Colts Top Free Agent DT Target: DJ Reader

Taccles, DJ Reader, he's ranked third among available defenders, and experts say he'd fit right in because he's familiar with the Colts defensive coordinator, Liu. An Arumo, from their time together in Cincinnati, the Colts struggled last season, finishing 27th and run defense grade against interior gaps, and Reader has a strong track record there, especially during his peak years from 2021 to 2023. He earned high overall grades above 82 in 2022 and 2023, and An Arumo praised his play and leadership before he left. That said, the Colts have already added depth of front by trading for Colby Wooden and signing Derek in Inati and Jerry Tillery, joining stars like DeForest Buckner, so their bigger gaps remain at linebacker and edge rusher, with long-term tackle needs looming in 2027.
