Buckeyes head to Texas as underdogs | Wild for Wilder

I love it. We're going to talk all about the Texas game on today's show. Also, how about this freshman class for Ohio State? Curry Wilder looks like a stud. There are many others. Jay Timon's legend, Bay. We could go on and on and on. And we're going to talk about those freshmen on today's show. And more. All right, I'll talk to you guys soon. Good morning, Buck Nudder. Welcome to the Buck Nuts. I'm Dave Bittel. I'm joined by the People's Champ, Matt Baxendale. I tell you what, man, I mean, it's not often Ohio State is an underdog.

1:07They were not an underdog at all last year. Where are they? I don't think they were. I don't think so. I think they were favored by a point against Texas. They were slightly favored against Texas. They were slightly favored against Indiana. And they were favored by a touch down over Miami. So Buck Guys are an underdog going to Texas. One and a half point underdogs. I like that. I like really Ryan Day and the guys really pay attention to points, breads, but just from following this team as long as I have an Ohio State is an underdog. They just come out with like their hair on fire. You know, and a point and a half is almost nothing. What's the old axiom is that three points is the home field advantage, right? So that's the bookies essentially saying we'd pick Ohio State in a neutral field, but since it's at Texas, we're going to give them the edge. It means virtually nothing. But at the end of the day, Ohio State is, I think the last thing we're an underdog was at Oregon two years ago. Does that sound right? That sounds right. Yeah. Yeah. And that was a one point game. So we would have covered it a point and a half. Anyways, you got to feel good about Ohio State at that point. Anyways, you know, I think at the end of the day with the Buck Guys, it doesn't mean a thing.

2:09You got to come out. You got to execute and you got to show that you can be to pretty good Texas team for the third time in three years. And that's really all that matters. This is kind of noise. This is the Nick Saban Rat poison, if you will. Yeah. It's interesting about Texas is like, Will Mustchan might be just a phenomenal hire as defensive coordinator, but we don't know. It might not be. He isn't called a defense in a long time. He obviously was a great defensive coordinator, partly that and the head coaching job took over for urban at Florida, then was South Carolina. We hasn't called a defense in a long time. What do you make of a mustchan? Well, you know, here's the thing. We all know is track record of being a good defensive coach and a really good recruiter. It's interesting he's a Texas because remember for a while, he was the head coach and waiting under Mac Brown. Yeah. And then that obviously didn't happen. He didn't want to wait. So what it could have should have is there for Texas after that long spell that they had where they were really, really bad. I mean, really, it wasn't so sarcasy and came back that they really found themselves again,

3:10which is crazy to say that Texas was bad at football for as long as they were, but it was the truth. I think Mustchan was going to be very interesting to watch here, though, because I don't think he's going to have like a Matt Patricia style impact on this Texas team, right? Patricia was a defensive coordinator for years. He was only a head coach for a couple of years. He came back to OSU and got back to doing what he did best. Mustchan last time he was a defensive coordinator, it was like 10, 12 years ago. So we'll see. I'm sure he'll do well, but it's a big step back into sort of that chess match side of things that I don't know how that's going to go going against an Ohio State offense. It's very well, very well situated to take advantage of some of the stuff that Texas is currently trying to figure out on defense. Arch Manning. I think we're all like, we remember Arch looking completely lost in the opener last year. He's obviously not the same quarterback. He's got a bunch of starts under his belt. He actually looked better, a lot better toward the end of the year last year. What do you make of Arch? What do you expect out of Arch this Saturday?

4:11I think this is a defining game for him in terms of what he's going to be seen as the rest of the year going into the NFL draft, which I think we all know that's been their plan was two years for him to start. The tree that he was terrible against Ohio State last year. He couldn't read a play. He made one really nice pass to make it 14 to 7, but we didn't even really take the shrink wrap off the offense in that game for Ohio State because we got it by two touchdowns and it looked like Texas couldn't do anything. But at the time they scored, it was so late that they just kind of ran the ball out to try to get the game clock over with. Watching him down the stretch last year against some of the defensive teams at Referrily Week, he made some big plays. Texas was behind in a number of instances last year and they came back to win. Maybe he started to show some of that potential. Arch was always a long-term project. I mean, you and I used to giggle over the high school videos they would show him going against guys that look like middle school teams here in Ohio. But at the end of the day, Archmaning the general consensus on him is that if his name

5:14wasn't manning, he wouldn't be getting anywhere near the hype that he's getting. This is for him a chance to prove that, hey, maybe he is worth the hype. And the one thing I think about Arch that we all forget sometimes is he's very athletic. He can actually run pretty well for a quarterback. I think that scares me more than some magical him developing into Uncle Peyton. I don't think you're going to see that. But I could see him moving enough in the play breaks down to be able to extend drives. That's much more dangerous to me than him suddenly being a Heisman level quarterback. I don't think we're going to see that from him. But if he can extend drives with his feet, that's a scary concept for us in terms of trying to defend the Texas offense. As Jason San here on Facebook on our live chat, he said, I'd call it defining for San too. Some folks say he isn't good against solid competition. I tell you what, I won't say Julian's flying under the radar. That probably is in the right term. But it almost feels like adjacent to that backs because like this kid, I tell you what, if he puts on a show, like I think he will Saturday night, not to put on a show, like he's going to go out there and throw for 400 yards and no high as it's going to win by 30.

6:14But like if he goes out there and wins this game and plays well, the narrative is going to completely change on Julian. The people that don't have him, this isn't everybody. But I'll see people that will rank like the top 10 quarterbacks in college football. He won't be on the list. Again, that's not everybody. But some people, I think that's blasphemy. This is going to be huge for Julian on Saturday. And I'm confident in him. Yeah. And the thing Julian saying has that when we're talking about archmaning, Julian saying is one of the most accurate passers I've ever seen in college football. I mean, where he places the football is always in an extraordinarily catchable place. And that is, you know, if we're talking about a paid manning style player on these two teams, it's Julian. Julian's the one who's going to sit in the pocket and hit these passes. We were thrilled to see him step up and run for it on fourth down for a touchdown last week showing that extra ability to, you know, take off what he needs to look. Yes, good there. I think Julian got a really big knock from a lot of people for losing his last two games last year. I think he got a really big knock for some of those field QB sneaks. And I think that guess what?

7:15Everybody has a little bit of adversity they have to go through in life. And his is fairly minor, but it is a very big game for Julian saying. So you go on the road and you beat Texas. That kind of makes sure that people realize that you're for real. So yeah, I think it's a big opportunity for Julian saying to show that he's the top of the draft kind of player that, you know, I know he wants to be. I just love everything about him like the his attitude. I mean, obviously, the quarterback, we know like the accuracy, the quick release, I think he's processing better. He has grown into a leader like he and it's not like, oh, he's the quarterback. We got to make him like a fake leader like he came out and talked to the media yesterday at the Ryan day. And he just handles himself like he's like an NFL veteran. And I'm just so impressed. He's bulked up a little bit. As you said, he had that. And my favorite play the whole game was his touchdown run. Nothing against legend based. And it's kind of like legend based touchdown reception as well. How electric that was. Now Reggie Bush asked that was, but seeing Julian step up and he kind of downplayed. He was like, yeah, I just saw this big lane. I just took it.

8:15No big deal. You know, he had zero rushing touchdowns last year. And you had to lay in there. But you had to make a couple guys miss kind of. But he downplayed. I just I just love where his attitude is. He's he's worked hard in the off season to bulk up a little bit. He's never going to be a huge guy. He's not as small as some people think. I can't wait. This is awesome that we have this game. Good on Texas and good on Ohio State for playing this game. This is what we this is why we love college football stuff like this. All right. Another reason I love college football is seeing guys like Cari Wilder. Hello. I knew he was going to play backs. I did not think for a second he was going to be out there like early in the first quarter plan detackle and Reggie Whiting dudes to the ground with one arm. Dude, this kid is a stud. And here in Kenyatta Jackson talk about him yesterday. People are like, well, who would you compare him to? He's like, I can't think of a comparison. He's like one of a one of a kind. He's like, he's going to be an absolute stud here. Like an absolute stud. He could might be an absolute stud this year. Again, I know I know it was ball state. It was one game, but I am really impressed with 34 out there. Yeah. For what we've seen that I at though everything you said.

9:18I mean, look, the reality is is it the end now. It's a very different animal against Texas. The big 10 will be a very different animal than ball state. Ball state is like not as hard as playing against the back. Up on OSU. It's the simple truth. There's just more talent in a place like OSU than ball state. I mean, they started a five foot 10, 250 pound quarterback for God's sake. But at the end of the day, it was a great debut. He did produce. And you know, you can roll your eyes when you owe quality of opposition or whatever. Well, the guy went out and did his job. And now he goes out and does his job this weekend. Then it's going to be more of maybe that's who he is. Maybe that guy really is a dude already. So you know, that's a great sign for OSU. It's another good sign of them being able to identify really talented high school guys appropriately and recruiting. And you know, it also helps you in the future with future talented guys when they see a young guy out there doing things like this early on. It only helps saying that the coach is going to play the guys that deserve it. And that's the number one thing you need to be able to recruit top guys to say you're going to get a fair shot no matter what your age is no matter what.

10:19So I'm happy to see it. Let's see some more of it before we can decide it's for real right away. But that was that was exciting to watch. We'll get to the offensive line in a minute and Philip day. And as I asked Coach Day about that yesterday, I do want to talk more about this freshman class that we knew this was a good class. And I tell you what this is on the heels of another good class that they had last year. Freshman class guys coming in right away and playing meaningful roles. I didn't think anybody would be a starter out of this freshman class. And Jay Timman's technically didn't start, but he's the number one nickel. They just started in a 4-3 defense because Ball State is a run mostly a running team. And TJ all forgot to start good for that young man. And Riley and Eddick on play the ton. Those four linebackers, I mean really, Petagion and Alfred had more to snaps. Now, without have been the case that was a close game maybe because they were in there early. It wasn't like, I mean, Alfred started and Petagion was in there early in the first quarter. So those top four linebackers. And frankly, in the first game, Petagion and Alfred look better than Pearson, Allegro. All four of those guys are going to play a lot. But like Timmans, we knew about that. I didn't know Luke Fahey was going to push Tavy and St. Clair for the number two job.

11:21Let alone win it, Bax. Yeah, that's a legend. I mean, Jay Timmans like being the number one Nicholas Hughes because like they have pretty good depth in the secondary. And he just won that job. I mean, on and on, we mentioned Cari Wilder. This freshman class, they got a bunch of guys. I mean, Simion Caldwell is the top backup safety. Over Terry Moore. Over Terry, Timion Caldwell played the third most snaps out of the safeties. Jalen McLean, Earl Little and Simion Caldwell. They got a bunch of, even Demari Simion, a defensive tackle had like six snaps. Drake Quinn was out there. They've got about 10 freshmen, including Fahey is the backup quarterback. They're playing meaningful roles on this team. That's great. You mentioned Chris Henry Jr. and White Lightning. I did mention all 10. You're right. I did mention White Lightning and Chris Henry Jr. But thank you. Chris Henry Jr. had an innocent, vicious debut. But I'm glad he got that touchdown late. I agree. And I'll turn over to you now. I'll start for interrupt you. I love that we have eight Texas guys on this team. Ohio State has eight Texas guys.

12:22All of them are playing six of them are starters. The ones that aren't starters are a pedagon who plays a ton and Brock Boyd who plays a ton. So they basically have like, I'm including Connor Hawkins as a starter. Obviously, hopefully you can nail a few or two. I think that's huge having like eight Texas guys on Ohio State's roster. And they all play meaningful roles. Most of them are starters. Well, that's different than it used to be back in the day. I remember we did the home at home with Texas 20 years ago. And Vince Young and Troy Smith were starting those games. And I think nobody on Texas was from Ohio and like one or two Ohio guys were on Texas. Like from Texas. It was I think maybe Jordan Hicks. So one year was the only Ohio and on Texas. Like, it's not that overlap regionally 20 years ago that you have today now. When you recruit nationally at a place like Ohio State, you know, since urban came, we've been all over having Texans at Ohio State. I mean, like every now and then under trestle, you'd have an ash in your body or a J.B. shoe guard show up. But it was, I mean, pretty much urban and now Ryan Day.

13:24Every year, we're pulling in a handful of Texas kids. And a bit of that awe about going, oh, wow, we're going to Texas. Kind of goes away because those guys like, yeah, we want to Texas. Let me chose not to go there. You know, so I think that that swagger that comes from that a little bit is going to be very interesting to watch as well. And David, you've been here in all the reports. Everybody's like, oh, my gosh, the weather. It's going to be so hot. And I'm like, guys, they have to play in the weather too. And a bunch of these kids are from down south. Anyways, it's not like it's a bunch of farmboys from Ohio that the second humidity hits them. They lose 30 pounds in sweat. So it's a totally different ball game. I'm not that worried about it with all the intermixing nationally we have in recruiting them and all the different home states. I think Ohio State is kids from like 30 states or something crazy on the roster. It just that's the way college football goes these days. So I think having the Texan guys, they're going to be more than ready to play in this game. It'll be exciting to see. Yet another Texas guy, Devon McEwen, not too far down the road from Austin. Was not recruited by Texas. Had to go to UT San Antonio.

14:26This dude is a stud. We knew he was going to be a starter, one of the top three receivers. He's clearly wide receiver too. And I think Brandon and his looks good. This is nothing against Brandon. He's tough. He had a couple of big first down catches in the game. We got to hit in the family jewels and that punt return late and glad he's OK. But Devon McEwen, man. I mean, Ryan Day raised eyebrows when he said last week, he's as good as we've had here. And some people myself included said, he's not saying he's as good as like every receiver they've had here. He means just like holistically. Maybe he does mean just as good as any receiver they've had here because this kid is legit. For Ryan Day to compare him to Chris Alave, I was like, that was like, because you don't hear Ryan Day do stuff like that. I've never heard him compare another wide receiver to Chris Alave. Devon McEwen's a stud. He's another Texas guy. You could see it though, watching him run the routes very crisply. They're similar sized receivers as well. McEwen to me looked like what you would expect from an upper-classman transfer that was

15:26Uber productive coming in. He's extremely polished. His hands were right in position for the catch. A lot of times he wasn't bringing him up as the ball was coming in. He was making very sharp routes and cuts. Every time I saw him on the field, he was doing something that impressed me. By the way, wide receivers in general got a lot better at run blocking as the game went on too. I need to throw that out there. Those long extended runs that we broke off in the third quarter. There are some big plays by the wide receivers, a couple of infreshmen, I think on Jackson's touchdown. But at the end of the day, I think Brock Boyd actually beat him to the end zone blocking a guy, which is awesome to see. But McEwen, I was blown away by how he looked like some five-star that had been here for a couple of years. It was his turn to finally start. Not some kid we recruited in from UT San Antonio, which wasn't even at the UN School until six years ago. I mean, that's a game changer because it's good as ines is.

16:29Ines is a slot guy. Ines probably shouldn't be your number two. The fact that McEwen is your number two is scary. This offense looks like it might not miss a beat and we lost the number one receiver who was the top five pick in the draft last year. That's what's crazy. Like you lose the top receiver taken in the NFL draft. Number four overall pick in Cardinal Tate. You lose Quincy Porter, Miley and Graham to Notre Dame. It was Bryson Rogers to South Florida with Brian Hartline. BP Miller went to Washington and they're deeper than they'd been at any point during the Ryan Day era at wide receiver. It's incredible. That guy's like Philip Bell who looks really good as a partner turner by the way. If one for a couple holding penalties, he had a couple really good partner turns. He looks good. Desi Jones is in there. We talk about the two freshmen with Brock Boyd and Chris Henry Jr. Those are four and five. We're going to get Kyle Parker back eventually. I don't know if they'll be this week. They'll get Kyle Parker back eventually. And you got Philip Bell, Desi Jones, Jirquayton, Guildford's a guy they like.

17:30I mean, it's crazy to lose Cardinal Tate for guys to the portal. And like you have the best depth you've ever had at wide receiver. When this has been wide receiver, you for the last however many years. Yeah. And like we got the watch too. I mean, Chris Henry was open a lot. His hands just kind of failed him a little bit in this game. I mean, his first two opportunities to catch the ball were a drop touchdown. Not if I was not a defended ball. That was a drop guys. I'm sorry. And then another drop, which was a perfect throw from Luke Faye. They want it to be a pick. It was the most undeserved pick in the history of quarterbacks, not deserving picks. Luckily he caught a touchdown late from St. Clair. Hopefully he can kind of wash that and hold onto the ball when it comes to him on the field here. The rest of the way through. But I mean, this receiver group is very, very deep. It's that simple. It's very deep. And the problem, I think, for the depth of it is, is that if McEwan and Jeremiah continue to be as good as they were in this game, the depth is going to have trouble getting on the field because those guys were so good. Jeremiah had one driver. It was like five catches and 75 yards in a touchdown. That's a game for a good game for most players.

18:33But Jeremiah, I'm like a drive. So right. His that first touchdown, watching the live, I was like, oh, Jeremiah, good coverage. He just caught it. Great hand. And I watched the replays. Everybody did. He basically pinned it against his head. That was great covers by the DB. Yes. Great throw. Great coverage. Great catch. I mean, that was just good football right here. He's holding the ball out from his body up at the ref. I have it while being tackled. How strong are his hands? On the way down. He just palms it and holds it. I know. He just like, and then his second his second touchdown, you had both ball state receivers right there like on the plane. They're like, he's out of bounds. He's out of bounds. And they showed the replay and he had two feet in. Two feet and I've got to catch down in the NFL, my friends. I get it. The ball state DBs are like, no, I had to be out of bounds, right? That's Jeremiah Smith. Let's calm down. That's that's what normal humans look like when they see a robot. Like, I don't know what else to say. Like Jeremiah is like, you know, brought back in the past to change the future of one lucky football team. Like he's like, he's insane.

19:34I don't know how else to put it like. And I, and there are people who are like, oh, great analysis. Jeremiah Smith's insane. I don't know what else we can say people. He's the best player in college football. He's the number one player in the next draft. It's not a quarterback. He will be taken to the top two or three. And he's been this good since the moment he arrived on campus. This is a, this is a real generational player. Everybody talks about generational talent. Like, oh, he's a generational talent. He's a generational talent that's thrown around so much. This is a real life opportunity for you to watch a generational talent. And we at Ohio State would know that. We've had a ton of unbelievable receivers here. And this is the best one. And it's pretty much by consensus. This is a generational receiver at Ohio State. So enjoy him while he's here because he, I mean, you could tell me he has 10 catches in 160 yards every game this year. And I go, yeah, that seems like reasonable for who he is. That simple. All right, it's been sunshine and roses for most of the show here. Let's talk offensive line specifically right tackle.

20:35Ball State's going to be the worst defense they play all year. Maybe second worst. We'll see about 10 state. See, they're going to be the worst for the second worst defense they play all year. Couldn't run the ball in the first half. They got it going and they can throw the ball at will after the first three now. They had a miscommunication and Julian misfired to Devin. And then Julian then comes back and hits his next 10 passes. But Texas, you know, and we'll see what Muscam does. They have a talented defense. They're talented across the board. Obviously, there's two of most talented teams in the country facing off. But I'm concerned about when I asked Ryan Day about it yesterday, back. He obviously is not going to announce at the Tuesday press conference like, oh, yeah, we're making a personal change. We're benching Filip Daniels. But I tell you what, my translation of that idea of translating day peace was like Filip Daniels is on the shortest of leashes. And it's not just him though. Even tire offensive line needs to play better. Yeah, it was a very poor first half. This would have been if we hadn't had those two big runs for touchdowns at the start of the third quarter, this would have been the number one story we would have been talking about.

21:36Right. If the final score was 42 to 3 Ohio State, it would be Buck Eysdominate Ball State can't run ball. You know, that's that's literally what it would have been because we average like less than three yards of carry in the first half against a ball state. That's a formula for not winning big football games and not winning big tens and not winning national titles. If you can't run the football against ball, freaking state. And the honest of God's truth is watching it, it was poor offensive line play. They let free guys through all the numerous times. There's one player where they pitched it wide to Bo Jackson and the announcers on the TV were like, oh, if he cuts it back up, he got the ball looked up and there's a guy at yard and a half in front of him. Like, it was like a free runner. That happened a lot. And then how many times did he feel Daniels chasing after a guy like, come back here, come back here. Oh no. Great. Like that was one of the most disappointing offensive line performances in general in that first half that I can remember. And I got better in the second half. They opened up some big holes to lose big runs.

22:37But if that's how the O line plays in Austin, we're going to be very concerned because you have to be able to run the football. Even if you're in a Ryan Day offense, you have to be able to run the football. I hope part of that. This is probably wishful thinking. Maybe there's something to it. I hope and I was thinking this during the game. Hopefully that was partially Ohio stages being extra vanilla with their run concepts, not wanting to show Texas too much. I don't, but you still got to be better than that. I don't. How do you not push around a team that's way inferior to you? I agree. You and I can talk about concepts all day, Dave. The offensive line is in the trenches is the simplest place. Beat the guy in front of you. That's your job. Drive him back. Drive him to the outside. Whatever your assignment is going to let him buy you. It's just one-on-one. Can you beat your guy? Yeah, that's the thing. Even if it was vanilla, you got to push ball state around. They looked like they were confused with things that are not even that exotic that somehow confused them. Stunts and twists. You do that in junior high football. It's not that exotic if you're doing it in middle school football.

23:38They were fighting so bad on stunts. It was not even funny. It was like, two guys go this way, free guy. What the? Do you guys talk? I'm sorry. That's the first thing an offensive lineman learns after don't move until the snap. Bowen's a great recruiter, but like a man. He's leaving a lot to be desired as an online coach. Again, one game, hopefully they're just vanilla and they'll get it going. If they play good against Texas, we'll be singing the O-Lines praises. I hope we'll be singing the O-Lines praises. Well, and that's the other thing too, David. Let's face it, this is Ohio State. Criticism isn't easily hidden. It's amplified. There are media ecosystem players know. I'm sure that group has had a bit of a fire under their butt all week of, we better get it together here. We're going to the belly of the beast. So hopefully that's the case because I can tell you right now, Ryan Day is certainly putting a lot of pressure on that group to get their performance level higher. I can tell you Arthur Smith was probably wildly unhappy at half time with what he was seeing

24:40because he loves to run the football. That's honestly got truth. I was curious who's going to be the starting defensive end opposite Kinyada. Throughout camp we were told we were out there for the first three days of camp. Bo Ackinson, it sounded like Bo was going to be the starter but we knew other guys were going to rotate in there a lot. Zion Grady got the start. I was wondering why there was no Zion Grady buzz. I'm like this kid. Look good as a true freshman last year. Now he's entering a sophomore year. I know he missed spring with a minor injury but I was surprised at the lack of Zion Grady hype and then boom. Number nine's out there starting. Now they played equal snaps. Zion played 26 snaps. Bo Ackinson played 26 snaps. That was interesting to me that Zion Grady got the start. I like that. I think it was an intentional setup to just rotate the guys through not get them too many snaps. Remember this was load management Ryan Day last year too. The guy was trying to shorten every game to try to handle the longer season. I think there was a clear intentional plan to try to play as many guys as possible as early as possible against ball state.

25:40You should. You should be looking at it saying hey we're going to win this game no matter what. Let's get our guys on the field in early moments and later moments so that you know they're only run for some of these younger guys or backups isn't going to be third fourth quarters when the score is not there. Make them on the field when it's close. Make them feel a little bit of pressure in front of a hundred thousand people. I was good with that. In fact the Grady beat Ackinson for the start is a good thing because it shows you got I think Ackinson is a perfectly good player. You know I think you did well last year whenever he was on the field. If you have Grady who's outstripping him enough to start even if they're splitting snaps it's a good thing. It means there's competition going on and you have to have the competition within your team to be able to be the best version of yourself against the opponents. So that's a good thing and I'm glad to see it in Grady was another one of these big freshmen guys that people are going to look at and say well he played as a freshman a lot and he started first game as a sophomore. Ohio State's given fair opportunities and that's you need to have that reputation. If you're going to bring in the best kids.

26:40Speaking of defensive ends one guy that did not play was Kwe Rousa we have Jim on X slash Twitter asking about Kwe Rousa I asked Ryan Day about this yesterday I said you expect to have I heard it was a minor injury he was held out as a precaution. He was over there on the sidelines wearing the number four. I don't think he had a shoulder pads on. It's fun one time they were talking about legend Bay and they showed Kwe Rousa I'm like no. They're not the same thing. Not a new thing. So yeah obviously they wouldn't have had him out there like on the sideline wearing a jersey if he was like if it was like a suspension or something. So I asked Coach Day yesterday I said you expect Kwe Rousa will play this week. He said we expect he will have a full week of practice. This is how he answered it. So he's able to have a full week of practice. Maybe they'll mix that young man in there. Another little chess piece that the Patricia can use. So yeah I mean I don't know exactly what's going on. I heard it was a minor injury and sounds like you know according to Ryan Day's going to full week of practice and we'll be ready to play in this game. 27:43West was taking the ones and Bo got the message and boom it was like a couple days later there were second Bo's praise as Bo was getting the ones. I thought Isaiah was still going to be the back up running back. He still played a decent amount but Jacobi Jackson is RB too. That was interesting. And he looked good other than missing a block. Other than almost getting killed now Filip Daniels initially like messed up and then Jacobi Jackson didn't clean it up but overall I thought Jacobi Jackson looked good and it's interesting that he's RB too. Yeah that is really interesting. So of the most interesting backups discussions the obviously most interesting was Luke Feige going out over Tavy and St. Clair. I mean that's a there's some people who spend it's a M.I.L. money going what just happened but but the he's not getting Bryce underwood money. Yeah he's not obligated to start G.S. Bryce underwood stinks we've been saying that for years. I hope he starts to get to the buck guys this season. Anyways but as for Jacobi look I think we kind of thought A's the third string guy and

28:44he'll get some CJ Donaldson reps. Let's talk about the young guys right. Jackson other than like you said then the one with block where he was very comically like oh right next day like a dead saying. He was good. Like that was he had that huge run. I didn't know he had that breakaway ability that we saw although it did help that Brock Boyd running a guy into the end zone right in front of him for a part of the run and the reality is he's like 24th this point or something too. He's a very veteran player. He's like year seven. So you know he's going to be a very physically developed guy and maybe that old man's strength will be something that we lean into as the year goes on. I don't know. It was certainly a surprise and maybe that was a you know wake up call for Isaiah West and he needed a message or maybe Jackson just took the spot. So one more thing for you to get you out of here. I love that the I love that the Mac came out yesterday and said no we're not accepting this like they're calling for Western mission to be awarded the win.

29:46That's not going to happen even though it should. I love that the Mac is not backing down here because everybody when they first came out and they were just going to like acquiesce. Everybody myself included was like of course they know where their money train is. I mean Western Michigan got 1.5 million for that game against Michigan and ball state. I think got two million. Rutgers paid U-Mass 1.5 million to embarrass them. My point is like a lot of people I get myself included were saying oh yeah the Mac is going to just back down because they don't want to like mess up their gravy train. Nope. And I think that even if Michigan was mad about it like the other 17 big 10 teams are mad at Michigan or mad at the situation. Not really mad at Michigan but mad at the situation. Ohio State wouldn't have any trouble like scheduling Mac teams. I love that the Mac put out that statement yesterday and they're like no we're not just going to sit this down like or sit this out. You know we're going to we're going to like put out a statement that says this is complete BS and everybody the red that unless you're a Michigan thing was like yep complete BS. Good on the Mac. Look at the end of the day the asterisk is back for Michigan winning something.

30:49The reality is that was a win for Western Michigan. Michigan students rushed the field for a win over a Mac school and for that glorious minute that we thought that they had lost that that would have been their first season opening loss since richrod so Kyle Wittingham starting his career richrod style is just perfect for us on the Ohio State and to things who want to see that program ball on its face and get buried face down with his ass in the air. I am joyous at what we saw from Michigan because not only did they should have lost that football game and were bailed out in an embarrassing fashion by a clearly biased conference of replay crew. It was the most biased conference replay crew since the festival in 2019 where the SEC crew screwed Ohio State against Clemson that was entirely a joke and the Mac is right to call it out. It was farcical that Michigan got another shot when the clock was dead and the reality is Michigan stinks.

31:50They couldn't do anything in that game. Underwood stinks. He's not the player they want them to be but they're obligated to play him for 3 million a year and it's Wittingham's first year on a 5 year contract so he can do whatever he wants right now at the end of the day guys. Michigan should be embarrassed. Not only did they lose a football game but then they got bailed out. It's like the mommy and daddy like buying their kid a spot on a team after he gets cut. You're cutting a little Tyler. Here's a $20,000 check to keep him on the team. At the end of the day not only did they do that then they rushed the field. They bought Tyler's spot on the team for 20k and then they threw him a big party to celebrate that he made the team. What are you doing here? If the best part about this day is for some reason somebody that find a friendly judge somewhere and like Kalamazoo that declares that Michigan was the loser of the football game. 32:50you'll sign off and whatever you want him to sign off on but Michigan would have rushed the field for a loss. Please let that happen.
