Hilton, for this day.
Arizona sets a record.
It wasn't always pretty.
But the Wildcat survived behind the dynamic duo of freshmen, Braden Burries and Kewa
Pete.
That was a spectacle to behold as was this whole regular season.
This is Postcast.
You are Locked On Wildcats, your daily podcast on the Arizona Wildcats.
Part of the Locked On Podcast Network, your team every day.
Welcome into Postcast, leave to lean with you here and as you see not the usual background
and I want to get a disclaimer out really quickly.
I am in a hotel and there is a fire alarm going off.
So if you hear any beeps all as well, do not worry, I apologize for the noise.
But I do not apologize for this.
What a season for Arizona.
29 and 2 setting a record.
This team set history and the answer to the question I asked early in the season may be
presumptuously saying is this the best team?
Yes, there is still a lot to be achieved.
But the answer is probably a resounding yes, this is the best team.
And think about this, Kewa Pete is back as a team that survived when he was out.
They found a way to win.
And Kewa Pete was the star of the game until Braden Burries was the star of the game.
This is a game where Jaden Bradley didn't score, did not score a basket.
And that's the guy that's most likely to be on the All-American team.
And your two star freshmen combined for 56 points.
And then you had the wherewithal and production from everyone else to overcome a poor half.
To overcome a team that had nothing to lose, absolutely nothing to lose.
And Colorado is a tough place to play.
Boulder is one high altitude to taboos, a fantastic coach.
Pac-12 people know this.
It's no strange thing that to see people wander into Boulder and lose to taboos.
And Arizona overcame that where they didn't have the motivation.
I talked about this before this game even occurred.
I said, you know what, motivation wise, it's going to be hard to see Arizona with the
equal motivation to Colorado.
But they found a way and they persevered.
And honestly, I think it's the best thing that could have happened for Arizona.
An ugly game.
One thing that I would say had to happen was establish co-opie, get his legs into him
offensively, and under him for the rest of the season.
Because the season just began today.
Arizona put themselves in play for a 1C.
They put themselves in for a possibility of history of winning the big 12, winning the
big 12 postseason, winning the big, winning the big dance.
Those are things that could be awesome.
But what needed to happen was have co-opie, the real co-opie back.
And I almost came on here and tweeted a half time.
Even if Arizona loses, but co-opie score is 25, that this is a success, fret not.
But I almost tweeted at the end, dot, dot, dot, Arizona is going to win this.
Because they just have so much.
And it felt like, okay, Bradley, he had a bad game the whole game.
I'm not going to say he didn't.
But it felt like he had such a bad half.
And Burys by his own enormous standards wasn't particularly great in that first half.
And the second half, Burys had 22 points on 7 and 9 shooting.
The dude's unbelievable.
He should be an all-american.
It really isn't something that I think is up for much debate.
You look at his first half, 9 points to a 7 shooting, and just was not particularly sharp.
Our Chankov 2 point, Bradley zero, Krivos 4 points, like that the team was there.
But defensive sharpness was the thing that most people would complain about.
But to me, the answer was, okay, we know we're going to get the ball to co-opie.
That's the concert effort.
And others didn't know what they were doing initially.
And then it was the time to step up.
And this team locked in defensively.
Not the whole night.
Don't misunderstand me.
But when they needed it most, and I have in my notes here, that Arizona held Colorado
for the last about four minutes of the first half, four minutes and 21 seconds, scoreless
with no fuel goals.
And then when they built their lead in the second half, they stepped up held Colorado 1-9.
So the defense did not play very well.
And he ended up the game with an ability to pull away because their defense stepped up
while the offense manufactured more points.
The offense was able to say, okay, well, our defense isn't doing great.
Let's step up and score.
And the best test to that would be their second half.
Arizona win 19 of 27 in the second half after scoring 36 points in the first half.
It's not like 36 is a tiny number.
It's not great, but it's not bad.
And then they said, you know what?
Who cares about that?
Let's go 19 of 27 in the second half.
And they held Colorado to under 50%.
If you ever go 19 of 27, they will win.
Forget about it.
And this is a game that was imperfect by a lot of margins.
But I think imperfection is actually something that Arizona should be happy about.
Because Burys and Pete found a way to play together.
And the game, though Jane Bradley would pour, I expect him to get better because he can't
play worse.
But the biggest thing that stood out to me is Burys and Pete look so sharp playing with
one another.
They played off of one another.
The ball is in Burys' hands in the big moments and boy did he deliver.
Burys and Pete, by themselves, are good enough to win and get you super far.
The other thing is when they made these runs, Tobio Waco was vital and you saw Mo Kreeba step
up.
The other thing to note in this second half is after a poor defensive rebounding half
in the first half where Arizona was out rebound, which is a rare statement, Arizona ended
up dominating the glass in the second half winning by nine.
They also limited the easy points by limiting the second chance points and points off of
turnovers.
And Arizona, throughout the entire game, even in the half that they lost, were able to
win the points in the paint.
They scored 54 points in the paint against the poorest Colorado defense and they scored 19
free throws.
So if you add that up, they scored 73, uh, paint oriented points.
And that's always a key for me.
But Arizona wasn't perfect, but you look at the recipe, right?
The recipe is simple, score easy buckets efficiently, make teams take away, uh, make teams
shoot shots that are taken away and usually thrive in the mid range.
Colorado hit a few more threes and you'd like early in this game.
They hit a lot of free throws.
They hit some mid range shots.
They played well.
Arizona didn't play particularly well on that side of basketball, but they did enough.
And in that is what matters in a game that's a psychology game, a game that the psychology
of the schedule says that Colorado has more to play for the Arizona.
And they absolutely did an Arizona found a way to win.
And in March, you need to find a way to win.
And there's a book in tennis called Winning Ugly.
And yeah, you can win pretty and it's better, but winning ugly, I think actually builds
more character and it shows more ability to manufacture, manufacture wins when not everything
is going right.
And I'll tell you how wrong everything was going in that first half.
Let's tell you the stats.
They tell you a story.
Arizona only lost the half by two, but Arizona trailed and rebounds against a poor rebounding
team by four.
Arizona trailed, despite having 24 points in the paint, a plus 14 the points in the paint
trailed in second chance points by seven.
And they were able to give up six, three pointers and a half, which is so rare because frequently
Arizona gives up fewer than six, three pointers in a game.
And the second half Arizona only give up one and they give up seven in the game.
They regulated and found a way.
Colorado played better than they could.
And they could in any given setting.
They came in motivated.
Arizona played a D, maybe C minus first half.
And the second half, I thought they were awesome because I believe Arizona found a way
to win a game that they didn't play well and they had to find alternative ways to score
and they decided, you know what, we don't need that many alternatives.
Really, let's just give it the ball to two top to 14 draft picks, two lottery picks.
Arizona has two guys that are one, all American caliber and two should be NBA talents and
NBA talent matters.
Mo Kreevoss blocks up the middle, does that.
And Braden Burries, I think it's the top 10 pick.
And I think co-op Pete said, yeah, me too.
I can get on this action and ball out too.
Arizona has all the answers and they put together a collective win.
And I know there's a lot of talk about Isaiah Johnson, Arizona next year.
I'll talk about that in a moment.
I got a lot more takes as well as going over some keys from what was a fun and a long
game in what has been a long day.
I will break that down next on Lockdown Wildcats.
College basketball is nonstop big games, tight spreads, momentum swings every single
night from early tip off to late night, West Coast shootouts.
There's always action on the board and Fandals now giving away to turn that energy into
even bigger potential wins with a college basketball parlay profit boost.
You can build on any college poops parlay you want, rivalry games, ranked matches, whatever
fits your read.
You can mix spreads, totals, player props to match how you see the slate playing out.
And if you're interested, Arizona's favorite in a lot of games.
They're favored by 14 and a half in this one against Colorado.
Did not cover, but if you had the money line, they did because they won.
So go say for go bold with the team, you've been right, you've been following and
ride them to success.
It's your parlay, your style.

Welcome back to Lockdown Wildcats postcast Arizona 29 and two.
What a regular season.
By the way, regulars in the chat, Rick, Tyler, Roberto.
Guys in here that are always in here really appreciate you guys.
Secondly, I have a request for you guys.
I asked you guys before the season.
And in one of my early episodes to say what you thought the team's expectations be.
Some of you guys were on the ship and watching every show then.
I really appreciate it.
I want some of you guys to volunteer your answers for what you thought was going to be the season record
and what you thought a good season would be.
I said on record, I thought 26 and 5 was kind of the number.
I expected 28 and 3 was the high outcome.
And I thought that was way more likely than a 24 and 7.
I was really high on this team and I underachieved and picking how good they'd be.
So volunteer that in there.
I'll go check the comments and see who is the winner of picking this score the most closely.
We'll see what it was because this is a high scoring game and often we trust the defense so much.
But I want to bring this up.
Arizona, if I asked you guys who's the best basketball player,
I want you guys to think about like month by month.
Because co-opique started the season with 30 against Florida.
And I was telling you guys, I think co-opique is the best basketball player on the team.
And even if Jaden Bradley is the most indispensable, co-opique is the best.
I think it's clearly Brady and Murray's now.
It's not even close.
I think it's very, very clear that Brady and Murray is the best basketball player on the team.
And I wonder if there is going to be a change of who gets the ball late.
And whether that helps or not, because Bradley's been nails at the end of games,
but the better guard typically has the ball in March.
That's a question for you guys to answer.
I'll be very curious.
Let's talk about the keys of this one and see who Arizona did achieve versus what they did not.
But Brady and Murray's, to me, by the way, I came from an MBA background, MBA,
big board and analyzing that stuff.
I did a board the other day and I have Brady and Murray's sixth on my board.
I would love to see him back, he won't be.
I think there's a world in which co-opique tests it, but he's going.
He's going to the MBA.
He's really, really good.
You saw it today.
Score it with ease.
The answer will be very, very interesting about Creebuss and Cartchain Cup.
And that leads me to the discussion that a lot of you guys were talking about.
And it was a discussion about Isaiah Johnson.
And I put together a tweet a little bit ago and it talked about guys that I thought in the Big 12 play
stood out to me the most.
And I would, if they enter the portal, try to lure the two sun.
My answer from the guard spots, I said, Isaiah Johnson, a couple of,
this is a week ago before this game, Jamari and Bateman from Iowa State,
both of whom really, really impressed me in their games.
Not just in this specific outing against Arizona, but just over the season.
I think they fit what Arizona likes to do.
I think they're good athletes and I think they have years to develop.
They're both freshmen.
Those are two guys.
I talked about Musamba job.
You know, that's hopeful coming from ASU and you know,
you never know, he's a little bit older as well, could go to the NBA.
But they're always guys, but what really matters is who comes back?
Retention is what made Arizona so good in some ways,
but also instead of settling, saying, yeah, we can get like a fifth year,
a guy, and I mean, no slight to trade towns and whatsoever.
But if you can get a co-a-peat by scouring the top 20 of a incoming class
versus going in a fifth year from a mid-major,
maybe it behooves you to go get a star, a precocious freshman like co-a-peat,
like a Braden Burries coming in to replace a KJ Lewis.
And I know these aren't one-to-ones,
but I'm curious to see how Arizona restocks.
And I think they will.
And I think it's really a luring seeing this team go 29 and two.
Because 29 and two with unselfish players with the leading score on the team
scoring 15 points, but he's going to be a top 10 pick
and should be in all American, will be all conference in Braden Burries.
And then you have co-a-peat who for much of the year,
many like myself who watches a ton of basketball
and thinks he knows stuff.
And you guys do too.
You could have a real discussion that Bradley was the best player for much of this year.
You get a real discussion of co-a-peats the best basketball player.
To me, it's night and day, it's Braden Burries.
But the point is that egalitarian attack doesn't even discuss
that Mo Kreevas is instrumental in both sides of the basketball.
And it makes it a luring to come to Arizona.
And I think it'll be very interesting to see if Karchankov and Kreevas say,
you know what, we can go back to Arizona, be the stars,
and be all American caliber players, follow the Tommy Hauk route
of where he ends up going to Florida and he's going to be in all American this season.
Rather than be a top 20 pick and then be a top 20 pick this year,
where do they go to the NBA?
I'll be very, very interested.
But let me know in the comments below what you guys think about.
Who should have the ball late?
I see some of you guys with Burries, some with Bradley.
And there's good questions we have.
Let me know who you think is going to be able to retain
who will be retained for Arizona and who will go to the draft.
And then I'm going to get you to my keys.
I was all over the place, but Isaiah Johnson's really good.
I would love to have him there as an Arizona point guard.
I think Abuka Kori would be another one from Stanford.
Hey, he's fantastic as well.
He's scored 33 today against NC State.
Those would be the first to look at to replace Jaden Bradley.
Now the keys to the game that I had, I had the keys that are often similar.
I said, win the rebounds by 12 or more and likely 15 plus
because Colorado is poor on the glass.
Well, if you look at the game, Arizona was closer to that number than you'd think.
Arizona won the glass by five, but this is a little bit deceptive
because they trailed and actually were out rebound
and second chance points did not go well.
So I would say they failed drastically in this one.
Now, pop, I think this is a pop game.
I said, I think this is a 60 pop game.
It was a 73 pop game, paint oriented points.
So for those of you with me, I made an acronym.
And this is a key for me for forever.
I think that paint oriented points is a very good indicator
of having the strongest way to win.
And it allows you so much freedom to find ways to win basketball games
because whether you're scoring easily or not,
if you put the ball near the rim, you're going to draw free throws.
And if you shoot free throws, that means you're going to get them in foul trouble.
They're going to grow weary and you wear them down.
It's been Arizona's recipes all season.
They've been great at it.
And in this game, they did so so well in the second half,
but they also were plus 14 in the first half in points in the paint.
So they achieved that goal.
73 in my goal is 60.
And I said, my biggest goal of the game was co-opete
needs to be the leading figure in the attack and get his legs and usage back up
so he can feel comfortable in his jumpers and contested layups in big games.
And I said, I think co-opete's going to have a game where he shoots 12 plus times
and hopefully gets the line a lot.
I want eight or more shots in the first half.
All of those things happen.
Coa was great.
The team had a concert effort to get them the ball.
Yeah, I think there was some rust.
I think defensively there was some lack of intensity.
And then Colorado started playing really well.
And that makes it hard to come back.
And it made it more impressive to me that they did win this game.
And then my next key was make their scards,
Hargris and Johnson scores rather than assist getters.
And boy did they score.
They were really, really good.
Hargris had 13 points, but he went to attend.
So my idea in terms of making him score
but inefficiently and going under his average hit.
Johnson on the other hand was spectacular.
28 points.
And he got to the line a lot to help that with 7 to 14.
So great efficiency.
And he also five assists.
I wanted under seven assists between those two that had eight.
And overall efficiency, they went nine of 24,
which I would say probably fits the bill.
Except Johnson was just so spectacular.
It's hard to say Arizona achieved the thing.
And then I said, I'll be curious to see if Arizona can get 30
plus points off of turnovers and or second chance points.
And the answer to that question was a no.
Points off of turnovers for Arizona, 12.
Second chance points, nine.
They got to 21 in a game where they scored 54 points in the pain.
So Arizona manufactured them in a half court
because Colorado only had nine turnovers.
And a lot of them were not live ball turnovers.
Arizona didn't achieve their goals,
other than the most important one,
which was get co-a-peat involved, get co-a-peat's legs under him
and make yourself the most dangerous version of your team,
heading into the real test of March.
It's March 7th, but what matters is what starts
in the mid-March and goes hopefully to the 6th of April.
I'll be back next with my final takeaways
of Arizona's game against Colorado.
But of course, there's season.
Hit me with some questions while I head to break.
Welcome to the five hour energy flavor draft.
We're looking at every aspect of the draft to let you know,
which tasty flavors are the best and which might just be the sleepers.
The board is set, the flavors are ready.
And only one is going to take the top spot.
Five hour energy has a wide variety of flavors, something for everyone.
Here's my Cinderella pick.
It's cotton candy, a delicious swirl of sugary clouds, a fruity twist,
a hint of vanilla at the sweet side of tasty caffeine.
And back to the top of the board, by one seat, if you will.
My top is the top of the board.
I'm going to go with berry, big, bold berry flavor, the slightly sweet,
very fruity flavor, classic mixed berry flavor with notes, a raspberry,
blackberry, find your new favorite flavor of five hour energy shots,
available online at fivehourenergy.com or on Amazon.
Welcome back to Lockdown Wild, Cat's Leaf, Tuline with you here.
And to answer a question, why am I sitting in a cramp corner?
I drove 11 hours today, and I'm in a hotel room with an alarm blaring at me.
So the best part of the day, one arriving safely, and two,
Arizona coming back and winning that game, improving to 29,
and two, and it's a special special season.
Teams just don't do that frequently.
You hit the 30 win mark on a whole season, including conference tournaments
and March Madness.
It's a special season to do, to be at 29 and 31 games,
knowing that the projected record through 13 games,
the non-conference by analytics and by most of you guys was nine and four.
I said Arizona could go 11 and two.
And then when they won against Florida, I thought, you know what?
There's a world they go undefeated and get to number one in the country by mid-January.
And I had all these bold takes.
And most of them were shot down, and I had a couple of believers in there.
And the crazy part is, I undershot Arizona.
Not only they get to 20 wins, and I said, okay, 18 and two when getting to number one overall
because they have so many quality wins was possible.
They went to 23 and 0.
And I still don't think Arizona has lost a game when fully healthy.
I think co-op it was hurt before they lost the game against Kansas.
I think they lost against Texas Tech.
It doesn't matter, but to me it matters because I think it's the best team in basketball.
Because when you have an all-American caliber player,
not it won't be an all-American, an all-American caliber player in the front court like co-op Pete.
When healthy, that can take over a game dynamically, physically,
and with the ability to pass the ball around.
All those things are great.
And then you say, okay, they got a better player and a better NBA prospect.
And Braden Burris.
And then they got a point guard who's probably going to be an all-American.
And then they have the best defender in all of college basketball.
And then they have a guy who's the best rebounder in all of college basketball.
And then they have the arguably the best perimeter defender in all of college basketball.
And these are all different people.
It's the best basketball team in the country.
It's the most talented team in the country, both for college and for the pros.
And they have coalesced, pun intended.
I've used that one a lot recently, so thank you guys.
And found a way to manufacture baskets at a very high rate.
And take away the other team strengths.
The best players on other teams, the exceptional Isaiah Johnson in this game,
have really, really struggled against Arizona.
And there's a reason for that.
And then Arizona in recent memory, when co-op Pete was out,
developed more of a, I wouldn't say reliance on three-point shooting,
but an ability to shoot it and a want to to shoot it.
And when he's back, they have more of an interior presence,
but it comes from different angles.
And you can have 25 from co-one day, or you can have 12 from co-one day.
And his 25, three rebounds and four assists, looks beautiful.
But it also is just as effective when he came in and played Iowa State
and locked down in all American.
And Joshua Jefferson holding the two of 17.
He brings different levels to this team.
Burries healthy after having the flu or whatever he had.
And then he had bronchitis and he fought three different things.
And the development of Burry throughout the season has elevated Arizona to a new level.
We thought Arizona was great, beating Florida.
We thought they were great, beating UConn.
We thought they were beat, the great beating Alabama.
I thought they were great in beating Houston.
A lot of those games, Braden Burries, other than the Alabama game,
didn't play well because he was a little injured at the beginning of the season,
and he was sick against Houston.
But this is the best player on the team, and he's just ascending.
Co-op Pete getting healthy.
The rest of the team taking over in those games.
Bradley knows when to step up.
I have faith in him in big moments.
Bradley able to play very, very well against Houston.
You watch Delor, so say, you know what?
My team needs me desperately in these two games, 22, 22.
Guy struggled for a month and a half of the season.
And all of a sudden was absolutely vital when the team needed him most.
And he's not one of those guys I mentioned in the previous, like, iteration of listing.
Okay, they've got an all-American guard.
They got a top 10 pick.
They got it.
All-American Calder forward.
The best defender in college basketball and all-American point guard.
A all-defense team, small forward.
Like, I didn't even mention a guy who started last year and scored a 10-a-game.
I mentioned the best rebounder in the country, and he comes off the bench.
And honestly, here's the craziest part.
I think Aristotle has played fantastically, too.
And this team, I think, is getting better.
And the game like this in which they did not play well.
But still found a way to win.
One, impresses me that they stayed together, and mentally were able to do so.
But two, serves as an alarm.
And says, you know what?
We don't want to dig ourselves holes.
Let's be better.
You can't rely on 30 from Burys.
31 from Burys and 25 from Pete.
But what does bring you confidence?
Is the fact co-op Pete was able to do so.
And do so efficiently in the first half in altitude.
His legs as long as all those things are getting better.
Well, I hope you guys have had a great day.
It's been a fantastic season.
Thank you guys for tuning in all season.
Really, really appreciate you guys.
It always makes me happy to talk to you guys on these.
And I'm going to try to find you, as promised, the winner of the prediction.
The score was 89.79, and this one.
I had 87.66 from Gregory Munoz.
I have 83.57 from Roger.
85.68 from Vegas, Allen.
105.58.92.69.
I believe the closest.
I don't even know.
It's been a long day.
None of them were particularly close.
Nor was I.
It's great.
Shout it out.
All you guys.
And I think that there's levels to Arizona to unpack.
I think they can get better on defense.
I think they can be more dominant and rebounding.
And I think this type of game enlightens Tommy Lloyd to that.
And they can play one of those toughness games against Houston.
Or they can say, yeah, you know, we'll shoot 1927 and a half
against Colorado.
Not many teams can have an either or in that.
Arizona can.
And you guys are privileged because this team's championship worthy.
Thank you guys for tuning in to post-cast leave to lean with you.
I'll be back tomorrow.
And give you a show that'll come out Monday.
And then coming out Tuesday.
I'm having Casey Jacobs in a Fox back on for the third time this season.
To answer the same question.
I've asked.
Is there is another front runner to win or all?
Well, how will they win it if they do?
And what will hold them back if they do not?
All that and more on Lockdown Wildcats this week.
Thanks for tuning in.
And I hope you have as great weekend as I hope to have here in Palm
Springs watching some protests.
Great to see you guys.
And I hope to see you in the NCAA tournament as well.
Get your tickets on.
And thanks for tuning in as always, bear it out.
