Cowboys Trade for Linebacker Winters

On April 25th, the Dallas Cowboys just made a slick move in the draft, trading their

fifth round pick, number 152, to snag.

Linebacker Demarvian Winters from the San Francisco 49ers.

At 5 foot 11 and 227 pounds, he's stepping in to beef up their thin linebacker room right

away.

Winters came out of TCU and got picked by the Niners in the 6th round, number 2016 overall

back in 2023.

The Cowboys already knew him from Dallas day that year, so no real learning curve for

the scouts.

They desperately needed bodies at linebacker, coming into the draft with just Demarvian

overshown, Shamar Turner James, and Justin Baron on deck.

Last season, Winters started all 17 games, racking up 101 tackles, 8 tackles for loss,

3 quarterback hits, 5 pass, deflections, and that wild 74-yard pick, 6 to I say playoff

win over the Colts.

Now he's the vet of the group with 47 games under his belt, even if overshowns a tad

older.

He'll earn $3.67 million this year on the last of his rookie deal.

This trade shows Jerry Jones and Crew going all in early, setting the tone for a linebacker

rebuild that could pay off big if Winters keeps producing.
