Broncos Shift Elliss to Linebacker

Drafted in the third round back in 2024, Ellis already has 7.5 sacks as a backup to guys like Nick Bonito. The team sees potential to fix their shaky Limebacker spot by shifting him inside. Earlier this month they cut Dre Greenlaw, leaving the position thin. Plus, after trading for Jalen Waddle, no first round draft pick means they're leaning on homegrown talon like Ellis instead of banking on a rookie. Ellis comes from Limebacker bloodlines. His two brothers play the position in the league, Christian with the Patriots and Caden with the Saints. Right now, behind Stodder's Singleton and Sternad, it's just injury prone Sanders and three undrafted free agents. Fans may raise eyebrows at the move, but Payton says it's about getting the best 11 on the field.
