Cowboys Trade for Linebacker Winters
The Daily News Now!
Host
On April 30, the Dallas Cowboy is just traded a fifth round pick to the San Francisco 49ers
for linebacker D Winters, plugging a big hole in.
Their defense ahead of the NFL draft.
They've been hurting a linebacker after withing on free agents, and Winters steps in as
a solid option at 5 feet 11 inches and 200, 25 pounds, fresh off playing all 17 regular
season games, plus the playoffs last year.
49ers GM Kyle Lynch called him a locker room favorite, and a contributor from his days
as a sixth round pick out of TCU.
But he sees this as a chance for Winters to shine elsewhere.
This move gives Cowboy's defensive coordinator, Christian Parker, some starting potential
right away, easing the rush to chase more vets, though depth.
Stays thin behind guys like Demarbian overshown, and rookies, such as Jay Shawn Barham.
With Winters hungry to build on that breakout, Dallas Hobs Parker unlocks his full game
next season, turning this trade into a real win.
