Cowboys Scout Miami Talent for Secondary Rebuild

On March 27, the Dallas Cowboys are laser focused on rebuilding their secondary after posting

the league's worst past defense last season.

With multiple picks in the 2026 NFL Draft, their scouting top talent early and Monday's

pro day at the University of Miami was a big stop for them.

Head coach Brian Shottenheimer, defensive coordinator Christian Parker, and vice president

of Player Personnel Will McClay all showed up in Coral.

Gables, joining over 100 NFL scouts, Miami boasts some standout defensive prospects, especially

past rushes drawing first round buzz.

Cowboys legend Michael Irvin, a Miami alum, was right there too, chatting up the staff

and pushing hard for more hurricanes on the roster.

His ties to the program run deep, especially after their recent national championship push.

One player who caught eyes was Nickel Corner, Keonte Scott, who blazed an unofficial 4.25

second 40 yard dash with Scouts timing, him around 4.3 to 4.35.

His speed and film make him a perfect fit for Dallas's needs in the slot.

Meanwhile, defensive end Rubin Bane Jr. impressed with his college stats, including 54 tackles

and 9.5 sacks last year.

As a versatile past rusher, he could go early, but the Cowboys sit at the 12th overall pick

and have options to target Miami talent this off season.
