2:04Squad up, the Chiefs Squad Show starts now. Squad up indeed, the Chiefs Squad Show is often rolling on a Thursday. It is our final episode before the regular season returns for Kansas City. We made it and we appreciate you all. I'm Darren Ledge, JC Pearson, Chris Clark and Darren Smith. Here's what we got on tap for today. It's a rest or rust for Kansas City in week one after that interesting preseason strategy. We debate no limitations on Patrick Will Holmes will we change his style of play after the major knee injury. Rishi Rice set the podium on this Thursday talks about his relationship with Eric B. Enemy. We talked to major matchups as well as make our official predictions. I'm going to keep track this year so we can have it in black and white. Those don't lie. Who's doing what and who's going to which way ahead of this Denver matchup. 3:05It was something we hadn't seen before. Usually, the starters get some time in the preseason, but that did not happen this year as Kansas City employs a new strategy in the preseason. So JC, how about you kick us off from this one? We've talked about this a lot. Now it's again time to debate it one more time before it gets real here in week one. Rush or rest, what are your expectations? What will work? What do you see happening on Monday night? Man, you got to trust in Andy and E.B. and Vich and those guys. You would think that they know their guys and see them on a day-to-day basis so they know what they're doing. You hear about how tough their training camp was. So maybe he was giving those guys some rest, but you would have to think that there's got to be some rust. Has to be. Those guys haven't played together. The ones that did play only played a little.

4:08So you would think that there has to be some rust. I would say don't get discouraged. I hope they come out guns blazing, but I think it's going to be kind of an iffy start. Is that a similar expectation that you share, Chris Clark? Yeah, I think there's going to be rust. I don't think that there's any other way to go into the season other than expecting some rust because you didn't have homes playing with this starting offense at all. She riced and Xavier really didn't get any targets. They were out there for a couple of snaps. They did a couple of things. With Walker hardly got any time on offense. He got I think one run maybe two. The entire preseason sure he was out there for some snaps, but that's not really getting into any kind of flow Travis Kelsey had a catch. I just don't think that you're going to be in sync week one, but you have to go out there and you have to perform and this is going to be a huge test going up against one of the best defenses in football.

5:10There for a while it felt like KC could win with their C plus game where they could have a B minus game and go out there and find it late in the fourth quarter and pull out a win. Do you still feel that way about this 20 2016? Are you expecting rust? I'm not expecting a little rust just after, especially when we saw last night as in the indication and hopefully what we don't see tonight. After we get off the show watching the Netflix game. There will be a little bit of rust because the players didn't play as much, but we can't have a way the outside of Patrick. We talked about players getting the series in or getting some kind of game action if anything. That's when we were asking for my homes, he didn't get it. The rest of the starters for the most extent got at least a series or two that they got some action in. That's what we were hoping for for these Patrick. We came on one day and say what they didn't do this, but they did get a couple of series

6:13of action now. Wasn't that just going to translate? I think we're going to see a little bit of rust early on. But to your main point about what I expect, I mean, because they have a different offensive coordinator who to me is going to be somebody that will actually get in their behind us to make sure that they stay focused and do the things that they pay attention to my new details. I trust that they push them to shove late in the fourth quarter. I think they'll be on their peas and chews. I don't have any doubt that if it's a close game, we're taking pull it out. This is a little deceiving to me because I know the first 15 are scripted. I know the first 15 might look clean. The first 15 is what they've been working on in training camp in St. Joe and now back to the practice facility. I mean, they've been looking at tape on Denver and how they want to attack them in that first 15. I think the first 15 is going to look clean. But when it is a little off script, somebody gets behind the chains when it is third and

7:14long, when it is a situation where you need to get 10 points back in a hurry or you're trying to do something to the two men. That's where it worries me a little bit when things aren't on script, when things aren't as prepared. I just wonder how it all fits together. This is just something we've never seen before. We're known for KC to do it one type away. And now they're breaking their mold, which is something I asked for, so I'm appreciative of that. But at the same time, it adds to that uncertainty of the many uncertainties they have coming into this week. And the big one, of course, is that a left tackle. Does he, being an undrafted free agent? I know he's been here since the OTA's and many camps and all that stuff. But does he allow you to be free offensively, meaning EB and Andy and do all the things that you want to do because you have to consider him also. You can't just say, oh, he's been here and he's been practicing.

8:17So we're just going to go internally. You've got to consider him because of the guy that he's protecting. So does that limit them and hinder them also? Yeah, my home's asked about Kalil Benson starting at left tackle. And this one says, quote, I mean, that's the beauty of football. It's next man up. You got to go out there and compete. And these guys have gotten a ton of reps and training camp. They've gotten a ton of reps throughout their entire life. And they're going to go out there and live their dreams as well. I've got trust in anyone that the coaches put out there because I know they've worked their tail off to get to that spot. Pat is a PR professional and this is another example of that. This is a, I know Chris would say, well, what do you expect him to say? This was one of those things I completely understand. Pat has to say something. But I wonder if he stays as politically correct if a couple of reps don't necessarily go his way. That's the thing that kind of interests me about this Kalil Benson conversation. Like, at what point do you hit the ejector button?

9:18And at what point do you say, this isn't working? Are you just saddled to this? Are you stuck to this with the backup plan? That's the curious part from me about left tackle for Casey entering this. See, where else do you go Monday night? I can get Darren out there for a couple of snaps. I depend on this as pre gates or post gates. Just saying. Post gates, I'm having thatitis. I can be able to do it. Chris, is there a backup plan or is it Benson's position? And he's trying to ride it out. Did you say a black up plan? I think it has to be, I think you have to be looking at the fact that if it doesn't work out for Benson early on, I think they have to probably be figuring that you'll go to Diego Pounds or Azudu. I mean, I think those are your two options. I don't think that they want to move Jalen Moore to the other side. Now, here's the other thing that is going to be interesting in this is, I was thinking about this before we started the show. If they decided that they wanted to put Jalen Moore at left tackle and played Benson at

10:20right tackle, how's that really change things? Yeah, it's not Pat's blind side. I get that. But are you going to tell me that Denver isn't going to just take Benito and put him against Benson anyway? To me, Benson being out there, he's going to get their best pass rusher because they're going to test him no matter what. I understand there's a little bit more issue with it being the left tackle spot. I get that. But it's going to be one of those things regardless. Yep. Wherever he's at, even if he lined up at guard. And I mean, that's just the way it is. Even if he lined up at guard, they're going to try him. So it's not just the physical part of it either. I mean, they're going to make him have to think. They're going to make him have to switch off on, you know, they're going to run stunts. They're going to run twists. They're going to run all kinds of stuff at them. So it's not just a physical part. He's going to have to think mentally also and make sure that he's passing off the right

11:21guy at the right time and he knows what to trust me. And they're going to do everything they can to confuse him Monday night. I will say this. I will say there will be mistakes here and there talking about Benson. But at the end of the day, you got to go out there and trust those guys to make plays whenever the plays need to be made. My back, Chris. No, you're good. I will say this 22 and 6 is their record with Patrick Mahoms as they're starting quarterback in September. So they know how to play football. They know how to play football early. The difference is like we started this segment talking about rest versus rust. The other thing that they haven't had the past several years of Patrick Mahoms is they haven't had the rest that they've had this offseason because they didn't play football in January. They didn't play football in February. They've had more rest this offseason than they've had in years. So I'm going to be very interested to see what this team looks like. And I do think that Mahoms could be a little rusty. I'm just questioning how it all plays together. And you have to put Benson in the right spot or in the best possible spot for him.

12:23And to me, that's running the ball with right at Benito. He's a good run blocker. Go use that to your advantage as much as you possibly can. 22 and 6. I would argue that Mahoms has never come out of this situation though. This is a completely different patch of ball. Sure. I'm not saying it's not a different situation. Granted, for sure, coming off the injury, all that, I get it. But 22 and 6, I mean, he's been here before. This team has been here before. And it's not like they've had a stable of great young talent at left tackle. This is what is 10th left tackle that he's going to be starting with. The up. I mean, so we'll see. And we'll see Darren, you've been banging the drum this whole time about how important this game is though, especially specific to the division standings. Why play with your food? Why play with your strategy going into such an important opener? Based off what Jayce said earlier, we have to trust in that Andy is doing the right thing

13:26and that he knows what he's doing. Again, I still go back to Patrick and others, body better than most. Patrick is not going to put himself or the organization or the team, saying any sort of disadvantage if he wasn't 100%. So I'm not presuming that Chris is thinking that the sky has fallen, but I won't. I want people to like as much as I understand everything, you know, we have to trust and believe that they know what they're doing. And again, I always thought that he would be, you know, Patrick, be playing week number one. And I still think that the cheese is going to beat Denver. You know, I'm not saying they're going to beat him in the game. So I mean, I'm not really too concerned about how much because again, it's going to be, it's really going to be rust on both teams. I mean, that's, you know, because it's not like their starters were playing every preseason game as well. So and trust me, the amount of work that my homes had to do to get to this point, you know, outside of being hit, I mean, I think he's in, I think he's in much better shaping

14:31condition than a lot of people taking for because he had to do more work to get to this point. So I mean, I'm not really too concerned about the left tackle because again, to me, when it comes to a little Benson, I mean, you know, he played at the highest level, I actually went in national titles. So I could have been on the right side, of course, but I still think when the moment comes, he's going, you know, I think he's going to be, I think he's going to surprise a lot of people because I still think you get, you know, he could play itself in a situation where he's walley pipping Josh Simmons. And so that's, you know, that's that that can be the, you know, that should be the conversation coming out of next week. Yeah, it's just just a tough, tough opener for him because, you know, from, from what I understand, I mean, he didn't even play left tackle in high school, you know, let, let alone college. So you're switching, yeah, and, you know, everything is different like, you know, and I can, uh, compare it to playing right corner versus left corner.

15:34Everything is completely different, opposite wise, your, your stance, the hand that you, you punch with the things that you see, everything is completely different. Um, and so for him to not have really ever played left tackle and now, you know, he's jumping in there. Hey, you know, he's got to look at it as an opportunity, right? Everybody else might be saying, hey, I'm not, I'm not sure. I don't know. He's got to be looking at it as an opportunity and, uh, and go out and play that way. But let's also look at it like this. I'm, I'm sorry, go ahead, Chris. I was just going to say to JC's point though, it is completely different playing left tackle and right tackle. And that makes it even more understandable to an extent why you wouldn't want to move Jalen more over for a game or two because then you're asking him to like, switch over and then switch back over if Simmons comes back. So, you know, I get it. I like it. Well, yeah. And like you said last or Tuesday, you know, why, why weaken two spots, right?

16:39Because that's not Jalen's natural spot either. So, you know, let him let everybody else be where they are and then we'll try to help this guy over here and then there's only one spot that, you know, that, that is, is possibly weaker, you know, but everybody else is where they are. Yeah. Maybe I'm a beat, maybe I'm a play the role that was advocate, but I think that I know I can't believe this. Come on over to the dark side. I'm not going that far. I'm not going that far. But what I will say is I'm going to, I mean, what does it say if they have that much? No. Who else, who else they have? No, no, no, no. Who else they got? No, no, no, no, no. What I was saying, what's it say, but what's it say about his, his mental, his mental IQ and the fact that he's able, that they have that much trust him to put him out left tackle. If he, if he hasn't played him as, I mean, again, you know, because I don't think playing for a cursing that, you know, saying, I mean, he was just, you know, they want an extra

17:41title when what, 15 and old last year, I mean, he's, he's a gamer. So perhaps, so I'm again, but, but again, if he, you know, if they trust him enough, he, I mean, he must be pretty good to be able to get you, I mean, you brought in a couple of players that you could easily put in place of him. So, you know, it's not an incurred must be pretty, again, we'll see come Monday night, but I'm going to err on the side of he must be doing something right and must be able to adapt to be able to, you know, to be going, starting first team unit against the number of Broncos. Hey, hey, hey, I wish him the best, but, you know, there's only three rookies starting at tackles, week one. And him being one and undraft the free agent, the other two guys are first round draft choices. Yeah, final out of clean. No, no, for real. Yeah, yeah, yeah, do it. I'm fine with you. Do it in a dude in Carolina. But yeah, so I mean, that's, that's saying a lot.

18:42So either that's what I'm saying. Yeah, either. Yeah, we'll see. But hopefully, hopefully he's able to step in and, and, and play well, you know, but again, they still are going to have to help him. They're going to have to help him get settled. They're going to have to help him get comfortable and, you know, they're, they can't just, it's not just business as usual. They can say that it won't be not with an undrafted free agent, starting his very first game of his career at left tackle. No. Let's take a quick time out here on the cheese squad show. It will be the return to play for Patrick Maholmes. He was injured on December 14th of last year and he is all the way back and set to start in this game for Kansas City. Andy Reed from the podium on Thursday says, quote, we won't hold anything back that we wouldn't normally run. But we've had this conversation before and I have another quote from Maholmes in a minute. But let's just toss this up to our conversation now. He was a runner at first early in the year last year. It seemed like because the running offense was stolen out, Pacheco was slow to get going.

22:48Maholmes took it into his own hands and was run first at some points in time. But we said multiple times after his injury in the off season, now leading up to week one, that he's going to have to adapt his playing style now that he's coming off this major injury to kind of protect himself. Chris Clark, you start us off on this one. Do we still feel that same way? We expect a different play style from Maholmes in 2026 starting in week one. We should. I don't think we're going to get one. That's the problem. I think he's going to try to be Maholmes like normal and I would love to say that he will not try running as much as he did last year. But if he gets down into it, I think he will. So that's my bigger issue is I hope that he is willing to just get the ball out quick and not try to take off near as much as he did last year. Because I think that's where he's going to put himself at risk of injury. Some of that is game script. Some of that is the coach is kind of putting him in the best position to succeed. But also it's about that front five holding up Darren. You got to know the faith that you have in Benson.

23:49Maholmes has got to share some of that. I got more faith in Maholmes than I do Benson, but I mean, but to Chris's point, I mean, I think he's I think excited in his press today. He's going to play the way he plays. I mean, he says he's going to be careful, but if there's but it's football, this is what he signed up for, which is, I respect that I know JC does even though he may say otherwise. I mean, that's just this is what he is what he signed up for. So I mean, he's not going to play scared and fans and others shouldn't be trying to put him in a bubble wrap. Like, it's a violent game. He's going to get hit. He's going to run the football. He's going to take a tackle. The question is, you know, whether or not he slides in enough time where he can protect himself. We don't worry, you know, I have to worry about the quote unquote big kid, but he's going to play football. He's a football player. And the sooner that we get out this mindset that, you know, Patrick, you know, don't do this, or don't, you know, I mean, you know, he's going to get hurt to us or to people who are

24:52freaking out about his play style or whatever more than he's worried about it himself. Like, let the man play, let the, you know, let the game unfold and see how it doesn't happen. Again, we'll circle back around Monday night post game, but, you know, I think, you know, I think a lot of people probably need to just calm down because he's going to, he's going to play Patrick my own football regardless of what anybody thinks. Yeah. I mean, I think, you know, after the first couple hits after he, you know, says, hey, you know, take some hits. I'm good. I'm still good. I think he's right back to, you know, I mean, instincts or instincts, you know, now he may not be comfortable because oladokin is not here anymore, but, you know, somebody, somebody was, you know, you got to take the L's with the W's. You got to take the L's with the W's. But, you know, that was just a jab at my guy. But, but no, I mean, you know, he's going to be who he is, man, and, you know, I mean, once you're out there playing, your instincts take over, man, you don't, you don't have time

25:54to be thinking about, oh, my, you know, this or that hurts or that, you know, it's either it is or not. And, you know, one thing they used to tell us, hey, if you're out there, if you're out there playing, we expect you to be, expect you to make the plays. We expect you to be 100%. If you're, if you're hurting and you're not 100%, don't go out there. And so he's going out there. And so he's going, he's going to play the way he plays. And that's, you know, that's what made him what he is and who he is. I don't doubt him whatsoever. You know, so, you know, I, you know, that, that is, there's why they brought the running back in to try to take some of that off of him. And, but when it's his turn to step up and make a play and get out the pocket, whatever, I think he's going to, he's going to do it. The same thing he's always done. Patrick, my home's quote, I think you've got to go out there and be yourself. I've built up the strength. I've built up all the days of rehab so that I can be myself.

26:57I'm going to keep myself out of harm's way. Like I always will. I don't try to take big hits and stuff like that. But I'm a competitor. I signed up for this and I'm going to go out there and play football. That sounds good. Is that, is that, is that a, is that a message or subliminal message? Or, you know, was he just talking about himself? I don't know. I'm out of the job with somebody on this show. Oh, speaking of the job, they see, I'm out of the tech. We said, if you try to do the jobs with me, you would not be right over Sunday dinner. Well, hey, well, they're going to jabs then. Hey, I ain't passing up on those Sunday dinner. So we all good. I think it's bigger than just my home's protecting him. So like nobody's asking them to go out there and play scared. I think the other part of this conversation is, is it best for the health of the office if my home continues to run and scramble and keep the ball? There were times when he came on in the post game show last year where we said, he's just keep, he's holding on to it. A tick too long.

27:57The offense is a whole maybe would move better if he moves through one to two reads and then gets rid of the ball. I just think now that we're in this phase of dynasty 2.0, trying to rethink a lot of things, new offensive coordinator, getting the wide receivers on the same page. Maybe it's best for everybody. He packs long term health being one of it, but the also just the long term health and the 2020 26 success of the offense that he is a faster read, faster processor and kind of gets the ball out more quickly. Darin seems like you don't agree. Well, no, I mean, I mean, the pushback and I know Chris was out. This is the simple fact. We didn't have a real run game last year. So I mean, that, that, I mean, that's a big difference. And I can't not beat over the head as much as saying, you're going to have a different office of coordinator working in Andy and they were going to run the football. We have an effective run game that we have in Kenneth Walker, proven with him, you know, with him coming in and then the back of that we have. I mean, so we have a much younger, spryer, faster run game that he has to work with.

29:01So again, as much as you want to talk about the run block of self, that run game is going to be able to protect him because they'll be able to move the football to where you're not worried about second and nine, third and eight because, you know, because they can't get anything. So, so the play calling will be different to play calling will be better, especially after last season play call with. So he'll be in better situations and they will actually be able to utilize the clock more that will, again, because, you know, they, because of all the second and long, starting long as the situation, then you get the incomplete passage. You're stopping the clock and you're hurting the defense because you're putting them right back out there to where the, you know, the office couldn't extend plays. I don't foresee that happened in this season. I think in a perfect world, yeah, that'd be great. Yeah, that'd be perfect. It's got to be better than what it was last year. You know, I think they got to move, move the pocket too, especially this week. You know, and not just let him drop back and be a sitting duck back there and then have

30:06to look around. He's always been better, you know, moving around anyway. He's not a timing guy, one, two, three, get rid of the ball, one, two, three, four, five, get rid of the ball. He's, he's never really been that kind of guy. So I think if they get, move the pocket, get him outside, you know, free up his vision a little bit, you know, and then that gives him kind of a, a two way go also and not just looking at, you know, linebackers and D.N.'s coming up the field and tackles, pushing in his face and that kind of stuff. So, you know, they got to be creative, but I think they'll move him a little bit too. Four and a half, basically four and a half rushes per game last year. Do you go over under on that in 2026 for my homes? I mean, week one, maybe under, but after that, oh, that's right. My potatoes, Chris, there's no one, bed man.

31:06If he runs, if he has four tips and he's, and he's pretty good at it, he's going, he going to miss, he's going to stop filling himself. And you know, he might, you know, I mean, if something opens up in the season angle, we can get a few yards. You can get a first now. I could see where he still goes over that. So I say over. So scrambles, I mean, break down, drop back pass and get out of there and run is an attempt. Is that what you're counting that as, oh yeah, he's going to go over as well. I also think this is game script as well. If Casey is down and searching for points, they're going to be passing more and my home's going to have the ball in his hand more, which generally makes me think that there's going to be a couple more of those scrambles and run outs and whatnot. And I'm going to say this because because we talked about the first 15th, good to place. I've got a feeling that Andy is going to script a quarterback run just to prove that Patrick can run and put himself in position to take a take a, take a blaster and do like that.

32:10But to take a hit. So I mean, I do believe within the first 15th place, there's going to be a quarterback running there somewhere. I don't know if it's going to be scripted, but I think he may get out of there and move around because it seemed like, yeah, he might not have a choice, but it seemed like in training camp, he was doing a lot of that just to kind of prove to everybody that he could do it. And we've seen him hopping around and jumping around and all that. And we're like, bro, what are you doing, man? But I think he's going to go in and doing a lot of those things that try to prove to everybody that he's good and that his knee is good. So that's a good and a bad thing. But yeah, I think he's going to be moving around. I'll say this. He is going to run because you know how they like to introduce the offer. He's going to be the last person out of whatever. You kind of see that he cares and he loves the game. So he makes us love the game as much as he does. This is your department, Darren Smith. You've been begging for Mr. Accountability, Mr. Discipline. I read this quote and I'm saying, Richie Rice has never had a position coach that's been on him before they kind of just let him free roam and hey, Hey, Richie, do whatever you want in the offseason and all you want to work hard. Sure. If you don't, that's okay too. Finally, he's got some leadership and accountability along the coaching set. Where has this been? Well, according to the players and according to I guess fans, whatever, the previous

36:18wild receiver coach would not at great. So, you know, I mean, that's a that's a Andy Rie, Brent Beach question there. But, you know, the fact that, you know, one, it's nothing that he could say that could discredit Vietnamese at the podium. So you can't, you know, so as Chris will say, what do you expect him to say? You know, so I mean, that's, I mean, that's good. I mean, to where he acknowledged that, yes, you know, the hard coaching is paying, has paid off on button again, we have to see that translated out on the field because the enemy doesn't call somebody hardhead without, you know, without a reason. And so hopefully, whatever coaching and discipline and accountability that he says that Vietnamese provided for him, we see that translated come Monday night. Because again, you can say all the stuff that you want to put him, but at the end of the day, Joe time is going to be Monday night 720 on ESPN. So we got it, you know, we'll see.

37:18JC looks like he's at his wits in with number four in the Kansas City before he shaking his head, putting his head down. What's wrong? I mean, no, no, I'm just, you know, I just don't like it, man. I mean, I just don't like it. You don't like what? I mean, I don't like the comment, man, because, man, you're a professional. If you're relying on a coach to push you and this is going, he's going into what, year five or year four, if you want to be the best player that you can be, man, you're studying on your own, you're working out, you're doing all those things. And now I got to, you know, oh, man, this coach is on me every day. And, you know, and, and so it's different for me. What? Man, you know, so no, I don't, I don't like that comment. And, well, JC, you know, he ain't been doing what he's supposed to do in the off season. If he was doing what he was supposed to do in the off season, we wouldn't be in this

38:19position to begin with. Yeah, that's true. And, but, you know, again, are you ever going to get the best out of him and somebody like that that, you know, says he has to, you know, so what have you been doing all these other years? You just been relying on, you know, what, I'm going to just show up and whatever the coach says, you know, or he let me go, but oh, now I got a tough coach. So now I got to mine my pees and cues, you know, you're never going to get a guy like that who has to rely on somebody else to motivate him to be the best that he can be. At this level, you know, you got to motivate yourself to be, you know, you're all, you're grown. Everybody's a man. Everybody's a pro. And, you know, it's on you to, it doesn't matter if you got the worst coach in there. I'm going to do everything I can and I'm going to study the best players out there. I'm going to talk to other players. I'm going to do, you know, like Travis and those guys go to, you know, tight in you, you

39:22know, so they're, they're, you know, sharing ideas and there's, there's a past rush you, the time when those guys used to go to, I mean, you know, if you want to be the best, there's ways that regardless of who's in your room, who's coaching, I don't care. I'm going to be the best that I can be. But, you know, at the end of the day, you want the second contract, so you got to put the work in and get, be in a, you want a coach that can push and motivate you, but you don't want that to be like the reason why you feel like, okay, this is what's making me a better player. You know, they're supposed to be there to just, you know, to add to it. And, you know, but, but, but not be the source as to why you feel like that. That's making me a better player because you should already be doing it. Like, first of all, when you name gets called and you, and you get, you get, you know, drafted to the league where you get signed, you know, as a free agent, you should have that won't do because that's your full time job. Like, you asked, I mean, you'd be an asked to play a game, a game study.

40:22You know, perfect your position. And, and, and when you're out of the season, you only got with nine, nine positions. You know, I mean, nine, nine routes to run, perfected, you know, perfected to a tee. And when you, and when you got people relying on you, I mean, he's supposed to be the number one, he's supposed to, he is number one, JC. Okay. That was number one, but we'll go for one. Yeah. But, you know, you know, you get what I'm saying though. I mean, so, hey, all that being said though, hope, hope that is true and hope E.B. is going to get the best out of them. But yeah, at some point you run out of excuses though, right? So it's time to, you know, what's next? Now what? So it's time to, time to do your thing. Chris, there was also a knee, a knee clean up in a knee part of this whole off season for Richie, right? What are your expectations for, for four going into this season opener? He has to ball out. He has to be the number one guy for this team. Like that is what he is here for right now.

41:24That's the only reason he's still in Kansas cities because they believe he has the talent to be their guy. And I'm not saying he's going to get paid in Kansas city, but he needs to act like he's going to get paid in the off season. So he has to go out there and he has to, you know, do as much as he possibly can. I don't know what that looks like. I don't know what his stat lines up being, but, you know, he should be trying to get, you know, 100 to 125 yards every single game and a touchdown. Like he needs to be the guy in Kansas city and he needs to go out and play because that's the only way he's going to get a contract with all the stuff that he's done in the, in the past three years. And that's the thing that I picked up on that I've been saying, you know, for him, if he, if he does what Chris says, then the team is going to be successful because he's balling out and, and, and I mean, I relate to say because it kind of goes against the Dacey's thing about him being my receiver number one, but if he balls out, that means that the team is playing well and the team is successful. So, and he, yeah, so, so, so, so if you're a fan, you want him to ball out because that's

42:27going to translate to success because if he's balling out, that's also going to mean that Xavier worthy and Travis Kelsey and everybody else is contributing to the team success. And my home just, and my home is doing well because he's obviously doing something with right. So, I mean, to be honest, there's a lot of pressure. He should be feeling like there's a lot of pressure on him to perform for one, the team success because if the team is successful, again, I'm like, Chris, no, but I don't think he's going to be getting paid here. But the, the money that he's while receiving was a getting bra. You can be getting 120 plus million dollars by your play this season. And I don't know, I mean, maybe Monday night after the game, we're going to lock him in. I mean, I'm going to just said, I'm going to have to whisper that bra. Do you realize what's a stake for you this year? Like you need to ball out, you know, say, you got to say, then to the medium, but go ball the hell out. And then of all the people that needs the money, it's him looking. I need the money too.

43:31A lot of suits is girlfriend. Yeah. Yeah. I count that man's money. We don't know what that man got. He got no endorsements. You got to have endorsements that he had to go pay out for the, the crash that he had. So he is definitely needing to get a paycheck. Okay. I'm done expecting things. I think what Rishi Rice has been in the kingdom, he will continue to be in the kingdom. And partially that's Kansas City's fault as well. They have enabled this behavior time in and time out. We would have thought the wake up call would have been the crash. Brother, you catching passes from Patrick Mahomes, you winning Super Bowl. Do you understand the opportunity that you have been given here? Clearly not because you come back this off season and do it again. And the Kansas City Chief did the same exact thing. They ran the same exact label. We're not going to play in the preseason. We're going to treat him with kid gloves and training camp. And we're going to put him right back out there and why receiver one. So why as me who sitting back in this podcast, see, change my expectations,

44:35well, y'all haven't changed your behavior and how y'all are addressing this. I'm not expecting Rishi Rice to be an all world receiver. I'm expecting him to be pretty much bang average and what he's done in Kansas City, 700, 800, 900 yards, whatever. Hopefully for the sake of the offense long term, he stays healthy because the role that he has on his team is something that they really need and they really could utilize. And they did not make a move this off season, a major move in that unit because clearly they believe in his long term ability to be that guy. So I'm not going to share that belief, but Kansas City can continue to do that. But as far as this game, it's going to be a tough matchup because they got some dogs over there in Denver. Yeah. And he's not a guy that is he's he's a bigger, stronger, retired receiver, not quick and fast off the ball. So you know, separation is going to be tough. But you know, when you watch when you watch him in training camp, everything he was catching was in the middle of the field. He wasn't going down the field running nine routes and that kind of stuff.

45:35He was catching everything, you know, digs, post routes, you know, that kind of stuff where, you know, you can use your big body. You know, you're not really necessarily going to run away from somebody, but you know, use that big body. So he's got to be, you know, I look at him more as the possession guy. In this offense now, you know, and you talk about, oh, you got to get rid of the ball quick and, you know, those three step drops. He's that guy, that big body guy that, that they've got to throw that quick to him. You know, Xavier is not, that's not his role, you know, that, and so that's why you see, you know, Cyrus Allen can, can really maybe step up and, and play a role in this offense. It, because he's a, he's a different than the receivers they have. So it's going to be interesting to see how all this plays out. So just, so just really quick, Aaron, since you said that you're looking for him, being what he's been in Kansas City, you realize he's averaged about 72 yards, a game the past couple of seasons, which if he did that for an entire season, we'll put him at 1200 yards.

46:36I would love that. I think that's the best case scenario to be completely honest with you. He's missed some time in some of those, did he played 17 yet? Is Ricky here? I think that's best case scenario. I would love that. That would be, that would be a dream. If that happens, case season, a position to win the division. Well, as long as he doesn't get suspended, he should be playing. I mean, he missed a couple of games last year because at the end of the season, the season was over. I think he probably plays if they're still trying to get to the playoffs and my homes isn't hurt. I can be wrong on that. They're essentially potted with Rishi at this point. He's on the team because they, they can afford them and they're drafted him. And after that leash runs out, he'll be out of here. Yeah. I mean, that's why he, he's got to play him all up. Because he's playing for not only this year, but next year. So he can't afford to, oh, yeah, well, we're out of it. So I'm a, I'm gonna sit out this one. I'm, you know, I'm a little banged up. You, you plan for your, your career, basically, you know, at this point.

47:38So you got to be out there each and every and balling out. So, you know, hopefully that, that somebody has told him that and he's gotten that in his mind, but this, this gotta be, you know, he's got to suck it up. And this has got to be his breakout year. However you want to phrase it. How about you start us off? Give us your prediction on this contest on Monday night football score as well as the winner. Well, certainly I cover the team and I don't think it's professionally right for me to, you know, Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, however, however, last year or last year, however, as a gambler, how to exactly what I'm going to cheese, man, what kind of question?

50:39I'm going with the cheese. I'm going to cheese money. Well, no, this this year, I took them at two and a half. I did, I took the points this time, but I've got the cheese went in. I think it's a, I think it's a decent school game. I'm going to go 21 17. I don't think they put a lot of points on the board, but I think they do just enough and unfortunately, it's going to be one of these close ones for this first game, you know, arrests and stuff like that. But as a game progresses, I think we'll see a much tighter game. I think there'd be 20 21 17 cheese. Okay, tight game. Good prediction there. Chris Clark, do you agree? I know. Man, this is going to be tough. Not seeing my homes at all this this preseason, not seeing and work with the wide receivers, not seeing worthy and rice, get any time, knowing that you're trying to implement a running game and new running backs into this offense. I agree could be a low scoring game. The bigger question to me is going to be probably the chief secondary, which we

51:40haven't even talked about tonight, because you're likely to be starting all an entirely new secondary from last year. Is Sneez starting? Sneez is not starting corner, is he? He's probably the nickel would be my guess. But he's not, he's not the starting corner. Well, we'll see come Monday night. Yeah, the starting corner, right? I'm just saying somebody. He's actually also in that JC. You still have to do that. No, no, no, somebody was like, I'm telling you he's starting. I'm telling you, he's going to be starting corner. I think he's starting nickel corners. If he's that's the first player to be deeper than me, then he's starting. That's different. No, no, it ain't different. Is he out there in base? I don't think that I don't know that they're going to run base more than 20 to 30% of the snaps this season. It just depends on, it just depends on the offense and their personnel.

52:40You're not going to run nickel against a 12 personnel or any. I mean, it depends on what they run out there too. It does depend on what they run out there. But I'm not saying they're going to do nickel, but they could go three safeties versus having three linebackers because I don't think that there's a third line backer. They really want out there. Yeah, but he's not, he's not starting that corner. That was my only point. That was my only point. Chris was, you know, patting themselves on the back, all the time. I'm just saying I can still go to dinner, but I'm just saying, you know, I'm just saying. Hey, man, when you pick who you got winning with your score is, Chris, Chris, you said a lot of nothing. Now we get insensitive. Now we sensitive Chris. Chris, you're saying, I don't know what the score is. What's the score? Now, now we get insensitive. What is your score? 53:45or buts. So this first one, you got to get, you know, I'm pretty much picking with my, with my heart, you know, and hoping that that, that is the chiefs because we don't know. We haven't seen what they're going to, you know, what their philosophy is, what, you know, how their players are going to play any of that stuff. So I'm going with the chiefs, you know, and I'm, I'm going to take the chiefs, you know, I think I'm going to go 23, 20. Because I think, you know, I think with those, I think, I think with those corners out there, they'll be able to, they're hanging on to courtland those guys. So I don't think they'll be throwing a lot of big, big balls down the field. So I think, I think our corners are be able to hold up, Montsour, Delane, and no Williams. He's a little bit of a shot there. He's still playing. He's still playing. He's still playing. A little bit of a shot there. Yes, you caught a shot. I'm going to call the shot. I'm going to say, I don't, this is a person that said, the Sneewin England building team.

54:49Okay. Yeah. I was out there with the starting lineup. And I hope, I'm, you know, I hope, I hope Pat's going to be okay with all the doke and not on the team. But You know, you know, Chris, but I'm just saying, you know, when you take all the parts on the back, you got it, you got to take your L's too. That's all I'm saying. I know, I know. I know. I know, I know. How the hell about all the doke? What are you talking about? He was like, oh, he's going to be at least be on the practice squad. Watch what I tell you. He's passed away. He should be on a team. What are you talking about? But you said he was. He's past boy. I'm telling you. Oh, no. What I said was. What I said was he is a Gary Dieter on this squad. I said, if he was to make the squad, it's because he's a Gary. He's just here's Gary Dieter. Man, please. That may only need to be nowhere near a football field. Chris, you think Chris.

55:50What did you think, Chris? Again, I think this game could come down to Kansas City's rebuild secondary. He's going to go because you look at this Denver Broncos team. They have good wide receivers, Boneyx is back from injury. The question is, can is he going to look, like you expect him to coming back from, you know, his ankle injury from last year. It looked like he played fine in the preseason. I think he'll have no real injury concerns going into the game, but it's still just a matter of getting out there and playing. You look at the past rest for the chiefs. Ash and Jaladi should be playing this game. I think it's a great game. I think it's a great game. I think it's a great game. I think it's a great game. I think it's a great game for the chiefs. Ash and Jaladi should be playing this game. I think that could be a big deal. Not necessarily even necessarily in past rush, but it could just be a big deal. If he can set the edge as a defensive end, because they absolutely need to be able to slow the Denver running game down to have a good chance of winning this game, in my opinion. Yeah. And I think if I can just jump in real quick,

56:50I think the way that we play them, especially early on, is take the pass away. Whether we got to play cover four, some cover two, whatever, give those guys some help out there. Let them run the ball. Because that shortens the game too. And, you know, Dobbins is not going to beat you. So you always want to take the best thing that offense does away. Don't give them any easy throws over the top and let those guys get settled in. And, you know, if you got to keep those safeties back for a little bit, do that as opposed to if you're Denver and playing against the chiefs offense, I expect them to load the box and force the chiefs to throw the ball. I'm not saying that they shouldn't load the box or they should load the box. I will say this though. I actually think it should be the other way around J.C. They need to take away the run. Because in my mind, if you're slowing down the running game and you get them into third and long on a semi-regular basis, you get the ability to actually rush the passers

57:52and get after Bo-Nix. I do think that that would be a huge key in this game. But do you get the third and long if you load the box and you leave those guys outside with Cortland Sutton, Jalen Waddle, Franklin, and Evan Ingram? Because now if you load the box, you got to play man. And so, you know, that's the thing. I think we stop with them. And then, you know, we can come up and stop diamonds. You know, I mean, you can't do just one thing the whole time anyway. So you got to mix it up. But yeah. Per usual, I'm the only sensible one on this panel and make up predictions ahead of Monday night football. We got a little call you sensible, but go ahead. We got folks thinking what they're a hard-hater. Making decisions with their heart over their head here. We talked this whole preseason about Rust and they played together and his holes here. A little bit and look bad in the Tampa game.

58:52Now we got all faith in the world and he can line up against Denver and hold his own. Did we say that we have faith in him holding out his own against Denver? I think the reality is that they think that the chiefs can find a way to overcome their deficiencies because they've shown consistently over the years being able to overcome their issues. Last year was an anomaly. Now it's to find out whether or not last year is going to continue into this season or they go back and they play like they did in previous years and Patrick Mahomes in this offense with Eric B&M and something that they haven't had while Mahomes has been here as a running game. They finally have a running game. Man, he's picking it gets this early. He was picking and gets the chiefs all last year. So there after the game. You are going on in the locker room. After the game when you guys are arm and arm like he said.

59:55Go find him. I know what he said. Go find Calil Benson. Go find all of them. Be like, hey, man, this dude right here. Right here. Let's do right here. Give me Denver. I'll take Denver 24 13. Okay. Okay. Hey, had a same energy because when we come post him, I'm going to be like, air ran after locking so quick. And I will be a professional. I will be a cons professional and do my job as I'm done. I'm not. I'm not again. And I am not afraid to face the music. I've picked games multiple times for multiple outlets. 13 points from from this offense. Don't get don't get jumped on Aaron Aaron. I mean, uh, your skill come on. Come on. Hey, that was a slip. That was a slip. About that. That's that. That's.
