Carbon Fire in Orange County Contained

The carbon fire up in Northern Orange County kicked off around 1.30 p.m. Saturday near

Carbon Canyon Road and Olinda Place.

It burned through 200 acres by evening, but crews pushed hard and got it to 71% contained

by Sunday night.

All evacuation warnings are now lifted, a big win for folks in the area.

Earlier this week, firefighters faced steep, narrow terrain that made access tough, slowing

things down at first.

Fire support and ground teams jumped in right away, halting forward progress just after

1.45 a.m. Sunday, when it hit 35% containment.

Residents in Olinda Village and Hollydale breathe easy as warnings got canceled and the

evacuation center at Chino Hills Community Center shut down.

No injuries reported, but the fire scorched an unincorporated spot next to Brea, testing

local response teams.
