college free agents available. 23-year-old center are Tyson Gross, a Calgary native.

This hometown kid, Captain St. Cloud State University, and ranked in the top 20 nationally

in scoring with 41 points this season. At 6.3 and 195 pounds, he's set to join the

flames on a two-year entry-level deal. Earlier this week, after his team's playoff exit,

Gross chose Calgary over other interested teams. He skipped the NHL draft in 2020,

and built his game through junior leagues and three strong NCAA seasons, boosting from 20 points

as a freshman to his breakout junior year. Fans are buzzing about this local talent getting a shot

in the NHL, especially with the flames rebuilding their center depth. Gross adds to recent additions

like draft picks and trade acquisitions, creating real competition for spots at the middle.

Reports say he'll report straight to the flames roster, pushing them to 48 active contracts

under the 50 limit. That leaves room for possibly two more college signings without issues.

Meanwhile, his deal burns the first year right away, making him a restricted free agent after
