Court Blocks Trump's Border Asylum Ban
The Daily News Now!
Host
A federal appeals court in Washington, DC just shot down President Trump's executive order
from his first day in office, the one blocking asylum, claims at the southern border.
That order, signed January 20th, called the border situation an invasion, with tens of
thousands waiting for appointments through the CBP1.
At Pee-Gai-In, the three-judge panel ruled it illegal under current immigration laws,
saying no one can override the right to apply for asylum right there at the border.
The Department of Homeland Security fired back hard, calling the decision a setback, but
stressed Trump's top goal is still vetting every foreigner, trying to enter, work, or
live here, while cracking down on fraud in the legal stays.
The ruling won't kick in right away since the administration can ask for a rethink, so
expect more legal battles ahead as the border pressures keep.
Building.
