Carsen Ryan Joins Browns Tight End Crew

On April 29, the Cleveland Browns kept their 2026 draft with tight-end Carson Ryan at the 248th spot overall.

This BYU stand out tied for six in receiving yards among FPS tight-ends last season, hauling in 45 catches for 620 yards and three scores.

He rounds out their tight-end crew after other draft and free agency moves.

Ryan hails from a football bloodline.

His dad, Chase, crushed it as a linebacker at William Penn University, smashing school records for sacks and tackles for loss, then coached at Snow College.

Growing up, Carson balled in multiple sports, mixing football with baseball and basketball.

At 10-fue high in Provo, Utah, he played both tight-end and defensive end for three years, starting as a sophomore with solid numbers like 31 catches, 318 yards and five touchdowns, his first two seasons.

His junior year helps snag a regional title, adding 53 grabs for 609 yards and three more scores.

He shares a connection with Brown's rookie standout linebacker, Carson Schwestinger, from their UCLA overlap in 2022 and 2023.

Ryan transferred to BYU in January 2025, where his role as a pass catcher blew up, finishing third and team targets.

With that versatility and family grit, Ryan slots right into Cleveland's plans, bringing fresh legs and blocking chops to a loaded tight-end group.
