Crosby Becomes Penguins All Time Points Leader & the Sabres Stay Red Hot

We start the show with another Monday edition of Man of the Weekend. It was a milestone evening last night in Pittsburgh as Sidney Crosby got two points against the Montréal Canadiens to surpass Penguins legend Mario Lemieux as the franchise’s leading scorer. Edmonton Oilers’ captain Connor McDavid is on an insane heater right now with 26 points through 11 games this month with 12 goals and three 4-point games.

Next, we look at the streaking Sabres and the falling Leafs in this edition of Hot & Cold. The Buffalo Sabres find themselves on a six-game win streak sitting just 3 points out of a playoff spot. It’s trouble in Leaf Land though as the Toronto Maple Leafs have dropped three straight and sit six points out of a playoff spot and second last in the Eastern Conference. Is it a change in script for the border rivals this season?

The trade market is heating up and there were some prominent names on the move this weekend with two trades going down. Phillip Danault returns to Montréal as the Canadiens acquire the veteran center to shore up their center depth sending a second-round pick to Los Angeles. Mason Marchment was also on the move, as the forward was rumoured to many teams, including a reunion in Dallas, before being sent to Columbus, with a second and fourth round pick heading to Seattle.
