2:06Sunday and it's been been pretty good. I haven't really felt the adjustment. I didn't play a football game in Australia. I don't have to play one this week, but from from my standpoint, the fingers feel good. I'm ready to write and the voice feels good. So I'm ready to talk football. Awesome. You know, your buddy Matt Barrows did not have as good of a trip. He got back had a normal day, but then the next night was wide awake. Couldn't sleep. I'm wondering now maybe he had his own things going on. Maybe he had his own things going on. Generally, the one thing I would say is the Monday night game. I was struggling to stay awake into the second half of that. I think I fell asleep in the third quarter. I was doing one of those head pops on the couch. So that was the time where I probably what it have been that drowsy, that early in the evening, but by large. Yeah. I know I feel good. 3:10and that 49er defense. The Rams were the number one offense in the NFL last year. They were the only team in the NFL to not score double digit points in week one. So what were your first takeaways from seeing Raheem's first game as Fort and under DC? Oh, obviously very impressive because, you know, I think we can make excuses about the Rams defense, not being whole, you know, banged up miles, Gary, who ends up going on IR and and Aaron Donald wasn't there, but they still have, you know, really, you know, on paper. They have a really good defense. The additions they made in the defensive backfield as well. But the Rams offense, that is what it is. I mean, that's, that's the team they're going to have. And maybe even some point they're not going to have who can go at this, you know, this season with potential suspension coming down. So the Rams should have been able to just step right in and roll offensively. And they did not do that. I thought that just watching, you know, I'll say this about both sides of the ball.

4:10It did not look like a first game of the season for either side of the 49ers, you know, offense or defense. It didn't look like they were miscommunications defensively. Everybody was on the same page offensively. You don't, you didn't see the early season stuff that you usually see with guys lining up in the wrong spot or false starts or legal motions or, you know, illegal shifts. You didn't see any of that stuff. So I thought the defensive game plan and execution was every bit as good as the offensive side of the ball for the 49ers. 7:16I think since Friday, maybe there was an NFL network report. But going into today is that the controlling storyline for you guys catching up on strip Stribling and Tungus. And did you have any inkling as to their their situations? Yeah, I would think that what the 49ers did with their roster yesterday moving Braden Willis up to the 53 and also bringing in Jack Stoll for the practice squad. That gives you an indication that Tungus is going on IR. The question is is there a chance that he'll be back this season. And I think the same goes of Stribling. I would fully expect that he would go on injured reserve. The question is with him, you know, are they going to try to play this saying out and not have surgery or go ahead and have surgery and what the time table is going to be. But I would say this from from the moment that everybody saw the day John Stribling carted off, you know, the sideline and being helped off the field first, you know, before that, you know, the initial reaction

8:19from all the internet doctors too, or that that's a potentially a torn Achilles and out for the season. And when I asked how she and he had after the game, you know, specifically is it an Achilles and he said, no, you know, that was definitely a positive. So if there is a possibility that he could return for half the year, that would certainly be something that I think the 49ers would take and the fan base should take as well. Right now they have Christian Kirk on injured reserve. So he can be back sooner than later, you know, as early as week five. So that's something that they have in their back pocket at that spot. So we yeah, we will see. But if one or both of those guys are able to come back before the end of the season was Stribling being, I think the big piece because of what he brings to the offense. And, you know, I mean, he started his first game as a rookie. And that is something that is earned. It's not given to you from Kyle Shanahan and the 49ers offense.

9:20If they can get him back and playing good football, you know, into November, December and potentially the playoffs, then then they come out of week one, not, not perfect by any stretch, but, but a lot better than it could have been. Matt, there are so many different storylines that I want to ask you about with this offense with Mike Evans making his debut. Debo Samuel being back and red and gold. George Kittle recovering from the Achilles injury, but we have such short time. The one question I want to ask you is about the backfield and Kale on black ending up with more carries in Christian McCaffrey. Are you full on buying into the split backfield, which in Kale on black and CMC? Yes, I am. Kale on black is really good. And he showed that from the very first time he stepped on the field. He just runs differently. I mean, that decisiveness, you know, the way that he hits a pile and sometimes, you know, drives into the backs of his offensive lineman. But again, you know, nothing is handed to these guys. And it is, it's a very high bar to clear for a rookie wide receiver or a

10:23rookie running back to get on the field. And I don't think we've seen this since Christian McCaffrey came to the 49ers in the middle of the 2022 season. And that's a backup running back that the 49ers feel very comfortable putting into the game. Now, I asked Kyle Shanahan about this last week. Is this the most comfortable he's been as far as having a backup running back? Who can do all the things that McCaffrey can do? And his answer was in the running game. Yes. A passing game. Christian McCaffrey is a completely different beast. So I think what you'll see throughout the season is what you saw in the game on Thursday night here in California, which is. In base situations, running downs, person second downs. I don't think the 49ers have any qualms whatsoever about putting Kale on black out there. But what you're more apt to see is you know McCaffrey on the sideline on the first two plays

11:24of a series or a possession where it's first and second down and then coming back onto the field on third down because he just stresses a defense so severely. And the things that he can do in the passing game just gives the 49ers a unique chess piece. So I think you're going to see more of Kale on black. I don't know how many times he's going to have more. I mean, he didn't have more touches because McCaffrey got five passes, but I don't know how how often you're going to see him carry them all more than McCaffrey. But I think it's very clear week one. It's nuts in the NFL. Is it a trap game? Yeah. But I would say it is. However, OK, I'm going to step outside here a little bit. You know, the 49ers cannot say this. Chanahan can't say this. Nobody can say this. But we can say it.

14:30This sets up so perfectly for the 49ers because the. The theory is going to Australia the way the 49ers did. They were going to benefit. In that first game by being acclimated, being rested, ready to go where they would feel it would be the second game potentially. And so there's a lot of things kind of working against them in this game coming up the big win. The adjusting to the time zone and everything else. But it's also the absolute perfect team for them to go up against because if they really bad team. You know, there are three just horrendous teams in the NFL. And I can say that confidently after one week. You know, it's it's Cleveland. It's Tennessee and it's the dolphins. So the 49ers don't have to play their a game again. They're not going to say this, but we can. The foreigners can play probably a D plus game with the talent they have and win it. That's not shouldn't be the standard for the players and the coaches, but I think that this is like kind of the perfect week two game for this team.

15:36I love it. There's the slogan come on out to Levi Stadium and see a D plus 49ers team. Love it. Hey, man. That's 30 seconds favorite thing about Australia. Number one, that's it. Best thing. Oh my god. Just everything. The environment, the people. It was so much fun. The people there were so great. I played golf to Murf. I mean, it was it was just awesome. Probably the my number one takeaway. The thing that just I will always remember was seeing the the penguins come in from their two weeks out at sea. At seeing them. Pop out of the ocean at at dusk and and waddle back to their burrows. It was a filibial and it was the greatest thing I've ever seen. That's something profound there, Maddie. There's something profound there as you as you as you're firmly on the back nine here, buddy. That penguin moment. I understand where you're coming. Hey listen.
