Yes, here we go. Great to have another big spot in here tonight both on and off the set
Great audience to see you bearing and so are you for some great entertainment tonight. Hello to all the game Paul Goward
A lot of Ferguson
Top dog down the end there you good hey James. Hey doing well everything all right. You're all right. I'm good
Excellent busy. You're all weekend. Well, my it was a busy one wasn't always
busy. Now that's what he's on. Now I'm going off early this year, Gus. You know how much I love a ladder.
You're not going to look at a ladder. That's all we are.
Let's do it. He spoke about origin the other day. This is the latter at the end of 2025.
So we had Raider on top, Storm Bulldogs, Broncos there. You're eight. Sharks Warriors, Panthers,
Makeup and Roasters, Makeup the Eight. Three rounds in.
Well, we lost the Raiders to 14th. The Broncos have gone to 13th after that win.
Boy did they need it. Sharks. They're out of the eight all together. So to the Roosters.
Last last year they were in the top eight. And the Rabados. They were 14th.
And now they sit in seventh. Well, that's two minutes of my life. I'll never get back.
Why would you waste your time looking at the ladder at this stage?
There's a couple of boys in there for some teams as well. You love a boy. Love a boy.
Can anyone make anything of that ladder to start after three rounds? It's round three, mate.
Too long a long way to go. Plenty of time to go. I wouldn't be buying into it too much.
Although the Panthers are flying. Oh they ever. They look unbeatable.
We're going to talk about them very soon. I've had my little ladder moment.
You're on your own. Thanks again. Now we're going to move on to what will be an epic clash later this week.
On the back of what we saw from the Broncos in Melbourne. So many times last year we saw them 14 nil down.
And then on the Friday night it was a match to save a 14 nil down at the break.
They go bang, bang, bang in that second half and get the job done.
Just how good can they be in season 2026 after what we saw in that second half?
Because they were gone. They were shot. They've been bashed from pillow to post all week long.
Yeah, they were. Look, ahead of that first Ricky Trader had a six again and a penalty.
And what the Broncos love is that kind of momentum. I think they love when they're confident.
But I think they would have taken a lot of confidence out of some of their defense in that first half.
To be honest, some of their scramble, their edge defense on the line was really impressive.
And then Cam, we were on it half time. We said, you know what, if this Broncos side keeps the foot in their hands,
imagine what they could do. But that to me is, it's a few things.
It's not just, it's not just confidence, but it's also locking into those minor details.
They show when they want to be committed, the type of footballers that they can be.
They've also proven that they don't need to win every game to make the grand final and blow everyone away.
So they need to find a happy balance, I think.
Yeah, they show that last year, didn't they, Alana?
But I think if you look at their football this year, up until the start of the game on Friday night against the storm,
they'd only played really 20 minutes of quality rugby league.
Like, you look at their game in the World Club challenge overseas, it wasn't great at all.
The same in Round 1 against Panrith. They come out, they're on fire against Paramatta in the first 20 minutes.
Look like they're going to put 60 on Parra, end up getting beaten.
And then the same story again in the first half, they completed it 55%.
And that's what Alana was speaking about. She and I spoke at half time about, well,
if they've got enough energy left in the tank and they hold onto the football,
they've certainly got the points in them and they show that.
But I think it's a confidence booster, if not anything else for the Brisbane Broncos,
because to go down to Melbourne, it's a very hard thing to go down there and win.
They haven't done it for 10 years.
The last time the Broncos won in Melbourne was 2016.
So I think they can take a lot of confidence from that win.
Are they playing anywhere near their best? I don't think so.
Does it silence the critics for now, Gell?
Oh, I think it does for this one.
Well, Majors Copter over to Cruises him too.
Recently, he's halftime, speech must have been pretty good.
I mean, for the Melbourne storm school, right and half time,
tries on right and half time and just halftime and pretty crucially in this game.
And for them to score right and half time, I thought they're going to blow them away this second half.
And the first set of six, that has come out, they ran hard.
They scored off the first set of 16.
And they down, feel good.
A penalty of 60 go and went down and scored from then to the next 20 minutes.
They're really, really good.
So I think it does relieve a little bit of pressure for the moment,
but they've got to begin this week versus Dolphins.
If Adam Reynolds is fit, Gus, straight back into that half back roll?
He probably will, although I thought Ben Hunt gave them a lot of composure in the second half,
took some really good options.
The thing I got from the Broncos and the Storm game was,
they both kind of returned, in that second half,
they both returned to a little bit of what we saw last year.
The Melbourne storm and number of times last year,
blue sides away in the first half and were poor in the second half.
And it happened to them on Green Final Day.
What they did all season manifested itself on the big day.
And the Broncos, a number of times during the year,
gave away big starts and then brought home in the second half.
And that's what they did on Green Final Day.
He'd pretty much played out that way down in Melbourne the other night.
The other thing for the Broncos, in the first two rounds,
whether it's frustration, early season, a little bit of rust,
you know, premiership hangover, I don't know.
They played as individuals.
It was just, you know, Katani Staggs had to do something,
Payne Hart said to do something, Rich Walsh had to do something.
Right after half time the other night was the most team-managed game
that we've seen them play in a long time.
They actually controlled the ball, got through their sets of six.
We're really patient and had Melbourne at their mercy
with 20 minutes to go, took their time to beat them
and ended up coming away. Great winners.
It's a big win for them, I reckon.
Alrighty. So from the Broncos to the Dolphins,
Friday night 40, it's the Battle of Brisbane.
And this is always a classic encounter.
There's been six before. Dolphins have won one.
Broncos taken the other five.
And this is Live and Free from 730 Eastern Daylight Time
on Nine's Wild World of Sports.
Friday night 40 special Suncorp Stadium, the scene.
And after what we've seen from both these sides on the weekends,
this will be something special coming to you.
From the Queensland Capitol, I'm pleased to say,
ahead of the big match-up, it's been the two foes.
Is the Dolphins captain, Tommy Gilbert Jordy,
is tonight from home.
Congratulations on the show, mate.
Congratulations on the form of the slide.
It must be a real compliment around the team at this early stage.
Thank you, mate.
No, it's obviously two wins, one loss,
but to have the performance we had on the weekend,
early in the season, tremendous bounce back
from what we thought was a pretty bad form to start the season.
Tommy, you just mentioned the start of this year has been pretty good.
You two from three, last year, you were 0 and 4.
What's been the turnaround for 2026?
Probably the way we found our identity back into last year
as individuals and as a team and realised what works for us.
We probably had to find that out the hard way last year
and what we did in the pre-season was, you know,
sometimes you spend all the time working what you need to be better at
and we did that, but we also, you know,
zoned in on what we're really good at and getting better in those areas
and not falling in any complacency or falling in love with ourselves.
Working hard on that and, yeah, we found that on the weekend.
Yeah, Tommy did find the weekend.
It was a great win. I was down there watching it
and I'll tell you what, you defense throughout the game
was absolutely fantastic.
It was not something really associated with your side.
You're a great attacking team, but this week I was talking to you
to get coach Poe's game.
You get back Thomas Fleckler.
You must be welcoming him back going up against Paine House.
Awesome, Tommy.
You know, Tommy obviously had a rough couple of years
and left, you know, when he was injured at the time,
one of the best props in the game.
So it's a good chance for him to test himself against
who is the best prop in the game in Paine House
and I'm really excited for him.
He'll be fresh after a week off
and I know he wants that challenge.
What do you enjoy about this big clash against Brisbane?
Is it going up against another Queensland side
or is it maybe coming up against the mates as well?
Yeah, it's a bit of everything.
Obviously, I think this year I had a bit more of a tale
of the fact that Broncos won the comp last year.
So you're going up against the running premieres
for the first time this year in a pack of sun court.
That's a huge opportunity as a club
that's still trying to find its feet
but, you know, make its mark on the competition.
It's nice to have them early in the year.
Good to play mates, of course.
And it's always good to play in other Queensland clubs,
especially when they're down the road.
There's obviously a bit of a rivalry there
and we're not going to show our way
from this being a big game early in the season.
But we're really excited for that opportunity.
Tommy, when you forwards
or in the middle of the field,
you head down and you're bum up toiling away.
How comforting is it to know that you've got a bloke there
called Hammer-So-Tab-U-O for Die?
That can just score a try from absolutely anywhere.
Well, Herbie Farnsworth,
who seems to find gaps through key holes at any time he wishes.
I mean, they're just such strike players, aren't they?
That's terrific.
You know, off the back of, hopefully,
middles working hard that, you know,
when they can sniff an opportunity,
even half an opportunity, you know,
they can execute it and make a big play happen.
It's awesome.
It knows that you know as a forward
that you can front load a lot of energy
to know that you've got those blokes,
you know, executing those players at any time,
any given point of the field.
They're huge for our team in the way we want to play,
but you're right, as a middle, it is nice playing,
you know, with those blokes who can punish teams
when, I guess, their middles or teens
aren't as being as honest.
Tell them before we let you go,
your team at Easy Catella,
after that pass on the weekend.
Look, I know he's a pretty cool customer,
but has he got a bit of extra swagger since
it was just an absolute belter.
I actually didn't see it.
I was in the changing room.
When he was walking around with a bit of a limp
and he stepped on it,
I knew something was up.
He was very happy the next day,
and then I saw the highlight reel
and realised why he'd been a bit chirpy
and a bit happy with himself.
So, yeah, it was good to watch.
I'm glad he executed,
but it looked awful if you didn't,
but I'm not surprised he got it right
and got it on the money for sure.
Absolutely nailed it.
As have you tonight, Tom,
all the best we'll see you Friday night.
Let's go.
Here's the ball of prison.
Thank you.
The night of Tommy Gilbert,
to the goalkeeper,
to go down to the dolphin and slide the radius to my here
of 100% foodie.
This is what's still to come tonight.
Per laugh, Anthony Midegello.
He's just a big round,
and that's like,
the great storming,
nuggo and Marley go one-on-one to the I.B.
Eon on the rise,
Cricket or foodie,
Up on 100% dribble tonight, Rugby League fudes, they're popping off everywhere at the
moment.
Reese Walsh, Vista Fana, Gordy V Peter Badel.
We've got GEO Stadium, four on a part, glass shattering Saraldo in the hospital.
And then one of the more disgraceful disgusting things we've ever seen in the game, Rugby.
That's all coming up tonight.
All right, let's see what we're going to do tonight.
Our story forged on the shoulders of those who came before us.
The men from the mountain, they're brown and white patterns, so there's a lot of potential.
Our DNA built on the same foundations as the city we represent.
West East, Battlers, Hard Workers, fuelled by passion and pride in where we come from.
But our legacy carried into the future by those you see now.
636 paeders, 60 years, each year not defined by the one that came before, but driven by
it.
What's ever?
You feel it, don't you?
It'll space be perfect at the moment or up in the learning some really good lessons.
That desire.
That's all we're all about and it's going to insist up for a big year.
That burn.
We know you do, because we feel it too.
It doesn't matter where you come from, which emblem you sport, or when you first
attended our name.
We're a panel of people, and that means something.
Hard work beats talent, fight trumps flare, six decades, and our goal remains the same.
The pursuit never stops, success not dictated by streaks.
Our story, forged by what was, fuelled by what's next.
60 years of the 100 paeders, and for the last six years that are so fresh in the memory
of those premierships of 2021, 22, 23 and 24, an amazing run to the pre-limit in season
2025 and boy oh boy, Cameron after leaving, the Brisbane Broncos, Cranola Sharks and
Sydney Roosters in their way can these up in three rounds with a QBD score of 92 points
to 10 that the juggernaut is humming it again.
Oh, the well untrill it back.
There's no doubt about that.
It's scary for the competition to see the way they're playing right now, and I know we
set off the top of the show that we don't want to get too far ahead of ourselves.
It's only been three rounds, but they've been the most impressive side this year by a mile.
So consistent, I tell you what, they look fit and they look healthy.
Compared to last year, they just looked a bit flattened and tired, particularly in the
first half of the year.
Yeah, they were coming up with some uncharacteristic mistakes at times.
That young man there, Thomas Jenkins, he's on fire at the moment.
It's called four on the weekend.
They look unstoppable at the moment.
At the moment they do it, aren't they?
Yeah.
I want to see you think when are they going to get...
And then today they're human.
The Tom will come with someone, with someone who'll beat them, with the other day.
They're going to be going to throw in the fate of the button.
At the moment they're where they're playing, it is scary.
They feed, they farm, they're confident, and our photo's going to happen on the other side.
How good they are.
How good they are.
On the back of this top of the last season.
That's savage.
On the back of this top of the last season.
Right above the Rooster's feet, too.
I thought that would be the way a cheap one they showed up.
You can get them, remember, they're coming last after round 12-13.
So the fact that happened, didn't they?
They come back and played it, played it appropriately.
I know they have this off season, they'll be fit and fine
and trained very, very hard.
They've got a terrific scene in the playing group there.
And the way they've started doesn't surprise you, but, you know,
I think Tom will come, someone will get them.
I think the bride-to-try, sort of, something that I'll up in Atlanta.
How good was that?
Well, we were at the game on Friday night.
Obviously, that was the earlier game.
And just looking on at a little laptop, and we were just...
We were giggling.
Because, you know, that feeling of when a grubber just pops up
at the perfect time.
I mean, don't ask Bizzard to do that twice,
but the fact that he did, it was unbelievable.
Like, a great feeling for him,
but it was also a really important moment in the game.
The game was in a little bit of a grind,
and that sort of opened it up.
They scored the next set off the back of that as well.
So look, an incredible moment for him.
Two perfect grubbers, I think, even Nathan said
that he might ask him for a couple of tips.
But with that kind of pressure, it's no fluke,
but things like this that they have the bounds of the ball
and these sorts of things happen, so.
Nathan doesn't need to get a brine.
He can just get a marry, because...
Oh, what about that?
Exactly, he can be a brine tie.
You've got the tip up front.
Mary Fowler, my sister, taught me a few tricks,
and then passed it from Cliz down to me.
You know, they definitely gave me the tools and technique
to, obviously, do that.
That's a one-off. That's never going to happen again,
and I'm really happy with the results.
Yeah, all the best sister, and, yeah, God bless.
LAUGHTER
Look at that. He would have told Gus,
and Matilda, helping the parents, is get back on top.
That's how you feel wherever you can get it.
A sort of moment like that, for a fella like Biza,
that doesn't just come from talent.
That comes from sheer confidence.
If you hesitate or second-guess yourself for one second,
which young fellas usually do, there's no chance that happens.
But he never had a second thought.
From the time he got the ball, you could see there was one kick
and while he was doing the first kick,
he was thinking, if I get this, the second kicks on,
and he just went and did it.
And that's the confidence that comes from demonstrated ability.
That comes from the record that they've had.
Not just four premierships, five grand finals in a row.
The first half of last year is where they lost the competition.
They came storming home at the back end, just ran out of puff,
but they've started this year on fire,
and it's hard to imagine anyone beating them right at the moment.
Tom Jenkins, eight tries.
You're up in three rounds, pretty right?
Well, it's a great story, and it's a great lesson
from where players being in the right place at the right time.
Tommy Jenkins came from the country to be with the Panthers a few years ago
and couldn't crack it for a first grade spot.
Decided to take the opportunity to go to Newcastle,
played with a struggling team,
and then felt like giving it away.
He'd come back to play Ron Massey, Cup with some marries.
And Panthers said, no, no, come back to us.
A lot of players can come into that side,
and it's a bit like the Melbourne storm now.
Players can come from other clubs,
and all of a sudden get into the system.
You got to remember, they got half a dozen of the best players
in the world in their given position, half a dozen.
And they've got another little core group under that
that are all starting to play representative football
at Lindsay Smith and Knowsfellas,
at all, can play representative football.
And then these other fellas that come to the club,
once they get in the system and they believe in it,
and they trust the process,
the process is nearly unbeatable when they get it right.
There's no team in this competition at the moment
can beat that when they get it right.
Well, is Zach Lamax gone?
Is Jenkins an origin chance?
Well, he wouldn't let you down.
You know, I don't pick origin teams now, Gell.
Please.
That is in round three.
You're in your opinion, in your opinion here.
Who do you play origin?
Could I trust him? Yes.
Yes, I can trust him.
What traits is a player or in a person,
do you think that Tommy Jenkins has?
Especially for the pan with panthers.
He's always been a good honest country kid.
He tries his hard out, he trains hard.
He does everything they want a panther to do,
and he's on the end of an extraordinary backline.
I mean, train me for two weeks, I could score a try.
That's what I mean.
Sit down.
Sit down.
Do you imagine gassing the shorts in the shorts?
They're phenomenal.
You went ball when I applied you.
You couldn't make it like you looked.
I reckon I could score a try.
Maytons.
After I even caught it, a pretty sharp move.
You've just got to fall on the ball.
That's very true.
Now, of course, it was the panthers
being the ruse doze who were caughtly sitting
in 15th on the ladder.
It was this corresponding show, this time last year with Daly Terry Evans,
came and sat in this studio and rocked the rugby league role by saying he's leaving
manly. He didn't say at the time that he'd be heading to the roosters,
but that's exactly where he did end up and first eight nights.
He goes head to head against his old team for the very first time, ad for him.
Will he play on? Will he retire?
Or will he do the untruthy couple?
For anyone who's had the privilege to play one in a real game,
you want to bottle that feeling up for the rest of your life.
I've been lucky enough to do it over 350 times.
You've got to think how lucky I am to each week woken up,
get the butterflies in your belly and go out there and play a game
that I have loved for my whole life.
It really is special.
He's the man who he's under quite a bit of pressure.
He could not to make a statement.
You will lose your earbuds.
This face DCEO vines on the borders of Richter.
The game has given me so much.
The kid in me still exists and for as long as I can,
I'll continue to play the game and rugby league.
Well, you know, on the DCE Cup,
it's King of Thursday night, buddy, here on 9.
Waysing to think it was a year ago, Cam.
That decision was made and here we are.
This is going to be enormous.
I'm a little bit upset I'm not going to be there.
I'm doing the Friday night game, but I don't think Daly's had the best start
to this season on personal form.
The chooks haven't played that well either,
but I think maybe this moment going back to Brookfail
might just get his season kick-started.
We all know the quality that he still possesses.
I know he's getting on a little bit in age,
but he's a quality player.
He's playing state of origin last year,
so I think this might be the round that just might get him down.
Well, he's a big game player.
He knows how to perform under pressure.
It is a massive occasion.
It's going to be pretty well to just even be at Brookfail
and experience it.
It'll be quite bizarre, but...
How do you think they'll receive him?
Tommy Tuber said it today, no billing.
They're digging, oh, yeah, it's like saying...
Yeah, yeah, I don't want it, it's probably lead.
They're going to play.
It's a natural reaction for fans to bring it.
He's left their club, I think that, but I think this is okay.
I think it's okay.
That kind of tribalism in our game is so important.
That's what's about.
The season is not going to worry about
if they're booing him or not.
It just creates the theater,
and if he's a good enough player,
he can respond to that and show his football on the field.
That's what it's all about.
I think for both clubs, I think we're getting a win.
I mean, the russians haven't been great this year at all,
and they've only been pretty ordinary.
The russians for me has been their discipline once again.
The discipline has been their issue for years.
I think they gave away seven or eight penalties
versus the Panthers on the weekend,
eleven penalties against the Warriors
when they got pumped in round one.
I don't know how many six to go,
but once again, the discipline's been ordered,
and that's a part of the game they really need to fix up fast.
Yeah, he'll get booed, no doubt in the world.
LAUGHTER
They booed Clint Gutherson at Paramatter on the weekend.
He'll get booed, and they're entitled to boo.
But I think, so far as the change from Cherry,
everyone's to go from that manly after all that career
and go to the roosters,
and settling into the roosters way of doing things,
which hasn't been comfortable at the moment.
This isn't up to Daly Cherry Evans.
This is up to his teammates to really show how much they accept him,
and so you don't have to do much.
Just kick the ball, we'll look after this.
And it's their performance on the night
that's going to determine whether or not they beat Manly.
Not Daly Cherry Evans.
His teammates have got to show Daly Cherry Evans
how much it means to them to play for him on Thursday night.
They're the ones that have got to get this victory
and get over the top manly.
Cherry Evans is not playing against Manly.
He's playing for the roosters,
and the roosters have got to embrace him,
and they've got to win the game for him.
Can't wait.
Thursday night, right here on 9, Kim, you'll be missed,
but they love you at Brookie 2, mate.
Oh!
You and you're going to still mate.
It's a shame I'm not going to leave you.
You need to wear a hit when you hit the four points.
Stay with us till we've got plenty more still to come.
Really important is Marley Silver and Raleigh Smith
with Paramatter Real.
Some story has not been gone for a round.
You've come so close.
Take out anywhere.
CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
Well, welcome back to 100% Footy.
One of the great sides is Newton Robyn Leigh,
the Fox in full flight.
160 tries now on the board and goes past Maddie Singh
in the top 10 of all time.
Barra, back to back, we're in the 30-dits.
What are you, Jason Rolls, happy?
Lucky off the track, it's the machine gun in full flight.
Well done, Foxy.
We're going to get a health check in just the moment
on both the eels.
And the dragons, before we do that man on the screen right there,
Raleigh Smith, he had one decision to make.
Cricket, or Footy, and our paraffins
loving the fact that he chose the latter.
And tonight we find out exactly why
as he goes one-on-one to Marley Silver.
Raleigh Smith, the 22-year-old,
once they knew he was on track to play cricket for Australia,
but turned a rugby leg in the end of the wishing world.
Yours is a story that is unique in the world of rugby leg
because you were pretty good at two sports.
The other was cricket.
I was sort of just focused on what time of the year it was.
That's what sport I was doing.
So I didn't really have to do a pre-season for either.
So I was pretty lucky in that sense.
I got to sort of travel the world playing cricket
and it was such a big part in my life.
And it still is now.
How hard was the decision when it came to picking one or the other?
It was definitely tough.
I still think about it to the day.
Like, what if I feel like it's always
going to be in the back of your mind, whatever one you pick?
But I'm pretty content with where I am at the moment.
It's sort of just got to a point where I just couldn't cope with it.
Like, being from one sport to another,
I started to sort of go up the grades in Fuddy
and up the levels in cricket.
So I had to sort of throw all my eggs in one basket
to one sport, I guess.
And I think my first year full-time with Fuddy Adder
is a really good year, which sort of gave me confidence that
like it's going to be okay.
Raleigh Smith goes himself.
He's a bundle of energy this kid.
Bro, Raleigh Smith, he's been one of the real finds of the season.
And I think it's going to be a paramount of real for a long, long time.
Last year was a big run for you in your NREL career.
Yeah, over the moon.
I think my whole life I sort of just done it for my family.
It's such a cool thing to be able to sort of pay them back, I guess,
for all their sacrifices.
And to play one game, I was over the moon.
But to play 22 in my first year was something that I'm very proud of,
like within myself as well,
because I know it's such a big achievement.
But I suppose in the green scheme of things,
that's all done now, I guess.
So it gives me a lot of confidence that I sort of got to hold my spot
and the boys and Jason's got some faith in me.
So I guess I just got to repay them now, I guess,
to keep playing good for you.
He's a real competitive little fella,
very fit, strong, fearless.
So representing your family and your multi's background,
what's it been like for you?
It's been really cool, my part, which is Mum's dad,
he come over in World War II on a boat.
So he's still with us now, luckily,
and his family come over on a boat
and to be able to sort of see the joy in his eyes when
I sort of told him that I was playing for Malta
and then he sort of seen that my multi's flag was on my locker
and that I represent that every week.
Just to see the joy in his eyes and know that
I'm making my family proud, I guess,
and to be able to run out every week
and sort of do the whole multi's community proud, I guess.
I always get little comments,
you're our multi's are, you're our multi's boy and stuff like that.
So I'm really trying to just drive my culture, I guess,
and learn more about it.
Yeah, it's definitely a big part of my life.
Oh, yes.
Good call, Raleigh.
And I've heard about a loving life with him there,
particularly Gal, after the last couple of rounds.
That 52 points to full loss in Melbourne.
That's a distant memory now for him, Adam.
Yeah, it is. I got one there,
but last year too, in round one,
but he's a fantastic young player.
He's right, so you can't do two sports professionally,
especially those two sports, very demanding.
And obviously chose what sport,
makes him happier and what he's succeeding at.
So what I'm the young man, he's got a big feature in the game.
I just hope he's feeling that way when he's 45.
This team, Jason Riles,
they were all talking the off season,
and then all of a sudden it was silence.
All could leave a pair of matter fans after round one,
but what we've seen these last two weeks,
particularly in that second half yesterday, Cameron.
Yep.
Looking good.
Yeah, they are.
And I think that round one loss to Melbourne
was just a ride off, just a bit of a blip in the radar.
They were very strong through the preseason.
And I think they're going back to some of their best footies
that we've seen earlier in the year.
I've seen a lot of good signs from them last year.
There was a bit of a change at transition
with Jason Riles arriving at the club
and a change in the way they played.
They're football the way they structured their game plan.
But I see a lot of qualities coming out in their game now,
particularly Mitch Moses being fit.
I think he's a huge one.
The first part of last year he wasn't there,
so they struggled a little bit as most teams do
when their main men's off the park.
I think they're going to be the big mover for this year.
Well, by the back end of the year last year,
they're very good side.
They're more competitive.
They've probably been unlucky
not to sneak inside the club.
I think he was ready to go at the start of the year.
He trained most of the preseason,
and then the foot injury come about.
And he missed like, was it 10 weeks?
I think the first 10 rounds, something like that.
But no, they're up and about and doing some really good things.
Gus, can the dragons turn it around?
Well, they need to.
They had their opportunity to win that game
on the weekend.
It was a really gutsy performance by Paramata.
That second half of the way it played out.
They had a couple of injuries.
They got a send-in.
They were down to 12 men.
They had a front row defending in the sand at one stage.
And the dragons, honestly,
for the last 20 minutes had them at their mercy
and just couldn't execute a thing.
Just could not get it done.
Paramata gripped on,
and then the fox runs 60 metres in scores
to try for the winning try.
But the curries that Paramata showed,
I think is something that Jason Walsh
or really love.
The commitment to each other and their commitment to defense
to keep getting up and chasing the dragons.
It's a game the dragons should have won.
I still can't believe they lost it.
They had every opportunity to do it
and just had no idea how to go about it.
There's such a, there'd be a frustrating team to support.
Because this is a similar story to so many of their games last season
as well, Gus.
When it was well within reach,
the scoreline was close as well,
which means it's there for the taking,
whether it be errors, whether it be,
just not that icing on the cake to throw that extra pass.
Maybe it's confident not to do it.
I don't know.
I feel like there's been a few things in different stories throughout.
But it's just so frustrating to see that they've got the players there.
When they get it right,
they look really powerful.
They look really dangerous.
They dominated the first 30 minutes.
Look, start that game.
And they're an impressive football side.
They've got a very big, very physical forward pack
and they've got athletic outside backs.
I think they're half-snare to stand up.
And it all organized more.
We've seen a couple of pitches there from the weekend
where they got their hands on the ball.
They just shoveled out wide
and then there's just nothing organized.
Like, no one knows what's going on.
So it's up to Flennigan and Atkinson to get that sorted.
Once hell, no, coming out of the match,
Gail, Ryan Couchman.
He's since been referred straight to the judiciary for the hip drop.
And we've seen Jermaine Hopkut rolled out for the season
torn ACL off the back of it as well.
Is that textbook?
Look, that's a hip drop with that down to his job.
Look, the fact he's been referred straight to the judiciary for me
is probably...
I think that's based on the fact he's done his ACL.
I feel real sorry that he's done his ACL.
But we see hip drops for that weekend week out
where a player does hurt his leg and gets up with kids playing.
So the fact he's done his ACL is real shame for the kid
and I feel terribly sorry for him.
But he did not go out there intentionally to hurt his ACL.
A hundred percent of hip drop takers are...
I'm not going to say I have water, but they're accidental.
Definitely accidental.
The problem with the hip drop tackle these days is he plays
losing their legs because the opposition plays are so strong.
At times they can't help but lose their legs.
They're spinning around and falling on the back of their feet.
They've got to somehow not lose their legs.
They're somehow trying to keep their studs in the ground.
It's much easier said than done.
But that there was a total accident.
The fact he's been referred straight to the judiciary
means to me he's going to probably get a five or six weeks suspension
which I think is extreme.
The fact that the blade of the ACL
I feel terribly sorry for him, but it was an accident.
And we all know when we go into this game, things can go wrong.
Unfortunately, I went wrong then.
I could argue Mitch Moses too from the paramaterials.
He'll be joining us next week on the...
Oh, another's a few wheels, fancy. You'll have to come back.
But you start on the seven coming to spring boy and catch up.
In the studio, we're going to step away from the serious business for just a moment
because the dribbles they're back from 100% 40 to 100% dribbles.
And they've got a bit to work with.
How many of you boys?
You are listening to 100% dribble.
Hello, sports.
You know, upon his dribbles we're back for another week
of 100% dribble brought to you by
Good Day Daily Multivitamans.
One sashay into water.
All you need.
It's the least you can do.
Now, it's been a Cutty Week in Rugby League.
Lots of tit-for-tat infighting he said she said.
And it started off with Stefano Uttar Kamano
having another crack at Reese Walsh and the Broncos
ahead of their matchup on Friday night.
Tom Stefano's 0-2 and he's talking shit against the Broncos.
He did it before the grand final
and he did it on Friday and they've lost both games.
And he needs to just...
Put it away.
Reese came out with his all-butt-no-bite Instagram story
which had probably made Stefano even more upset.
That's blood-boiling stuff.
It is. I've got to be honest with you.
I've never heard Stefano speak until this moment.
It feels like the Broncos bring it out of him.
The only two times I've seen him speak
is to talk shit and it's gone horrifically.
Now, in some more serious news,
Rugby League journalist Peter Bedell
has had to be put into witness protection
after going after Gordon Tellus on
some Rugby League show somewhere.
I don't know.
Reports we're getting is that the family
is settling into their new life.
Kids are enjoying the schools
and we wish them all the best
because there's no combats your own life panel.
It's been a tough week for Gordon Tellus
with the Broncos in what many describings are very close.
Very, very, catty.
Have removed his name from the conference room door
with that little battle showing.
Oh, they've got him good.
No, Gordon's learned his lesson now.
He will not say another word in great moves.
It'll be a very quiet Gordon Tellus now.
I'd say so.
And it's a completely unrelated news.
The Gordon Tellus Center of Excellence has just opened up
outside of Gold Coast Titans HQ.
Beautiful Tellus.
It's a serious question here.
What needs to happen to and at a Rugby League stadium
before it gets blown up, leveled, maybe renovated?
Now, GIO Stadium, as it's been well documented,
has a baseline level of smelling like human feces
for some reason.
And now it's going after opposition coaches.
That's right, Tom.
Cameron Sarato tried to open a window for some fresh air
at the stadium and it shattered all over him.
He's almost lost his arm.
Have you got a fight of the gas?
Can we flash to that gas?
Not good, Tom.
Not good at all.
Had to go to hospital for that 50 stitches, you know?
Now, let's have a listen to Ricky Stewart
and his thoughts on the situation.
People that make decisions about our stadium
don't care about the stadium.
They don't care about the nation's capital level
or the stadium that we have.
So that's why I don't know.
Would you bet it? I don't care.
Now listen, I know Ricky's insane.
He doesn't care there, but I think he cares.
He cares, mate.
Ricky cares.
He cares, mate.
And in one of the most disgraceful things
that we've ever witnessed, have a go at this bloke.
That bloke should be put in prison for life, Tom,
for crumbs against Rugby League.
All right, that's all good, Tom, for.
Thanks again for having us.
Thanks again to Good Day.
We'll see you next time.
Thank you, boys.
The dribbles take on the weekend.
The boys, and it was plenty of it.
The world of footy.
And it included another win for the Warriors.
Gus, this time in Newcastle.
And look, there was another bad night side.
We know that.
Tener Boyd, one of the standouts in this win as well.
Sitting on top of the ladder right now,
can they maintain that momentum?
Absolutely, they can.
They had a great season last year.
Just found a little bit wanting it at the back end
and a few injuries, but they've started the year on fire.
This is a really well-cooked
and a really good football team.
And they've got some great kids coming through the system, too.
We're starting to see a few emerge.
But this is a team with plenty of points in it.
A great defensive system.
And you're only going to look at the teams they've beaten so far.
They're a well-balanced football side, aren't they?
They're a very, very good side.
Very good side.
Watch out for the wires.
Looking good there in Newcastle.
Watch out, too, for at the minute, shallow.
And just a moment.
He's going to join us right here in this video.
The men cut the cow.
He's in the house.
Stay with us.
He's our retro yet.
Right here.
All my opponents here.
All my opponents here.
Yes.
Want to play out what nearer as well?
Anthony Minnetchilla, the cow that's in the house.
I mean, he's great to see you.
Welcome to 100% 40%.
Come here.
Come on, boys.
How are we?
Got your origin coach here, too, mate?
I know.
Big gust.
The man.
But we're going to get into a bit of that in your history very soon.
But let's go a little bit further back.
Obviously, we've come in a multicultural round.
And I'd love back in the day, seeing you running out for Italy
in the blue.
Tell us a bit more about that.
Oh, great fun.
When I was at the roosters in the late 90s, I actually played
for the Italian rugby league team in 1999 before.
I made first grade in the year 2000.
And we had a wonderful tour.
Dave Riello was in the team at the time.
And it was just a great experience.
And then, you know, fast forward until, you know,
2011 when the coach at the time called me and said
about trying to get Italy in a World Cup.
I've never made a World Cup before.
You know, let's do it.
You know, I want you to be captain.
And I'll say, let's do it.
So we did their qualifications over in Italy and Serbia
of all places.
And another great show.
And we just beat Leviton, actually,
to make the World Cup in extra time there.
So 2013, World Cup played for Italy.
Good fun.
Unreal.
Great memories.
Look at the international game where it stands right now.
I know, it's growing.
Yeah, the Pacific nations are on fire at the moment.
So it's great to see.
Mini, what have you made of the roosters so far this season?
Yeah, look, traditionally, we don't start well.
Even, you know, when I was playing around,
mum wasn't a favourite round for us.
But, like, normally, we warm into the season.
Look, I would say they're not happy with their defence at the moment,
especially the edge defence.
And I think Gail mentioned earlier about a little bit
some of their dis1 parts without giving away six again after six again.
And I think, you know, in this sort of modern era, you know,
you give away too many six agains.
And it's hard to claw back.
So I think they're back and just sort of fix that up.
And the combinations with DC and I know that's a big talking point.
That will grow.
That will get better.
You know, I think in 2018, when Cooper come to the club,
I think for the first eight rounds are very clunky.
And then they sort of rolled into gear.
So I think there's other things that things need to fix up,
and they're working harder.
And they should be right.
You're, you're regarded as one of the greatest fallbacks
to play our game, Mini.
How do you see Teddy's game right now?
And his legacy that he's building at the roosters?
Oh, he's been, he's been wonderful for the roosters.
You know, I always admire players that perform well week in week out,
but then year after year, you know, you've done it for many years.
Billy did it.
Like year after year players, that can still, you know,
stay at a high standard, especially when they get into their 30s.
And then just to come more of a professional person themselves.
And that's what Teddy's done for the club.
And, you know, he's been, he's been outstanding.
He's added the leadership stuff to it as well.
So, yeah, he's, he's great to watch still.
Do you think his name needs to be in the mix for Origin again?
I think it needs to be in the mix for sure.
So it's, when he had that break off Origin,
you see how much of a better player he was for the roosters?
Yeah.
Being bit selfish there because, you know, you know,
Gus knows how, well, everyone, you know,
what it takes to play Origin, like mentally as well.
Basically mentally, there's a massive hangover
after you do the series.
And then going on to it in the year, it's big.
And it takes a lot of energy to do that.
So you see how Teddy hasn't done that for a couple of years.
And the performance he puts in each week for the roosters has been great for us.
I'm going to go ahead and script a little bit
because I've got all these questions here for you.
But I'm going to ask you one from left field.
I can remember being at a roosters training session about 2008.
And we had to come out onto the field and stop you from training
because we just got a diagnosis.
You had a serious neck injury.
And you were in serious doubt of having your career ended at that time.
Can you go back to that day and tell me what the battle was like to come back?
Because you played for another six years after that when they said you were gone.
Yeah.
Well, two years prior to that, I had back injury, back injury,
or back operation, back operation.
And then that serious neck injury had a disc bulge at C5, C6.
And, yeah, you were there training the day.
And I remember Tony, how you've come running out down the tunnel
and pulled me off the field.
And let me know the news that, you know,
bulging disc, one millimeter away from this vinyl cord.
Any top of it could be pretty dangerous and serious here.
So you really, I really have to sit back and take a look at,
you know, is this worth it trying to come back and play a contact sport
or, you know, you've got the whole life ahead of you, you know.
So it's a courage or stupidity that brings you back.
Yeah.
I remember my wife, Terry, at the time saying,
well, you've got to find out the reasons why you're,
all your discs are black.
That's what they'll tell me.
All every single disc of mine was black.
You can't really come back and play a contact sport.
So, you know, that question that she asked me,
just kept ringing my head.
And I just wanted to find answers and search for something
that tried to repair myself.
And all it was was, you know, I was being the candle of both ends.
And it led you to a life of extreme health and fitness.
And you're actually dealing with kids now in schools around the same theme.
And you've actually dedicated your life to it.
It really changed your life at the time.
Yeah, well, now when I look back, it was actually a blessing in the sky, really.
You know, I'd sort of evolved and studied a lot on nutrition and lifestyle
and the power of that.
And then now, you know, starting minifit and running PE programs for all ability kids, you know.
So it's just a blessing now when you look back,
you go through those injury and adversity.
And it was a time where I got to start a business and do something on my own.
And now, so that's great.
I mentioned off the top of this segment, many, the era you played in.
And, yeah, obviously you got to play rep-footy,
being the best fullback that there was with Australia and New South Wales.
But you got to play with the best half-back that there was.
And probably it has been in Andrew Johns.
What was that life?
Being at that elite level with those elite players in both the Blues and the Rose?
Oh, it was awesome, you know.
2003 when Gus picked me at fullback for the Blues.
It was a massive year.
You know, Queensland just opened Suncourt Stadium.
I went from Lang Park to the Suncourt Stadium and it was huge.
And, you know, after that, we used to come in the camp Sunday night
and you'd go out all night, right?
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
What happens in Vegas State?
I remember, Lancia, could you, you know, day two of camp?
And I think Gus pulled Joey outside and, you know,
we're all looking at the window and there's heated words and Gus,
will you give me a pop-up?
He's there this!
I love it.
I'm just talking to Joey.
I'm not here to talk about it.
No, yeah, Joey started his toys out in the cotton, walks off.
But the day's press, after that, you know, he was a best trainer all week
and he went on to get me out of the match.
So you cracked the code with him?
He cracked the code.
Gus knows out of a pair of team and's prepared individual.
So it was a great experience.
My first experience there.
That was my first ever game for the Blues.
I was up there at Suncorp Stadium and I was pretty nervous for that game.
I don't get that nervous for games, but that game was pretty nervous.
And I remember, Joey, just come on.
You're ready for this.
I'll know it.
Just hang around me.
You know, I'm not going too far.
That's pretty.
That was it.
Yeah.
It's too good.
When you go down memory lane all the way to the night,
that's the legend of a player and a person.
Anthony Minichela, I hear it out of his head.
Right down here, he and me.
Stay with us at Tabtop 3.
The highlights from the answer to the competition.
That's the answer to the heart of his head.
Tabtop 3.
I'm here on 100% fully.
Gus first came off the ring.
A little bit of relief for the Cowboys.
And what about Trekey?
He's a gifted player this kid.
He's creative, but this was an individual effort.
It's straight down the middle of the field,
stepped around his opposite number.
I really love him as a player.
He's a creative, great entertainment to watch.
Yeah, it's a great matchup.
Wasn't it?
Yes, a drink-water-verse counter.
Kenny, I thought they both played well, but drinking.
He needs a big game.
He's had a quiet start to the year to his own standards,
but high involvement.
That's when he's playing at his best.
Had 21 carries for over 200 metres.
Great game.
But where the little white head?
Gear Alana.
How good of you.
How good is it to watch?
You're so exciting.
Scores the first try.
It sets up the second.
But I think it's really telling a 40-player
the effect that they have when they're off the field.
Joy Gray had a HAA went off,
and I really think you could notice during that period.
I could watch a play like that the whole day.
The little kid that's absolutely killing it
that sells it near the moment.
Try saver.
And skeleton as well.
Yeah, he's unbelievable.
There it is.
What a weapon.
Want to guess his favourites that life?
He's the guess.
He is my favourite.
Yeah, he's an absolute beauty.
A little white headgear.
I'll always out there near a chance.
And want to gals favourites.
Another one for this week.
Great hit line.
Cyclone choice.
You're talking about great defense.
Down.
Yeah, about 4-5 try savers.
What a game he had.
It's got the first try.
Talk about how high it plays and plays.
You can just trust.
He turns up weekend weekend.
No matter what.
No matter how he's feeling,
but there's injured sick tide.
No matter what he turns up,
puts his brother in line for the club
every single weekend.
Look, there's at least four try savers on the weekend.
What a game he had.
He was the difference, I think.
Freedom in him.
Give him the match.
Only gave him two points.
Rustin.
Yeah.
He looks fit at the moment, Gus.
He's good.
Look, he's had a lot of injuries throughout his career.
Paul will tell you that he had terrible luck early in his career.
It's really the last two off seasons.
Are the first two off seasons in his career
he's been able to get right through.
And this one he's been extraordinary prepared
really well for this year.
And that's why he's there in big moments like that.
Paying dividends for the doggies.
Who are flying?
Stay with us.
You're watching On Every 10-Footy.
Ravi, please help him.
We've got tips for the weekend ahead.
All right.
He tits on for round four of the competition.
GAL for the DCE Cup for the Battle of Brisbane.
The Sunday Arvo in camera.
I'm going to the roosters.
I've been going to the roosters, Broncos, and the sharkies, of course.
Kevin.
I think roosters.
I think the Broncos in a very close one against the Finns.
Alana.
And I'm going Raiders.
Oh, yes, sir.
I'm going roosters.
I think the Broncos will keep winning and Raiders.
GALAGUS.
Rooster, dolphin, and I'm telling you.
The Raiders are a very good team.
Right, really not.
Oh, wait.
There you go.
You hit it in here.
That's a hundred percent for these three.
Thanks for the crowd.
Thanks you at home.
See you next week.
100% Footy
