Cowboys Trade Up for Love in NFL Draft

On March 26th, the Dallas Cowboys head into the 2026 NFL draft, with a total picks and plenty of flexibility, according to head coach, Brian Shottenheimer.

They hold two first round selections at number 12 and number 20, thanks to their 7-win 9-loss, 1-tie finish last season, and a trade.

That brought in Michael Parsons from the Green Bay Packers.

The team plans to bring back its entire core offense next year, featuring quarterback Dak Prescott, wide receiver C.D. Lam and George Pickens, plus running back to Vante Williams.

Williams just wrapped a strong year with 1,201 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns, then signed a 3-year 24.

Million dollar extension in February, even with Williams set to lead the backfield, expert C. Dallas adding another running back through the draft, to boost depth.

That can mean getting aggressive early, given their high picks and solid lineup already in place.

Recent mock drafts point to a big move, with pro football focus projecting the Cowboys to pack as their first rounders and trade up to number 3, overall with the Arizona Cardinals.

The target there is Notre Dame running back, Jeremiah Love, who posted effort 72-R72 rushing yards, 18 touchdowns, and a top tier grade last season.

Other outlets like the Athletic Echo, that idea as the April 23rd draft approaches, setting up Dallas for an even stronger attack that could, dominate next ball.
