On to Night's Show.
It was the Evan Mobley show tonight.
Evan Mobley was dominant.
We're going to dive into his performance.
We're talking about the fact that CAHBS got really solid balance bench scoring today,
including a point where we got to see the guys not in the rotation.
The two way players get a little action tonight as well.
We're going to dive into the fact that look, that did what they had to do tonight against
a bad team, and they're going to have a few more bad team matchups coming up in the
new future.
All of that and a whole lot more.
And if you hear live with me on YouTube, please be sure to get in that comment section.
Tell me what you think.
Give me your thoughts on the game as well.
I want to hear them.
But let's go ahead and get started a little different today with our Lockdown Player
of the Game.
This is the Lockdown Player of the Game.
Welcome to the Evan Mobley show.
Mobley played just three quarters tonight and he was dominant.
Now I know what we're going to say.
It's the Dallas Mavericks.
I also know what we're going to say.
He did his free throws.
Let's just get that out of the way.
We all know that.
Otherwise, I thought it was terrific tonight.
29 points, 12 of 15 from the floor, two of four from three, had seven rebounds, had two
assists, and a steal.
And I think often with Evan, we do this thing where we talk about who he's not, right?
All he doesn't shoot enough threes.
Oh, he doesn't hit his free throws.
That's only true this year.
And he needs to do more of this and more of that in.
I get it.
I think we all, when we see a guy get drafted that high, he's a guy who's got the big
max salary from his defensive player, the year bonus and things like that.
I think we should still take time to as much as we want to see him improve.
And I think he will improve.
We've got to remember he's still just 24.
We can appreciate where he's at now.
He's a working progress offensive.
He's still getting better.
He's still learning the offensive game, but it's not like he's bad.
He's really good at being this back to the basket guy.
He's really good at singing the Dunker Spot and making plays happen.
He's super good on the block.
And we're starting to see that three point shot come back a little more.
Now that free throw touch isn't there.
I think that's going to be a thing to catch really neat, obviously.
But we're seeing him kind of still elevate himself.
And now we also got to remember this is a guy who's got a lot of injury this year.
He's been in and out of the lineup.
He's had a couple those calf injuries that cost him to miss a little bit of time here
and there.
He's not going to be eligible for any awards because of that.
I think he can make the case.
He probably should have been an all star.
And all the replacements were added, probably not first vote, but when all those replacements
were getting added in, I think he's a guy who had a case to be added as a replacement.
But at the end of the day, that doesn't matter, right?
What the calves need from him is stuff like tonight, tying a season high in points, just
taking advantage of the matches where he's better than getting down hill.
These inverted pick and rolls having him in the short role where he's kind of a decision-maker.
That's where he's at his best tonight.
He didn't really have to do a lot of that because well, he was playing the Dallas Mavericks
and Marvin Baglow is guarding him.
But what we're able to get from Evan Bowie tonight is probably something the Cavaliers
are going to be moving forward.
Now, yes, I know.
Free throws are a conversation that has to be had and I'm not trying to skim away from
that.
He missed four free throws tonight.
He did everything else great and I think you can live with that.
And obviously, only had six points and a second half because you didn't have to play
the fourth quarter.
Had 23 in the first half and took advantage from there as well.
A huge night for Evan Bowie, a night that gives cast fans just that little glimmer of hope.
It's going to be really interesting as they start to get these guys back.
What does he look like?
I think especially there's going to be playoff matches if they're going to need him
and Jarrett together.
You're starting to see him really kind of get more camaraderie with James Hardin.
You see Jarrett and James are already fitting really well together.
It's been nice to see just those guys kind of pick it up as well.
But a huge day for Bowie kind of leading the Cavs and kind of anchoring both offensively
and defensively.
Awesome.
The Cavs definitely want to see more of as well.
But one thing that also really jumped out today for the Cavaliers was really balanced
bench scoring.
They got a little bit of everything from guys who played big minutes.
We're going to talk about that more right after this break.
The season's heating up in DoorDash has a very good keep fans in their bag the whole

It's so great to have you guys here and I'm really excited getting to know you guys as
we discuss the Cleveland Cavaliers on a game-to-game basis.
And tonight, while it was a blowout game in the cabs of Vantage, it did have a little
bit of X factor tonight and that was the cabs bench.
It's time to reveal who made the biggest under the radar impact with today's X factor.
So the bench scoring tonight was honestly really balanced.
Thomas Bryant leads the way with 11 points though a lot of that does come in garbage time
when they have all the reserves in.
You got 11 from him, 8 from Jalen Tyson, 8 from Dennis Shooter, Dennis Shooter was awesome
tonight.
8 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists.
Craig Porter Jr., who had played a whole lot recently with Sam Merrill out tonight, takes
advantage of his minutes, puts 5 points in as well with 4 rebounds, just kind of being
that go getter.
Nick Juan Tomlin, I know when the minutes were that he got them, but 8 points as well had
a really, really cool behind the back, a really nice dunk pass to Thomas Bryant for the
dunk.
That's what I meant to say, words are hard.
I thought tonight what they got from the bench was really fascinating and something that
really jumped out as the Cavaliers are kind of winding the season down.
We just have about 15 games left.
We're going to get more guys back.
And these are all guys trying to show that they prove that they belong in the rotation.
Now, as you know, and the playoffs come around, you shorten your rotation quite a bit.
And all these guys are trying to put their foot in the door to say I should be there.
And it's going to be really hard to cut some guys down.
I understand.
Can he and staff have a lot of tough decisions to make there?
You can suspect, obviously, Jalen, Dennis, I think Thomas, I think those guys are for
sure in there.
But if you play 8, that's your 8, oh, I mean, no, it gets even harder, right?
Because when Jared's back, when Max is back, Keon Ellis goes back to the bench.
And so I'm fascinated, slash nervous, and also match up by matchups, say you get Orlando
in the first round, you move that around.
So you get the joy in the second, you can move that around as well.
And, but the Cavs are going to have some really tough decisions to make there.
As far as who they're going to be this guys.
I know that's kind of the emphasis of every Cavaliers podcast right now talking about winding
down and getting ready for the post season as well.
Who's on the other side of the rotation?
Who's the guy that doesn't make it?
So it's going to be really fascinating to see how that goes.
I look forward to seeing it.
But I'm really enjoying how this team played tonight coming off the lost to Orlando, just
taking care of business and just kind of really making sure they're taking their way in
the ground and not letting them take over.
So if you look kind of the bench was really, really helpful tonight.
The Cavs won three of the four quarters tonight as well, but the one that they didn't
win, they tied at 29 in the second.
So, and the margins were pretty decent.
So the first quarter, they win by 17, the third quarter, they win by eight, the fourth
quarter, they win by eight again, and that's in garbage time when both teams are putting
their reserves in.
So I thought that was something that really jumped out as well.
One thing that really impressed me was the Cavaliers ability to kind of force turnovers
and make place happen and taking advantage of points off turnovers as they force 17
turnovers tonight.
And I thought defensively, they were really solid overall, defensively, I mean, the bench
and the starters should at holding the Mavericks is shooting 44% from the floor.
Shooting 27% from three on 33 shot attempts.
I thought the Cavs really kind of had one of their better defensive games of the year.
You didn't see kind of those mistakes with over helping, we're leaving guys open in
the corner.
You didn't see a whole lot of that.
And so that was a nice as well.
And obviously, you get that because you're playing teams like a Dallas Mavericks who don't
want to win.
And you know what?
That's not a bad thing as the Cavaliers like to win the season down.

So one thing that people are going to be talking about is the Cavaliers taking a
advantage of bad teams and getting wins.
And they started that tonight.
Time to reveal where the game was once or most it's the turning point.
Well, I hit the wrong button.
I'll just say this is what you're talking about button.
But hey, you know what?
It's Friday night.
We're all a little tired.
We got through this.
But with that being said, so this was kind of the first night of a big stretch for
the cats aren't playing very good basketball teams.
And at this point in the year, you're trying to fully solidify home court advantage.
You play, you know, right now you're the foreseed.
Go and take advantage of that.
So you have Dallas tonight.
You get Dallas again on Sunday.
You really have an easy schedule coming up.
You have no walkie of Chicago.
If you listen to Danny show today, he kind of did a deep dive into the schedule coming
up as well.
But with how many of these games they have left, you want to get everyone you can get
obviously.
And you're going to get to take advantage of these matchups and taste the good way you
can out of them.
So Dallas has good players.
I don't want to act like they're just like completely terrible, though they are making
the emphasis of tanking.
They're giving Cooper flag a lot of opportunities here.
They have guys that really love like Naji Marshall, Naji Marshall is like a dream Cleveland
Cavalier for me.
So to see him kind of have a game he had where Cleveland kind of struggled with them, honestly,
but he was also a minus 17 in his minutes.
So really kind of want to see that kind of go through Cooper flag tonight with 25 points.
I mean, there was the, there were the two guys, right?
It's those two against the cast tonight.
I thought the cast held their own the rest of the way.
And Marvin back lonely at four points, Max Christie had a so, so game and then Dwight
Powell gave them some decent minutes off the bench, but other than that, Cleveland just
kind of took it to him, put their foot on the gas pedal and didn't give them any hope
moving forward.
So that's what we want to see from this cast team moving forward, especially because you
know, you see these seem this team again here in a couple days, but this time on your
court at Rocket Arena.
And so you want to see the Cavaliers kind of just kind of keep stomping that through,
especially as you look forward, because I'm looking at the schedule here.
Just to make sure I have all my days correct with getting chords out, you know, at the
point of the year.
So obviously, like I said, you got Dallas on Sunday, you got Milwaukee and Chicago and New
Orleans on a short road trip.
Then you come home for a homestand against Orlando and two games against Miami.
And then you have one final West Coast trip.
And we all know anything can happen on those, but Golden State, the Lakers, Utah, those
are games.
Obviously you think the Lakers, I mean, the Cavs should win under the Lakers are probably
the best in that team so far.
And then you come home for Indiana, you go to Memphis and then you have two against
Atlanta and you have one against Washington, which right now Atlanta is kind of playing
good basketball and trying to get themselves in that playing situation.
So, but I think if you look down the way, even though they have that lost to Orlando
already, and they have lost the Golden State this year, they have a loss to Utah this
year.
I think you like the Cavs in all of those games.
So I suspect they're going to be picking up a lot more wins as we wind down the season.
And I'm going to go ahead and get out of here for this show.
Thank you all so much for hanging out with me.
I had a lot of fun.
Let's get back to it on Sunday, this same matchup with this time at Rocket Arena.
Let's go Cavs.
I will talk to you all then.
Have a great rest of your evening.
