Browns Sign Safety Daniel Thomas for Depth and Special Teams

On March 20th, the Cleveland Browns have signed free agent safety, Daniel Thomas, to add depth in the secondary and on special teams.

Originally drafted by Jacksonville in the fifth round back in 2020, Thomas brings six years of pro-experience.

He played with the Jaguars from 2020 through 2024, then suited up for the Lions in 2025, appearing in 83 games overall.

Thomas has 63 career tackles, one interception, one fumble recovery, and 33 special teams stops.

Last season in Detroit, he saw action in 12 games with two starts.

He slots into a safety group led by Grant Delpid and backed by Christopher Edmonds and Donovan McMillan.

His value shines on special teams, where he's logged over 1,400 snaps.

With new special teams coordinator, Byron Store taking charge, this signing gives the Browns reliable coverage options,

heading into training camp.
