, JP? Correct. Yeah, I know. He hasn't gotten into the game. Just came up actually. Anderson went on in the 15 day, which I mean, you know, could be just who knows? Who knows what moves these days? You never know. Could be a blow for him. Could be something serious. Haven't haven't heard completely on what the diagnosis is. If he's going to get MRIs or anything like that. But just, you know, one of those moves, it'd be nice to see Sprote get in some games. Here actually in September and kind of throw some innings and see what he's got out of the bullpen. Right? I think that's what we're, this is kind of almost a tryout for him. In my opinion, I think that like this is this is an opportunity to kind of show.

Because everyone knows he's got nasty stuff, right? Like we've seen it all year. Like he just has command issues and kind of gets himself into these tough situations and pitches him out self in the tough situations. But like I mean, as far as stuff wise, right? Like he's, he's just as stuffy as pretty much anybody as you can, as you can put out there, right? I mean, his, his heater breaking ball combo. I mean, everything's moving. He's got a power 97 up to 100. 100. I think we've seen 101 out of his arm this year. So I mean, he's just one of those guys like, you just really love to see him get hot and maybe earn a spot on this team as a, as a guy that they could bring in another pen. You know, those dire situation to throw multiple innings or coming into a game with a, with a bigger lead where you're like, all right, we got three innings to get. We're up five. Like don't give up any runs and see what you got type of thing. So, um, you know, hopefully all good for Anderson and just is just a blow for him.

But hopefully, hopefully for Sprote, this is a proving time and he can make something happen out of it. I mean, yeah, hopefully obviously wish nothing but the best for Anderson, but, um, look, this is, yeah, this is Sprote's time right now. Right? Whenever, obviously we see injuries like this. This is, this is your time to show show the team what you're made of. And, um, look, I think obviously we know we're getting closer in October. So now's the time to start locking in, right? The starting rotation, the bullpen. You're going to see who's going to be pitching where and we got what everyone's basically trying to almost try out except for Miz, except for McGill. Obviously you got what? Gasser, Harrison, um, May. Yeah, I mean, I mean, Miz and Hendo are one, too. I don't think there's even an argument right now, right? Like those, those are the two guys that are, are, are wanting to every series, no matter what, like those are the guys you want on the bump. But yeah, I mean, it is kind of a try out now for everybody to, to be the hot hand, right?

I mean, that's, that's who, that's who teams taken the playoffs is. Who is the hot hand? And, I mean, you've done for me lately, right? And, and you got to stay ready. Also, if you're one of the guys that they don't end up taking, right? So, um, no, yeah, this is, I think this is the time to have guys throw innings where we're going to see them in a role. Maybe that they might have in the past, right? Yeah, they're not, if they're not going to start in the playoffs, let's see some guys get some workout at the bullpen, see what they can do. No doubt, especially, I mean, not, not going to say that they're just going to start tanking games, because we're still going to stay on top. And I think, no, absolutely not. No, you got to, you got to keep everyone in their rotation. Yeah. And we, we get, we have three days, three days off in this next 17 game stretch. So, yeah, I think that, that helps a ton. You're going to be able to move, move guys around and maybe give a guy an extra day, rest with those off days, or maybe take a guy and move them up a day because those off days. So, um, I think that they'll be able to do whatever they're going to do to line up so that they

have isn't an endo going game one and game two of the playoffs. And that's going to be what they're going to do for this next month, right? They're, they're still trying to get that 100 games. I mean, anytime you can win 100 games, but I still think that Merff's going to have a good plan going forward to make sure that these guys wear and tear and are healthy and ready to go at 100% when, when October comes around. No doubt. Still keep getting them in there, but stay fresh at the same time. So, this is where we use that extra guy for September. You sprout up here being, you know, being in the bullpen, let him get some longer stretches. Like, kind of like Patrick was doing when he first got there. So, yeah, I like him. I think they're speaking of, speaking of long arms. I mean, not to talk about anything other than the brewers, but brewers minor league are Thomas Pinole and throwing a perfect game in the line. And in Nashville, crazy. Tommy was actually a teammate of mine back in low-way in Lake County with Cleveland.

Long time ago, yeah, yeah, 20, 2015, Thomas and I were teammates at one time. And so hats off to him, perfect game. I don't care any level in minor league base, but minor leagues, the big leagues. Nice ball period, man. Yeah, perfect games. Incredible. So, yeah, that just got to give him his flowers for that one. That was unbelievable. Pretty sweet to see him. Former teammate get that, have that perfect game. So, kind of a cool, cool thing for, and also brewers minor league right now as what he's at. So, hey, maybe we'll see Tommy come up here and throw some start. Well, when we need some innings at some point, time maybe to give the rest of the guys a blow to him. So, who knows? Maybe, maybe perfect game guy coming soon. Yeah, hell yeah. You heard it your first, man. We're going to take our final break here, fellas. And we'll be right back. Gratz football season is back and Fabletics knows all about it. They just paired with the number one wide receiver in the NFL,

Well, real quick, fellas. I apologize on this show. We are so glad that everyone's here. Fellas and ladies is what I meant to say. I apologize for that. Thank you for being here and sticking with us. Going into it, I mean, I know we've talked. We've talked about a lot of things that are going on with the brewers right now. Currently, what's to look ahead for? The game that's going on right now. We're still in the bottom of the seventh two outs for Cheerio up. But let's talk about what's on tap. What's coming up for these next 17 games? What do we have? You know, we mentioned that we got three days off out of these 17 games. Obviously, we're chasing that 100 mark 90 tonight, but chasing that 100 mark, you know, we got Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, and Baltimore and Philly at their place. And then St. Louis at home. I mean, let's see what Baltimore and Philly are both. They're both obviously the Philly's are in the hunt, but Baltimore. Yeah. Right? I mean, I feel like all these games are kind of a, they're going to be good baseball games,

even though I don't know about Pittsburgh and St. Louis. I think they're both kind of in the chance to get that wild card spot, but not really. They're in the hunt, but not really in the hunt type of thing, right? Yeah. But everybody is. I mean, yeah, I mean, with how many teams make the playoffs now, everybody's in the hunt for some while, some bit of it. But no, I mean, it's still their, their division on games. They'll be good baseball games, but I think the three days off in there is huge for everyone on the team and kind of go through the September and, and you know, get there, get their good rest and make sure everyone's fresh throughout the whole month. Don't be pushing anyone. But yeah, what's on tap as far as that? I mean, yeah, I think the O's, those are pretty decent teams. So that's our one, one American league team that we got the rest of the way. So otherwise, no, I mean, Cincinnati, we got to go and we got to beat them. We this past series against them was a was kind of a, was a blundered series in my opinion, but you can't win every series.

It's tough to do and it's a long season. So hopefully we come back and take this next one from them. But I mean, both of this to play in Cincinnati too. Yeah, true, true. Not true. No, the what's what's on tap for us is we need to figure out how to use our challenges in the right ways for the rest of the year. That's what we got going on. Of course, I mean, seriously speaking of speaking of which tonight, the game going on, I mean, not to call out people on challenges, but we got to we got to work on our situational challenges. Coming from a pitcher, yes, someone who never gets to do this because they don't, they don't allow it. They're right. It's only it's only hitters and catchers. So pitchers are pretty much ex-nate on that. I mean, they allow it or Tony's done it. Yeah, I mean, okay. So Tony gets to do it. Right. But if there's nobody on base and you're a hitter in the box and that pitches two feet outside, it better be two feet outside. Two feet outside.

Because I am sick of seeing challenges used with nobody on nobody on base, like one out and the ending. It's like, if you're a be goes the old like, you can't just win the game right now. That's not possible with this challenge. Like, there's going to be a situation later on in the game where that challenge is going to be more useful or dire. Like, and you don't want to get to the point where you're like, you can't challenge in the first six innings, but you can't challenge in the first six innings. Just let it go. Like, I'm sorry. We played the game before without challenges. So you can go for six innings without doing it. You know, so one one oh, what's the difference right there? Right. Yeah, I mean, yeah. No, no, no, I'm still. If it's a, if it's a, even a one two pitching, you happen to punch out on it, but it's like, you think it's a four inches outside. Like, if it's a strike, like, you just wasted it for no reason.

Like, that's, it's so, I mean, when it comes down to it, our challenges need to be more used better. I mean, I think that it's just like first six innings. It has to be like a guarantee. And if not, I don't know. I know you can't, you can't like, if I was going to do his reaction and he's going to happen to, you know, tap his head on I accident sometimes, but if we got a repeat, if we got a repeat effect, or we need like a kangaroo court find or something for that. I'm just really got one. I mean, it's got to be the most egregious challenges, right? Oh, man, Max fine, Max fine. Yeah, Max fine right there, dude. First inning. I mean, I will say, I mean, yeah, obviously when you look at experience, right, that's where it's a little different. Contreras and Vaughn both had one tonight where, yeah, one to pitch that ball. I know Contreras was inside, but I mean, dude, it was, it might have been point two inches off. But that's not the challenge. Didn't challenge.

He held it. He held his tongue. Vaughn did the same thing. Vaughn was above his own. He held his tongue. But yeah, when you're talking about Composure like that, I mean, not everyone's got that, right? They don't have the. And the thing too is like, if it's one of those ones that's this close, like, it shouldn't be challenged in the first inning or the first six innings. Like, if it's something, if it's like guaranteed this far off, then then we're talking, right? That's then it's like, okay, umpire, where are we at? Right? Come on. Yeah. I mean, we got to, we got to lock that and we can't, we can't, we can't be doing that. But like, if it's this close, like, that is such a minuscule amount. So, now, what's on tap is we need to figure out how to use the challenges. Yep. I mean, we're here in the eighth inning. We're out of challenges because still have both challenges for mating. Yeah. I mean, situationally, right now, we're, we're, even though it's a one run game, we're behind because we don't have our challenges. Which is crazy to think about in the game of baseball, right?

I mean, in football, it was two challenges from here for forever. And now we got two challenges in baseball. And yeah, I mean, we can replay challenge. So it's, it's a, it's crazy that the difference. But I mean, not long ago, this game didn't have challenges. So we don't need to use them like that. We're going out of style with them. Yeah, well, you can, you can learn for the first couple of innings that you can play without them. So that later on in the game. We're getting to get in. We're getting in, man, about some challenges, dude. Before we go too far. Thank you for tuning in to this episode of Brewer Territory. Ladies and gentlemen, we're out of here.
