Commanders Lock in Safety Jeremy Reaves

The Washington commanders have locked in one of their standout defenders for the long haul.

On Thursday, the team announced the contract extension for safety, Jeremy Reeves, keeping

him through the 2027 season.

Reeves, a 29-year-old veteran, has basically built his whole career in Washington.

He started as an undrafted free agent with the Eagles back in 2018, but after getting

waived, he quickly joined the commander's practice.

Reeves wad and stuck around.

Over the past eight seasons, he's played in 81 games with 19 starts.

Last year in 2025, Reeves suited up for all 17 games, starting eight, and racked up

91 tackles, including five for loss.

Seven passes defenced, and one interception.

He lobbed 62% of the defensive snaps, and 55% on special teams, showing his versatility

across the board.

The reliability paid off big in 2022 when he earned first team all pro honors and a pro

bull nod for his special team's work, making this extension, a smart move to hold on to

a proven leader.
