Cowboys Zeroing in on Keionte Scott for Nickel Role

On March 26, the Dallas Cowboys have openly said they underestimated how much former

Nickel Cornerback Jordan Lewis meant to their defense.

Last season without him, they allowed more passing yards than any team in the league, exposing

a big gap at that spot.

Now, with head coach Brian Shottenheimer and new defensive coordinator Christian Parker

in place, filling the Nickel Roll tops their list for the upcoming draft.

They're zeroing in on Miami Cornerback Chiante Scott, who's on an official 30 visit

at the team's facility in Frisco today.

Scott, a 24-year-old standout, impressed at his pro day this week with Cowboys' brass

on hand.

He ran an unofficial 4.25 in the 40-yard dash, boosting his draft stock from the mid-50s

to possible first-round territory.

His path started at Snow Community College in Utah, then three years at Auburn, and

a strong finish at Miami, including defensive MVP honors in the Cotton Bowl win over a

Ohio State at AT&T Stadium.

This draft class is deep at Cornerback, with names like those from LSU, Clemson, and Tennessee

often linked to Dallas and Mox.

Scott fits as a Nickel option at pick number 12 or number 20, or even in a trade-back scenario,

as the team keeps digging deeper on prospects.
