Bucs GM: Evans Left for Better Opportunity

Mike Evans is no longer with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after signing a three-year deal worth

$60 million with the San Francisco 49ers.

Fans wondered if it was about money, coach Todd Bowles, or a better offer elsewhere.

But this week, Bucks General Manager Jason Lick to clear things up, saying Tampa offered

Evans way more than what he got in San Francisco.

Lick to explain that the team really wanted to keep Evans, their first draft pick back

in 2014.

He stressed that Bowles had nothing to do with the departure, despite some tough moments

last season.

Evans missed nine games due to injuries, which kept him from chasing Jerry Rice's record

for straight 1,000 yard seasons.

But Lick dismissed that game as just one emotional moment, not the reason Evans left.

He said every team has those instances, and it played zero role here.
