What's good boys and girls, two-footed podcast today is Monday, it is the 23rd of March,
and we're going to start with the EFL cook final.
Because that is the first bit of silver that's been given away.
This season, and it was won by Manchester City, Manchester City, two arsenal nil at Wembley
Stadium, and quite frankly, I was embarrassed watching Arsenal's performance.
Embarrassed.
They had three shots on target, all of them came in the first seven minutes, all of them.
Thai Havards was played through one-on-one.
James Trafford came off his line and got the block.
The ball fell to Sacka, Trafford again blocked the shot, and it fell to Sacka again and
once again, James Trafford blocked the shot.
And that was it.
That's all Arsenal really managed.
That was over half of Arsenal's XG for the entire game, bearing in mind that was the seventh
minute.
The game went 96, and there was I think two or three minutes to stop it in the first half.
So say 100 minutes.
So 93 minutes or so, football where Arsenal offered nothing.
The only time they really worried, the city goal was a looping Gabrielle Hazus header,
which hit the top of the crossbar.
That was it.
Now I'm not saying city were brilliant.
City only had two shots on target, both of them went in though.
City did create quite a lot more XG than Arsenal.
Now both of their goals were high XG chances.
The first is, it's an under hit cross by Ryan Cherokee that Kappa drops, and unfortunately
for Kappa, he dropped it behind himself and Nico Riley snook in and scored.
The second is a good cross from, I want to say it's from Matthias Nunes, yeah, Matthias
Nunes, and it's a really good header by O'Reilly again.
And city were very comfortable in the game, like after that little moment where they have
three shots in like seven seconds and Trafford saves all of them in the seventh minute, Arsenal
just offered nothing in the game.
Some long throws, some set pieces, nothing in open play, Arsenal line up with Kappa
Engle, which obviously raised some eyebrows because David Raya is sat on the bench.
Ben White at right back, Timber is injured, so that makes sense.
Salibrik Gabrielle and Hinkapi, and I think Hinkapi probably has just moved ahead of
Califurina.
He didn't have a good game at all.
He got booked and it really, it really hampered his game, but I think that's three quarters
of their best back for.
Zubimendi and Rice, he went sack of the right, tross out off the left, which I didn't
really understand, because he had Martinelli and Madouette be available to him.
Now, no, as a, no, um, older guard, so he went with Kai Havards as the 10 behind Jokaras.
It's still a very strong team, it's still a very expensive team.
Now Kappa was cheap, they paid five million.
White was 50 million, Saliba cost 35, Gabrielle was 28, Hinkapi, when they make that
deal per on I think it's 55, Zubimendi was the better part of 60, Rice was 105, Saka was
the academy obviously, but Havards was 65, tross out, I think they paid 20, and then Jokaras
obviously was 60 odd in the summer.
Jesus came on, he cost him 45, Martinelli was cheap, I think they paid 8 million for him.
Madouette cost 60 or 55.
Salafiori was I think 40, Raya was 30, Mascara was 20, which was a bargain to be fair.
Norguard was 10, and then they had Lewis Skelling and Max Diamond of the Vengeance.
It's a very, very expensive team, and a very expensive squad, and that they turn open and
play like that.
City went with Trafford in gold, so again, they didn't pick their first choice keeper.
Nunez and O'Reilly at the full backs box, Kishunov and Aki in the middle, Diaz and Gahiyos,
so and Gabrielle remember, so you could argue they're missing three of their first choice
defense, because Gabrielle would start, it's just a matter of whether you'd start, Gabrielle
at left back or center back, and then if you start on left back, either Gahiyos or Diaz comes in.
Rodvery at the base of midfield, Semenio, Cherky, Bernardo Silva, Doku, Haaland, also a very
expensively assembled team, although not as expensive as the City team, as the Arsenal team
mother.
The bench is very expensive though, you were folding the academy, but Reinders was big money,
stones was big money, Marmousha's huge money, Kovacic back, great to see him back,
Nico Gonzalez was 60 odd, a Nuri was cheap enough at like less than 30, Donna rumour was cheap
enough, because you need a year left and it's countered, and then Semenio, I think they paid
20 for him, but they bought them from themselves.
It was notable Peponi made one substitution, he brought folding on for Cherky, and like
Ray and Cherky did not have a particularly good game, there are some people fluffing themselves
over it, because he did a few keepy up these, but I have to say, when Ben White knocked
him to the ground and he went down rolling on the floor, and then at one stage stopped
the rolling to strike a pose for the crowd, it was one of the funniest things I've seen.
After somebody's done a video of it on Twitter set to some music, it's very, very good,
City were just a better team, from from minute A's onwards, City were just a better team,
control the game, controlled where it was played, like they had 63% of the ball, how are
Arsenal turning up and having 37% when you've spent that much money, when your entire team is
built on control? And I saw one absolute, Wally saying that this is the best defensive team I've
ever seen, like you clearly haven't seen any football, City 17 to 19 and Liverpool 18 to 20
were much better defensive than this Arsenal team, much better defensively and didn't play with
six defensive players, certainly didn't line up with four centerbacks, you go back through time,
some of the merennial teams, some of the united teams under Ferguson,
Arsenal under a vanger were great defensively as well, they had none of those teams played six
defensive players, none of them played centerbacks as both fullbacks, you know, you look at some of
the Italian teams over the years, the great UVA teams, the great Milan teams, some of the
Inter teams down the years, like the notion that this is some sort of all time great defensive
teams laugh, but let's quickly talk about Kepa, so Kepa has a uniquely atrocious
history with the league cup final, so offering number one, he starts the game for Chelsea,
it goes to penalties, the manager wants to sub him off in extra time and I think it was Willy
Cabillero, he wanted to bring on, this is Sari as Chelsea manager, so what year is that 1819?
Yeah, 1819, the 1819 league cup final, so Kepa refuses to come off in that final,
and obviously there was a lot of backlash from the media from everybody else, especially as city
won that penalty shootout 4-3, he was Willy Cabillero, yeah.
Now Kepa, of course, Unicorn seeded four of the five that were taken, it's not his fault
Jojenio and David Louise missed, but nonetheless a uniquely awful experience for everybody,
then in the 2022 league cup final, he's once again in goal for Chelsea, he was brought home
for Edward Mendy for the penalty shootout, so Mendy starts,
Kepa comes on for the penalty shootout, why Kepa had at that point been judged some sort of penalty
icon I don't know, Liverpool take 11 penalties and score all 11 penalties, including the
Fabinho and Van Dyke ones which are just objectively hilarious, Chelsea take 11 penalties, they score
10 of them, the person who misses Kepa, blasting it over the bar, now it will point out
queuing Keller also faced 11 penalties and save any of them, but won because one of them was
sailed over the bar, nonetheless, there's loss number two in the league cup final for Kepa,
and then you have this case, where like the second goal, there's nothing you can do about it,
but Jesus wept, the first goal, what on earth are you doing, like what on earth are you doing?
It's like he jumped too early, because it's not a good cross, and he was almost on the way down,
I wonder if he thought the cross was going to come with a bit more speed,
it was almost like he was on the way down when he got his hands to the ball and just slipped through
his fingers, it's a strange career for Kepa because I remember watching him at Bilbao and he was so,
so good, but it was clear he was still quite raw, like he only really had one full season,
as the number one goalkeeper there, he'd come into the team in 1670 and he'd been out on loan
for a couple of years, he broke into the team, about a third of the way into the season 1617,
and he looked really good, the following season he was excellent, and then there was a lot of clubs
interested in him, Rael were very, very keen, because obviously he looked like he was the next
Spanish number one, he looked like he was the guy who would take the shirt from David De Hea,
who'd started to slip at that point, De Hea had obviously replaced Cassius, Cassius was that kind
of delayed successor to Zubi Zaretha, but it looked like Kepa was next up, and Chelsea paid a
world record fee for him, and when he first came over it was just so clear that there were big
flaws in his game that just hadn't been exploited in La Liga, that were going to be exploited in
the Premier League, shots from distance, and crosses, and to this day he struggles a boat,
but he signs at Chelsea a seven-year contract, let's not forget, he's the first
joy starter for two years and then he's dropped because Mandy arrives, then in 2223 he kind of had
a little bit of a renaissance with Chelsea, went on loan to Madrid in 2324, and then a Bournemouth
last season, he was legitimately good, but he was legitimately good, but that's six seasons after
the last time he was legitimately good, which was back at Bilbao, Arsenal bought him in the summer
because they wanted a back-up goalkeeper, and to be fair he was coming off a good season and
his release costlessly $500 million because it reduced each year, it hasn't gone great at
Arsenal, though he's played ten times in all competitions, it's made a couple of mistakes,
but it's just it's unfortunate that it's worked out the way it's worked out because he looks so
down, he's still me 31 as well, but he still has a long time left in his career, but
he's still to this day the world's most expensive keeper, he moved eight years ago, 72 million pounds,
72 million pounds, a seven-year contract on huge money,
to replace Tibo Courtois, who Real had decided, let's go and get him rather than Kepa because he
was a lot cheaper, I think the Courtois go for like 35, yeah, 35, and Chelsea went and spent double
that on Kepa, and it was a it was a weird summer because Alesson went to Liverpool that summer,
Chelsea thought they were getting Alesson, Liverpool managed to get him, and then Courtois got the
hump because he had the hump anyway over a couple of different things, so he gets the hump and
kind of starts to push for a move, because they were I think the plan was by Alesson then sell
Courtois, then they don't get Alesson and Courtois forces to move, and then they start to scramble
around and then they go and they get Kepa and it just it just has never worked, it's never worked
from England, so many mistakes over the years,
to shame, anyway, I would put yesterday's loss squarely at the feet of Mikkel,
Artata, just thought that the cowardly nature of how he managed the game was was really,
really poor, didn't get the best out of any of his attacking players, Pekaiosaka was terrible,
and there's just no burst, Nico Reilly is not a left back, he's a midfield player and he's not
an explosive midfield player, and yet you never really felt like the Kaiosaka had the beating of him,
I don't think he completed a dribble in the game,
but City take the first silverware of the year, look, Arsenal are almost certainly going to win
something this year, they'll probably win the league because City, the draws against
Forest and West Ham are just killer, if they'd won those two games, they'd be five points behind
with the game in hand and Arsenal to go to the Etihad, and after yesterday,
you'd be thinking, City are beating them at the Etihad, City are going to win the league,
I still think City will beat them at the Etihad and I still think
they'll win their game in hand, but then there'll still be three points behind Arsenal,
and Arsenal have a better goal difference, and Arsenal have easier fixtures remaining,
so they'll probably win what is a very, very weak Premier League, but I don't think they can
win the European Cup with this guy in charge, you see him get to finally, he'll do something stupid,
and they'll play that same awful brand of football that they played yesterday,
and people can say, oh, they wouldn't have conceded if kept it in the squad, City were going
to score, you could you could feel it in the game, City were going to score,
another poor Holland performance though, which become a bit of a thing, he has been terrible now
for months, anyway, congrats to Manchester City, well deserved, I said to
Guy on Friday, City had the harder path to get there, I don't remember what I picked,
did I pick an Arsenal win, did I pick a City win, I think I picked an Arsenal in the City
were in poor form and hadn't won any of the previous four, but yeah, City were the better team
and deserved to win, and I'll see you after the break.

They say you should learn something new every day, like how you should only drink Yeager
Meister at zero degrees Fahrenheit, ice cold, like those frozen cavemen they find,
which makes you wonder, what would a caveman think of Yeager Meister?
Well, if you served it more, he'd probably throw it in your face, say,
and storm off, and nobody wants that.
So drink it cold, or not at all. Yeager Meister, damn, that's cold.

Right, welcome back, so we had Ace Premier League games over the weekend,
beginning Friday night, born with two Manchester United Tunis, some controversy in this game,
without a question. Fairly even first half, a good first half, and a fairly enjoyable first half,
on 61, it's a penalty to Manchester United as him and his commits a holding fell on Cunia,
and drags him down in the box, up steps Bruno and Bruno scores.
On 67, Ahmed Diallo drives into the
born with box. There is absolutely no question that Adrien truefare pulls him.
Now, does he go down a little bit theatrically? Yeah, maybe, but there's no doubt to me that
that's a penalty. It's not given, Bournemouth get the ball, go up the pitch,
and Ryan Christie scores a really nice finish.
VAO review sticks with the on field decision, but I'm sorry, as much as it pains me to say it,
United were robbed here. That should have been a penalty in probably 2-0, and instead it's 1-1.
United go back in front on 71, it's James Hill putting through his own net. It's Bruno Fernandez
corner. Harry McGuire is at the back post, Coleson a bit of it may have, and James Hill is,
I don't know what he's trying to do, to be quite honest, and he heads into his own net.
United, that should have been 3-0. It should have been 3-0. United were robbed here, but
on 78, Harry McGuire does just a very, very silly tackle in his own box, not trying to play the ball,
denies a goal scoring opportunity, straight red card, up steps, Eli Junio Crubi, and it's a
really nice penalty from Crubi, who's a player, I very much enjoy watching, but United were
robbed in this game. Lucky, on the balance of play, a draw was a fair result, like
both teams had similar mental possession, similar mental shots, similar mental shots on
target, all the rest, similar mental corners to hold up, but on balance of play,
a draw is a draw. In reality, United have been robbed.
The Christy goal shouldn't have counted, it should have gone back for penalty to United,
and Bruno probably scores. Now, do they score the James Hill goal after that, who knows,
but they should have been 2-0 up on 66 minutes, 67 minutes, and then even if
Crubi scores the penalty, they should win 2-1. So United have reason to be aggrieved
on that one without question. Moving into Saturday, Liverpool Brighton was postponed, I think,
it was just called off. I think the stadium had termites, or woodworm, or something anyway,
in a mental stadium. Brighton 2-1, another absolutely hopeless performance from Liverpool,
Brighton, good value for the win, Danny Wellbeck on 14 after a good cross from
Cariaglu, a header back across goal, from Diego Gomez and Wellbeck just as well.
Sort of out, Muscle Z, Buchanate, someone will say push from the back, I say,
Buchanate needs to be stronger, and Wellbeck finishes from close range.
Milo's Kirk is equalised for Liverpool on 30, but it came from an absolute gift from Lewis
Dunk, and then after that Liverpool just soiled themselves on 56, it's a brilliant cross into
the box from Yankuba Minta, Henshelwood does really well, makes a run of the back post, Van Dyke
doesn't know he's there, there's no communication, and he taps it across the face of goal,
and Danny Wellbeck taps it home. Now, does it look offside? Yes, but it's the 5cm tolerance
rule, which Liverpool Bennett fitted from in the full-on game, so they can have absolutely
no complaints about this. After that, Brighton should have scored a third, maybe even a fourth,
Mamrata Schully made some good saves, they missed some good chances, Henshelwood made an absolute
mess of one after Metoma had embarrassed about half the Liverpool team when he came on.
Brighton fully deserved the win, good value for the win, and
it's a really good win for them, and it's a win that took them into the top half,
they've now won four or five after that horrendous turn clean without a win run.
Moving on, as quickly as we possibly can, full-on three, burnly one in the only 3pm kickoff,
a game that was kind of sleepwalking through until 60 when Zion Fleming scores,
look, Dubravka had made a couple of good saves before that, but Zion Fleming opens the scoring
on 60, a really tidy finish, by the way. Josh King on 67 draws full-on level,
this is one where you have to point the finger at the goalkeeper. Now, he comes out, King
swings on the ball, doesn't really make contact with it, and Dubravka, I think gets caught up
between going for the ball and then trying to stop a shot that he thinks is coming from Josh King,
makes a mess of it, King finishes on the second attempt. His first Premier League goal, and he's
a very, very talented player, a very fun player as well, he plays at a good pace, he links things
really well, full-on have a gem on their hands, there's a two goals, I thought that was his first
Premier, it is his first Premier League, he's two in all competitions, excuse me.
Full-on of gems in the hands, I think he'll add more goals, but it wouldn't surprise me if he
started to play a little bit deeper in a couple of years. Right now, he's 19, he's a little bit
life, I think that's, it makes sense to play him as a 10, but I actually think he might be more
effective a little bit deeper, because I think he's great at getting the ball given it moving
again, and just sort of knitting things together, I actually think he's a little bit like
copy-manu in that regard, he's not going to be someone you sit at the base, see him at field,
and expect to dictate things, but if someone that'll knit things together really well and do it
on the move, which is the player type I do enjoy, yeah, I really like Josh King, he's one to definitely
keep an eye on over the next couple of years, I think he's going to develop into a very, very
cool player, he's already shown some bright, bright lights, and after that then it's the Harry
Wilson show on 6 73, what a season, what a season Harry Wilson is having, I mean right now you'd
be hard pressed to leave him out of your team in the season, in the Premier League this year,
10 goals and 6 assists for Fulham, that's really good going,
this is yet another outrageous finish, and the thing is he doesn't score
toppings, he scores whirlies, all he does is score whirlies, and create goals with really good
passes or crosses or set pieces, but it's fantastic to see him at 29 now, a happy birthday to
Harry Wilson, he's 29 yesterday, fantastic to see him play at the level he is, he was a player
I really liked in the Liverpool Academy, he was clear he wasn't going to make the great at Liverpool,
the lack of pace, considering how Liverpool played, he wasn't ever going to play in Liverpool's midfield
and he wasn't quick enough to play as a wide forward in the Salamane era,
so it was clear he wasn't going to make the great there, but he's gone on to have himself a very,
very good career, and he's a lot of fun to watch as well, on 94 Royal Jimenez's pulled out in
the box, Joshua had to send off, up steps, Jimenez, he does two story things, I don't like it,
but it's a it's a well-stroke penalty, which I do like, and it's 3-1, and Fulham fully deserved
the win, like I said Dubravka had been keeping Burnley in the game before Burnley opened the scoring,
so over the 90, no question, Fulham was a better team, and another very good win
for Marco Silva's team, who just, you know, continued to defy expectations and logic and
everything else, they're ninth in the Premier League now, they're a point ahead of Brighton,
two behind Everton, we'll get to all that, but just very impressed by Marco Silva,
and I don't think it would work at a Liverpool United, a city, a Chelsea,
I eat a spurs, I think after Thomas Franklin, I don't think he'd go that direction, but I do think like
Everton, Newcastle, Villa, if Emory left, I think it'll work there, I really do think it'd work
at those clubs, and that normally I would put spurs in with that group, because I think,
I think realistically, spurs are the sixth of the big six, and I think they're closer to
Villa, to me, Villa are bigger clubs than spurs, but they're closer to Villa, spurs, and Everton,
than they are to Liverpool United Arsenal, Chelsea and City, but I don't think they could
go that route after Thomas Franklin, I just don't think so. Moving on, speaking of Everton,
Everton 3, Chelsea 0, now, Chelsea played OK in spells, but Everton were just ruthless,
absolutely ruthless, Beto opens the scoring on 33 minutes, it is a wondrous finish,
an absolutely wondrous finish, the ball played through by Garner, Beto gets to a just before
Sanchez, but Sanchez spreads himself and looks massive as he comes out, Beto just clips it,
and if you watch it from behind the goal, it starts crazy wide, but because he puts lots of spin
on it, it just starts to bend and bend and bend and bend into the net, and when it bounces, it spins,
it's a sensation, it reminded me of a Darwin Nunes finish against Liverpool for Ben Feaker in the
European Cup a couple of years ago, and considering both the track records, I think that's a fairly
epic comparison as well. On 62, it's 2-0, again, it's Beto, again, it's a well-struck shop,
but it goes between the goalkeeper's legs from fully 18 yards out, but on a bit of an angle,
hits it really well, and if he hadn't hit it as well, the keeper saves it, because it sort of hits
the keeper's the inside of his tally and bounces down, and if it doesn't have as much power,
it probably kills it dead, but the power forces it over the line and Sanchez can't get back.
It looks bad for Sanchez, but just a really well-struck shop.
Element and Gidell, I mean, we talk about players that deserve mention and team of the year,
and I think Element and Gidell is going to be right up there as well. Now, he obviously did miss
some time with Af Khan and whatever, but I think he is absolutely brilliant.
I think he's such a talented footballer, he's really coming into his own this season.
I actually think no disrespect to Grealish who had a really good start and was playing well
forever, and I think Grealish going out of the team has actually helped in Jai, because number
one, he's back playing more on the left, which he prefers to the right. But number two,
he's more involved in the buildup and he's getting more of the ball, and his dribbling is
outstanding, his passing is very good, and this finish is just outrageous. He has just
placed that right in the postage stamp, like you literally could not put the ball
more in the top corner if you walked up and placed it there. It is outrageous. It's a brilliant goal
from a player having a brilliant season. Now, I think he only has six goals, three assists.
The numbers won't blow you away, but when you watch his game to game impact for them,
he's really, really good. I still don't know how he's at Everton.
I don't know what went wrong at Marseille. I know he didn't hit the ground running and he'd
eat some poor performances and whatever. I need to score three goals, but I don't get it at all.
He is such a good player. Such a good player. And the great thing for Everton, of course,
is that he is a home-run player. So he doesn't count against Dakota. He gives you so much more
ability than you're going to get from your normal run of the main English kid who comes through
Boram Ward's academy and then chef who's united. Yeah, big fan, big fan of element and joy.
I don't imagine he'll be at Everton. For maybe more than next season, I think the next season
might be his last there. And that's, you know, you never know. He might love it there. He might
love being the main guy, but he's a hell of a player. It's definitely going to be interesting. A lot of
clubs in here. That was the late kickoff then on Saturday. So let's move into Sunday.
And we begin with the... Oh, no, sorry, that wasn't the late kickoff. That was the 530 kickoff.
The late kickoff was Leeds Brandford, which was a very, very dull game. A very, very, very,
very, very, very, very, very dull game of football, in which nothing really happened.
Brandford very disappointed in her little ambition. They showed in the game. Leeds at least
looked like they were trying to win the game at different spells, but they never really troubled
queuing Caller her all that much. There was one moment where Calvert Lewin got to a header before
Caller and had it across for Creole. They headed it out. And that was kind of it. And
there was quite a bit of time wasted in this game. And there's been quite a bit of discussion
about that afterwards. I was disappointed in how Brandford went about this one. I think there was
a game there for them to go and win. But look, it always felt like a draw. It felt like it'd be one
of those kind of grinded out type of games. That's exactly what it was. Nobody who watched the game
enjoyed it. Let's be clear on that. Into Sunday,
time weird, Derby, Newcastle United, home to Sondland, coming off a 72 defeat in Barcelona,
Newcastle, have to win. Don't they? Don't they need this win now more than anything? Newcastle
United won Sondland too. And Eddie, how has to be under a huge amount of pressure?
If you look at their league form, they've lost six out of the last nine. They've only three wins
out of the last 10. That win was against Manchester United. I took that late, later
to Sula Gold to win that one. That's the only home. Sorry, that's the only home when they have
in this in the last 10 games. The away wins away to Spurs and away to Chelsea, which obviously
is very good result. But three wins at a 10 is not going to get the job done. They've also gone
out of the FA Cup. They also obviously went out of the league cup to City like they did the FA
Cup and they went out of the European Cup to Barcelona in embarrassing fashion, frankly. And now
they lose to Sondland. And you just don't know what to make of any of it really because the
performance was very poor. It means they've lost to Sondland in both Derby's this season.
Gordon puts them one up on 10 minutes, but it's it's from a comedically poor pass by Luca
nine who gets a ball. He doesn't want and then tries to clear it on his weaker left thought and
makes a massive. It gets intercepted. I think by Walter, it might have been somebody else.
Anyway, goes to Gordon. Gordon finishes really well. Credit to the fellow. But
he just didn't feel like Newcastle were really going to get a second. They did have a second
rule out after Talby had equalized, which was comical defending from Newcastle. They had a second
rule out, but it was rightly ruled out for offside. But it just it just felt really now I said before
I said to Guy on Friday, 12 o'clock kickoff. I don't know how that's going to work with the
atmosphere and the atmosphere wasn't what you'd have hoped. No, there was plenty of fire in the
game and there was there was moments where the crowd really got going. But it just it felt like
maybe Newcastle left some of their legs in Barcelona, although I'm not sure how because they
were walking around in the second half as Barcelona just danced through them. But Brian
Robbie scores the winner on 90 on 90 and you just you look at the goal and
Enzel if he gets the ball he sort of just like walks along the end line and no one
crashes on me plays a simple ball to Robbie. Credit to Rams daily makes a decent save on the first
shop, but then no defender reacts and Robbie just finishes easily like just hugely disappointing
season for Newcastle. And then to compare that you've got Eddie Howe coming out and just
talking absolute bobbins after the game like you've lost 19 times this season you've won only
43% of your games and all competitions. You've lost more than you've won in the Premier League.
Like stop it Eddie Howe. You know he's cribbing and crying about the financial rules. Let's
look at the financial rules here for a second. You spent 55 million on a Langer. You spent 34
million on Thial. He's been really good, but a Langer has been terrible. You spent 43 on Ramsey.
He's been poor. You spent 69 million on Voldemort. He had a good spell. He's been awful for
months now. And you spent 55 million in Yoann Vista. And he's I know you missed a big chunk
in you, but he's been terrible since coming back. Like crimey a river. Like that is 110,
179, 213, 256 million spent. You sold ISAC for 125. You sold long staff and Lloyd Kelly
for 15 apiece. That's 155. I think they got two million for the Bravica.
So like you still spend 100 million. You know it's not like your paupers run.
You know the previous summer I did feel sorry for you when you had to sell Mint and Anderson.
But you didn't have to sell those two players. You could have sold others.
But why did Newcastle have to balance the books that year? Well the reason they had to balance
the books is because they've gone out and spent 55 on Tonali, 38 on Barnes, 35 on Livramento.
Let's not forget they also brought in Lewis Hall on a loan with an obligation to buy for 35 million.
And you didn't really sell anyone of note other than
Alan St. Maximum and Chris Wood who you'd bought of course in the January when you took over.
No sorry it was the two January four. He was on loan first. Go back to 2223 season.
You signed math target for 15, Nick Pope for 10, Batman for 35, ISAC for 63.
Then in the January you had Anthony Gordon for 43 and there's no notable sales.
So lots of money spent, no sales. When he did take over it was the January of 2022 was his first
window, 2122 season. It signed Joe Willock in the summer. But Eddie Howe takes over in the
January. Remember there's no notable sales in either window. But in the January Eddie Howe spends
12 on trippy or 25 on ward salesman of 10 million loss, 35 on Gamerish and 13 on Dan Burn,
also loaning in math target then making that deal permanent. Like you've spent a bunch of money.
He spent some of the badly Eddie. That's why you're like and when you look at
a raft of new forward players to come in. When all of them fail to click, you've got one issue
and that's the manager. I'm not having Eddie Howe crying the poor mouth.
Emory I would accept crying poor mouth a little bit except that Villa spent a ton. It's just
that he didn't spend a lot of it. Let's remember it was spent on the Dean Smith and then Gerard
and Emory's having to deal with Daphs, screwing up their finances and how they've been behind
the eight ball for a number of years. But Eddie Howe's the reason new castle are behind the eight ball.
Nobody else. As I say, when all your forwards aren't heading, it's because of your manager. It's not
because of anything else. Great win for Sondland though. They must be absolutely thrilled to do the
double over a new castle. This win moves them back ahead of new castle as well, which is always fun.
From there, we go to Villa Park, Aston Villa 2, West Ham United, Neil Great, John McGill on 15,
really nice set piece. Free kick on the left hand side of the box, probably 12 yards from the
end line, 12 yards from the touch line, not really in a suitable position, but in a good crossing
position. But they play a short essential who fakes to cross and then plays a low pass across
the edge of the box to an unmarked McGin who just steps on to it and bends it into the far corner.
It's a great goal. Really well worked. Ollie Watkins made it to on 68, a close range finish
after good work by Morgan Rodgers, but Villa fully deserved the win. 22 shots to 7 and 7 on
target to 1. Mads Hermenson is the only real reason this game stayed even remotely competitive.
He made a number of good saves, but and to be fair, Maverick Polnus as well. I think he cleared
one off the line and had another really good block on a Watkins one. So yeah, one off the line
from Rodgers before the goal and then one where he got a block in on Watkins. I think that was
after the McGin goal. So yeah, Maverick Polnus and Hermenson together, keeping them in the game,
but ultimately Westham just not good enough on the day. Also not good enough on the day,
Tottenham Hotspur, Tottenham Nill, Nottingham Forest 3 at Tottenham.
Like that is that is absolutely shocking. And Spurs, look, Matthias Taylor almost scored,
but that's about the only good thing I can say about what Spurs did in this game.
Matt sales made a couple of half decent saves, but just awful, just so flat. I do wonder if
what happened in the week just took a lot out of their legs, but they just look so, so flat.
Forest go one up on 45 minutes, just in the stroke of half time. It's an Igor Jesus header.
It's actually a really cleverly worked set piece. So if you watch it, watch Malenkovich's movement.
So he's in a central area. He makes a looping run round the back post, but not for the ball.
He moves round just to become another blocker. So they have at the back post,
there's Igor Jesus and somebody else. It might have been Marillo, but Malenkovich makes a run
round to basically form a two-man wall and block the Spurs defenders. That's a really good
finish from Hazus, really good head to finish from Hazus. On 62, there's a lovely flowing move
and Gibbs White scores are a really nice goal. And then on 87, the Cario had made a couple of
good saves as well to keep Spurs respectable, but couldn't keep the Gibbs White one out.
On 87, Nico Williams produces the cross of his life. It is absolutely vicious,
whipped with dip and pace. And I think it hits a wani like on the shin rather than the foot
and just arrows into the net because the pace in the cross is so good. The Spurs were desperate,
absolutely desperate. And I don't know what happens from here, I really don't.
So, Forest, they've got Villa Home, Burnley home, Sundan and away, Chelsea away,
Newcastle home, United away, Bournemouth home. So, they do have more home games than away games,
so that's a positive. But at the same time, they do have some tough games in there. Villa,
Chelsea, United, Tune, Bournemouth, Sundanland. Like Burnley's doing it when you're looking at
and saying, well, that's a win. But if they can just get their home form right,
and like they are the type of team that Chelsea's struggling against at home, so they could
well go there and win as well, I feel like they're going to be okay. Spurs, where do you go?
So, Sundanland away, Brighton home, Wolves away, Villa away,
sorry, Leeds home, Chelsea away, Everton home, that's tough. That's tough and that's
more away games than home games. But they don't have Europe, they're out of Europe,
that could help, that could really help them. But again, it's tough to see where the wins come from,
isn't it? And then West Ham, Wolves home, absolutely most win. Palace away, Everton home,
Brentford away, Arsenal home, Newcastle away, Leeds home, that is an easier run. That's probably
the easiest run of the three we've done. So that they do have an opportunity here.
I still think there's a possibility Leeds get pulled back into Leeds running a point ahead of
Forest now, remember. So what the Leeds have left, United away, Wolves home, born with away,
Burnley home, Spurs, that game is going to be huge. Brighton home and then West Ham away.
So they face two of the teams in that mix. But it feels like Wolves home and Burnley home are like,
you know, almost gifts. We'll see what happens. We'll see what happens. We'll talk quickly after
the break. See you in a second. America leads the world in medicine development. It matters.
We get new medicines first, nearly three years faster. Five million Americans go to work because we
make medicines here at home. And not relying on other countries keeps us safe. But China is racing
to overtake us. Will we let them or will we choose to stay ahead? When America leads, America cures.
Let's tell Washington to keep us in the lead.

Right, welcome back. So let's have a quick look at the league table.
Arsenal top 70 point city 61, but a game in hand. Manchester United 55 Villa 54 Liverpool 49
Chelsea in sixth on 48. So Chelsea right now would miss out on Champions League. I'm working on
the assumption that fifth gets Champions League this year. Brandford and Everton both 60,
aside both 46 points. So he two points behind Chelsea, only three behind Liverpool.
Fulham 44 Brighton 43. Sondland also 43. Newcastle 42 same as Bournemouth Bournemouth 5 draws in a row.
Just love a draw 15 of them this season. That's three more than anybody else and five more than
anybody other than leads. Then palace on 39. That's the cutoff point of they no longer need to worry
about anything, right? I would say I would say Fulham Brighton, Sondland and Newcastle and Bournemouth
are out of the mix for Europe. Personally speaking, I would say that I'm probably wrong about one
of them. One of them would probably will probably get in the mix, but as of right now I'm looking
at Brandford and Everton for that last European spot. But yeah, I think palace, they're all safe
anyway. Those those teams that have 39 to 40, palace will get to 40. It's Leeds Forest
Tottenham and West Ham for one spot. One of those four teams is going down
because Burnley and Leeds are a board, Burnley and Wolves are gone. Don't need to worry,
but then palace by the way, do the game and hand as well. So 39 points plus the game and hand,
but it is City and I think they lose. Four teams for one spot and I think it's really hard
to pick right now. Spurs have the hardest running, but they've also got the best players.
Forest I would say the second hardest running, but they probably the second best players.
West Ham and Leeds I think is a toss up as to who is the better players.
I think West Ham of the easiest running, but Leeds have those two games. Wolves home Burnley home.
When them, you're on 39 points and you're pretty much safe or you should be anyway.
We might actually end up this season with with a team going down on like 40.
39 40. Quickly to do winners and losers winners of the weekend Manchester City winning the EFL Cup
and therefore Arsenal will go in the loser column because you lost a cup finals so you have to
Liverpool next big losers just absolutely appalling. Absolutely appalling and then you castle
have to be our third loser which makes Sondland one of our winners and I'm going to go Everton.
Actually, no, you know, I'm not. I'm going to go nodding him forest as the last big winner
because day one West Ham lose, Spurs lose and Leeds only draw. So I'm going to go forest. So
forest, Sondland and City are our winners. Arsenal, Liverpool and Newcastle are our losers and
I'm going to go and share the caramel match it for a while. So I will see you all on Wednesday.
No pod tomorrow. I have dog related duties that I have to take care of.
