Today's biggest winners and losers in the stock market.
On this episode of Stock Movers:
- Comcast (CMCSA) shares are back and forth this morning after Chief Financial Officer Jason Armstrong said he sees no improvement in broadband subscriber losses in the current quarter. Armstrong said rivals are offering broadband access for $30 to $40 a month for speeds of 1 gigabyte a second, which he said is not a rational price point.
- Apple (AAPL) shares are higher as it unveiled the iPhone Duo, the company's first foldable smartphone, which will improve on rivals' foldable models. The device will be available for preorder on Oct. 16 in more than 70 countries and regions, ahead of its release on Oct. 23, and will sit at the top of Apple's iPhone lineup.
- Meta (META) is higher as JPMorgan upgrades to overweight from neutral, citing upside potential after the social media giant launched its AI assistant.

I'm Nathan Hager joined by Bloomberg's UN Parts and I'm warning we've been talking about foldable iPhones. UN Parts is talking about cutting the cord. Why are we watching Comcast this morning? You and good morning. Good morning. It's all about broadband. Comcast, Comcast, CFO, CSEC's, no improvement in broadband subscriber losses in the current quarter. Assigned that competitors are offering lower prices, lowering customers away. He points out that rivals are offering rates for broadband access in the range of 30 to 40 dollars a month for speed of 1 gigabit of second. Comcast, offering comes in at 50 bucks a month for that speed. The company says that rivals prices are at a level that makes it hard to show a return on investment. Analysts were forecasting just over 100,000 subscriber losses in the current quarter, but the comments suggest that number could be closer to the prior loss, which was nearly 170,000 shares were lower earlier, just now peaking into the green. Okay, well, let's get the update then on Apple after the iPhone Do-Well announcement.
Yeah, plenty of analysis coming through on the world's second most valuable listed company. Commentators generally positive on the new duo foldable iPhone set to hit stores at a price tag of up to $3,200. Bloomberg intelligence says that duo is one of the better design products by the smartphone maker in several years and BI anticipates a much better consumer reception than recent models. It reckons that Apple will sell about 14 million of these things in the first 12 months. The prior scenario suggested between 10 and 14 million units. But on the margin story, remember Apple is facing rocketing prizes for memory chips, Jeffree's analysts say they believe that Apple wants to boost volume at the expense of margin and TD Cowon describing the price increases for existing models as modest and looking at the pre-market, some modest gains for Apple shares as well, 1.3%. Now we're seeing a similar move as well for meta-platforms. Is there still some lingering
positivity around that AI assistant they announced this week? Yeah, exactly that. MetaShare is also in the green this morning. JP Morgan has given a like to the Facebook and Instagram owner, upgrading from usual to overweight, citing upside potential after that AI assistant that you mentioned launched recently by Meta. In the note, the analysts say that meta is in the early stages of releasing frontier models and AI-driven products beyond advertising, notably the Muse AI agent and meta-model API access. JP Morgan has set a price target of 820 bucks, implying a hefty 25% increase from the last close. MetaShare is up 1.3% building on a great run, actually, up about 14% in September so far.
