A lot of national narratives have taken roots and are firmly planted in the minds of commanders fans. Commander's fans understand this, the March commanders may not do great this year. They may regress a little bit, but the national collapse narrative and the death of the Washington

2:26commanders, that storyline and that narrative and that hot take has become very, very detached from what August has actually shown us. And what we've actually seen from this team and it's coming quite frankly from a lot of people who have not seen this team and not been around this team. And so I would tell you take with the grain of salt anyway, but it's like getting your French fries from something that's not a potato. I don't even know what it would be, but it's not a potato to me. It's just kind of like you're getting your sources, your information from places that probably don't have much business, give you that opinion or that information in the first place. A lot of it is just like I said, it's ridiculous. And it's designed to keep your attention. It's designed to keep you talking. Truthfully, it works. And it's works to the point where I've got a lot of messages from or everyday club members. I'm seeing it a lot on my timelines. I'm just seeing it everywhere from commanders fans, which it just kind of reinforces. This is why they do this stuff because they get you going and get you talking and get you circulating, recirculating, you're sharing videos, you're sharing tweets, you're doing all this other stuff.

3:27And in this business, there is a saying that no, no bad press is good press or no press is bad press. If I can, if I'm not put you're the saying, no press is bad press. So XYZ guy on XYZ channel says something maybe a little ridiculous. It gets put out there. And the effect is still the same, essentially, as a way to a lot of these people use. In fact, actually, there's Twitter user, Carebear, 888, that's K-A-R-E, BearBE-A-R-E-8, Share to Graphic, it came across my timeline, Fox Sports, Top 10 picks, other 2027 NFL draft, like a mock draft. And the commanders aren't one of the teams in the Top 10 picks. But there is a Fox Sports analyst saying companies saying that the wash commanders can be the worst team in the league. So you got one analyst for the company saying the commanders can be the worst team in the league. You got another analyst making a graphic of a top 10 projection the next year's NFL draft and commanders aren't even in the top 10. So which is it? Truthfully, it's likely I'm assuming two different people who work for the same company have different opinions, takes whatever, but it's all generated.

4:27It's all there to just spin up controversy. And if it's not targeting the wash commanders fan base, it's targeting another fan base. And truthfully, commanders fans, you are a great target for this type of stuff from national media members because you're passionate. You engage, you talk, you discuss, you defend, you accuse, like you are an engaged fan base, so you're easy to do or not easy to do this to, but you're easier to do this to because you engage, you're better to do this to because you engage and you're a large or a large amount of people. But let's look at some of these takes, right? Because even I got sent a link to a lot on NFL, our own national show. And look, I'm on the national show. So when I talk about national topics on teams that I don't cover on a daily basis, I do my best to go out there and research the topics and Tony Wiggins does a great job of sending me the topics he wants to discuss beforehand. So I have time to research and maybe reach out to our host of that show and say, hey, listen, here's kind of what I'm going with this. Tell me where I'm wrong. Tell me where I'm right. Give me information. I don't have, et cetera, et cetera. And even then, I'm not going to get it right 100% of the time, right? But I at least come that from a national perspective of trying to give you opinions, takes

5:31analysis that are rooted in fact. I would love to tell you that everybody does that. But quite frankly, and it's pretty obvious, at least if you pay attention up to those who are on ground every day, it's quite obvious. Now that we all agree on everything. But it's pretty obvious that some of these opinions and some of this analysis, quote, unquote, is far off based on, and we're going to go over some of the ones that have come across my timeline. Some of them that have been sent to me by every day or who kind of want, like, here's what I'm hearing on the national stage. Give it to us from the local stage. And again, I'm only one local reporter. So even this is just my local opinion. But commanders look back and joint practices. The thing that stood out to me about this was plural. Joint practices. They had two joint practices. One of these Miami dolphins, one of these Baltimore Ravens. Look, they got mud stomps against the Baltimore Ravens. Well, let's just keep it 100, right? Jeremy Reeves, I put the clip on locks on commanders, said it was not acceptable. It was not good enough. It's how you win five games is how people get fired, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. I think he was 100% right. Yeah, they did terrible with the Baltimore Ravens. But they ran the Miami dolphins. Like they absolutely ran the Miami dolphins. And what those two things prove is that on that day, on that week, because they also

6:33did the same thing in the game, they were better than the Miami dolphins who are consistently considered to be one of the worst teams in the NFL. And local Miami reporters also believe they're probably going to be one of the worst teams in the NFL. Then you go to the Baltimore Ravens, who consistently, nationally and locally are expected to be one of the best teams in the NFL. And the washmeners got their butts handed to them in the joint practice. Good on good. They got their butts handed to them, you know, depth on depth in the preseason game. So that tells you that that weekend, that weekend, that weekend, they were not as good as potentially best team in the AFC. We are now coming up on two weeks removed from that last joint practice, coming up on a month removed from that previous joint practice. So the question I would ask to anybody still harping on the either of them is, it doesn't matter anymore. And why do you think it matters anymore? Because we all know how this life works. You move on, you learn, you digest, you get better, hopefully. And that's where the wash commanders are. Injury disrupted washing throughout training camp. Yeah, injuries have been a big narrative problem. And they've been a big problem for the washroom. Laramie Tonsville, Johnny Newton, Doran's Armstrong coming back from his injury.

7:34Train aim is obviously getting a little bit of practice and then not aggravating. But suffering new injury, Nick Gallagready, you court crossing merit, right? The list goes on on Daffaille, Vikaela, Montchayson. So yeah, injuries have absolutely been a concern during the training camp portion. However, entering the regular season now, of course, Johnny Newton, Laramie Tonsville, they're going to be gone for most of the season, if not the entire season. Trey Amos is on IR along with Jeremy and Nick Ols. So both those guys are going to miss the first four games. But Kayle Montchayson, returning to practice, the court crossing merit getting at least limited work with pads at the end of last week during the bonus wear this week. I just said during the bonus week, Daffaille, Dan Quinn, setting expects him back at practice on Wednesday when we get back and get ready for week one. Nick Gallagready stacking some good practices. So again, that narrative kind of needs to start to add a little bit of context of, yeah, a lot of injury suffered during training camp, but also a good amount of guys coming back and oh, by the way, Doran's Armstrong getting healthier and healthier to be ready for week two, his return to Dallas where he suffered that injury. If he can be ready to maybe get a little bit of revenge, the defense added mercenaries,

8:36right? And I don't really know why this is kind of like a negative, but it's basically kind of giving the impression that it's not necessarily a cohesive group. I can only really tell you, right? Like I can't really convince you by this. I can just tell you this past rush is connected. You've seen it a little bit in the preseason games. If you've been to practice, you've probably seen it. This past rush is connected. It's cohesive, no matter who's on the field, even when Daffaille is not out there, even when Kayla on chase songs not out there, this defense, you know, there's some one year contracts, of course, because that's what Adam Peters does. More on those on here in a little bit, but they're not just dudes out there playing for themselves. They're absolutely guys out there. They're playing connected as a team as a team. Dan Quinn is grasping at straws, saying that the approach to building the team right now is desperate. The approach to building the team is not desperate. The approach to building the team and to building the team, not from a roster standpoint, right, but from a mechanism standpoint, doing more unscripted periods than ever before, because you have two first time play callers challenging your team in end of game scenarios, because that's where they lost a lot of those games last year.

9:36After having a very successful season, the year before 2024, in those close games, they had a very rough season in 2025 in those close games. It's your challenging in the right place. So I don't know where that came from. Adam Peters comments were weird. Listen, every time Adam gets in front of the media, it feels a little bit weird, because he doesn't do it a lot for one. And because he's just kind of not really all there. Now I understand he's doing stuff with Grant and Danny, which is a great, good experience for him, great environment for him to do that as well. But I don't know where the comments that were weird. I don't know. I heard the press conference. I saw the comments about like the vibes were off. You tell they're uncomfortable. I don't know guys. I've talked to Adam Peters and Dan Quinn more probably off the record, like not just not in the interview setting that I have an interview setting. They seem pretty normal to me, including the last day that we saw them out there in Ashbandh, Bashburn. Things are weird right now in Washington. There is some weirdness, right? But the weirdness is not like negative. The weirdness is who's going to be available? What is it going to look like? We haven't seen these schemes in full.

10:36And I think that, like there's a fear of unknown, right, just in human nature. So for us, we haven't seen these schemes in full against an actual opponent. Yeah, personally, I don't worry about me and right. I worry about giving you what's accurate right now. And if it turns out to stay accurate later, great. If it changes, we'll talk about the changes. I don't have a problem with that. So I think that's where some of the weirdness is coming. It's just because we feel like we know what to look for, but we also don't necessarily know what to look for. Jayden Daniels, Body Language is bad. Look, I see this clip running around. They're literally doing snap and block drills. That's all they're doing. Snap and block. Quarterback has no role other than catch this thing in football. I don't know what you expect Jayden Daniels to do in that situation. Jayden Daniels, take that ball, drop back a couple of paces, fire a bullet over to Territman Claren who ain't running around. There ain't no defense. These videos come out and people are like, oh, look at this. Look at that. Like there's an analyzing things to an extent that don't need to be analyzed. And that is one of those things that doesn't need to be analyzed. Washington got too close to the sun in 2024. There's no such thing. They're going to have a terrible season. You have no way of predicting that right now. Things can go any which way. There's always a team in the NFL that surprises by doing really well.

11:38There's also one from that surprise by doing really poorly. Washington could be either of those or they could be in the middle. So there's just a lot of narratives out there. Try to say just focus on what matters to the football. Guys are coming back from injuries. Guys are feeling good about the system. The system looks exciting from what we've seen so far. And Dan Quinn has a team focus on what matters and that is week one against the Philadelphia Eagles. 13:40I'm going to praise myself for being right. Good job, David. Thank you, David. All right. That's enough of that. But I'm right because I say this every time this comes up, the cornerback position is incredibly dependent and say very dependent position. And because of it, it tends to fall down the tiers of importance when it comes to roster building. Now that's not to say every single team every single year is going to do this. It's absolutely not there. There are going to be some teams like you can't see you choose this year who just look at Montort Elaine and they're like, man, you are the bees. Needs like you're the next to Royal Revis. We're going to jump up. We're going to come get you at number six. We're not going to let the washmen are having number seven. Now I always go back to this Trevor Sikim. And now of NFL media. Congrats, Trevor. Passer. Pass, Russia, pass protector. Those are the top three things you need to build a successful NFL team. If you got those three things. If you got an elite passer, an elite pass rush or pass rush or an elite pass protection or elite pass protector, you are going to be competitive. Now pass defender playmaker. Those are the other two pillars of a five pillar success one to fell team. If you've got elite talent at all five of those levels, you're going to compete for a

14:41Super Bowl. If you can keep them healthy. If you've got at least those three, you can contend. If you don't have at least those three, I would argue you're going to have a rough time. Terrain Amos, however, his injury obviously helps shape things in the secondary, but also should reshape the way we looked at the way that Adipeter's went after this cornerback position. Terrain Amos, starting off the year on IR, didn't participate in the off season program, didn't participate in the first stretch training camp. None of this was a surprise to Adipeter's Dan Quinter, the Washington commander. They knew that this was either going to happen or likely to happen as they're signing for agents, as they're drafting players, but they spent no early picks at the position. They spent no draft take at all in fact in the position. They only signed one player that we all viewed as an immediate impact player, Amig Robertson. That's how much the wash commanders and Adipeter's went after this cornerback position group. Then they signed a color where the student who ended up retiring in camp for a school Douglas. I got very excited for when they signed, but they signed him right before camp started, all while knowing that Amos was going to miss significant time leading up to his critical second season. Does that sound like there's a whole lot of urgency around that position group?

15:43No. Now, they amiss on IR. The commander's brought in some practice squad depth to further ensure the position. They're leading on St. Rochelle Robertson and two guys who were available in late July, Douglas and Fabian Moro. Let's not talk down about either of those guys, right? I think Douglas specifically had a really great camp, but it just kind of further shows the lack of urgency around the position group connected us so why that might be. Everyone would love to have a Daryl Revis, but teams know that you don't have to have Daryl Revis to have a successful season because a great pass rush can make several defensive players better all at the same time while a great corner makes one coverage assignment better. Doesn't really trickle down to the rest of them other than maybe not to go in with much help, right? Ten best pass or ratings against in 2025. I'm going to read these off to you. Jamel Dean, Tampa Bay Buckeniers, ninth, had the ninth ranked pass rush and pressures behind them. So you had the ninth best pass rush in Tampa Bay behind or in front of Jamel Dean leading at him having the best opposing pass or rating against. Second place Joey Porter Jr. had the fifth best.

16:43Quinyon Mitchell had the seventh. Quinyon Mitchell had the sixth. Pat Surtan had the first Derek Stingley junior had the fourth. The only outlier here is Quinyon Mitchell. Everybody else had a top five pass rush in front of them as they're going about being the top five passing pass or rating against. Everybody else is over Quinyon Mitchell who we all think is pretty darn special and I know it still hurts that he's not in Washington, but it is what it is. So Pat Surtan also very special, but Jamel Dean, he was allowed to walk away by the Tampa Bay Buckeniers as a free agent to Pittsburgh. So Jamel Dean finished top five and five and opposing pass or rating in 2021 as well when the Bucks had the top pass rushing pressure defense in the NFL. So of course, there is the argument that a good cover corner can also help improve the pass rush to and that's true to a certain extent, right? But there were years the Buckeniers had a top rush unit. 2020 there were number one, for example, 2024, number two, for example, yet Jamel Dean was not in the top of the league and opposing pass or rating because the pass rush will help elevate the corner, but not the other way around. They can both help each other, but the pass rush has the greater multiplier effect.

17:44So that leads seems to taking these or let these top corners quote unquote like Jamel Dean walk, which what the Buckeniers did in the NFL will also tell you further evidence of this. The top sack producer every year gets paid, where it's projected to get paid. The top pass rate or a pass or rating against corner, not so much. His annual average value this year, 26 for Jamel Dean coverage efficiency is not what gets premium contracts. It's takeaways and that is why the washman's love Mikey Sanders. So I get a lot of questions. Why do the commanders love Mikey Sanders still when his, you know, PFL grade isn't great. His pass or rating against isn't great. It's turnovers in his first two years. Mikey Sanders still ranked six in the NFL among corners and interceptions. The other five and I say that loosely because three of them are tied for number six, including Sanders. So Marlon Humphrey, 11th and annual average value contract, Don TAY Jackson, hard to kind of compare him. He has his late career, older production, Derek Sengley, Jr. 5th highest annual average value, Byron Murphy 15th, Camarie Lasser on a rookie deal, but is projected to land a major deal if he continues his current pace.

18:46Mike Jackson projected to more than double his annual average value as a free agent next off season in JC Horn six. So that tells you where the money comes, takeaways, not opposing pass or rating against. That tells you where NFL teams are focused, where NFL GMs are focused because the solid coverage grade can be impacted by the past rush. Being the football requires something different. In the seven games, Lawrence Armstrong played in 2025, including week seven, when he left with that knee injury, Sanders still was roughly middle of the pack and pass or rating against, but he was tied for a second in the league in interceptions. After Armstrong left, that's when essentially the commander's past rush ceased to exist anymore. Sanders still dropped to dead last in his peer group and rating against, but he stayed top 10 in interceptions. That's the distinction. One statistic collapsed because the ecosystem around him collapsed. The other one stayed top 10 state elite, right? Which one do you think Washington believes tells him more about Michael Sanders still their own roster activities tell you it's the takeaway. They went out and got a soul Douglas who was known for giving up plays from here that

19:46here and there. He's going to go after the ball. Amig Robertson who's known for giving up plays here and there, but they went after the ball. I'm not getting you opinion here. I'm telling you what the Washington cleaners are showing you. They want. They want guys that go out there and the individual coverage can get elevated by the past rush. Once that happens, you're going to take the ball away. It's like judging the quality of stake. When the grill is broken before you even get to cook it, when you judge a cornerback based off of coverage with no past rush, it's just it's really hard to do. Maybe the steak was really bad, but the cooking environment makes it really hard to prove whether it was so next up corner should not be an impetus priority in 2027 either. 22:49How to look at names per say all the way. I'm going to drop some names. We will meant so we will mention some but more so looking at position groups than anything else in order of the hardest to replace as of right now. Edge is the top top need. And you might be confused really. Probably went they dropped Josh with Joseph. They signed it up. Oh, I can say edge. Doran Armstrong inspiring contract Caleb on chase on one year deal. Charles and many who won your deal. That's where part of this whole mercenaries thing is coming from, which is ridiculous. I think ultimately what the commanders need to do or should look at doing. And I hear from the great Ben standing last man standing that Danny a grant without a Peter's a lot of name dropping on. Apparently Adam Peter said with Danny, Grant Danny. In their live event that more extensions are coming. I think Caleb on chase on Charles and many you should be two of those extensions. Exem both those guys. If they and again, this is all assuming they do what they're currently doing, which looks pretty good. So extend Caleb on chase on extend Charles and many you will see what Doran's arm drawing looks like coming back from injury and getting a little bit older. And then so you can look at potentially mid round pick on an edge, depending again on

23:52Josh with Joseph and Jementation on Baptist development in season, you could end up with a really good force some here. Have chased on a menu Joseph's Jementation on Baptist Adafo as your fifth, your leader of the group. That's a really solid solid look in front five or five guys right there. If you if they do what they're doing so far, that's a really solid five man group right there. So if you did around pick on an ad rusher, probably likely as well wider sewers to find digs, trailing berks, both of those guys on one year deals, high draft pick likely coming on the wider seaver group or for the wider seaver group in 2027. I think that sunny styles wasn't on the board. There was a very good chance they were targeting carnal tape. Of course, he isn't going to the sense of titans, but if he would have been there, I think there's a very good chance if it was either sunny styles or carnal tape going to the commanders and number seven. They love sunny, not going to hate that, but go back to wider seaver in 2027, potentially while you continue to develop Williams Lane and McCaffrey if McCaffrey is still around. The defensive line, drawing pain is on expiring contract. This gets bumped up the list a little bit because of Johnny Newton's injury. Johnny Newton is going to miss most if not all the season.

24:54I think we all pretty much thought this was drawn pain last ride. So I'll tell you, from the second drawn tape Jones got in here, I've been telling you guys, I think drawn pain is going to fit really, really well in this system, in this game. He could play himself into a new deal, guys. I'm just telling you right now, it could potentially happen. John Kim, next to him, and many who's been playing inside, Tim Settle, Shy Tuddle, Johnny Newton. Look, they're all very solid players, but I think drawn pain. If he becomes the engine, makes this thing go inside, wouldn't be surprised to come back. If they still move on from him, however, Los Angeles Rams, defensive tackle, Kobe Turner is scheduled, I should say, to be an unforestricted free agent. He's younger. I think he would be really good in this system as well, replacing to Ron Payne's safety position. Juan Martin, Percy Butler, Tyler Owens. I think you end up bringing back Butler Owens. If Coach Iso is here, I think Butler Owens will be back. Juan Martin is the one who's up in the air. We'll see how his performance is during the season. You either extend Juan Martin if he does well, or you get a mid-level draft pick on his safety if you need him. Again, that just kind of depends. Rashad White is on an expiring deal. One year deal from the running back room, I think you extend Rashad White.

25:56He's going to want to stay here and play with Jayden Daniels again, and there's some success between him and Bill. They've got a great relationship. He won't buy any hype coming out of Tampa that Rashad left because he wants to be D primary back. He's absolutely a team player. He just wants to be involved. I think the washcomers here are going to involve him. Extend Rashad White. Linebacker Frank Ylubo on an expiring deal. If Leo Chenol can show that he can step up into that role in 2027, I could see the washcomers letting Frankie leave. I would hate it. I love Frankie. I think he's right for this team. I think he's a great leader as well. But if Sunny takes a step towards being a leader of this defense, I could potentially see Frankie being allowed to walk and a mid-to-late round pick being used on a line back. Or quarterback Mark Mario does on a one-year deal. A think Caliac Manis. Look, I know some of you think that he's already the second best quarterback on this roster. And I'll be honest with you, there were definitely times where he looked like the second best quarterback on this roster in training camp. But Mark Mario also deserves a huge amount of wiggle room here, a benefit of the doubt from his experience.
