Cowboys' Defense: A New Nineties Powerhouse?
The Daily News Now!
Host
On May 1st, a Cowboys fan from Florida is hyped about the team's recent moves to draft
and trade for defensive talent, saying it feels like the early 1990s when they built
a powerhouse around a stacked offense.
Back in 1992, they traded for Charles Haley and grabbed Kevin Smith, Robert Jones, and
Darren Woodson in the first couple rounds.
Turning things around quick, that set up mirrors what's happening now, with the offense
already clicking and youth coming in on defense to shake things up.
The big question mark is pass rush.
Those 90s teams had Haley dominating off the edge with deep rotations while right now,
we just don't know if.
The starters can deliver like that.
Only time will tell if a guy like Gary steps up big to push them over the top, especially
after last year's struggles compared to that number one, total defense ranking back
then.
