Cascadia Minerals' Graham Downs Discusses Headline Hole: 82.69 M at 1.78% CuEq, Including 49.16 M at 2.62% CuEq
About this episode
Cascadia Minerals just delivered one of the strongest intercepts in company history at its Carmacks copper-gold project in Yukon's Minto Copper Belt, extending Zone 2000S into ground the 2022 resource model had written off as barren. CEO Graham Downs joins the show to walk through the geology behind the discovery, the funding and drill sequencing behind an accelerated 18,000-metre program, and the path toward a resource update that could roughly double the deposit.

GetzGadium minerals turned heads on September 1, 2026 with whole CD-26-056, intercepting 82.69 meters at 1.78% copper equivalent, including a standard 49.16 meters at 2.62% copper equivalent. Seaogram downs called it one of the strongest intersections ever returned on the property. GetzGadium minerals is focused on the CarMax Copper Gold Project in the Yukon. The company already has a 2023 PA on its property and is targeting a pre-fisability in 2028 Seaogram downs and knows Yukon well having formerly run attack resources, which is acquired by Heckler-Mining in 2023. Graham, what kind of mining stock daily?
Thanks so much for having me. It's great to be here. Graham, we do want to talk about the interceptor and the hole in just a minute, but maybe we should just step back first and talk a little bit about what you're focused on. Your project is 40 kilometers away from the Minto mine? It is just to the south of Selkirk Copper's Minto mine and yeah, they're looking to put that back in production next year, too, I believe. Yeah, we're part of the between Selkirk and ourselves. Most of the Minto Copper Gold. Let's talk about the zone 2000S where you announced hole 56. You wrote in the news release that the area was originally thought to be barren. Yeah, absolutely. I just stepped back a little bit when we did our due diligence looking to acquire Granite Creek Copper almost exactly a year ago. We really thought that we could make this bigger and we thought there was a lot of places where we could grow the resource and we couldn't be happier with the results we're getting and the fact that there's a chance that we might be
able to connect the zone 147 and 2000 together. I mean a lot of success there, so very exciting. Can you talk about the drill program to date? You were saying that this was one of the strongest intersection ever. How does this compare to what you've seen in the drill results today? It really is. I think the big thing that makes this one stand apart is that the gold grade is really picked up in this area for some reason. We don't have the answer for the rationale behind that right yet, but it's almost double the hours that we see. Normally the gold grades are around .25 to .3. This one is .64, so that's very exciting. Just the width and being over 1%, a lot of most of our holes are around .8, .9, .7 in a lot of places, but being over 1% and having .7 over a copper equivalent is pretty massive as well. It's in an area that I guess going back a bit,
just this project is kind of languished in the sense that previous operators 10, 15 years ago, were just going after the thin veneer of oxide on this project and it wasn't until Granite Creek started turning things around and going after the sulfide. We were just in bad markets for so long. It just hasn't been the money to go after these things and again, back in over a decade ago, when previous operators actually hit the sulfide mineralization, they would actually stop in a lot of cases because that's not what they were looking for. Lots of opportunity around the deposits let alone on the entire property now. Now, I believe this is a third release building on the 2000 and S story since July. When do you expect assays coming back on the 6th pending? Well, we are looking to hopefully get another news release out for the next set of holes. We could try to batch them and we're looking to get those out before the B-Rick Creek conference down in Colorado. It coming up in a couple weeks here so at near the end of September. That's our goal and then we should have
pretty steady cadence for news. Probably news release every three weeks, approximately going probably right into January because we did increase the size of the meterage of the drill program. We're going to do 15,000. We bumped it up to 18,000. We'll just see whatever we can do with the success we're having in this area. We want to get as much done as we can this year. You're in the Yukon as a weather cooperating with adding that 3,000 meters on. So far so good, but you never know. It's pretty good. I think the big thing that is helpful for us is that you can drive into this project. Most of my career has been helicopters and that's where weather turns into an issue. It's actually kind of nice when you get nice hard roads to be able to drive in, which we have now. It's really just the temperature and we should be good for about another month or so. So no problem. Now you do have the other targets on. You have zone 14A
and zone A drilling now on the side alongside the 2000s. So three fronts in run right now. Where do you prioritizing in terms of rig time and resources? That's right. So we have a drill out at Zone. For your listeners, that's 11 kilometers away to the north where previous drilling in the 80s hits some very nice holes like over 20 meters of 2% copper. It's a much more variable zone. So it's not as consistent as Carmex, but what there had never been any orientated core used there in the past. So we just we want to get a couple holes in there and try to better understand the structures and kind of the tender mineralization. It's going to be a bit trickier, but it's got some great grapes. So we're happy to be there. We've made, we drilled as on 14 some parallel structures. We have two drills running right now and we'll have two running for to the end of the year. And then we want it. We're going to be doing a lot more regional work. I think one of the big things about the Carmex project prior to
maybe 2019 hit. It was a very small land package, but Granite Creek did a good job of consolidating to make this project 180 square kilometers and has so many other zones. And that's kind of what you see in the mental copper belt that you see these multiples zones. And that's what we're going to be really going after. Carmex is amazing itself, but we can find another couple deposits on this project. We'll be doing very well. Graham, can you talk about the sequencing of the planned reports? You had a webinar that came out after the drill intercept. You said that you wanted to double your resource given that you're targeting a pre-fisibility study around 2028. Just wondering what happens before then is there resource updates, PAs or anything like that? What are you looking in terms of timelines, in terms of kind of getting the economics from a 2000 and SO? So the key, I mean, there's going to be fluid. If we keep finding more, you know, we're just going to be hard to put a line in the sand, but that's a good problem to have.
I think our goal is to do another 20 plus thousand meters next year. I'd really like to see that closer to 30. You know, it all depends on how things go there, but maybe we that the current thinking is get a resource, updated resource in the fall of next year. And then in the meantime, all of next year is start all of the baseline work, or a lot has been done, but to get that started again, do all of that work, we have a lot of studies that we're going to be working on this winter and all of over next year to be able to feed into a pre-fisibility in 2028. But again, if we keep finding more in the resources, just getting bigger or we find another deposit, then we're going to have to really rethink how we do that. But the big takeaway is we really want to kind of put the foot down and move this forward as quickly as we can. Graham, could we just talk about your treasury and your funding? You do have an expiration alliance with EGLE, which is funding 5 million of the at 2026
field season. You expect that to continue? Absolutely. We have approximately just under 10 million Canadian in cash right now. We should exit this year and be well funded with approximately six to seven million going into next year to get started. And that's correct. EGLE EGLE did a concurrent financing a couple months ago, along with a strategic alliance to look for Copper Gold or Gold deposits within the Stakeen train in the Yukon, which is just absolutely under explored. So that's an exciting side piece to what we're doing. They are two separate things. That strategic alliance is just for other projects. There's no real interest in the Carmex, which is our flagship that we own 100%. Lastly, a relationship with Little Sam and Carmex First Nation. Where does that stand right now? Yeah, no, we're working on that. Actually, we've met with Chief and Council, did a tour of the
property with the Chief and the Council member recently, and we're really building that relationship. The area that we work in is a bit more of a brownfield area that's been worked on for decades. So it's an area I think there's acceptance to work in, and we're certainly building that relationship with Little Sam and look forward to continuing doing that going forward.
