I think that feels like a nice package there.
Yeah.
Wow, look at those foams lined up.
It's still good.
Man, somebody climbed the sports hub.
So bottom of the third here in Victor Arvetson has a chance to win it with a goal.
Arvetson, the righty.
We'll start in from the right side to the dot.
Coming between the circles, goes the backhand and scores.
Bro, it's winning and I shoot out.
What a comeback.
Victor Arvetson puts it away.
Confident move by Arvetson to finish this thing off and what a comeback.
Can you believe it?
Bruins come from three down in the third period.
Score with the goal tender pulled the tie up in 11 seconds to go and win it in a shootout.
Four, three, the final here in Columbus.
We have Bruins and a really impressive weekend from them.
Capped off by what you heard right there, Victor Arvetson's game winner in the shootout,
capping a pretty impressive three goal comeback in the last 14 minutes of the third period in Columbus.
We have the Celtics looking again impressive last night in yet another win without one of their key players.
We have the Red Sox opening weekend and how they fared and I'm sorry.
So I give quick feedback on the Red Sox weekend.
How come you didn't say they looked impressive?
I just said coming off the Red Sox opening weekend and weekend,
I'll give our impressions on how that looked,
including the new nature of the game with the ABS,
the automatic balls and strike challenge system,
which I think has really been the talker from the game over the weekend,
the sport over the weekend, we got thoughts on that.
And if an owner's meetings, robber crafts speaking today,
I think giving more insight,
at least as far as I could tell,
into the Christian Gonzalez situation,
I'll give you my impressions on what he had to say later on in the show,
Tiger Woods fallout from the weekend, there is a lot to get to.

I just played the Arbots and Game Winner Mads,
because I thought that that,
that come back yesterday in Columbus,
may have been the most dramatic thing that happened over the weekend.
I don't know if it's the most important,
given where the Bruins are in the pecking order,
but the surge they've gone on here in the second,
well, I'll say post Olympic stretch of their schedule,
and how they are playing currently,
and how that game shook out yesterday,
was kind of the balls.
I hate to break it to you.
It was an unbelievable comeback.
Unbelievable.
You're not going to get any argument from me.
That whole thing was incredible.
I thought they were toast.
I'm sure everyone did.
After the way they looked in the first period,
and then go into the third down three zip,
obviously you're in the final minute,
you end up scoring just before 11 seconds left,
and then on top of all that,
I thought the shootout goals,
really all three of them,
that were scored in that shootout.
How do you like Charlie F and Coil?
Unbelievable.
That guy.
They were all, all the shootout goals were good goals.
All of a sudden he's roofing it.
Right in front of the net is power play goal,
the same thing.
And roofing it like,
like he is some sort of Hall of Fame finish like,
oh, who had that great,
the Russian,
that's who, remember,
Pablo, that's who,
Pablo, that's who,
on the Olympic shootout,
did that like four times or something,
so deft and skilled,
Charlie F and Coil,
all of a sudden,
is Pablo,
that's who got there on the shootout.
I'm sorry, Murray, go ahead.
Yeah, no,
the first period was an abomination
who slapped out there,
half-assed effort,
and you can't,
I get it's the second back of a back-to-back,
but you can't have that kind of effort
to start a game like this
when every point matters.
And I know there's a top wild card,
but it's really bunched up there
for the wild card in the east,
so I hate it out there.
That felt like they're going to,
these eight holes are going to lose this game five, nothing.
And then you get a couple of brawls
from Castlic and Geno.
It felt like they got some energy there.
Those fights were also awesome.
Tremendous.
Seriously.
Slugfest.
You don't get those generally nowadays,
but those hurt watching them.
Go ahead.
Yeah, but that felt like,
okay, even though we're not going to have any,
you know,
real scoring opportunities
we're just going to be able to put the puck in the net.
At least we got that,
and we're not going to go down
like a bunch of pusses.
But it did feel like that will come up,
and then like I would like to know the, like the nerd stat,
or mathematically,
what are the odds of coming back down three,
oh, third period against a playoff team.
Like that game felt dead in the water.
That was as impressive a win they've had in a long time.
And it should be like,
they were resilient bunch.
Do I like them to win the Stanley Cup?
Probably not,
but I see a game like that.
And just how the east is in general,
like they could win a round or two.
I don't know how you don't,
you can't feel like that about the Bruins right now.
So you know what word?
I would use any game like that and don't laugh.
I don't mean to sound like one of these hawks.
It was inspiring.
It was an inspiring victory.
It's a kind of win that makes you go,
I can't believe they won this game good for them
for coming back and winning this game.
That really showed some balls.
So the Saturday game where they beat Minnesota,
which is one of the best teams in the league.
That's the best I've seen them play.
That's the best I've seen this team this year,
this iteration of the Bruins player.
I thought they were outstanding in that game.
To the point where I'm like,
where did this come from?
And then I, you know,
yesterday was certainly more uneven,
but the way they pulled that out,
you know, should lead to believe,
they're going to keep things interesting down the stretch.
I got some more individual Bruins thoughts coming your way,
but there definitely be on the board here on a reentry Monday.
Quick Celtics thought, Matt's last night,
is you peruse the game?
So I am not as impressed as everyone else in that game
and I'm not telling you it didn't matter.
I recognize who was out.
So to go on the road and get a win against a team
that has been playing well,
particularly in the second half of the season,
obviously accounts for something.
But boy, Charlotte plays no interior defense at all.
None.
The Celtics are able to go in there at will.
Charlotte doesn't really have a big man.
They have no rim protector.
Kada had 17 points,
which should tell you plenty.
And because of that,
I think they tried Charlotte tried at times
to collapse in the inside a little bit.
And they left the Celtics open from long range
and they buried a ton of them.
So I think it was ultimately like,
I don't know, 12 or 13 threes that they made.
A lot of them were long and they were open.
So they played well.
I'm not telling you they didn't play well.
But that defense for Charlotte is soft.
It's a soft defense.
And the Celtics exploited it.
Tatum did look the best he's looked so far.
Give me more on that.
By far.
You know, the shot was smooth, fluid.
And there was more than just,
so he made a couple of really long threes.
He took 10 threes still.
It didn't feel like 10.
Because I thought there were a lot of other shots.
He finished well at the rim and more important than anything else.
There were a bunch,
a handful of possessions.
It's called a half dozen,
where he got the ball,
fouled line in,
high post, low post on the block.
You know, whatever took a 16 foot fall away on one side,
maybe a 12 footer on the other side.
Like there were some post up baskets
in the mid range,
that he made where he was just able to shoot over guys.
I guess what I'm saying is I felt like his game didn't just exist
at the three point line and at the rim.
There was a mid game there yesterday
that was damn near impossible to stop.
And it actually started,
I think Friday night in the fourth quarter,
because he shot awful against the Hawks on Friday night of the fourth quarter.
He started going to the rim and then drawing fouls.
And maybe I just think that was a confidence builder form against that Hawks team Friday night.
What does it tell you that they keep showing so well without, you know,
winning without Tatum,
winning without Brown now?
What does that tell you?
They are getting,
look, they're getting pretty consistent effort
and they're sharing the ball.
Like there is a team type of offense
that is existing with them.
And even without Brown and White on the floor last night,
they had it again.
I guess what I'm asking is,
does it translate?
In other words,
like the natural thing is to say,
well, if they're doing that without Tatum,
what are they going to be when he comes back?
If they're doing this now without Brown,
what are they going to be when he comes back?
Yeah, I think it worked that way.
There's ceilings going up.
Their ceiling is going up.
And listen, I, you know,
I'm not one of these people that puts the role players first.
I'm starting to believe that with Tatum and Brown and White on the floor,
they're actually going to get something out of these guys that I've thought
are going to craft their pants the whole time.
All the supporting stuff.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That's we can now have a
bit more of an eye on knowing the kind of eye on the crown.
And also,
not just the Boeing and the Southern Air Force,
but the German-
Gonzalez.
Wait, that, right, guy,
who, who, who,
Gonzalez, who might leaving,
House are,
and to a certain degree,
you know,
Walsh didn't really do all that much in that game yesterday.
But those guys,
when they're open
can make shots.
They can make them.
And if Tatum and Brown move in the ball
and playing inside the arc
as much as outside of it,
Celtic 617779085, your Red Sox, who?
You're Boston Red Sox.
Oh, oh, oh, oh, the Red Sox.
I'm sorry.
I might have had something.
My headphones might not be plugged in right.
I think, you know, you kind of cuts in and out like that sometimes.
So here's the conclusion I've come to with the Red Sox.
If you're going to be a run prevention team,
you can't play with your head up your ass.
OK, you can't do it.
And when I say that, I mean, you can't get picked off first base.
You can't throw the ball away in missouts like they did on Saturday.
You can't have a powerless offense that doesn't steal bases.
That's not going to work.
And one of your relievers comes in to face you,
Hennie Oswares, who's one of the easiest strikeouts in baseball.
If you pitch them correctly, you can't leave a big fat meatball.
With two strikes.
Right.
So those are stupid mistakes.
And those have to get cleaned up.
Now, the other part of it, I will tell you this.
If you ask me in October, November,
and we all asked each other,
what the two biggest needs on the team were,
I would have said a number two starter and a right handed bat.
Now, they let Breggman go.
So that's two right handed bats.
I will give you Wilson Contreras for the other.
I will allow it.
So the point is, but they still need one on top of Wilson Contreras.
If on paper, Contreras replaces Breggman.
Fine.
I'm going to give you that one.
I think that's this is.
No, no, but I'm nice.
Go ahead.
I'm going to give you that one to be nice.
Got it.
So now you just need a right handed number two,
or a number two starter independent of right handed.
And you need a third baseman.
Their answers were,
at least as they told us at the time,
Sonny Gray and Caleb Durbin.
He looked good.
I would say both of them need to wear diapers.
Gray is, you know, forget Gray.
Gray is what he is.
They should have never tried to sell me that one down my throat.
And I didn't buy it from the beginning.
Wait, Durbin is not, is a for a player.
This guy's a for a player.
And you know, you, you were right about it from this standpoint.
This is one of your Hall of Fame takes, Mike,
since I've been on this show.
You, you couldn't have been more right about this stuff.
It's crowded room.
That Hall of Fame book.
I, this guy is not a baseball player.
He's not a big market major league.
You want to stick him in a place like,
I'll do respect Milwaukee.
You didn't even make the team out of camp last year.
Or Minnesota.
Or Oakland.
Or Kansas City.
Or Cincinnati.
Or give me some other suck bag.
And a central team other than the cops.
Okay, you want to give me, he can,
I'm sure he can play on that kind of team here.
As the number five hitter against lefties on opening day.
No shot.
Not good enough.
Can't fill the hole.
Mass.
The, the, the takeaway headline take for me.
Is John Henry and Craig Breslow have turned the red socks?
Into the Cincinnati Reds.
Pretty much.
There's, is there much separating those teams?
No.
That's what you are.
Yes.
You got a guy like Caleb Durbin would fits well on the reds,
the brewers, the red socks,
all these teams hunt for bargains.
So they throw sunny gray in game too,
because the St. Louis carnels agreed to pick up salary.
That's a, that's the exact kind of move at the reds
or the brewers would make.
And that's the kind of team you have.
And that's what you are.
And the reds, you are a,
you are a fine NL Central Club.
Congratulations.
John Henry.
And did I say I'm bloom or Craig Breslow?
You said Breslow.
What's it all the same?
What's the difference?
Same initials.
We'll pick this up on the other side with your calls on
whatever you wanted to reentry Monday to you after these words.
Support is available 24-7 with verbal care.
We're here day or night.
Ready whenever you need help.
Because a great trip starts with the right support.
Build your demands.
Continue on the sports hub.
Well, you got to be still on first.
Three, two, one out.
The tracer has struck out his career.
See if you get aggressive here and try to send Doran.
Get something going.
Don run late.
He digs out the lead.
Back in.
He's out.
Just popped out of first.
I'll have to pick off.
Doran erased it first.
Very hot to Caleb Durbin here.
Trying to get that first hit.
It'll be a big one.
Just die in for that first knock.
Put a red socks down.
One.
Caleb Durbin waiting.
And here it comes.
Ooh, a fool.
That's his team.
That's his guessing.
Just pressing a little bit.
Not seeing the baseball.
Out of the hand.
And just guessing he's going to get a hit of first try.
I want to drive it.
It is an anxious half swing.
Here, Bres, you still got to be careful over here.
You have to go in the pitch.
I've got a quick move.
Three and two.
Swing and miss.
He struck him out.
And a red socks failed to score.
They strand him in first and third.
That's when I texted Maz.
This team's offense might suck a fat one.
And Caleb Durbin.
It doesn't do it justice.
What we just put in there.
He was up three.
So Doran walks with one out.
Then gets picked off at first.
Okay.
So there's two outs.
Nobody out in the eighth.
Nothing doing.
But then Contreras draws a walk in a brave who is just torched in the ball.
He is ridiculous.
Laces one to center.
And the center fielder drops.
It's when I have first and third.
Two outs.
Caleb Durbin has a chance.
He's old for 11.
I think at this point.
In his socks career.
Something like that.
Goes up three and oh.
So you're in a good spot.
First and third.
Three and oh.
The three one pitch.
You want to go back and watch the three one pitch that he swung at.
Three oh was piped right down the middle.
Three one.
I think it bounced maybe a foot in front of the plate.
And then he strikes out on obviously strike three.
And that's the ending.
So that sort of I don't know.
That was a weekend of frustrating moments.
That might have been number one.
Yeah.
And it get from a guy who doesn't strike out.
Allegedly according to the red side.
That's correct.
Unless it's two outs and murders in scoring position.
They use two strikeouts and four bats.
The money man to your calls Dexter in the car.
Go ahead Dexter.
Hey, boys.
I'm already at the point where I'd rather get in the car with tighter words.
And watch him there and take another at that.
The guy is just brutal.
And I just don't get how they keep falling into this trap.
I get it if they were out on pregnant.
It's the contract onto high.
But there's two Japanese players that came over on very affordable deals.
One went to the white talks and the other one went to Toronto.
And they're both lighting it up.
I think there's going to be big time hindsight on their basis here.
Okay.
Well, not just that.
How about the guy on the other side?
You're heading to Suarez.
Science in Cincinnati won your 15 million.
And then I think it was a couple days later that you made the Durban move.
Right.
Yep.
So I don't know it was in the same week.
Yep.
I don't know if you were in on Suarez.
And I know Maz, you're not a big fan of this player.
Like he's someone you would just say is like a softball player.
That kind of thing.
And not that he was in super high demand.
I mean, he ended up going to the Reds one year 15 million.
But he is.
What do you have 49 home runs last year?
Yeah.
And the contract was way.
I said this at the time.
Way, way less than I thought he was going to get.
So you know, I think that's going to give you a little more threat there in the middle of your lineup.
A guy like that.
Yep.
Then Caleb F. and Durban.
Mm-hmm.
When a team like Milwaukee that is had success playing the moneyball thing and doing that thing,
playing mid market baseball in terms of building a team.
When they let go of the guy who finished third in the rookie of the year
and is making like 800,000.
That should tell you something.
Like teams like the Brewers have to keep those guys.
If they're any good, they got a year out of them pumped and dumped them.
And you're the dope set that took the cheese on it.
I mean, that should have told you something right there.
The college right about Okamoto with the Blue Jays two.
The red socks were linked to him early on.
His deal was only 60 million over four years.
And they didn't touch him either.
Dean and Shrewsbury on the Celts.
I mean, Dean and Shrewsbury on the Celts.
Yeah, you're a known call out.
But John, maybe you have us on hold and you just don't know it.
Dean or I'm sorry.
Dave and Rockport on the piece.
Go ahead, Dave.
Hey, sugar.
I want to talk about swimming a little bit.
Now, I know you've been ragging on him all year.
Body's overpaid.
And, you know, he's not worth it.
And yet I think in this last couple of months, he's really proved his value.
And if you look at like the article that was in the athletic,
like a week ago, they looked at all the gold centers.
And, you know, he's really not not really overpaid.
And I think swimming really has done a job of kept us in these these games.
He's, you know, really a good player.
And I think I know you don't apologize.
But I think you should apologize to him.
Apologize to him?
Yeah, the swimming.
Could you been ragging on him all year?
I still want to give him that contract.
Apologize to him.
Do you have his number or something?
Should I like text him?
No, I don't have his number unfortunately.
Okay.
You know, you know, you know, you also said Apologize for him.
Remember back in November when.
Backward got the puck in the mouth.
And you were right.
And he said something about trying to get back for the Olympics.
And then that's in February.
And then you said, I, you know, he doesn't can't shoot for the.
You shouldn't be the captain and.
All this stuff because he's not a team player.
And then a month later, he's back with the fish ball playing for the broons.
He's playing with the fish ball in the Olympics.
How come they don't make a.
I don't teach left.
Dave, why don't they make him?
Why don't they make him the captain?
I don't care if he's a captain.
Now, but I'm talking about you.
You were bad.
I'm not the man.
So I should.
So I have to apologize to him too.
Yeah.
Do you have his number?
I apologize to him both.
Do you have his number?
But I know you probably won't.
I don't know why I'm apologizing.
Is that guy from Chicago?
Apparently.
Is that exactly a Boston accent?
Keep me their numbers.
And I'll send them an apology.
Ryan and Waltham.
Go ahead, Ryan.
So I just want to ask you two questions here.
Are you having trouble sleeping at night after those dreamy swimming takes?
And two, what is it going to take for you to accept that he's a great gold tender on a great contract?
Because he's playing out of his mind right now.
He's probably playing like the best gold tender in the league.
And they lead the league in penalty minutes.
He's playing out of his mind.
And I've said that for weeks.
He's playing out of his mind.
I would not give him that contract.
Absolutely not.
I would not give any gold tender that contract.
I think it's a mistake to overpay a net.
And ultimately, you'll see why.
Ultimately, you'll see that the best teams win and not the best gold tender.
That that's what's going to.
It's only going to take you so far.
And at the end of the day, you're better off spreading your money across the roster than you are just putting in one guy in net.
Because you can't win that way anymore.
Not really if you ever could.
I think that's been oversold to you.
But I'm not going to obviously.
He's obviously been incredible.
It's been great to watch like an old school sort of goalie on an absolute heater putting on his back.
And that's what you're seeing right now with Jeremy Swim.
Yeah.
Just terrific.
Like in the third period in overtime, you know, he didn't make have to make a lot of saves after the first period.
But at the end of the game, he had to make a handful of big ones that he did.
Most of the first two Bruins calls right out of the gate.
Congratulations, guys.
You sound like Celtics fans.
How about Greg and Ashbrahim?
Yes, Greg on the Red Sox.
Yeah.
So I think what we all need to realize here is that this is the offense that we're going to have for the remainder of the year.
Unless they do something at the trade deadline.
The thing though is, is if you're going to play this run prevention stuff, we can't be running into outs like the ran game picked off at first days.
And you guys just kind of took the wind out of my sales with what you started with.
But that's what I was going to call for is Duranga and picked off at first and then Durban.
I mean, even that second swing wasn't great.
He clearly misread what was coming and he was beat before the pitch even came there.
So they're going to play this type of stuff.
They got a score with runners and scoring position because those are the only chances that they are going to have.
I think you've built a nice mid market team tonight.
And I don't know how much better you are over last year if at all.
Go ahead.
Two for 21 with runners and scoring position in these two losses the last couple of days.
It's the same thing as last year.
In a lot of ways, I get it.
It's three games new season.
But through these three games, they look like the same team as last year.
Just a worse version of it.
Yeah.
They're still terrible runners and scoring position.
They suck defensively.
Shakey bullpened work.
Nice job.
Greg Weissert.
And now there's less pop in the lineup.
Alex Breggman, by the way, two for four yesterday with the Cubs,
with those two hits were two home runs.
You don't miss him.
Like, come on.
And the young guys who we all like, they both, I believe in the extra innings on Saturday,
with the ghost runner, both Anthony and Meyer.
I think it was Anthony in the 10th and Meyer in the 11th or flip it.
The bull, those two let off with the runner on second.
I think Meyer struck out and Anthony flew out and the runner did an advance.
They didn't even advance.
They weren't even productive at bats.
And that's been a problem as well.
Yes.
Did they even touch?
Did they even teach productive at bat?
You know what I mean?
No.
Are we back to that?
Yes.
They're both just trying to jack it out of the park.
Probably.
Not move them over.
Not move it to the right side.
Forget about laying down a bot.
Like, forget about.
I'm not even expecting that.
But a quote unquote productive out that moves the runner.
Didn't they have any clue how to do that or have been instructed to how to do that?
No.
No.
In fact, I think I think Meyer even said something like that during spring training.
About how, you know, the minor leagues teach you how to get to the big leagues.
That's what they taught us down there or something like that.
And I, you know, is that sort of comment?
But oh, man, the mistakes they're making now.
It really is.
It's like the beginning of last year all over again.
How about time in water town?
Go ahead, Tom.
What do you got?
Well, I like to know what world we live in where.
Cassidy gets fired for essentially the same reason as you did here.
And their solution is higher toward a runner.
That's awesome.
Cassidy was too serious.
Too hard on the players.
So usually you go hard ass to players, coach, hard ass to play.
And you go ping pong back and forth, but like they did here with that dope Jim Montgomery.
And now they're kind of back to a hard ass in Marco's term.
Like that's the general thing.
You don't go Cassidy.
Oh, the players don't like him.
Let's give him torts.
Yeah, here's an even bigger red ass to berate you.
And that owner of the Golden Knights is a nut.
He, I wouldn't put this past him.
Like, oh, you're, you're mad that the coach was mean.
Here's an even bigger dick for you to deal with that for the final eight games of the season.
I mean, really, you never see it like that.
You never see an A hole for an A hole.
Like that.
He's sort of up.
It's the opposite.
The A hole fails because he's too much of an A hole.
So we're going to give you a bigger A hole.
Right.
But that's interesting theory, Murray, that the owner so fed up with the, the room.
It's like, oh, you don't like him.
We'll try this guy on for size.
Right.
We didn't have enough of an A hole.
That's why we give you a bigger one.
Steven Carver.
Go ahead, Steve.
Hey, Mike.
So every time you talk about the Bruins, you always say, although they'll make the playoffs
as AT, they'll get bounce in the first round.
I'm not going to accept that because do you know in 2026, since January 1st, they have
the second best record in the NHL.
Do you know what their record is?
It's 26, 6 and 6.
And I think the fact that there was a four week Olympic break gives more merit to that.
They're a legit team because it's hard to, it wasn't just one win streak.
And when I look at the Eastern Conference, there's no juggernauts.
Mike, you're telling me they can't beat Detroit or Pittsburgh.
Or Buffalo or Columbus in a seven game series.
There's no juggernauts in the East.
But yeah, 26, 6 and 6 in the year of 2026, second best record in the NHL.
Sure.
I'll give him a chance.
Buffalo is better and Tampa is better and Caroline is better.
But that doesn't mean you can't win.
I mean, you can win those series.
And but the rest of it.
Yeah, you might even expect them to win the rest of it.
I don't know.
You know, they're not in the playoffs yet either.
I'm happy just to go along for the ride and be surprised and be entertained.
Those two games over the weekend were balls.
Yeah, they were good.
They were tremendous.
I mean, on Saturday, they played terrific.
They were really good on Saturday.
And yesterday, they just hung in there and pulled one out in the way they,
the way those two guys threw down at the end of the first period.
We're just absolutely tremendous.
And of course, Postinoct takes a penalty and they go down three nothing.
It wasn't like you bounced back immediately from that.
Postinoct, again, goes to the box and Charlie Coil,
who all of a sudden is Gila Flore in front of the net,
makes it three nothing.
So he didn't immediately respond.
But just those two guys laying out like that.
Again, those two guys in Columbus.
Like those were big fellows.
Those were big, heavy bouts that again,
hurt just watching those in a, you know, two nothing game.
Just to wake up your team.
Just showed you something there.
And they pretty much all played them the rest of the way.
And then got some, I mean, their goals were filthy.
The, the Coil, I'm sorry, the McAvoy.
The first one was, I guess, kind of lucky or leaky.
I still don't know how that went in.
But the Zaka redirect was insane.
Yeah.
He's, he's on fire.
But what a play between him and McAvoy.
McAvoy put it on his stick and him to redirect it in the corner.
It was just so elite and filthy.
And you made a count on the six.
I mean, it's tremendous.
It's great.
The only thing that might turn me off is bitchy Bruins fans.
Like, that'll get me to root against them.
Listening to you people.
Swam and still overrated.
It's still a stupid contract.
If you put too much money in that, you're bound to be disappointed.
Hey, dummies.
The best team is going to win.
Not the best goalie.
But keep, you know, keep deluding yourself.
And to think in that, that's the way that that goes.
Here's an update with Big Jim and them are right back.
We go.
We look at the goalie.
Oh, my God.
Murray sucks in the play.
That's great.
Not a eight five.
Wonderful.
Good.
The sports hub.
The Celtic fans who came out to Spectrum Center to see the Celtics only
appearance here in Charlotte, North Carolina this season.
And they got to see a treat.
Not only Jason Tainan's best game in his return.
But another milestone night.
For the gap year.
Boston Celtics who will record their 50th win of the year.
And on the road against one of the NBA's hottest teams.
They will clinch their 12th consecutive trip to the NBA playoffs
with eight games to play.
The final score.
Boston 114.
Charlotte 99.
So you heard him once again reference the gap year thing that he's
been doing all year.
It's obviously being put out there by the team.
The team is asking these guys to do this.
Yes, he has Murray points out to me.
There was a bunch of, well, Jalen Brown tweeted out 50 wins
in a gap year.
Shamrock emoji.
So gap year.
The Celtics themselves tweeted out 12th straight playoff
birth.
Fifth straight 50 win season.
Not bad.
For a gap year.
Wrote the Boston Celtics.
So the team is clearly telling these guys.
To say this.
And.
Grandi, of course, just does what the team says.
But so does most of the Celtic media.
Noah Delzel.
This year being a Celtics gap year is going to age as one of the worst
media concocted takes of all time.
And again, that she doesn't write for.
Does she write for the Celtics?
Just like Celtics.com.
CL and S.
But yeah, I mean, she's been there.
So one of their Celtics reporters for a long time.
Okay.
But like that reads as a like Celtics.com.
Yeah, right.
But yeah, she allegedly is independent media.
But.
So this is the state of the media today.
So obviously the Celtics are telling these guys and girls to write it and say it.
And they're doing it.
Murray, your thoughts.
I felt like I was taking crazy pills seeing this last night online.
You know, usually after I watch the game.
Good win.
Good to see Tatum play that way.
And I used to do my usual in bed doom scroll before I go to sleep.
And it made me mad seeing these tweets.
And then this one, like you mentioned this morning from the team themselves.
12th straight play of birth.
50 win season.
Not bad for a quote gap year with the sunglasses emoji.
You don't get to gaslight on this one.
What does the sunglasses emoji mean?
Till you so cool.
We are gap year.
Media made it up.
This isn't a felgar in mass thing.
This isn't a sports radio thing.
You people were the one saying it.
You were the Celtics organization.
Before the start of the season.
It was the team in your media mouthpieces calling it a gap year.
You were preaching gap year gospel.
It was you.
You don't get to turn this around.
And say it's a holes like us.
When you did it.
I said they might finish fourth at worst.
The talk of them being a playing team was madness to me before they tipped off against the sixers.
You and I might we did that broadcast with Gary Washburn.
Even Gary Washburn who is the one guy I can truly respect and can be objective about the team.
Saying well, they might be a playing team.
Seven to seven.
The rate goes like, you ready your mind?
They're better than this.
I thought they'd be better than this.
I never said gap year.
You never said gap year.
You said the same thing.
They'll be better than this.
It's crazy talk that they're going to be a playing team.
As you felt strongly about them.
This ain't us.
It's you.
You used gap year.
You've been using gap year the whole time.
You don't get to say now.
This made the media made it up.
You are the media that made it up.
You used gap year.
Not us.
Don't you think the way the owner handled it?
Single levels of gap year?
Yes.
I mean, they sold.
They sold pieces to get under the luxury tax.
That was like their number one goal to get under the tax, right?
It was as if the organization wrote.
Guys, call it a gap year and then handed it to everyone that covers it.
Another milestone night for the gap year.
How many nights did he refer to it?
Now, now he has this tone too.
I love you, Randy.
But now you're going to add tone to it.
Look at the gap year.
This was your term.
You started saying this back in October.
Now you're going to gaslight all of us and just say,
well, you, you gap year a holes.
You're the gap year a holes.
I always believe that be a good team this year.
You're going to play off team and probably one of the better teams in the East,
even if Tatum didn't come back.
And now you're going to blow about it.
Jay, Jaylen Brown, 50 wins in a gap year, huh?
Shamrock emoji.
Go blow your hole.
The people that pay you.
Not us.
So, you know, I'm like crazy for thinking this.
I saw this.
No, no, you're not crazy at all.
Please.
No, no.
And show you now what I love to.
18 championships, right?
So what is 18, 18 banners?
18 banners.
So you'd like to think the standards in that organization are way up there.
Way, way up there hanging in the rafters with the banners, right?
18 titles.
Now you're going to celebrate 50 wins.
Like you just landed on the moon.
That's what you're going to do.
50 wins.
That's somehow some of the great season.
Celtic teams have won in the 60s.
It's like, so what?
Because it's like this season is some sort of major achievement.
Now that Tatum's back, honestly,
I don't think they're aiming high enough.
This is what excites you.
50 wins.
This is now a standard.
Oh, and by the way, did I mention 12 years in a row in the playoffs.
Hey, how about that?
12 years in a row.
Only one title in there.
I think, is that right?
One title in those 12 years?
Yeah.
One title.
But hey, I had 12 times in the playoffs.
Let's have a parade.
Seriously, that's the standard.
Come on.
I'd like to think people there in the fan base
has reset its crosshairs and something bigger.
You've got a chance.
Get your head out of your ass and out of the clouds.
A few things make me crazy in any aspect of life that down the road,
that what happened, people will try to convince you that didn't happen.
No, this happened.
You called it a gap year.
It was you, the organization, the people that covered the team.
You use this term.
Not us.
You.
Not us.
And now, well, who's going to call it a gap year now?
50 wins in the playoffs, huh?
That was a media made up concoction.
You, A-holes.
What?
Put another milestone night for the gap year.
It's just what the team wants them to say.
Oh, my gosh.
So they say it.
50 wins.
When did that become the goal?
You know, it is interesting for the team that has achieved what they've achieved.
To celebrate that.
It is.
I guess it's just for a team that has excelled at such a level that
perpetually be pleased at such a low bar.
It's amazing.
It is amazing.
You remember the red socks that year they had first to 50?
No, of course.
Yes.
Yeah.
What did that get?
Just over.
I mean, they've been a fun year.
This has been a fun season.
The whole Jalen Brown arc.
The MVP season for him.
Tatum coming back.
They've been a joy to watch, especially these last couple of months.
Only them can take a good product and kind of make it insufferable.
Those tweets went right up my ass last night.
And then the one this morning from the team themselves is like,
okay, one thing.
It's a reporter in a player.
Blah, wait.
The team.
You people put this out there.
You yourselves.
Gap year.
And what?
Oh, please.
It's not us.
It's you.
Long commercial free assignment.
Pack your phones right after this.
Sean and Lawrence.
Go Sean.
He keeps saying like, oh, I didn't actually watch the game.
Whether it's K-Trade Celtics, Bruins, whatever.
Like, isn't your job this talk show supposed to actually watch sports?
So I would say my job is to get you to listen.
That is the job mission accomplished.
Take this job and jump.
Filter in the ass.
I need five.
The sports hub.
Geeky.
To Mac away jumped away from him with pasta and I got it.
Down the far circle.
Try to get it to Linholm.
His shot.
Directed up over the net.
Sit back out in front by pasta and I still is his score.
They score.
Suck again.
We're tying a three.
11 seconds to go.
Bruins have come from three now in the third.
I don't know how the puck stayed out in the first place.
They had some great opportunities starting with the face off.
They got possession and put that puck on net.
And then it's just a free throw.
Hang it in there.
Keep it the puck in the zone.
And eventually they get the bounce that they need.
Pass that out in front.
They don't allow coil to clear it.
And this puck comes to Zaka.
He's below the hash marks.
Point blank and he's able to chip it home blocker side.
On griefs.
Chip away.
Chip away.
C'mon.
Chip away.
C'mon.
Zaka.
A little puck left there.
But they had to work for it.
Full credit to the Bruins.
But if we're being honest.
That's why Columbus is Columbus as well.
They set it on the broadcast or the TV side anyway.
Columbus had allowed the most.
I'm sorry.
Second most six on five goals in the NHL.
Yeah.
Nine of them I believe before that game.
So they had given up the second most six on five goals in the league.
So they were vulnerable in that spot.
Then they take a penalty.
Now you're six on four.
And beers mentioned it there on the replay.
The guy that really screwed the pooch on that play was Charlie Coil.
He comes down low and watch it again.
The puck sort of dribbles in front of the net.
And he tries to stick handle with it.
He tries to sort of cradle the puck to I think sort of scoop it on his backhand out of the zone.
But he tried to stick handling move down low.
With bodies flying everywhere in the clock ticking in the puck in front of the net.
You just whack that thing.
Just hack it.
Hack it.
Hack it to the corner.
Hack it out of the zone.
Hack it.
You just take a big wallop and just get it out.
It's ten seconds.
You get it into the corner.
That's almost the game.
You whack it out of the zone.
It's the game.
But either way, you can't be fughts in with the puck.
With you know, six on four and bodies flying everywhere.
And he tried.
He tried to cradle the puck down there.
And Arvetson made a really good play.
Boken it away.
And getting it to Zaka.
Who's unconscious right now?
Oh my gosh.
Again, I just punched it up to see what the numbers are.
The last half season.
Okay.
And it's been even hotter.
But do you realize he's got a basically a point of game for the last 38 games?
He's got 11 goals in March.
He's got 20 goals in his last half season.
You know, this is like, you know, so look, I'm not.
I'm not sure what he is.
He's playing the best hockey he's ever played with the Bruins.
And it's had a great time.
And the goal that made it three, two, you were on the power play.
The penalty that they called on Columbus to give you that power play
was the weakest ass stuff you will ever see.
You got some good break.
Columbus is Columbus.
And so, you know, that factor is in there too.
A Saturday to me was really the game where I opened my eyes and wow.
Like they really, and you know, Minnesota is in the middle of a road trip.
Minnesota has solidified their spot out west.
I think they're going to.
I think they even know their first run opponent almost.
Like I think they're like have nothing nowhere to go.
But they get over 90 points.
That's a damn good team.
Damn good team.
What I'm saying is, Murray, that I don't know if you're getting Minnesota.
They're absolute best.
Five o'clock start on a Saturday in the middle of a east coast trip for them.
And they're, they have nothing to play for.
So, you're not getting them.
I don't think fully gunned, if you will.
That being said, you showed really well against a really good team.
There was a, there was a shift in the second period if you watch that game.
Where the Bruins held possession for enough time for them to swap out their line three times.
Is that right?
I miss Saturday's game.
And it's on, it's, you know, it's, that's the, the quote unquote long change for your, your D.
You know, but what, what, what, when you're in the offensive zone, it's, it's the short change.
They swapped out three, they had three line changes on one offensive possession in the second period of that game.
And Passenach came in and hit Albertson across the seam and he buried it with a little flutter ball for.
I think I made it three, nothing at the time.
Maybe two, I don't remember what goal that made it, but it was just an incredible, incredible shift.
That they had in that game.
There was a move that Passenach made five minutes into the second period of that game.
He didn't score on it.
But if someone clipped it and put it on the internet, you should see it.
He has this move where he sort of drags it from behind him and then spins around and rings the post.
It was so filthy.
That half the time he turns out over whatever.
But if you have a chance to go see that, we didn't score on it.
But go look it up five minutes into the second period on, on Saturday was just insane.
There was this great little low pass by Reiko on the rebound to lend home.
That maybe that did make it four to one.
I can't, I didn't write the scores on the goals.
But this Reiko who's given, show me a little something.
He's got some speed.
I had this insane little pass down low off the rebound to give a lend home was walking up to basically an empty net goal.
And these are just things I wrote down watching on Saturday.
Do I just start giving Casey middle stat just like a little bit of credit?
Maybe.
Just a little.
Is he growing into something or is he becoming something or is it just taking him longer?
Because he's, he's been okay.
He's been on that, that second line, right?
That the Zachum middle stat and Arvinson, is that the one?
I think that's right.
He's given him a little bit of something.
They have a lot of guys who've been, you know, who I would say are having above average years.
You know, he's one of them.
How many guys they have, they have like 15 goals.
So Saturday, yesterday was just an incredible fun, great comeback against a team.
That kind of wants to choke.
Saturday was a game if you wash it.
That's the one that should have opened your eyes to see.
Well, what's their ceiling?
That Saturday game against Minnesota is their ceiling.
And if they can play like, and I don't know if they can.
Like, I think they may have played over their skis on that.
But if they can, then they can skate with anyone.
Because Minnesota is one of the best teams in the league.
Back your phones here.
Would zip through a couple of these.
Matt New Bedford, go Matt.
What happened to Bruins fans?
I just have to apologize to Charlie Mackenzie and Jeremy Sleeman.
This is ridiculous.
Are we going to have to apologize to the invisible man now because he's finally woken up and done his job?
I mean, these you guys need to bring back the tool bag of the day and start shaming these losers back into their holes to never call again.
Thank you guys have a great day.
Okay, my pleasure.
I blame.
I blame Port Noyan Barstool and just the internet culture like I'm just resigned to it.
No, but I like the idea of bringing back the tool bag of the day.
I think we should do it even if it's not sponsored.
Someone.
So, you know, it's women's having a great stretch, tremendous.
But start the clock on him when he signed the contract from the beginning of the 2024 25 season to now.
Tell me where he ranks and tell me has he been worth the money.
So, I mean, in that in that span, he might be a top 10 goalie.
I don't know.
He might be a top five goalie.
I don't know.
I'm honestly asking, but you just can't take, is he worth the contract?
Well, you know, I mean, I can take a month sample from last year and show you the worst goalie in the league.
Give me a minute and I'll have it for you.
You're giving me a month sample now that he's the best goalie in the league.
Okay, but that's not how you do that.
What's he been since he signed the contract?
They missed the playoffs once and are seven seed the second year.
I would not look at that and go, oh, look at that.
How smart are they?
They have the second highest money deferral in that in the NHL for the last two years.
And in that time, they missed the playoffs and are a seven seed.
And you're going to sit here and say, see, what are you freaking stupid?
Or you just a bitch because you, because you're online and that's just like the first thing that you do.
Oh, I didn't like them.
Well, that tape didn't age well.
You have a brain.
You think for yourself.
But since it's since he signed the contract, what is he?
What are they?
Out of the playoffs one year, the seven seed the next.
I would not be beating my chest about how smart they were to sign the goalie.
But listen, we still got a ways to go and hopefully they keep going.
Here's a Murray's update, 90 seconds, no commercials.
And we're back with a weekend of ABS in Major League Baseball.
Felger & Massarotti
