Cryptids Around the Campfire: Werewolf, Bigfoot, Chupacabra & Wendigo | Halloween Marathon

Seven Terrifying & True investigations gather werewolves, Bigfoot, Chupacabra, the Fouke Monster, Black-Eyed Children, Indrid Cold, and the Wendigo for a Halloween cryptid marathon.

The journey begins in Defiance, Ohio, where railroad workers and residents reported a wolf-like figure in 1972. It then enters the modern legend of Black-Eyed Children asking to be invited inside and the Arkansas swamps around Fouke, where sightings of a large, hair-covered creature helped create the Fouke Monster’s national reputation.

Ohio’s Grassman brings the search to Salt Fork State Park through tracks, howls, and disputed Bigfoot evidence. Chupacabra shifts from a spined creature reported in 1990s Puerto Rico to hairless canine sightings on the U.S. mainland. Near Point Pleasant, West Virginia, Woodrow Derenberger’s encounter with the grinning Indrid Cold connects UFO lore, Men in Black stories, and the wider paranormal atmosphere surrounding Mothman.

The final investigation approaches the Wendigo through Algonquian traditions, later fiction, and the danger of reducing a culturally specific being to a generic cryptid. Across the marathon, reported encounters, regional folklore, hoaxes, misidentifications, and unresolved evidence remain distinct.
