Tanner Bobbie, six strikeouts, zero walks, lots of errors didn't make it out of fifth,
spring training, or a repeat of 2025.
The pitching factory, we think it has a lot of upside, 2026 Guardians, Prostek Rankies
and the top 20 starts now.

As you mentioned, I'm Jeff Ellis.
I've been here at Lockdown for eight years now or just about eight years.
For that, I was a national writer at Scout and 24-7, focused on prospects in the draft.
I replaced Kylie McDaniel at Scout back in the day.
I want to thank you for making today's episode your first season, today and every day,
wherever it is you get podcasts.
And again, shout out to our every dayers and insiders, everyone who contributes and helps
our show continue to grow.
You know, if you're not following on YouTube, consider, we're getting close to that 6,000
market.
It'd be cool to get there by before the season began, but if not, you know, early in the
season as well.
Yeah, tell a friend we love to have at 6,000 markets, you know, not for our own egos, but
just to say more people are invested in Guardian Space Balls.
Not for us.
It's for you.
We love talking Guardian Space Ball, and hopefully you love listening to it and talking
about it.
With us on today's show, we're wrapping up the official 2026 Lockdown Guardians prospect
rankings.
Twenty through one.
We'll take you by the curtain of our process evaluations and how we compromise on this
list.
Plus, Tanner Bibley shows some good data points, despite a short and an ideal outing.
With too many, 2025 follies, of course, the curtains will open.
Looks to be taking shape ahead of opening day.
Hunter Gattis's status is in flux.
And of course, this episode is brought to you by our friends at LV the show, 26 visit

I did that today.
I used the code.
I figured, hey, I'm going to benefit as well.
Yeah, yeah, we're going to be playing a lot of MLB the show and if anybody wants to drop
their gamer tag, we're going to have it.
We'll play on now this show.
I have Xbox.
It can be cross platform now.
So it doesn't matter.
So I will play anybody online if they want to drop their gamer tag.
We'll try to hook up and do that because I know we're playing a lot when I do get the
copy.
So unfortunately for Tanner Bibley, I think this game against the giants on Tuesday must
have felt like a lot of 2025 because he pitched well.
He had six K's.
It was not a complete giant slide up, like there were some good dudes in there, but certainly
not all of the regulars by thought by he pitched, at least according to the date in the box
score.
We're not scouting the box score, but I'm just going by that saying the results that he had
or the ones you would like to have in Arizona against the lineup that has a few guys missing
at the point.
I thought it was interesting how heavily he featured the cutter and my God, he bullied
them with the cutter all game.
I mean, I think he threw, it was a second most used pitch in the game.
I think he had six swings and misses on.
I'm sorry.
He had seven.
It was his most used pitch.
It was.
You're right.
Yeah.
It was always equal to the four scene of 31%.
The cutter was 37%.
Oh, I'm sorry.
I can't.
I can't see things today.
I can't talk, but I can't see.
Last year was a 21% usage pitch for him.
So good to see him using a little bit more.
It was a good pitch for him again.
Seven whips, two called strikes, he threw the sicker, the change up for called strikes
in this one.
And the most important thing I would say in this outing was 75% first pitch strike.
I like to see that.
Lastly, it was fine.
Everything else was about where you'd like it to be.
Don't be disappointed thing as he didn't get out of the fourth inning, didn't work
out of the fifth at 71 pitches because a, he struck out a lot of guys and b, the guardians
made three errors behind him, which is very like 2025.
Have they let anyone go into the fifth so far?
I was like, oh, I can't tell how they look up to go.
Okay.
You know, this start reminded me of his last start, which was, you know, his birthday
start and was quite, quite good because in that one as well, he also was cutter,
four seam heavy.
It was like, I don't know, it was when I'm looking at it last time.
Those two were also about close to 70% of his pitches.
The thing that is different from week ago is he started to mix in the sinker more.
Now the sinker is a pitch that is a bit.
We have kind of learned over the years, you know, it's, it's a pitch, since he's a right
hand pitcher, it works best against writings.
So and he did feature it more against writings than lefties.
It got a bit overused last year, but last year is in 19, today was at 17, I'm sure other
things like, you know, he's got a lot of pitches to use and there's a lot of pitches that
it is arsenal, which is a good thing.
We've talked about that before with guys like Sean Armstrong, but it, you know, it could
be he just doesn't want to show everything in spring training and that's why he's gotten
so cutter four seam heavy.
Now his four seam is arguably one of his worst pitches in terms of just kind of data
off of it traditionally in the past.
So, you know, maybe he's done some things, maybe he's, we know he's a tinkerer, we know
he's always trying to improve.
Once again, more games get even more data looking at things like, you know, it's the arm,
his arm angle has never been consistent because he's trying to find the exact right arm
angle.
His rookie year was too high and it kind of caused pain and he's adjusted since then.
So it's always a good thing.
He's a tinkerer.
You know, a year ago, there was, you know, he struggled and then he kind of, as the
year went on, he got better.
And we're just hoping we'll see that carry on into this year.
And the last he starts, he's been incredibly encouraging again, it's spring training baseball.
You can take limited things from it because they're facing such limited lineups.
But bottom line at the end of the day, you want to see a guy pitched like this instead
of getting shelved because then you're concerned spring training baseball or not.
So yeah, it's like.
I mean, basically, I'm saying it's, it's good job.
This is what they need.
He's going to continue improving, moving forward, hopefully, I'm just trying to come off.
So it doesn't sound like I'm being negative.
Like, oh, it's only spring this.
He's been great.
Two great starts in a row.
It's what you want to see.
Yeah.
I think he's still again still lined up for opening day, I think, and I'd imagine that
after his next start, maybe even before that they will announce that at some point, but
the way the schedule lines up, he looks like he's going to be getting the call for opening
day.
Other good news, Jeff, his hunter-gattus did resume throwing.
He's not ruled out for opening day, but I think it's still up in the air whether or
not he can add up to it.
Yeah, I think it just doesn't make sense to rush it anyway.
But the good news, other good news though is, okay, he's throwing it again when she
like to hear Payton Bullet was had a solid outing, and this one, I mean, he only had 13
pitches to get through his inning, he's up to 98 through all four pitches.
I don't see any reason why we shouldn't project him to make the open day roster at this
point.
And then, Colin Holderman, I think we saw Shrides with his sweeper.
That's the big thing that Guardians needed to fix with him as a sweeper, because that was
his best pitch when he was good, and then he was dog water last year with it for some reason.
He threw three of them, two got whiffs, one was a called strike, the loss he's still good
for him, but the fastball metrics are kind of crappy, so it might make sense to carry
him with Gattis, I think he's the guy to carry if Gattis is out.
Someone's got to step up behind Kate Smith and Sean Armstrong with Gattis out, whether
that's a week, two weeks.
So who is in your circle of trust right now with the bullpen?
It's Gattis.
It's, I'm sorry, it's, if Gattis is, we're assuming he's out for opening day and maybe
a week after or two weeks after whatever it is, who falls in your circle of trust after
Kate Smith and Sean Armstrong, like who's next?
No one.
I mean, I don't really have anyone that I'm full on trusting.
You know, you got, for me, tier one is Kate, and then tier two was, was Gattis and Armstrong,
and then, you know, no one else, because like that's the thing, like as much as I might
have, I don't even know if I necessarily have a tier three, just because I have no one
I really feel super comfortable with.
But the next grouping, it's, it's probably it's Heron.
Soprowski's command over the past few years is just kind of giving me some pause with
as good as he can be at points.
It's like, I just can't trust him, you know, Frogden, I still not seeing it, Palette's
a young kid.
I feel like Heron is really the only guy who is even kind of a perfect, you know, sadly,
you might be right.
Fast and Mike, like if I'm going to rank the bullpen, how we project it to be with no
Gattis, right?
Like if I'm just going to sit there and be like, you know, Armstrong's eight Gattis and
Smith is nine, who's seven?
It's us.
It's, it's, it's, no, I probably go, do I go faster?
I might go Heron over faster.
Okay.
I'm just because the high point in the past.
Yeah, that's fair.
Yeah, I invest a, had his good moments last year when he wasn't overused, so, but no,
I think it's like for me, big use of tongue this year, it's like, I think it goes for
me.
I'm thinking the other way.
I know you're going like ninth, because the ninth inning, but I'm thinking like best.
So it's like, I can't say it's one Armstrong to Heron three, faster four.
I probably put Sibraski at five, though.
And then I'm probably going to go with Palette six, then Frogden, I just not, I, Frogden's
really got to prove it to me.
I was not a believer in that signing.
I'd probably put Holderman at that last spot, because again, those are two guys who have
to prove it.
And, you know, Holderman, they paid more money, too, but he's also got the options, which
is, I think that's because people keep asking, like, oh, they're going to cut, but one
of the reasons they brought in Holderman is they can send in a AAA and not risk losing
it.
You can be taken off the roster with that.
And he's got multiple options.
I think he's got two, I think he's got two and could be wrong there.
No, you're right, yes, two, two years of options with that.
Okay.
So, yes, he is the man of many options, not like Ben Lively.
Last thing to note in this game, too, we were talking about this off-air.
Chase, the water was back in the line of cut, three of that's hit the ball hard, which
is great.
All in the ground.
And my observation on that was, okay, like sometimes that's a light, like a lower half
thing, like you're, if you're not, you're lower half to the posture to use to lift the
ball in the air.
You can get a lower half.
It's not like so sore that he's unable to use it to loft the ball like you normally
does.
That's the only takeaway I had there.
But I guess the exit velocity was still there, whatever.
Yeah, negative launch angles are never great.
No, no, not great.
And injuries are not good either.
All right.
Enough of spring training talk.
We're talking about prospects.
We have to debate and finalize our order, twenty through eleven.
And then regarding top ten prospects for twenty twenty six coming up.
Hey, this is Jeff Carr from Lockdown Reds, and you know, I've reached the point in my
life where my wife and I are looking toward the future.
We've got the house.
We've got the career.
We even have an awesome dog, but now we need to secure that future.
That's where ethos comes in for us.

MLB opening day is almost there.
You could feel I think we're all championing at the bed at this point to get opening
day under way.
We want the fresh start, the big expectations, that first crack of the bat, and we wanted
to go down to the division race to down to the white.
I don't like being at the ballpark for all of those moments.
And the problem with any big event you want to go to, building tickets, they could be
a pain, right?
You got long queue.
Sometimes we're trying to log in, surprise fees, jumping at checkout, nobody likes that.
That then takes the fun out of an event you're anticipating worse than that.
And that is where game time comes in, giving the app that is giving the advantage back

All right, Jeff, we've got business to take care of.
Every time we did our prospect ranking talk, we did not hammer out twenty through eleven
because we just could not figure out how to divide things up.
We settled on George Valera at 19, so we got to get through twenty through eleven and then
we got to wrap things up by getting from ten to one and that'll be a little bit easier.
This is the range where we kind of struggled.
We settled on Valera at 19.
I had Valera at 20 and where we got into the fuzzy area was I had Chase Mobile at 19.
You don't have them in your top thirty.
No, I mean my top thirty five.
So who did you have at 20 again?
I think I had Cozard Myers, that was one of the issues.
Yeah, I mean I Cozard at 23 too because I just, I don't trust the bat.
There's a lot of contact issues.
I had Rosario at 20.
I think we settled on Rosario at 22, yeah, he's at 22.
So we did him or that one out.
Where did you put Cleo Watson, because I had him at 21, we settled, no, we both had
Watson at 21, so we settled that one.
The other guy that we had a big difference was Franklin Gomez, where I had him at 12.
I had Gomez at 12.
I'm not going to be able to meet you in the middle of Gomez, I think we're going to have
to save him for the, for hire, like I can't put him at 20 just because I am really hired
and that's a guy would put my foot in the ground on because I like the upside there.
I mean, I could settle with Cozard being a lot lower, like would you settle for Cozard
being like 18 above Valera, because the defense.
Not for me because I don't think he's going to, I think he's a backup, I think there's
a chance Valera starts.
Like I, the reason we give her so wild is I don't think, I don't, I don't trust Cozard
as a starter.
You don't think Cozard's defense is good enough to start.
I don't think I don't know because his back will be good enough.
I mean, I, I mean, Austin Hedges has started in the big leagues.
Do we think?
Yeah, he's not Austin Hedges though.
I mean, Austin Hedges is a multi-time gold glove or I'm not, you know, he's arguably
like Cozard's kind of good.
No, he's plus, he's not, he's not a 70, like Hedges was a 70.
Here's a guy who, I, here's a guy who, you know, I know he doesn't strike out as much,
but he's, he struggled to have OPS over 700 in, in A-ball when he is, you know, he's
the old guy.
He's the old guy.
I'll plug Cozard in at 20.
How's that sound?
That's fine.
If you, if you can't hit an A-ball when you're already a 22 year old, I don't see how
you're going to hit an A-ball.
Yeah.
That's just kind of my mind with him.
Yeah.
So 18, I had Walters.
Do you have a lot higher?
You still have a lot more impact there.
Uh, Walters.
I had him at 17, so I'm okay with him at 18.
All right, let's see.
Where was Lavalette for you?
Uh, I think I am a little bit higher on Lavalette than you are.
I had him there.
I am the 15.
I had him at 18.
Okay.
Do we put the difference and go 16?
Uh, let's wait on him.
Where do you have Peterson?
Um, actually, I did not rank Peterson the top 30, so that might have been a mistake
for me.
I might have moved up there.
Where do you have Peterson?
I have him at 16.
All right.
I'm fine with Peterson there.
I kind of should we, I mean, if you want, we could put him at 20 if you want to bump
up Cozart.
I'm okay with that.
You want to go Cozart 16 or what's up to you?
Like, I'll know like move everybody up and then put him at 20.
Yes.
Okay.
So Cozart 19 Valera 18 Walter 17 Peterson 20.
Okay.
I see that.
Yeah.
So yeah.
And then I had Brito at 16.
I kind of soured on Brito with the defense.
That's all.
I'm at 13.
Um, but should we have, so 16 is open right now, right?
Yeah.
We're at 16 right now.
Uh, so my, I had your mom go mad at 17, just by the way, like, I have him at 15.
I have it.
17.
So I think I think Gomez is a good fit at 16 then.
Okay.
So the question is, you want to put Gomez ahead of Lavelette or Lavelette?
I had a Gomez.
I think I, I think you have to put Lavelette ahead of them.
I know the concern with Lavelette, but like, that's fine.
Obviously, the ceiling for Lavelette is obviously way higher than that.
Yeah.
But that is more likely to relieve.
I just think it's a safer lever.
Uh, but maybe, maybe Lavelette at the worst is like Bradley Zimmer, although,
only these are.
If people are in Nolan Jones is Bradley Zimmer, I'm like, guys, yeah, I have no Bradley Zimmer
defender, but we forget that a peak he was pretty, a lead defender, defender.
That's not Nolan Jones.
No, that's a good one.
You're right.
Lavant is not gonna need that.
You're right.
Okay.
the upside with the bat is just too thin to work over over a six foot right
hander as much as we're excited about Gomez so yeah that's where I had
co-zoned we've settled on him I had I had hearted at uh 13 that's my next guy
out I have heartle at 14 um I'm fine with heartle at 14 that's what we are now
and that's the one I'm still pretty here's my question uh with Mobley if we
want to break somewhere in the middle who was 30 and 29 on our list
well we settled on rave schlussinger at 29 and don't delusia 30 I'd be fine
should we put money over delusia i would yeah i would that's fine i think there's
there's still a lot of upside there i don't i think i should put Mobley over
schlussinger i that's fine i'm okay with either those i had delusia 27 is i think he's
going to be a solid reliever but you know the central to start that makes sure
of being left handed i think makes sense yes yes yeah um yeah so i mean i
yeah three more to go in this section so yeah we settled on heartle at 14 i'm still
excited about him so here's my question do i have heartle at 14 or do we want brito at 14
brito at 14 um i would go heartle 13 and one brito 13 i haven't talked about him yet yeah
just because like there's a 13 twice now 14 for brito and heartle 12 or 13
13 that's fine yeah there's just such a limited yeah the the
he's he's a dh i mean he might be at first basement like it's just it's really hard
yeah and he just hasn't shown anything as a right hand hitter like so even you don't even get
the switch hitting bonus like i i maybe will be too low on him and he'll figure it out but
god i want i want to be proven wrong in him i hope he proves this wrong yeah so bad i like
i think it's him there it's just i haven't seen enough to convince me yet okay so we're
gonna run into some issues i already know here because the other guy that you are not high on
and we have have we we haven't raked uniker yet we have not you're right i am a 22
so we're gonna have a 12 okay let's come back figure that out we've got to get through the top 10
so we're gonna keep debating our prospect rankings we're gonna get through this today and we'll
have an official podcast top 30 guardians prospects the jeff and i can agree on somehow next
if you've ever been through the hiring process before as someone who's looking to hire people

basement hiding from a tornado if you're going to be so hi who knows i'm going to get weird over here
we're all going to make its opening day together talking about gardening space falls so subscribe
download all that fun jazz all right yeah unicorn casseris that is one we might have screwed the
poach on so you're you're 12 i was 22 what is it just the upside like what's the disconnect here
because like you don't normally rank guys this high who have not had upper level experience the
way he hasn't and we know the approach is not exactly all that free you know it's like forming
you have more faith in him than jace lava lot yeah because jace again here's the thing jace
lava lot i know no player has been successful with k rate in college over 25% that i have found
to the pros people like Aaron judge i'm like he was 21 like people like Bradley Zimmer i'm like
Bradley Zimmer was in 25% in college and he played it at a lesser college they had that event like
for me which is lava let it's he has to do something that no one has ever done that anyone has
and i had people it's been six months having people throw names at me and none of them
their final college year were over 25% like 20% is a concern 25% is like i take that player off my board
just full stop because it's not successful um you know when he came up he was using a whole fields
approach there's good swing data that's leaked out from other people talking about him um you know
in terms of like just what he can do with bat speed and the way he swings is bad and i just think
the ceiling of potential is there and for a 17 year old kid to get up to carolina and perform
pretty solidly in 30 games i i do think there's some potential there and i just i i just
looking at the player looking at what he did at age relative to level looking at
they almost never promote 17 year olds like chase moglie is we're debating him earlier
he spent the whole year in the as he uh you know and out there they don't push young guys
this young very often so it's also another thing i look at and yeah you know he cooled down
significantly after that kind of hot start but he i still believe in just the profile with him um
you know it's what our our average our mean is 17 with him so i just i would i would just move
everybody up and put him at 16 like a total 12 yeah because like i i there's such a split here
because like i know i know what you're saying i i agree with you about level that i'm not saying
you're wrong it's just yeah i he's so young and the approach you know you've done these episodes
before when you talked about it like what kills prospects the most why don't they succeed it's
it's bad approach and yeah i think there are still red flags at that approach like i i don't know
if he's a center field or either like that's the other thing too as well i'm not counting on him as
a center field or i gotta be honest but i just think like i look at him and lava lad i'm like
he's younger and lava lad and doesn't have health issues but has the kind of the same like
so questionary we're at 11 we haven't talked frank and gome as yet you were a little bit lower but
is this just 11 feels right for frank and gome as we haven't gotten there yet i got gome as 21
okay we're gonna have to go we're gonna have to go back and and he's definitely a
obviously isn't like top 20 i i gotta be honest i would put him above Austin Peter said like i
would move brito to 12 i would move heart heartle total heartle 11 excuse me brito 12 lava
lad 13 casseris 14 so here's our other problem so if we slot him let's just say wherever we slot
him in that then puts it put you're saying heartle at 11 so if we put heartle there here's our new
problem is we have not had basana jennao ralfi chase mezick doubty how steven engol oaky or chariot
yeah i'm not worried about that but that's 11 guys no the problem is that's 11 guys
all right so then we dropped somebody out at the end that's fine we're just we're gonna have to
really push south on some of these but i guess um i mean i i i i can't put gome as a head of
heartle and heartle got up to double a for no i i know i i agree with you there that's fine i
agreed to there i'm i would like i said i would just put him at at 15 like i would say like he's got
to me to me he's got to be above frankly i think he's got more than your mom you are mom sorry
frankly i love you are mom i think i got a better chance to start yeah okay um so now we're
in the top 10 um that's where i had well we haven't talked to joey oaky i should joey oaky 11
okay i had your 10 then a spino okay uh oh shoot so here's our problem we actually have
i we hadn't talked to spino so we have 12 guys we still have to we'll figure it out we'll figure it
um i had a spino add where did you uh spino a 10 yes i had him at 11
just 10 seem fine to you no i mean who's who's above him like i have i have chariot but i had oaky
i had oaky above him because i thought there was a slightly better chance oaky would start okay so
well for now well how we could joey oaky at nine for now at a spino 10 and then we'll adjust
well we're gonna have to drop some but we're gonna have to drop somebody out like yeah yeah
someone's coming out of the out of this list yeah because we got a slot in chariot and we're
gonna have to slot in honestly i would bump everybody down and drop rave out like he's 30 it then
as much as i like rave like he's we think he's right so who rave is 30 it's who's 29th
is mobile um right now it's mobile yes and then it's 28 we're gonna have to drop out two guys
franco alamon okay so we're probably gonna drop out alamon and and rave and keep mobile at 30
yeah i would rather have mobile and so let's go okay so are we doing that now are we dropping
yep are we dropping okay yep no we'll have the kind of less but then this gives us
so we're doing yeah who now we're back to 10 now we're back to 10 where i have okey we have okey 11 and
a spino 12 okay well one of them is gonna move up okay and then what we have to figure out is
where where did you have chariot on your list um i have chariot at nine oh okay i have him 10
okay well i'll just go to learn no let's just go with him attend them okay yeah so json chariot and i
mean i i guess i'll give him the mulligan for last year i don't i don't believe in the in the in
the offense i just don't know if he's a center field or either that's the thing like he's kind
of a tweener which i don't love so i'm i'm i'm he's there just because the upside now i have
angle of opinion i did drop angle quite a bit because the exit velocity concern and the fact that
he has doesn't have a great throwing arm like he's also a tweeter like yeah no my so my 8 9 10
were angle at 8 9 was okey and 10 was chariot all right i think i think we should do
cooper angle at 9 then okay let's let's just move up from there um so i had angle at 8 and then
i had messic 7 from there i think you mean a lot higher than i did i have messic at 5 but i'm okay
with him at 7 that's fine okay yeah because this picture group is very tight to me it's not like it's
a big separator it is it is yeah messic has done a lot to get the top 10 last year so good for him
um maybe this is too low on him but i had braille and doubty at six um i had him six as well so oh
okay maybe not okay i don't know like i i i think there's a case for him by the end of the year
to be the number two prospect in the system i mean at the end of the year i i could see it i wouldn't
be well Ralphie's probably still there um so yeah probably a case for him to be two three two three
yeah i mean we could just do this for you Travis Peson is number one we know that yeah the one
i'm going to fight you about is Cal Steven at two but uh if you have Ralphie too i'm fine with that
because i i think we got to go Ralphie too because i mean i still have Janelle because of position
and stuff but i think Ralphie too so it makes more sense we could do him now three but i i think
Cal Steven at four is yeah i can live with that and then chase five yes chase the water five and then
we have we still have one spot open at eight i haven't we haven't solved eight so we could
well then that wouldn't move everybody up so then eight would be oh yeah so that gets
Alamon back into the grouping yeah so well eight is in goal nine is yeah yeah okay sure
yo and okay in 11th spino yeah and then Schlesinger just as 31 and that hard old Rito lava
let casseris the Gomez is Walters Valera Cosaart Peterson Watson Rosario Curley Pilate Mitchell
Hines i will say we should flip Mitchell and Hines like i know Mitchell's got a good floor but like
well i don't know it's fine i think Mitchell's Hines is so risky i don't know probably not
yeah i like this list i'm fine with it you have anything you want to change at this point?
no i mean i should have been writing all downs i have it right in front of me but it all seems fair
and in the right range well we'll post it somewhere um yeah i don't know how big of a post we can do
in the youtube posts but i know we'll also like we'll share it out from our twitter accounts
yeah if you're if you're an insider or every day or you have access to google drive so
we'll put that in there Jeff will give me his rankings i'll give you mine and we'll show you
our combined rankings for the show um then we'll put it out put it out on social media and youtube
as well um so yeah it'll be access accessible somewhere uh all that announcement about the fantasy
leaks coming up this week and then tomorrow i'm going to be talking about um which players actually
have stood out in spring training which comments are i wash and i will get into the top uh
100 list and uh debate white cadence should be there because he's not and i'm going to give you
good reason why you should be so tune in tomorrow for that yeah i also gave my take on that one
it's your take it as he's not um again uh let me know if you want the mock right now it's
three to nothing in terms of people wanting the mock if so then we will do a 29 pick maybe
thirty pick mock on for friday uh thank you all for joining us remember to read and review down
look daily it helps and go go guardians go
