This is the Bucks Postcast, your instant game reaction for the Milwaukee Bucks, part of
the Lockdown Podcast Network, your team every day.
Welcome in to the locked on Bucks Postcast, a one, 27 to 95 loss again for our Bucks
mathematically eliminated from playoff contention.
Our Yannis Doc Rivers and the rest of the Milwaukee Bucks.
Hello, everyone.
Welcome into the show.
My name is Brandon Snyde.
I'm joined alongside the Wisconsin Badger legend himself, Mr. Brian, but we're going
to dive into our thoughts on this game and I can spoiler alert just so you out there
listening.
It will be pretty quickly as we get through our thoughts on this game as the Bucks get
routed by 32 points at Pfizer for now 29 in 44 on the season.
So we'll dive into that.
We'll get into the the player of the game.
We'll get into the turning point.
We'll we'll make those points quickly.
We got some thoughts on some other things surrounding this Milwaukee Bucks team before
we do get into all that.
They'll quickly reminder, wherever you guys get audio podcasts, you can now listen to
the locked on Bucks postcast we were available on Amazon, Google, Apple, Spotify, wherever
you get audio podcasts, you will certainly find locked on Bucks, we're also free and available
over on YouTube where we are live right now talking about this 32 point route that we
suffered at the hands of Victor Webinyama and the Red Hot San Antonio San Antonio Spurs.
So if you're over on YouTube, number one, after a 32 point loss, thank you as the Bucks
have officially been eliminated, we greatly appreciate it.
Make sure you hit the thumbs up on the videos, make sure you're subscribed to the locked
on Bucks YouTube channel, you'll get me and Brian butch all for the rest of this season.
I shouldn't say all season, but for the rest of the season, then you'll be able to catch
the locked on Bucks, it digitally show with Justin and Frank Madden and Camille Davis as
well and hit that notification bell, always get notified when we go live butchie 32 points
tonight for the Bucks today.
I should say Matt Nay down there in downtown Milwaukee, the Bucks got it.
I want to say within close range in that third quarter, a big third quarter for the Bucks
where they scored 34 points, but outside of that butchie, this one from start to finish,
they quickly found themselves down 13 points after the first quarter and I think everybody
kind of knew the writing was on the wall.
You had a one in three West Coast road trip outside of beating Phoenix, all of those games
were blowout losses for the Milwaukee Bucks and the struggle continues on for this season,
San Antonio Spurs also sweeping the season series over the Milwaukee Bucks.
Let's get into your thoughts on this one butchie, I mean, I don't really know where you
begin on this one.
I don't know what the Bucks necessarily did good in this one.
He had good moments but other than that, another ugly loss in the belt for Doc Rivers and
the Milwaukee Bucks.
Yeah, I'll start here.
I think the biggest thing is I didn't think that effort was an issue.
I thought everyone out there played hard and I think that's what I want to see.
That's if that's my biggest thing the rest of the season is at least put the product
out there.
Sure.
That's going to play hard.
Now, I want to see who's Montjang play better and have more consistency and develop.
Not a good shooting night for him.
It was a terrible shooting night, right?
I mean, 12.6 rebounds, five assists, four steals, he's five of four team.
So there's the development side there that I really want to see.
We don't have to answer the Cam Thomas situation anymore like that's moved on.
There's there's reasons that happened.
There was reasons that Cam Thomas wasn't playing.
Yes, there's my guy, my guy, but she, well, we had a fun moment.
We had a fun moment.
Well, we did.
But there's a reason that we didn't see that.
Now we didn't necessarily know what it was at the time afterwards.
We did.
The release was common sense because you needed to move up Pete Nance and put him to
a full contract.
I'm actually in Green Bay right now as the Wisconsin hardplay 30 minutes from now.
I'll be calling that game on the local TV channel up here.
So like, there's a pulse and all of this stuff that happens.
The development of these players is what I need to see over the next two weeks.
As they finish this thing out, but I thought Pete Nance and the energy, the effort.
I know that doesn't get anything, but this was the best of both worlds, Brandon.
This was a loss and this was a good effort night.
Like, okay, great.
Like that's, that's what I want to see and I, and I expect that.
Like these guys are professional basketball players.
If they don't play hard at the rest of the season, you got to ship them out.
Bottom line.
Like that to me is what this team needs to evaluate as they move forward.
I think, I think you're spot on.
I absolutely agree with, with the effort.
And you got a lot of younger players now playing for, okay, the season's over, right?
The bucks are now mathematically eliminated from playoff contention.
We all knew it was coming.
We were, you know, just counting down the losses until it actually officially happened.
And today it officially happens.
The buck season will end when the regular season ends, but you're right.
Because you got guys like Usman, Jane, Pete Nance, who you've mentioned.
I think Ryan Rounds still has a lot to play for, right?
And seeing what he wants to do for his career.
Not only in Milwaukee, but for the rest of the NBA, AJ Green.
Not another, another horrible day for AJ Green.
Seven points and 27 minutes.
But you have guys that are playing for something.
And you have to at least see something throughout the course of the season.
I look at it today, too, but she for the bucks, it is a 32 point loss.
There's really nothing positive to come out of this.
I thought Gary Tringer had some good moments.
Pete Nance was some good moments.
The bucks had a decent run in that third quarter where they got it within straight distance.
But that was, that was it.
That last said Mitch Johnson, the head coach for this first call to time out.
And it was over within two minutes after that time.
I mean, we'll get into the turning point, but it was a three straight turn over.
Yeah, the sun. It was like that, that, that to me was the turning point of this game.
When you look at it, can I give the bucks some, I'm going to give them one part of this game.
I'm going to give them credit like everything else, it didn't shoot the ball.
Great. They didn't shoot the three ball.
Great. They were 11% but you in that second quarter from three range.
So that was not good.
I'm going to give them credit where something I usually kind of, you know,
ding them on a little bit and it goes to your point.
And the only reason I'm bringing it up is because I agree with you and it goes to your point.
Rebounding is an effort thing and maybe, maybe I'm off base there, but you can
correct it. Yeah, I've got a few more. Yeah, but it is.
Yes, you've got a few more rebounds than I've ever gotten.
So they only lost the rebounding battle by four tonight, right?
No, Yannis.
And this one, I shouldn't mention that.
No, Yannis, no Bobby, Portis, no Kyle Kuzma, no Kevin Porter, Jr.
Oh, by the way, Doc River saying Kyle Kuzma, or excuse me, Kevin Porter,
Jr. will likely be done for the season.
We'll get into where we think Yannis is gone.
They only get out rebounded by four today against that San Antonio.
Spur team against Victor Webb and Yama.
What they do really well is kind of everything that's involved in basketball.
They're the second best record in the NBA for a reason.
So head off to the box, right?
Like offensive rebounds were not at nine a piece and they lost the defense of rebounding by four.
I, you know, I know.
Like we're looking for not we're scratching and clawing for anything that we can possibly
get our hands on.
But today I thought the box, you know, Jericho Sims, again, that's just what he does, man.
22 minutes, 10 rebounds, give, give them a credit when it comes to the effort.
Obviously the firepower was never going to be there for the bucks.
If you're a realistic fan, you already knew that this game was over before it was
probably going to start, right?
When you don't have your four big players on your team, a miles turner was
questionable coming into this one and he gave you 15 points in 28 minutes.
But other than that, you, you had nothing after that for the Milwaukee
bucks, Ryan Rollins, not a fantastic shooting day for him as well.
And the thing with Ryan Rollins, and I know it's been hyped on on box fans.
And I, and I get it more turnovers than assists today for Ryan Rollins.
So you just, you can't see those things.
You certainly can't see him against good teams like the San Antonio Spurs.
But to your point, but you, you, you did good on the rebounding.
So we'll, we'll, we'll live with it for a little bit of effort there.
I want to get into the honest conversation, but I want to make sure
we save it for later on in the show.
So we're going to dive in to the conversation around Yannis, the future of
Doc Rivers, what it means for the Milwaukee bucks after they are officially
mathematically eliminated from post season plate.
We'll get in to the locked on Bucks Postcast player of the game.
We'll get into the turning point.
We'll do all the things we've been doing all season long as the Bucks fall to
the Spurs 127 to 95.

Once again, four of them walk you box a 127 to 95 loss to Victor Webbing Yama and the San
Antonio Spurs.
That's the bad news.
The worst news.
The box officially eliminated from playoff contention.
Maybe it's not worse news.
I guess the bucks playing for lottery ping pong balls as the the season continues to unravel.
But before we get into the future of this organization, the future of Yannis doc rivers.
Let's get into and we thought this one turn against the bucks in their 32 point loss time
to reveal where the game was once or lost.
It's the turning point.
All right, but she we we had some good moments in the third that's about it for this one.
The bucks found themselves down double digits after one they were down double digits at
halftime.
They crawled back in the game with then striking distance.
I think I think I got in within 13, 14 points in that third quarter, but after that,
it was a wrap.
Your turning point in this one for the Milwaukee bucks.
Well, I go to the third quarter of the three straight turnovers, you know, went all of
a sudden.
But the bucks are playing better than there was a time out by the Spurs and then the
rest of it kind of was history.
It led to three straight turnovers and that kind of for sure sealed it.
I could have also said the tip and that we would have been we would have been there.
It would have worked.
But to me now, I think was that was the point like the third quarter, you came out, started
playing with some, you know, pretty well, but the three straight turnovers and that was that
kind of shut the door.
Yeah, give credit to to Gary Trent Jr. in that third quarter.
He was huge.
Pete Nance was getting some scoring going.
I'm my turning points the same as yours.
Like, look, the bucks were they were down 23 at half, 20, I think 23 at half, 22 at half.
Like at that point on like we all kind of knew what the outcome was going to be.
And Antonio is one of the best teams in the national basketball association.
The bucks are currently not the box again without Yannis, without Kevin Porter Jr.
No Bobby, Portis, no Kyle Kuzma, so they were their backs were certainly against the wall.
And it does is a disaster continues to unravel for the Milwaukee box a 32 point loss.
Now 29 and 44 on the season before we get into the honest talk, the Doc Rivers talk, but
she just because it's a 32 point loss.
It doesn't mean somebody isn't going home without the honors.
This is the locked on player of the game.
All right, but she this is a should though.
We have to be a we're not going to be like the bucks, but you we're going to be, we're
going to be, you know, we're going to be consistent here on the program and we do it
win or lose, you know, and it's been a lot more losses.
I think we could probably count with both of our hands how many wins we've experienced
since we started the locked on box post guess, but that's okay.
I'll let you have first cracks at it on this one.
I'm anticipating nobody from the home team is going to get your honors, but I'll let
you have it.
I actually am.
I'm going to go Gary Trent Jr.
Oh, Gary Trent Jr. played really well and I think that set the tone because here's
the thing.
There's a lot of young guys now playing and they need to look somewhere to what the expectations
are of being a pro.
I thought Gary Trent Jr. set the expectations and I think there's value in that like you've
got to have some of those older guys say even though we're out of it, this is what being
a pro is about.
And I thought that's, you know, so for me, that's why I'm going, Gary Trent Jr.
Don't over going to be able to go that way a whole lot the rest of the season, but
reality wise, that to me, that's what I look at and I said, okay, he said the standard
early on and and the young guys follow and that was that that's a positive.
Nobody likes to lose my 30.
That's not what, you know, we know what that is.
I'm just pulling from some of the small things that I see and that was a small thing that,
okay, Gary, like you're doing your job as a pro.
Great job.
Like perfect.
And it's a guy too to your point, like inconsistent minutes, right?
Like there's been games where we've covered where he's DNP's, yeah, you know, for coaches
decision, you know, not injury related.
I mean, for me, Stefan Kassel, I'll make it quick, triple double and less than 30 minutes
to 22 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists.
That team in San Antonio, man, they are built to last, like that is a dangerous team led
by Mitch Johnson surrounding himself with former players or shot Lewis on that bench, like
that is a really fun team to watch.
Stefan Kassel just one part of that and he gets my honors nine to 13 from the field today.
He was, he was good.
It looked like he had a bit of an injury scare at some point in this game, but he was turned
out to be okay.
He got his triple double.
So he'll get my locked on Bucks postcast player of the game.
I do love the Gary trend junior one.
We got a few minutes here, but the Bucks are eliminated from the post season.
Their season is over.
What do we do with Yannis who apparently, according to reports, wants the play and now
the Bucks season is over.
Okay.
So, Bren, I haven't been able to catch Justin, you know, locked on Bucks is because I don't
know if they brought this up.
I don't know if the Milwaukee sports conversation people have brought this up either.
I actually don't think anybody has, and that's why I'm going to bring it up right now.
Yes, dude.
Why this is a deal is, and I'm sitting in a Green Bay studio about to call the Wisconsin
herd versus the Toronto not or Raptors 905.
And you know who's on a two way for the Milwaukee Bucks who has not been to the NBA is Yannis's
brother Alex.
Now we've had brothers playing the NBA before the holidays, but they all haven't been
on the same team.
I haven't been on the same floor.
To me, I think there's a part that Yannis says, I want to get back so that the three brothers
can play a little bit, that they can be on the floor together.
Am I completely crazy to think that that's one of the reasons?
At this point, this is who he is, right?
We all know this is Yannis, like, you know, there is no off button for him unless it's
being forced off.
I don't know if the Bucks would do that, right?
I don't, again, who are you bringing him up and putting him in front of like, is it
fair to the two way he come up at a point, but he's not on the two way.
Are the optics fair?
Like, how would the team proceed?
Yeah, it cares about the optics right now.
That's why I'm bringing it up because I don't think I don't think tonight is the
Hurts last game.
Yeah, Toronto.
It's their last game of the season.
They're done after this.
They're not making the playoffs.
They're not playing anymore.
You're telling me that this isn't in place somewhat?
It probably is.
If I'm the organization, and I've said this, I think a week ago, roughly, I forgot when
the last time I said this, if you're the John Horst or the Jimmy Haslums or the West
meetings, like, you have to establish dominance in this relationship.
And I know that hasn't always been the case when it comes to Yannis, you have to put
your foot down if you're one of those guys, or even if you're Doc Rivers.
Like, the risk does not outweigh the reward in this.
Yannis is the only asset this organization has, whether you keep him or trade him.
And if anything happens, I'm sorry.
But the way that it's gone, but he can't, I can't rely on him to be healthy.
And if he goes down with a big injury, that jeopardizes everything.
I've said it, Brandon, that I don't want to see him period before he came back.
I said, I didn't need to see him.
In general, I said that this should have been his last.
That being said, I truly believe there is that want to have all three brothers play.
And it's not about who is out.
It's going to take roster spot wise.
They got the whole team's hurt.
That's not, to me, that's not in play.
To me, I think there's some of this about history.
We, do we not see it in the all-star game?
Like, have we not seen the three brothers once before?
And we just saw history with LeBron and Bronnie.
Do you, like, I'm putting it out there and I'm not trying to start something with it.
I think it is more in place in the back of Yannis's head than anything.
This season's done.
So why is Yannis pushing to get back?
They're now officially eliminated.
They're now officially done.
What, I mean, you heard you, Dennis, you don't talk about it during, you know,
half time today that's selfish of Yannis.
Yeah, so what so strong words, but, but we all kind of, we all kind of agree.
Like, yeah, so what, so what is, why is there a rush to get back?
Why is there a, why is there a want, not a rush?
Why is there a want to get back to me?
There's one reason, because I don't think anybody else has it.
I don't think anybody else has mentioned this.
The want to me is there wants, he wants to have some history in the
NBA with his brothers.
Yeah, and I think the optics, I think the optics and that would look horrible.
Do you think he cares about the optics when it comes to his family?
No, and I don't, I don't think many people do, you know, and I'll say that for
for Yannis's sake, I don't think you have family blinders on.
I don't think the optics are even thought of.
I do think it is an interesting point.
I don't think it's going to happen, but I think it is an interesting point
because I think the bucks, Doc Rivers coming out and saying Kevin Porter,
Jr. is essentially done for the season.
Kyle Kuzmo with the Achilles tendonitis, I cannot imagine they're going to roll
him out.
You know, if he has a risk to, you know, to do something further with that.
So he's probably done.
Bobby Portis has been out for a few games now with that spinal
contusion, like Miles Turner, he was, he was an illness.
So he was, you know, he should be okay going forward.
But there's no reason for even for Yannis to even come back in this season.
So if Yannis isn't going to come back and hasn't progressed, you know,
to the level that the box feel comfortable enough to going through,
shut him down.
And if you want to get some run, I guess with Alex up here, you know, the
finassus was also had, but here's the other thing, but you to your point.
TA has the same injury Kyle Kuzmo has now.
Yeah.
So I, you might not even see him point.
You might not.
You might.
Oh, I'm just, I'm just saying it is an interesting point.
It isn't just like what's the reason nobody's come up with the reason
why Yannis, well, and now other than it's, yeah, that's Yannis.
Well, I just, it's not how guys necessarily work, especially with their teams
eliminated. Yeah.
Well, and now you have no reason to bring like, that's my point.
My thing on this is, I think this is, and we'll wrap this up here shortly.
I think this is a leverage play by Yannis.
I think him saying to the organization or saying to somebody, I'm guessing it
came from the NBA PA, right?
Which means that it's probably the player or at least the player's agent saying
that I'm pushing to play, but the organization is telling me, no,
I think that could potentially be, I'd love to hear your thoughts on this
before we wrap up.
Is this a leverage play by Yannis to force his way out quietly of Milwaukee,
saying kind of like if you look at the NFL side, that's kind of what happened
with Max Crosby.
He wanted to play.
They were already eliminated.
They said, no, we're going to shut you down and he said, you know, bleep that.
I'm angry.
I want to leave.
Could this be a play that Yannis is going like, I wanted to go out and play.
They wouldn't let me.
My time here is kind of run.
Is it a leverage play here?
Do you think a little bit by, by number 34?
I actually don't.
I think it's a selfish play of what I put out there.
I do.
I think that's the core run of this.
I don't think it's a leverage play because the NFL is much better than the NBA.
The NBA, you don't need leverage.
You need to literally walk in and say, hey, I'm gone.
That's fair.
Like, you know, I mean, it's different than the NFL.
Yeah.
Like the leverage is you literally just say, I'm, you need to trade me.
And it's done.
Like if Yannis were to come out, walk up the front desk,
you're the front office and say, John, I'm out of here.
See you later.
It'd be done because that's just the way the NBA worked.
I think this, I can't, I don't know why my gut says it.
Maybe because I'm a little bit closer.
Maybe because I see a little bit more of this stuff.
I would say the common fan, the common media person in general,
probably didn't even know Alex out to the coupons on a two way with the hurt.
So, but I cover it.
I see it as I'm watching Alex as I know their season ends.
I'm just kind of piecing it all together.
I'm doing a little windy here, right?
Like what's going on here?
NBA history is at stake.
You could have three brothers on the floor at the same time.
Like does this factor in a little bit?
My gut says it does, Brandon.
Like my gut says that's what the deal is.
Let me get out there and play a little bit.
Let's do this.
We'll see real quickly.
James over on the YouTube saying, I'm shocked.
You're not covering the brewers, Brandon.
Are you shifting over to them now that their season has
started or you remain with the bucks?
James, you can get locked on brewers wherever you get audio podcasts.
And yes, I already covered opening day for the brewers.
When I'll cover them tonight, we'll continue to do.
I'll continue to do both.
