Alleged 2026 footage of Champ, Lake Champlain’s legendary monster, brings America’s answer to Nessie into the age of cameras, drones, and frame-by-frame scrutiny.

Lake Champlain stretches roughly 125 miles along New York, Vermont, and Quebec, carrying generations of eyewitness reports and regional folklore. Filmmakers Richard Rossi and Kelly Tabor say they noticed a long, narrow shape moving behind their boat while reviewing footage made for Lucy and the Lake Monster. The object was not recognized during filming, and the recording does not by itself prove an unknown animal—but that delayed discovery gives the claim its eerie power.

Thursday Thrills places the footage beside modern searches at Loch Ness, where underwater mapping and increasingly sophisticated equipment keep testing an old question without settling it. Henrique Couto also visits the Bear Lake Monster of Utah and Idaho, the 1969 Lake Worth Monster reports in Texas, and even sewer-alligator lore to explore how each community gives the darkness beneath the water a local name.

This episode distinguishes reported encounters and promotional folklore from verified zoological evidence. Logs, wakes, birds, fish, reflections, distance, and camera perspective can manufacture convincing shapes. Yet lake-monster legends persist because deep water hides scale and context so effectively: witnesses see a neck, hump, wake, or moving shadow while imagination supplies the enormous creature below.
