Crumlin Road Gaol: Echoes Behind Bars
About this episode
Behind the black basalt walls of Crumlin Road Gaol in Belfast, Northern Ireland, 150 years of history refuses to stay buried.
Once the county gaol for Antrim, "the Crum" as it was known is Northern Ireland's only remaining Victorian-era prison. It operated from 1845 until its closure in 1996. It imprisoned thousands, including suffragettes, murderers, and political rebels, and now functions as a popular museum and visitor attraction.
In this episode, Nadine Bailey sits down with general manager Bobby Blair inside one of Belfast’s most haunted buildings.
