Browns Sign Safety Daniel Thomas for Depth

General manager Andrew Berry traded for right tackle Titus Howard and signed offensive lineman Zion Johnson and Elton Jenkins. He also added linebacker Quincy Williams and Titan Jack Stowe as free agents. Earlier this week, the Browns resigned depth cornerbacks, Trey Avery and DeAngelo Ross from within. Now they bolster their secondary by signing safety, Daniel Thomas, who previously played for the Jacksonville Jaguars and Detroit Lions. Thomas entered the league as a fifth round pick by the Jaguars in the 2020 draft after starring at Auburn. He made an early mark on special teams with a block pun return for a touchdown and an interception against Ben Roffesberger. Over six years, he's appeared in 83 games with just six starts. This signing gives the Browns valuable depth behind starting safeties. Grand Delpit and Ronnie Hickman, who received a second round tender.
