韩国总统尹锡悦本星期到美国进行七天访问，这是韩国总统时隔12年再次对美国进行国事访问。尹锡悦出访前接受路透社访问时，第一次表示韩国可能为乌克兰提供军事援助，也称台湾问题不仅是中国和台湾之间的问题，而是如同朝鲜问题一样是全球问题。
他的言论立即引起北京强烈反应，中韩两国爆发口水战，外交官隔空交锋持续了几天仍未停息。
中韩在台湾问题上的交锋，是中美争霸的又一个影子。有韩国学者支持尹锡悦的表态，认为韩国应该搭上以美国为中心的同盟列车，也有人为韩国同时得罪中俄两国忧心忡忡，担心中国会“秋后算账”。

South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol flew to Washington for a seven-day visit. His trip is the first state visit to the United States by a South Korean leader since 2011 and marks the 70th anniversary of the countries' alliance.
In an interview with Reuters before the trip, Yoon signalled a shift in his stance against arming Ukraine for the first time. He also said, “the Taiwan issue is not simply an issue between China and Taiwan but, like the issue of North Korea, it is a global issue.”
His comments have sparked a war of words between Beijing and Seoul.
At a press briefing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said that the Taiwan issue is “a matter for Chinese who do not need to be told what should or should not be done."
South Korea's foreign ministry hit back by describing Beijing’s comments as “serious diplomatic discourtesy”.
