Aggies Arizona State a date with destiny this weekend were breaking it all down in 30. Happy Tuesday and welcome in to another edition of the pH and X sun devil shaw manpani tohry joined as of late by the one the only pH and X sun devils O.C. himself of course Cole top them behind the Mac making all of the magic happen we got Danny Parker Raymond Julie David so many others here in the chat do us a solid hit that like button hit the subscribe button drop a five star review wherever you get your podcast what's up Connor what's up David this is set to be a fun week and an even better match up Saturday morning with the Arizona State sun devils headed to college station to take on the number 10 team

in the country that's right the Texas a.m. Aggies the Aggies falling in the latest AP top 25 poll from number eight in the country to number 10 of course the sun devils beating the brakes off of Morgan state over the weekend in the team season opener 70 to seven now Arizona State did receive two votes in the AP top 25 poll that dropped this morning not really a surprise that the sun devils didn't get a ton of love in the AP top 25 poll but if you want to kick that poll to the curb well go ahead go into college station go to Kyle field and upset the number 10 team in the country and you'll find yourself well within the top 25 in terms of what AP top 25 voters half to say of course some schedule updates for you guys taking a look at what we've got cooking this week we've got of course a

show going on right now we've got a show tomorrow will take a break on Thursday and then we back in action of course on Friday and then a pre game show watch party and a post game show on Saturday morning debating if I want to just show up and pajamas with maybe a mimoser or something for a little Saturday morning Texas a.m. upset because the Arizona state sun devils man I know it's early in the week but I think they got some juice to them. Nobody's given Arizona State any semblance of a chance on Saturday to go to college station and find a way to beat again a top 10 team in the country in Texas a.m. 14 and a half point dogs. Cool. I don't know about you man but that just feels like a lot three scores. Yeah I mean it does seem like a lot but I will say I don't think Kenny Dillingham would prefer any other way yeah I think there's there's part of him that doesn't like being

the favorite like he'd rather have that chip on his team shoulder yeah heading into a game like verse number 10 Texas a.m. hostile environment you know the fans are going to be roaring high octane offense Michael goes defense plays superstar ball yeah and you know I just don't think like if ASU was was closer maybe like three and a half underdogs I don't think like Kenny Dillingham would be able to use that as effectively as he is plastering the point spread on all the TV's across the facility yeah 100% I think we've seen Kenny Dillingham teams thrive in this format where whether it's on the road at home a neutral site and nobody picks them nobody thinks that they can get the job done it it does add fuel to the fire I mean the whole 2024 season was full of that right pick to finish dead last we know how that season went get to the big 12 championship game you know how that goes you get to the peach bull and while the final score you know wasn't necessarily didn't go in Arizona

states favor they put up one hell of a fight against one of the best teams in the SEC for sure and you go back to last season right nobody picked Arizona state except me to beat Texas tech when the red raiders came to town and they found a way to get it done this is where Kenny Dillingham and this coaching staff and realistically now the Arizona state sun devils thrive that is the sun devil identity right of like we enjoy being underdogs we like the fact that no one is picking us to get it done and again this is going to be two separate sides I think tomorrow we'll talk a little bit more about the defense going up against Texas A&M's offense with Marcel Reed a team that again put up 50 points on Missouri state but I think this game is going to be won or lost on the offensive side of the ball for the Arizona state sun devils I don't feel like that is dramatic to say given the fact that like you brought up Cole Mike Elko's defense is one of the best in college football he's got a phenomenal defensive mind I've seen so so many just praise Mike Elko for

realistically getting Texas A&M back to where their fan base believes that program belongs in this A&M defense is legit they are one of the best defenses in college football again they held their opponent to to zero points over over the weekend and again I know it was Missouri state but this is going to be a test and not just for the sun devil roster as a whole but specifically for this the sun devil the the sun of law fence seeing what cutter bully Amarion Miller Reed Harris these running backs can truly accomplish against what is a really formidable defense on the other side of course you're on the road you know that is going to be a rockus environment it's going to be a lot of fun but it is also going to be very interesting to see realistically if this Arizona state offense can even semi replicate the magic that they had just this past Saturday when they drop 70 points on Morgan states head everyone all weekend was saying it's Morgan state Morgan state it's Morgan

state right and while that was true this is the opportunity to show everybody in the nation because everybody in the nation is going to be having this game on in Texas and Ohio state on those are those are by far and away the two best games going on at nine in the morning on Saturday so you got those two games split screen this is your opportunity to show everybody other teams national media the other big 12 fan bases that the Arizona state offense is legit do I expect them to score 70 points no not at all but I do expect this Arizona state offense to at least translate a little bit from what we saw week one against Morgan state to week two and Cole we discussed that on the audio only episode that dropped yesterday talking a little bit about cutter bully success and what we liked from him week one against Morgan state and maybe what's ahead maybe some wrinkles in the offense that we might anticipate seeing from Marcus orio Kenny dealing him calling this game for cutter bully again he's no stranger to SEC environments is somebody that played it can

tucky last last season the year prior right this is this is familiar territory now he is the starter at Arizona state different coaching staff and you have a bunch of new weapons around him on the offensive side of the ball this offense was humming I just I'm very very curious to see how cutter enters this environment Cole and realistically if at any point especially early on in the game if it rattles him a little bit yeah I'm interested to just remember watching this Kentucky tape and seeing the things that I liked about him and some of the things that you know Kelly can he dealing him when he got cut her out of the transfer portal said he liked about him is cutter didn't really get sacked a lot when he was supposed to be sacked like he was getting out of hairy situations in the pocket using his legs extending plays and I think you know we're going to see that element

to him you know on Saturday at 9 a.m. versus Texas a.m. they're going to be coming after him from the jump you know that Michael goes defense is no joke you know that that front is great they play sound coverage on the back end I'm sure there's going to be opportunities where the secondary is going to have coverage sacks or would be sacks and that's up to cutter to make something happen yeah Morgan state you know I thought you know there's some some moments in the pocket where you know it wasn't as clean as Arizona state would have liked them to have but for the most part you know cutter could sit back drop back get the ball out quick on all the rpOs and short passes and he was all right for the most part I don't think that's going to be the case on Saturday where he's going to need to play on schedule operate the quick game you know keep the offense ahead of the chains and that's ultimately what's going to lead to success at least in the in the first half and and really when both teams are fresh you know making sure you're keeping pace with a.m.

Yeah no you're 100% right hit the nail on the head there I want to get to a comment that West BZ had in the chats is statement game for cutter he balls and leads us to victory he's in the Heisman discussion I don't think that's drastic to say if if Arizona state goes on the road and he lights up that defense again a defense that was just on point we'll get into to what they did and how they held Missouri state to nothing a little bit later on in the show but cutter bully man this is this is it this is your opportunity to show the Arizona state fan base that you are the guy that you can be a QB1 that leads this team to to the promised land championship aspirations obviously for for Arizona state in the big 12 this isn't your your granddad's Arizona state this is a team that is going on the road with expectations within themselves to put out the best game that they possibly can there were obviously some some miscues against Morgan state little ones at least they

felt little given the fact that you played Morgan state you go on the road taking on Texas A&M in that defense those little mistakes they turn into big ones quickly right something that we talked about a lot on Saturday's post game show was the offensive line the Arizona state offensive lines toughest test is likely to be Saturday against Texas A&M a bullish defense up front their front seven is a bunch of rabid dogs and in all honesty the secondary is what scares me most watching Texas A&M and what they did over the weekend Mike Elko said it I want to say in the offseason that this is the best secondary that he's had at Texas A&M when the head coach of an SEC program says that that's been there now for a little bit you take notice and watching what that secondary did I was wildly impressed with like just how quick they rally to the football how aggressive they are Kenny Dilling him mentioned that in his weekly press conference just yesterday saying that of course they've got good good defensive line been good linebackers good head resters good corners good safeties etc.

Right but they are at aggressive defense at all three levels and watching what they did I was honestly more impressed with the the Texas A&M secondary than I was any other element to Texas A&M's defensive core whether that be their defensive line their linebackers etc. The secondary was an elite unit on Saturday again against a lesser opponent similar to what Arizona state faced on Saturday the defensive line rewatching that group I thought they were a very deep group they're a very talented group I honestly expected more from Texas A&M against you know Missouri state than than what they put on tape but Cole we talked about it over the weekend like in the same vein that in offense can be kind of vanilla a defense can be kind of vanilla to if you don't have to go out of your way to to beat a team yeah I mean they they could just dominate into all their base stuff you know I gotta take a closer look at the film but I'm sure there's some different looks that

they showed Missouri state up front that flammuck's him a bit I think what a word one thing yeah I know that's like Kronkai education right there one thing I just want to emphasize is like this narrative around Texas A&M right is it's the team in Texas that just has never been able to get it done they've been in the SEC for how many years and hasn't hasn't won a championship they're known as the chokers right yeah they get into every single big game it seems like they're there and then it just all falls apart I don't think like that narrative applies to Mike Elko's Texas A&M I think this team is just super solid well coached well discipline on the defensive side and so I start to say like I don't think Arizona state you know it's gonna have you know the utmost confidence heading in this game but you know fans thinking that this is the same Texas A&M from you know the previous decade or so I think our mistaken yeah this is a completely different unit that is you're gonna play really solid football and be explosive you know on on offense and

really drive the game yeah mr. uh mr. in the chest is I don't know what everyone is so worried about we're gonna be fine well Arizona state it's gonna be just fine if cutter bully replicates what he did against Morgan state if you somehow forgot take a look at what cutter bully accomplished through the air against Morgan state this is your co big 12 offensive player of the week 21 of 27 through the air as many in completions as he did touchdowns in his Arizona state debut six touchdowns through the air 387 yards I mean absolutely tore up that Morgan state defense for an average of 14.3 yards per completion in a QBR of 81.9 he played a pretty flawless game early on I think there may have been some debut jitters I think we talked a little bit about it on our Monday episode or even Saturday in the post game the throw across his body early in the first quarter should have

never really happened he took the big sack I put that more on backlanco than I do cutter um there were a couple plays I'd say one throw that stood out to me rewatching it was the card a mac drop touchdown card a first and foremost should have caught that touchdown but I think cutter could have put a little bit more air on that ball would have found card a and stride that way he didn't necessarily have the back pedal and catch it in the end zone regardless though cutter had one hell of an Arizona state debut the best debut of any quarterback and sundable history the question now is how do you follow that and it's not just on cutter shoulders right I think there are always going to be all eyes on QB one not just in tempi but realistically everywhere right if somehow texts to say an M loses on Saturday regardless of the result people are going to talk about Marcel Reed that's just the case in college football in the NFL the quarterback it's all the love you also get all of the hate right but if

Arizona state is going to find a way to go into college station in front of a hundred thousand in the SEC and win it's going to be more than just cutter bowling getting it done on the offensive side of the ball in the same way that it was more than just cutter bowling tearing up Morgan state on Saturday the question then becomes which matchups are the most important and how do you attack such an elite defense like Texas a and m has well we're going to answer those questions on the other side of our first break financial success begins with the right institution and of course the right account so you know we're talking about mountain america credit union and their my style checking account we've been telling you for months going on years now about the different perks and benefits that are included with that my style checking account but in all honesty my favorite part about that my style checking account is the fact that it is designed around exceptional member

service it really is the ultimate spending account and how we get things done it could be your midday snack account your surprise party account your home repairs account in other words it is the perfect fill in the blank account so with so many possibilities how will you use my style make sure you apply for your my style checking account at any mountain america branch at macy.com slash my style entered by ncway membership required based on eligibility some of its required no cost registration plus activation terms conditions and exclusions apply look the NFL returns this week that's right games on wednesday thursday and of course the grand finale on sunday for me i'm ready to be posted up indulging in some pure edibles kicking off the 2026 NFL season on my couch look we've all been there you dabbled in gummies and for me i've had so many in the past that leave a weird or weedy aftertaste that make you not want to come back but our friends over at pure edibles that

is not the case in fact pure gummies they taste like candy and that's because pure is a full fledged candy company offering gummies they've got kicks which are their version of starbursts choose soft candies like caramel and then hard candies as well and if you're someone that maybe doesn't want to indulge in the uplifting effects of pure edibles but you have a tough time sleeping well you're in luck because pure makes some great sleep support gummies as well so go find yourself some pure edibles products from one of the over 150 dispensaries across Arizona now including truly super easy and easy to get your podcast west bs in the chat says just so everyone knows a and m at one measly sack against Missouri state they aren't exactly world beaters at the end position in honesty man like that was maybe the biggest surprise to me was rewatching that text to say in m game is i had so so i mean my

expectations for that text to say in m defensive line and defensive front were so so high and for them to only turn in one sack i was a little bit surprised but again overall this is a defense that will grow will evolve in the same way that we talk about the son devil offense the son devil defense and how they will evolve weeks you know four five six seven the look completely different than they do week one that's the same thing i expect Texas a and m to put out a better product week two then they put out week one and yeah they may have not had the greatest game in the world in terms of sack numbers but you look at Arizona state Arizona state on defense didn't necessarily have the best turnover numbers you still would expect them to have a overall better performance week two week three week four when it comes to takeaways so yeah only one sack but it's a perfect segue west bz because i think the air is on a state offensive line is going to be a a difference maker in this game it

is going to certainly be a reason why the sun devils either end up winning this game or why they don't banshees she says as you pass pro was kind of weak i mean we could talk a little bit about the past protection overall i think Arizona states offensive line delivered they held their own especially in the interior of the offensive line i thought tana i thought m macaque weighed held in when he was in there i thought those guys held their own really really well overall the offensive line i thought was fantastic in the ground game they really established an elite ground game against a lesser opponent on you know past saturday but taking a look at this week's game the past pro certainly does need to be a little bit different right i i don't expect any legit starting changes up front when we're talking about the Arizona state offensive line left tackle right tackle i still fully anticipate your starting right tackle to be jalen clem the left tackle conversation

is an interesting one loopback lanko of course had the the one sack that he gave up against Morgan state it wasn't the prettiest rep by any means he got beat by with speed pretty badly and then you get champ westbrooks who played on saturday as well i thought he overall had a solid performance i would have loved to see i'd love to see more of him overall again i'm interested to see what the leash looks like for the Arizona state offensive line um if luke gives up a sack or two or if it's clear that he can't hold his own well do they pull him right do they give champ an opportunity same goes for any of the other offensive lineman i don't want to necessarily beat up on a player like luke luke back lanko um but there is of course that that question of okay if things start to take a turn early in the game late in the game this kenny and saga decide okay maybe it's time let's go ahead and put champ in it left tackle let's look at

germane at one of the tackle spots uh because if you don't think that text is a and m is going to try and be bullish up front if you don't think that they're going to try and send some exotic blitzes to try and confuse this Arizona state offensive line then you're sorely mistaken now it's going to be up to this offensive line to show that they can handle it early and often that way they almost discourage text the saying m from doing that the rest of the game but that is going to be something that i am fully watching um i mean from the jump first quarter is going to be big for Arizona states offense the offensive line uh i know there there are folks talking about the the the multiple toatries in the in the chat that was not called um by any means that i just want to throw that out there that wasn't cold that was a technical error um that transpired there but cold taking a look at Arizona states offense again against this this Texas a and m defense what are your early expectations for Arizona states offensive line and how they can make life a little easier

protecting a player like cutter bowling yep i think the standard is higher right uh yeah the mistakes right cannot be you know very far very far and uh opposite of very far and few few between but like running the ball right it's it's easy to get vertical push running duo and counter versus Morgan state but against the Texas a and m front that their mission right is to blow up the point of attack right put you behind the sticks second and long third and long situations where their secondary can really you know say back cover these formidable Arizona state receivers and create coverage sex on cutter bowling like the higher the standard is higher in those situations right in the early downs first and second down series move the ball set up for success and third down situations where you can be multiple yeah run the ball you can screen you can play action you know take a shot quick game all those options are at your disposal in those second and short third and

short situations it's really like that that first down what the offensive line does how will they protect how well they run the ball i think it's really going to make the difference in this game and especially in the first quarter and getting off to a good start yeah one thousand percent i think it's i i i look at this Arizona state offensive line and in the same way west busy that we talk about cutter bowling and this being a monster game for him and if he finds success what that means for the long term discussion about him i think the same can be said about the Arizona state offensive line if they go to Kyle field and they hold their own against this defensive front a very deep defensive line that michael ko has out there if the sun levels are able to hold their own then we need to start talking a little differently about this Arizona state offensive line and this isn't just all on the Arizona state offensive line i think you are i look at Kenny dealing ham and Marcus a rollo the plan immediately has to be okay how do we keep Texas a and m guessing right how do

we keep them from sending everybody at cutter um all the time and i i think the immediate thing for me is you look at how successful that ground game was last week against Morgan state right kyson and marquis taken their first caries for touchdowns Grayson rigged in obviously having a massive impact not just in the passing game where he went over the the hundred yard mark but also someone that averaged five plus yards a carry right david avid got in in the action we saw man man Jason brown junior like all of those backs got in there i don't expect to still see that many running backs getting in i would be completely and utterly shocked if you had a seven man running back rotation for the entirety of the season but i do expect to see marquis skillis kyson brown grace and rigged in card a mac get in there and and really establish the run i think that's that for me is what i want to see out of the play collar this week right is make sure you have a balanced attack

at no point can you allow yourself to get down by two scores and let that defensive front know what you're doing right that's where life becomes i mean just absolute chaos for cutter bully in this passing attack is if texas a and m just has to play the past because you're down early and you're on the road that's not a recipe for success for me i look at time of possession here i look at establishing a ground game and making again using what you have as a strength as a strength Arizona states ground game the last four years under kennedy lilyham has been the strength Arizona states run blocking right i looked at every watch the game from saturday and i put it in the diehard discord the tight ends block their asses off on saturday against morgan state let's let's do that right let's let's get in those big jumbo sets let's get twelve thirteen personnel let's get twenty two personnel in there let's get big let's establish the run i know cutter through for a ridiculous amount against morgan state i don't necessarily think that's like what kennedy

dilling in the company want to do i think they want to take the energy out of the building and how do you do that call you you slow it down you run the football you put together a long exhausting drives to keep marcel read on the bench on the other side and then you slowly find yourself second half okay we're in a one score game either way and you like your chances with omari on and read on the perimeter yeah no absolutely i think texas a and m is going to try and control the pace yeah right they've got the defense to do it force quick three in outs and then they've got the explosive weapons and a dual threat quarterback to really you know take drive the pace of this game if a su can settle down you know and and find a tempo that there's there solid with where they're having a clean operation still getting yards setting up shot plays but it doesn't feel like it's frantic out there yeah right with a hundred thousand roaring fans right cutters covering his ears over his helmet trying to get the play call from Marcus

Arroyo and kennedy dealing him i don't want to see that right i want to see cubie one calm and collected calling the play in the huddle walking up to the line making his checks and identifying who he's going to throw the ball to yeah 100% do you think his scc experience is going to play a legit factor here because i know that's it's part of the conversation always right it was part of the conversation with him coming air is on a state was this guy's been in the scc he's not going to get rattle when he goes to love it he's not going to get rattle when he goes to byu or Utah or some of these other like legit big 12 environments but you're going back to one of the loudest most rockest places in college football at Kyle field do you think that scc experience whether he won or lost in the scc when is that Kentucky matters or not yeah i mean i think you take the record with a grain of salt but just having been in those environments yeah sure i mean it's it's got to be advantage this isn't some inexperienced freshman that's going to be facing a a hostile you know

crowdbase for the first time like no he's he's been in those environments before he's had to perform he understands how it changes when the crowd gets behind the home team and so yeah i don't think it's going to phase them you know all too much it's it's everything else combined where it really gets overwhelming or you know you feel like you can't trust your protection the set the secondary is covering well there's no one open down field your check downs covered and you've got the crowd roaring it's all those variables together is where it becomes a situation that's hard to handle but i don't think isolating just the environment and and the stadium right in Kyle field is really going to do much at face value yeah to to ruffle cutter bullies at the end of the day it's just a place to play right and i know Texas a and m fans are going to take that with he said what he said what about our field our stadium look it's a great field it's a great environment but at the end of the day like Kenny Dillingham said on Monday like it's it's just a place you play it's just

right you still can listen to loud music and accomplish a task at hand still know what you have to do it's how you block out the noise and that is going to be the test is how cutter bully in this offensive line block out the noise right someone brought it up i think it was maze early in the chat you can't find yourself in third and long right you can't find yourself behind the sticks here you have to be able to win first down to get yourself into a premier position to extend drives to find yourself in the red zone in capitalize the last thing that Arizona state can afford to do i would say in the same vein that we talk about the offensive line potentially giving up sacks on cutter bully the next worst thing is pre snap penalties right shooting yourself in the foot is almost in my mind it's worse than allowing the opponent to beat you right because at least when someone beats an offensive lineman you say you know what they got the best of me let's go again you beat yourself on a pre snap penalty right a fall start because it's loud shoot yourself in

the foot right holding penalties are going to be absolutely killer in this environment in the same way that it was for Morgan state going to tempi first play of the game was a fall start why Morgan state wasn't accustomed to that environment in it hurt their offense the entirety of the game pre snap penalties shoot yourself in the foot and you ultimately killed drives that way now you put yourself in a position not only shooting yourself in the foot but with an elite level defense on the opposite end it makes life nearly impossible not just for cutter bully but also for a play collar whether that be Kenny Dillingham or Marcus orio trying to get things going so you're right David heeding in the chat so many others no pre snap penalties on Saturday you can't let the crowd think that the noise actually means something when it comes to how it's impacting the game itself right it's a it's a free ticket for the defense to just go ahead pin your ears back rush the quarterback play man coverage on the back end and then obviously when you get in those situations

what is the defense thing oh it's a they're trying probably going to try and run a slip screen running back or a tunnel screen to one of the outside receivers and so and you're less predictable right like you can run the ball and try and maybe get half of it back or you can try a screen or you can you know drop back pass and good luck you know against that front in a favorable situation so yeah I mean those pre snap penalties are killer and making your offense predictable and you know it's it's pretty it's predictable with Texas and Texas a and M wants to do yeah situations like there's there's really no hiding hiding from it so the less of those situations that the sun doubles you know can avoid will be beneficial yeah this isn't a lead level defense on the other end just take a look at what Texas a and M held their opponent to just this past Saturday I get a lesser opponent but they gave up only four first downs through four quarters their opponent was 10% in terms of third down conversion one of 10 67 total yards is ridiculous through four quarters

that's insane ridiculous they averaged less than two yards per completion and less than two yards per carry on Saturday not to mention they forced three turnovers and they held their opponent to less than 17 minutes of overall time of possession that is absolute dominance now I think we'll have a little bit of a different discussion on Wednesday about Texas a and M's offense because in honest I know it was 50 to nothing I wasn't overly impressed with Texas a and M's offense I think that's in large part why Texas a and M 150 to zero and still fell two spots in the AP top 25 is because of the end of the first quarter it was nine nothing yeah slow start right slow start slow finish I get there's backups in there but a lot of it was again they capitalized on those turnovers they put together drives it wasn't in the same way that Arizona State beat Morgan State where it was explosive explosive explosive explosive that's what it was for the sun devils on Saturday so I do think

I don't think I know this is 100% going to be a more challenging test for Arizona State than they faced last week but it's also going to be a more challenging test for Texas a and M than they had last week so where exactly does Arizona State need to win match up wise if they're going to find a way out of Kyle Field to know well let's discuss it on the other side of our second break power ball the pick and pick three that's right you know I'm you love them and they're Arizona lottery draw games but now they are better than ever draw games gotten upgrade with more prizes more drawings and more ways to win that's right the power ball jackpot still starts at 20 million dollars and keeps growing until someone wins but now there are even more ways to play double play a second drawing using your same numbers and power play a chance to multiply your prize either

way you can add these on your power ball ticket for only one dollar each and don't forget about the pick now with pick plus a new instant game with cash prizes and the newest draw game in the lottery line up exclusive to Arizona that is pick four so play your favorite draw game today starting at just one dollar at more than 30 600 retailers across the state find a place to play near you at Arizona lottery dot com Arizona lottery love the play look the NFL season like I said earlier is here so if you're looking for the perfect spot to watch Sundays game well might I recommend Hilo River resorts and casinos maybe one of their bed mgm sports books that's built for fans of course with wall to wall tv's massive screens incredible viewing setups and so much more but whether you're going for the action on Sunday or you're going for a little staycation it doesn't matter because Hilo River resorts and casinos they've got something for everybody doesn't really matter the

a listen to that episode again was on Monday a relatively short episode should be in your podcast feed wherever you get your podcast we've got some good news to announce soon soon as it relates to the pH and X sun devil show big things really big things in the works excited to share with you guys hopefully in the coming days but getting back to the discussion surrounding Arizona states offense up against that elite Texas a nm defense West busy says it in the chat chat wide receivers versus DBs is key a nm's claim to fame is their secondary I believe we have a top five wide receiver unit so this will be a matchup to win well cool let's talk about that matchup because again I mean we were talking just right there in the break the a nm secondary was for me the most impressive part of Texas a nm's onslaught of what they did against Missouri state really really talented group of

safety's a nickel corner and then just overall their corners in general but we saw on Saturday and we know what this Arizona state wide receiver group can be and what they are right now and we I feel like we only got a taste of what read Harris and omarian Miller and some of those wideouts can realistically do right no absolutely I mean you know they are pretty well as and then they timed up their shot plays with their play action with the one the run game was going well they ran duo well ran inside zone well they ran G h counter well that really opened up stuff down field to read Harris and hit omarian Miller for big gains I'm excited to see when Texas a nm lines up with their game plan to take away one of these receivers right take away omarian Miller in the slot take away read Harris outside how does ASU adjust and what are the play calls that Marcus Aroyo and

Kenny Dealingham have decided on that they're going to call to script these players the ball because it's in my opinion it's inexcusable if ASU lines up on offense for the first three drives and doesn't give read Harris and omarian Miller or omarian Miller a combined five targets yeah right like the ASU is not going to win this game with one of those weapons just blatantly uninvolved with the game plan so I wonder if it's just putting omarian Miller in the backfield shifting read Harris to the slot against a smaller target where he can win easier different you know option routes stuff like that where that that guys your first read and he has a multiple way a two way go on his cuts based off of the defense's leverage like that's what I'm looking for is is how Arizona State gets their top playmakers the ball yeah and we saw at a high rate on Saturday

right I think that was what we were discussing the the Arizona State offense in general on Monday it was well we're just going to give the ball to our skill guys and in space and let them work and that's what they did marian Miller feasted uh rehearse feasted and there are so many weapons I saw someone brought it up in the chat like we didn't see a lot of jalen moss we didn't see a lot of jaren hamilton well you're going to have those opportunities now and I think specifically talking about read in a marian Miller in this matchup I think Kenny Dillingham and Marcus Auroio saw and learned so much from the 2025 offense right Arizona State last year walked into the SEC on the road with the Starkville and lost to Mississippi State Sam didn't play well Jordan Tyson the top target was relatively held in check if I'm remembering correctly and and part of that has to do with any time you have an elite level number one wide receiver the opposition wants to bracket him right we're going to have a safety over the top we've got a corner there and we're going to show you pretty much

a double the entire game especially if you're an elite level talent like a player like Jordan Tyson well Arizona State's offense the new look offense in 2026 when you're spread out like that and you have a read Harris and you have a marian Miller and you have a raiden vines bright and you have a jalen moss and you have an a j a like defense is can't do that right they they can't necessarily bracket your top weapon because well that means we're we're light over here right if you want to go throw two guys on a marian Miller that's cool I got a six foot five two hundred and twenty pound wide receiver named read Harris on the opposite end if you want to go throw bracket at read Harris that's fine we feel like we can move a marian Miller anywhere in the formation you want to play him on the perimeter cool you want to play him in the slot cool you want to put him in the backfield cool they can do whatever they want with these errors on his day wide receivers that's something specifically that we didn't see a ton of against Morgan state was pre-stamp movement from read Harris from a marian Miller them lining up and maybe some odd odd formations I think that's something that you could potentially see here and I'm going to stand on what I said on on Saturday

and I I said or I should say on Monday's episode when we talked about the offense and potentially an X factor or a wrinkle in camaraderson I said I didn't really notice camaraderson playing right shame on me went back and rewatched it and camaraderie blocked his tail off for the entirety of the snaps that he was in there all those tight ends I thought did a really good job when it came to blocking I didn't see it because he didn't necessarily get targets right he didn't get targets Anthony Miller didn't get targets but that's just kind of the nature of this Arizona state offense that's what you saw was Shaman Mateier a lot of his career at Arizona state he made his money blocking for the sun devils now camaraderson like I said did a really really thorough job of that on Saturday but I do believe that camaraderson is a more athletic tight end than Shaman Mateier was at Arizona maybe doesn't have like the elite level blocking that Shaman did each and every game I could be wrong on that I hope I am but camaraderie is a faster player he is a more athletic tight end

I fully anticipate camaraderson to be a weapon through the air all the tight ends hopefully through the air in this matchup against Texas a and m because for me you go back and you look at when Sam levit was thriving the most in this offense it's not only when Jordan Tyson was feasting but it's when he had a security blanket with the number seven on the back of his jersey that he could find seemingly anywhere he wanted to especially in the red zone I think this offense opens up a little bit more pre-snap movement with the wide receivers you throw in some tight end you know in the passing game immediately it looks like a completely new offense than what you saw week one and all they have to do is they just got to move a couple guys around it's that simple yeah no I'm not just saying this because they beat them in the playoffs I would love for ASU to play similar to how Miami did yeah and how Miami plays where they line up like you said in multiple tight ends sets to run the ball and then you can release those tight ends down field

off that play action and a player like Malachai Tony where I think that staff over there at Miami does as good of a job as anyone else in the country at getting their best player on the field scripted touches yeah whether it's jet sweeps whether it's you know RPOs whether it's screen passes whether it's shot plays designed to him you know that's what I want to see to Amarian Miller and Reed Harris from you know the offensive staff in this matchup yeah I think there's there's really a good opportunity for the Sun Devils to establish their identity on offense you know I don't think we we quite know what it's going to be based off of the 70 to 7 shelling of Morgan State just because you can line up in whatever formation whatever type of of offense that you like against that team and you're going to score points yeah they could run the wing T versus Morgan State and probably be fine right I think they're they're going to be a little bit more dialed into the the formations the motions and specifically the structure of their offense that they're going to run against

Texas A&M because you need to be right you every little detail matters against against this defense everywhere you think you have an edge they're going to exploit and so I think that that blueprint for Miami is is a really good one to follow something you run with for sure short bus comedy in the chat says to me AJ getting a touchdown releases that added pressure of everyone thinking that position's really bad like daily with playing 5d chess with them or something I think again in practice that specific day that you're referring to when the tight ends looked rough they they they did look rough there were drops they weren't necessarily on their game by any means but again watching them in action Saturday I felt like the tight end position did what they needed to do overall and that's again where Arizona State uses their tight ends in a non sexy way like you you watch Georgia and how they use their tight ends and everyone wants a tight end on their team that does what Brock Bowers does right take handoffs yeah like that's what you want your tight end to do right because

it's the it's the sexy thing it's the fantasy football tight end right it's the Tramik bride let me get 12 catches for a hundred yards in a touchdown that's that's the the fun way to play the tight end position that's not necessarily how Arizona State likes to utilize their tight ends in this offense they've got some big big body tight ends and while that's fun in the red zone right where everyone thinks man AJE is six foot six two hundred sixty five pounds just set him outside by himself one on one coverage and it's he's a jump ball machine well that might be true well when you have a six foot six two hundred sixty five pound tight end or an Anthony Miller who's like six foot five two hundred fifty five pounds at tight end yeah it may not necessarily be the you know firework thing to do to have them on each end of a tackle but that's why Arizona State went out and got the receivers that they did right read Harris is on one side of my amillars on the other plug and play whoever you want in the slot I'm cool with turbo I'm cool with JLM awesome cool these Cebu I'm cool with the rain binds bright there's so much talent there but Arizona State doesn't have

at least right now and this is honestly most teams in the West Coast don't have elite level offensive tackles right elite level offensive lineman they play in the SEC they play in the big 10 right that's just where they go so the next best thing is let's get 12 personnel out there we got our wide receivers we got one back and let's stick to big ass tight ends on each end of a tackle that are almost the size right they may not necessarily be three hundred pounds but six six two sixty five is a big human being and let's give let's make that defensive end just annoyed as hell because every time we're running around we're shoulder checking him every single time you're making life a lot easier on your tackles and you have to keep those linebackers and safeties honest when those guys get out and they actually run routes that's the way Arizona State likes to use their tight ends they like to use them in a blue collar hard hat lunch pale kind away old school tight end football

and again it's not sexy but it's effective if you think that Arizona State rushed as effectively as they did against Morgan State simply because the offensive line was better than the defensive line or that the running backs were a more talented group than the linebackers and you don't think that the tight ends were at all involved in the success in the ground game I would I would highly recommend you rewatch it because I saw that again as it was again not individuals I just saw it as a whole and then rewatched it and saw what Anthony Miller did blocking saw what Camari did blocking saw what he did blocking and it was so so dramatic and how effective those guys were in moving other human beings yeah it's a good point and I think it just goes back to you know we talk about Heinz Ward and and the incredible blocker he was when during his professional career but I think it's one of those things that Jason Mons takes a lot of pride into yeah it's his tight end room and their

physicality in past protection run blocking I've seen that practice get after his guys and we've also seen it you know a couple of years ago where he didn't play specific players because they didn't have that juice to block right he took him off the field right he benched them for other players like Shaman Mateer who would put their get their nose dirty right in past protection in run blocking and so I think we're at that point where Jason Mons you know he's he's comfortable with this offensive staff he's got a few years of recruiting under his belt he has his players in the room that he has personally evaluated gotten from the transfer portal plucked from high school and he believes like these guys are are are his guys yeah right it's not left though verse from the previous staff like these are guys that Jason Mons has personally hand picked

for the role for the tight end role in their zone of state offense I think it showed it showed versus Morgan State with just the tenacity those those guys had to go out and pancake someone and spur a long touchdown run it was it was fun it was fun last Saturday and honestly man it's gonna look different but it's gonna be fun this Saturday too I really do believe that look I want to round out this conversation on the Arizona State offense we're gonna take you through a little bit of a checklist to see if Arizona State's offense accomplish accomplishes these things well then they will be successful and of course any questions in the chat I saw one from short bus I'll get to all that and more on the other side of our final break there are plenty of amazing real estate agents here in the valley but only one is at the top that's right we're talking about Kim Cabalero now previously Kim Cabalero has been working in the Arizona business around for over 25 years so you know she has

get your podcasts again appreciate all of you guys hopping in on a Tuesday afternoon to talk about the Arizona State Sun Devils again we will be live on Wednesday we're going to flip the script just a little bit we're going to talk about that sun devil defense trying to contain Mike Elko's offense in Marcel Reed on the opposite end of course at Kyle Field early kick this Saturday short bus says he hates to start time how do you feel about that call I'm I I kind of love the early morning start time but I love it as like a I love it as a viewer considering our day on Saturday ended at like two in the morning our day this Saturday ends a little bit earlier no I definitely like it better just as a working man you know being able to enjoy the evening college football games but I think yeah I mean Arizona State they receive a lot of late start time it's nice to see him play you know in the morning you know it's nice that it's at you know Kyle Field

instead of at Mount America Stadium where it's probably going to reach you know the the hundreds you know pretty halfway through the game and so you know hopefully our offense and and the team in general like their stand-up holds up you know throughout the game because they're not playing an excess heat yeah but I mean I I shouldn't speak too soon I haven't seen the weather report yet for Saturday's game so yeah I mean I I enjoy it for sure yeah I'm I'm really looking forward to it I think the early morning like I said I'm still debating whether or not I want to show up and and PJs with uh with a mimosa or a bloody Mary and watch Arizona State offensively figure out a way to take it to Texas A&M let's go ahead and take a look at what Arizona State needs to do on the offensive side of the ball to be successful against Texas A&M on Saturday of course the thing the thing that got cutter bowling in trouble the most that Kentucky was the turnovers for the sun

devils on Saturday you can't give Texas A&M any more opportunities no turnovers from cutter bowling specifically for me is something that I think could be a real difference maker cutter had the fumble against Morgan State and near I and T again get those out of the way early let's not see it in week two the next thing that we're looking forward to seeing from the Sarah's on a state offense is what we talked about earlier the sun devil offensive line and of course the tight ends staying in as well you got to keep cutter bowling upright if you do I'm of the belief that cutter in this offense can be just as effective as they were week one against Morgan State against this defense you just got to give cutter bowling some time to go through his progression and stay on time following protecting bowling company is you got to involve the running backs you did it at a really high level and at a high rate against Morgan State again kai seen kai seen marquee man man karte

Grayson all these guys I don't expect to see him all on Saturday but if you can establish the ground game keep these guys fresh give each and every one of them a couple carries similar to what you did against Morgan State maybe throw some two back sets out at Texas a and M I don't know how much of that they saw in week one against what Missouri State so keep the run game going establish a ground attack and keep a and M honest and then something that Arizona State did a whole hell of a lot was hit explosives against Morgan State it'd be nice if the sun devils could hit a few more explosives I think it's interesting and we'll probably talk about it a little bit later on in the week Kenny called this defense aggressive okay well my mind how do you attack an aggressive defense right maybe you take advantage of some blitzes you try and hit him over the top do you look to the quick game is it going to be more of a quick game from cutter bowling in company rather than those

explosives that we saw against Morgan State regardless I think you need to hit at least one of those to have a chance to beat a and M on Saturday if you find yourself on third down well you got to convert you got to keep these drives alive against this team we didn't see a whole lot of special teams not a lot of punning not a lot of field goals from the sun devils against Morgan State well let's go ahead and continue that trend week two convert on third down keep the drives alive take the crowd out of that game call yeah and like we mentioned earlier in the show like ideally those third down situations are third multiple right where you can run the ball you can pass the ball you can dump it off on a screen but I think those kind of longer third down situation is the third and eight right third nine maybe a third and eleven plus right third and fifteen maybe he takes a sack on second down that's really going to tell us a lot about cutter bowling yeah right and how

he processes the game how he reads the coverage and and finding the open receiver I think that's what I'm most interested because there's going to be you know hopefully not too many but there there will be situations like that in the game where cutter bully will be tasked right to to keep the offense moving yeah in those long situations and so yeah I'm I'm very interested to see how how he handles those situations convert on third down and the last time that Arizona State saw a really elite SEC team you go back to the peach bull and it was Texas right you got to survive the first quarter Arizona State they blinked and they were down 14 nothing to the Texas Longhorns they found a way to claw themselves out of it but if they weren't down 14 nothing at the start of that game it may have been a different outcome at the end you got to be able to handle the punches early right and any big fight it's not necessarily the guy that's throwing haymakers that wins

immediately you got to be able to hang around and I think that's going to be big for Arizona State Kenny dealing him keep the very first drive that you have keep it going right let's let's turn out an eight nine 10 play drive just to show that you can do it just to get some comfortability going in the offense and really calm those nerves and then finally you got to be within one score entering the fourth quarter Arizona State I think we'll find themselves in that position again 14 and a half points feels astronomical to me considering what I saw from a and M on Saturday and what I saw from Arizona State again I think it's fair that a and M's a favorite for sure but I do think Arizona State is a better team than the books are giving them credit for let us know in the comments how you feel about the sundaeville offense heading new Kyle field taking on the number 10 team in the country the Texas a and M Aggies that is going to do it for today's show like I said on Wednesday

we're going to be flipping the script and we're going to be talking about that sundaeville defense going up against that Texas a and M offense and offense with a lot of weapons highlighted most of course by quarterback Marcel Reed in the meantime do us a solid hit the like button hit the subscribe button drop a five star review wherever you get your podcast be sure to follow the show at phnx underscore sundaevils on Instagram Twitter and on tiktok you can follow me and Anthony underscore toetry and we've got the deli man the deli man making making a late appearance here what what do you got what do you got deli?
