Commanders' New Offense: Allegretti & Blough

The Washington commanders kicked off free agency aiming to build a younger, faster team.

Just two weeks in, they signed 12 outside free agents and boosted their defense with plenty

of under 30 talent that was missing the last.

Couple of seasons.

They also locked in some of their own players like Guard and Center Nick Allegretti with

an extension through 2027.

After surprisingly cutting center Tyler Biodaz before free agency, the team sees Allegretti

as their main in-house option to step in at center.

He's entering his third season in Washington and cannot be more pumped about it.

Allegretti is especially thrilled to work under the new offensive coordinator, David Blue.

The two go way back as Big Ten rivals with Allegretti at Illinois and Blue at Purdue,

facing off every year from 2014 to 2018.

Allegretti has nothing but praise for Blue, calling him special from their college days

and even a shrine game workout.

He loves Blue's passion for football and predicts a 30-year-old coordinator will land a

head coaching job in his mid-30s.

These smart moves signal a fresh start for the commanders, blending youth, experience,

and strong leadership on offense.
