Broncos QB Battle: Stidham vs Ehlinger

On March 31st, the Denver Broncos are still in the dark about who starts at quarterback in week 1 of the 2026 season.

Bohnix broke his ankle back in the AFC divisional round in January.

So head coach Sean Payton is opening up a real battle between Jared Stidham and Sam Ellinger for that spot.

Nick's crushing his rehab though, ahead of schedule and eyeing a return for organized team activities at the end of May.

Payton made it clear nothing's locked in yet for the backup role, leaving the door wide open during the offseason grind.

Stidham held it down as Nick's main backup last year and even got the nod in that wild snowed out AFC championship game against his old squad, the Patriots.

He's the only one between him and Ellinger who's seen real action over the past two seasons.

Ellinger mostly rode the practice squad in 2025 but backed up Stidham in the playoffs and just resigned on a one-year deal, worth two.

Million dollars. He hasn't played since a single game with the Colts in 2023.

With OTAs around the corner, this quarterback competition could shake up the Broncos whole offseason vibe and we'll be watching every snap to see.
