Cole Caulfield is making ways for the Montreal Canadiens this season.

The 25-year-old winger has scored 40 goals in just 66 games, putting him second in the

NHL behind Nathan McKinnon by only five.

top goal score over its 27-year history.

That puts Caulfield in prime position to change that streak.

He's the first haps player to hit 40 goals since Vincent Dampus back in 1993-94.

With 15 games left, he could become their first 50 goals score since Stefanie Reacher in 1989-90.

Fans and analysts are buzzing about his rise.

Caulfield has steadily improved each year, nearly doubling his rookie total of 23 goals.

His clutch play stands out with five overtime winners and nine game-winning goals, helping

keep Montreal in the playoff hunt.

The team around him is getting stronger too, which should boost his numbers even more.

At 68 points, he is closing in on his career high from last season.

Drafted 15th overall in 2019, he is already easing pressure on teammates and drawing comparisons

to Canadians' legends like Maurice.
