Cowboys' Pickens on Franchise Tag, Lamb's Future

On April 30th, George Pickens just signed his franchise tag with the Dallas Cowboys, locking

him in for the 2026 season at about $27 million.

This gives the team their star-wide receiver for one more year after his breakout performance

last season.

But come 2027, things get tricky financially.

Another tag would jump to around $34 or $35 million, a 20% hike, and that's tough when

CDLAMs already eating.

Up 34 million a year on his extension through 2028, NFL insider Mike Tannenbaum broke it

down on the Pat McAfee show, saying the Cowboys won't double tag Pickens.

With LAMs chemistry alongside Dak Prescott, they'd rather let Pickens walk and draft the

fresh replacement to protect that core duo.

Pickens outshown LAM last year with 1429 yards to his teammates 1077, but he was always

seen as a short term.

Hal's famer Michael Irvin added that Pickens signed to Block Dallas from drafting another

receiver early, like they almost did with McCye Limon.

For now, the Cowboys get the best of both worlds this season, but next off season, expect

to shift as they eye the cap and plan ahead.
