CRYSTAL BALL: Miami Hurricanes Tipped to SNAG Israel Abrams, Pushing for DJ Jacobs FLIP

Before we get to that, possible flip targets, how about this hint that was dropped by Miami

football GM Dennis Smith?

Does that mean multiple flips?

He's got two spatulas in the graphic.

Does that mean two flips this weekend?

There are some flip candidates.

Does that mean one flip is going to be so massive that it's worth two spatulas?

I've got my U spatula ready to go for this weekend, and there's a new Crystal Ball prediction

for Miami.

Nobody better to talk about all of this with than good friend of the show.

We call him the Recruiting Overlord.

He's the host of the portal podcast here on the Lockdown Network, Brian Smith.

Brian late night last night, Steve Wiltfong from rivals on three, dropped a prediction for

Miami to land four star quarterback Israel Abrams out of Monteney, Catholic and Arlington

Heights, Illinois.

I've been doing some deep dives on this player for the past week or so.

He visited Miami earlier this week.

I love what I see.

What do you see in quarterback Izzy Abrams?

For Miami fans to use a comparison cam lord style, he makes a lot of plays outside the

pocket.

He's very, I don't want to say intentionally flamboyant, but like the way he plays is a

bit flippant.

He makes guys look stupid.

When they think they've got a sack, he waits to the very last moment and will spin off

or push him down.

Sometimes he still throws it, but he's almost more dangerous when he runs because he gets

guys out of position so well, he could probably play like World Division I receivers.

These are really good athletes.

Now I'm not saying he has the same arm strength and he's a Chicago kids.

Maybe this is why I'm making the comparison.

There's a certain quarterback with the Chicago Bears.

He also is similar in style.

He doesn't have the same like the arm strength Williams is absolutely insane, but it's the

same style of player there too.

So he's got suitors across the country and his list has been bizarre from day one.

Purdue has been perceived as one of the leaders.

Whoa.

Hey, I just report the news.

We'll talk about this the other day.

He's like, I had him in the top two for a long time and I'm like, I don't see for 25

years.

He doesn't make stuff up.

No.

Okay.

That's, that's, that's a sign, but the Miami visit, I mean, I read the quotes and stuff

that Gabby did, et cetera, like it's obvious that they moved the needle.

Yeah.

I mean, he doesn't seem to be worried about anything and he's very confident in his

talent.

If you watch the way he plays, he's not worried about the guys in front.

It's just who he is.

Yeah.

Now, I mean, if Miami gets him, this is a way you secure another top five class right

here.

You get a port back that's one of the top five QBs in the country and they've got a little

history now with some of these Chicago kids like Lightfoot, you know, that's just, you

know, they're continuing to recruit just Scott.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

I mean, you got probably two year D on starters.

They got some other kids historically.

This is, this is a great sign for Miami because I thought it was going to, I know you talked

about it too, it's going to be harder to get a quarterback.

Well, it takes one kid to say, yes, but didn't really expect a five star kind of kid.

I didn't.

I don't know what you thought, but like, hey, I've said it, but before I'll say it again,

there may not be a better overall recruiting operation than Miami in terms of scouting, you

know, that I'm sure you saw the, the crystal ball quote the other day when he was depot him

talking about their eyes are always red because they're watching film for the portal.

It's the same thing with recruiting.

They evaluate.

They're all working hats off to them.

Good, good endorsement for Israel Abrams.

And if again, there's a crystal ball prediction for him to land at Miami.

And if you stack quarterbacks like that out of high school for everyone wondering like,

hey, when's Miami going to stop taking transfer quarterbacks?

You start putting guys like that in your quarterback room.

You're not going to have to dip into the portal as often.

And so it's been a busy quarterback week for Miami.

Like I had a feeling that they were really accelerating to try and land a quarterback

because not only did Abrams visit Peter Bork also visited this week.

And on that pool party guest list will men's soul and Daven Davidson.

So four quarterbacks in one week, how does how does Abrams compare with those other three

that Miami's been courting this week?

I'll start with Bork.

I saw him live about a month ago, got to meet him big pocket pass or he can move a little

bit.

But he's got big arm.

He's Miami 1980s, five to 2000, like traditional pocket quarterback looking to throw it.

Men's soul is similar to Abrams in that he makes a lot of weird plays like you didn't

see that coming.

He's better when he's under arrest than when he's sitting clean in the pocket.

It's wild.

Very good RPO quarterback.

Matter of fact, on three has him number one.

I wouldn't rank him that high, but he is incredible at improvising.

He's staring at Coleman like in that style.

I think Coleman's more talented, but the same kind of deal.

And then at the top of the board there for some people is Daven.

He's a local kid too.

He's Sarasota.

So that means some six, five, six, six, want to stay championship of carbomoonie.

He can move around and throw, but like the frame, you look at him and he say, okay, I get

it.

He's mobile enough.

Any of those four, if you're Miami, you'd be like, yeah, we're good.

I have no idea what their pecking order is.

But if you're bringing those guys in, you're going big game hunting.

And again, it's about the recruiting operation, that's an easy task to get even two of those

kids down because they can go wherever they want pretty much any week.

That's off to everybody at the University of Miami.

All right.

Let's talk about possible flips because again, there, there are hints being dropped out

of coral gables and okay, if Miami is going to pull off a seismic flip this weekend or

in the near future, I hope it's DJ Jacobs.

Top edge Russia currently committed to Ohio State five star, but there's a backstory

because back in December, when Jacobs offered his initial verbal commitment, Miami was the

trending favorite that week.

And then he surprised a lot of people, including possibly members of his own family by picking

Ohio State that week, which was a few days before Miami beat Ohio State in the cotton bowl.

So this has been a weird tug of war between Miami and Ohio State.

And again, I can't say for sure if DJ Jacobs is the flip, but he seems like a strong candidate.

Miami already has the relationship.

I know Jason Taylor has been working really hard on this one.

And he didn't give up after Jacobs picked Ohio State.

We're looking Brian at this player from Blessed Trinity Catholic in Georgia, six foot five

two hundred thirty five pounds.

He's the top edge Russia in the entire class and could be anywhere between the top player

to the number four player nationally, depending on where you look.

What can you tell us about DJ Jacobs?

I had a chance to meet DJ at the Atlanta Under Armour Camp.

He didn't participate, but he went there.

His brother a year younger as a kid, Miami, and everybody's going to go off for two.

He's an interior lineman DJ walking like this walking up to is a super nice kid walking

up to you.

You didn't see the face.

You would say how many years have you been in the National Football League?

Like he just looks like an ugly, not just advanced, but it's a little bit ridiculous.

Like it's off to screen.

And I'm it went under armor.

We always say it every year like the people that run it and all that.

It's probably the most important for them because of all the linemen and he still looked

different than everybody else.

And then I mean like he's in my opinion that I'm more a player in the class because it's

just hard to find past rushers.

I don't think there's a definitive number one quarterback or Abrams and some of those

guys are all in that conversation, but there's no doubt which at the end I would take.

So I mean, he's the kind of guy like his miles get like in the terms of like the frame

this looks different and he's still in high school.

So I didn't really get into the recruiting stuff with him or a bunch of people around,

but I knew Miami was going to make another run.

Maybe they up to their Annie because Ohio State trumped them on the offer and they went

way above Miami the first time.

I don't know if that's happening again.

Who knows?

But this is a plug and play guy.

He's going to come take somebody's job.

Yeah.

Worst case scenario as a freshman, even at Miami, which is pretty deep at the end obviously.

He's going to be second to he's going to take somebody's job.

You cannot teach the physical God given ability.

Something people who are active on social media have noticed that there have been a lot

of social media skirmishes lately between Miami and Ohio state fans.

If this DJ Jacobs flip happens, get your popcorn ready.

There's going to be some entertaining battles on the timeline.

But when we come back, I want to talk about another possible flip candidate here.

you know, Mice and Johnson cook one of my favorite players.

The running back out of East St. Louis, Illinois is going to be visiting.

So Brian, when I'm looking at possible flip candidates for this weekend, because again,

the hints are out there that Miami has the the spatula is out and they're ready to flip

some burgers, aka recruits.

In addition to DJ Jacobs, another kind of compelling possibility and it's another edge

russure who we know Miami recruits edge rushers very well is Jaden Bryant, who's a verbal

commit right now to LSU, who's visiting this week and you think there could be any

movement there?

Or is he pretty well locked into Lane Kiffin?

It's an interesting recruitment because he's from Columbia, South Carolina.

Of course, if you know any geography, that's where the inverse South Carolina is at.

So they're obviously doing a terrible job at recruitment.

You can now get kids like that that are top 20 in the nation, walk out of your seat.

That is awful.

And he's been committed to LSU for a minute.

So I'm guessing that this is a scenario where Miami's just they've done this since Mario

got there.

Very patient.

Very consistent.

They're getting them on campus.

They're trending.

Now, I'm not saying LSU is not a good program or anything else, but they're rebuilding.

We have no idea.

Miami's the safer pick.

Maybe that's what he likes.

Maybe it's the staff.

But nothing with Miami surprises me and they put a premium on alignment as much as anybody

in the country.

So I imagine literally they're putting their money where their mouth is to not that you're

going to out bid LSU.

They got plenty of cash if you follow their off season.

This is going to be an interesting one because LSU needs DN's more than Miami does.

I wonder if this is going to be a bidding war kind of deal.

And I mean, it could be, but right now he's trending and this is a powerful thick guy that

did really well.

The under armor game.

He's somebody that everybody wanted.

I mean, Miami's just done their due diligence like nothing shocks me there, though.

Like I'm not saying he's Rubin Bain, but he's like that like a power guy on the edge that

can get to the quarterback.

So he fits the motor what the Canes are looking for.

So I'm not surprised we're going all in.

Now, I know you've had a chance to look at the guest list for the pool party event at

Christopher Ball's house and there's I got I lost count of how many there's like 35

or so players expected and you noted to me there's a lot of overlap with, you know, players

that are heavily recruited from other schools like what and who stands out to you most about

that guest list aside from the players we talked about.

One of the kids that I want to talk about and there's two from the school, not surprisingly,

is IMG Eric McFarland.

I don't know how to define him.

He's a kid that was like sub four four is like a freshman in high school, super athletic,

just incredible slot.

Some people thought he was the best pure football player, IMG when he was a freshman.

He will be on campus.

I don't know where he's going.

He grew up in LSU fan, but his list is all over the place.

Watch out for him because they're going to pitch him.

You can be the next mile guy because he's a pure slot, electric football, but great kid too.

The kid, I don't know if we've talked about this a man much on the show.

I was told Miami is the team to watch.

We know how much Miami likes not big off into tackles, but the biggest.

I don't want you to see this kid play live last year, but Joshua, Sam, a pal.

Yes.

I like him.

We cow when he walked out on the field, I went.

That kid said high school.

He was six, eight, six, nine, three, thirty, I don't know, something like that.

And he can move kids like that usually don't leave the state of Georgia.

Kirby has it on lock.

Yeah.

I was told Miami's trend.

I know one of his teammates and I'm like, okay, that would be wild because it's hard to

get off into tackles away from UGA.

They do just as good a job as Miami and it's an in-state kid for them because he lives

on the west side of Atlanta, but that's going to be a battle.

He can go to any school he wants and he's just your monk as he plays at Douglas County.

Kind of going down the west, another kid from Georgia.

Miami has done a good job at receiver, but they need more big body guys.

Guys make more contested catches.

Watch out for Upshaw.

Jaden Upshaw is really good.

And he's cousins with Dailin who's on the team already at Miami.

He's at Lee County.

They're not that far apart.

Lee County is central Georgia.

Upshaw played at Phoenix City Central.

Yeah.

Oh, they're like an hour and a half apart.

I'm not surprised.

That wouldn't surprise.

And he's man, he's really, really good.

Every school pretty much in the country wants him.

Marcus Fockertoo, the defense event for L.A., Ohio State, Notre Dame, Michigan, U.S.C.

He's a kid when I saw him as a freshman.

I thought this kid has a chance to be the normal one player in a country.

He's a five star D.N.

He's kind of a unique player.

He's six, seven.

I don't know where he's going to end up inside or outside, but he's a power kid.

Super, super young man.

Miami has a chance to make some news.

Most people think it's Notre Dame for one of the Midwest schools,

but maybe he has a great visit.

Again, I don't know if it'll end up a tackle or end, but he's tremendous.

And then there's just, in general, looking at the list, there's so many kids that I thought,

well, this kid's going to go there or he's going to go there.

Montana Toil, another kid from L.A., maybe think he's going to Notre Dame.

Well, he's visiting Miami this weekend.

He's a modern day kid, detackle.

And then the other kid that was, yeah, Joshua would dobs him.

Maybe the best corner.

He's dead.

Yeah, he's so good.

I've lost track of where he's going.

His recruitment's hard to follow.

Auburn, South Carolina, you know, Miami, Florida, everybody's after him.

I'm curious to see where that one goes.

He intersects with everybody.

He might be the best pure man corner in this class.

We'll see.

And then a name some kids, you may or may not know quite as much.

Junior James, he plays at Thompson.

If you're from Birmingham, they magically end up at that school.

It's kind of like STA or something.

He's a six three kid that's played corner this spring,

but he thinks he's going to end up at safety in college.

Miami's one of the schools he's really high on.

That would be a nice get.

And then finally, just kind of going down the list

and there's so many kids to pick from.

Jackson Dollar, tight end, very athletic.

He's a Cooper, super, super athletic.

Like he can take three steps and dunk for mid-core kind of thing.

Like he could fly, flex tight end.

Is it Georgia, is it Notre Dame, is it Miami, et cetera?

You're getting these marquee matchups

in every position that Miami has?

They're all over.

They don't care what position is.

They don't care what state it is.

They're bringing in four and five star kids in every spot.

And that's astounding and a great recap of everything

that's going on.

I'm a recap.

It hasn't happened yet, but a great preview

of this Mario Cristobal pool party coming up.

Now the other thing, I know when you looked at Miami's football

schedule coming up, it made an impression on you.

Obviously, we all know the biggest game

in one of the biggest games in season period.

It's going to be November 7th against Notre Dame.

Outside of that, it's not the toughest schedule

on paper that Miami has ever played.

How do you think the hurricanes with their talent level

should be able to navigate through their 2026 football schedule?

I don't think it's difficult at all.

I mean, Texas Tech has the easiest schedule in the country.

If you want comedy today, that's a joke.

But outside of them, Miami might have the easiest path

of anybody, because you're going to play somebody on the road.

They play Notre Dame on the road.

OK, that's November.

But outside of that, it's Clemson really Clemson right now,

because from the one contact that I spoke to at Clemson,

like going into spring, they had no idea

the quarterback was going to be.

That's not a warm and comfy place to start.

You're Clemson.

And I also heard that the young freshman,

I like him, take Reynolds, is pushing for, like,

out of my go, boy, if you got a true freshman that's pushing

the red shirt junior to be at quarterback that makes me nervous,

they lost a bunch of their offensive linemen.

They were junior and senior driven.

Running back is Gideon Davidson.

He's a talented player, but he's a sophomore.

They are much depth.

They do have good receivers.

They're really good there.

Yeah, they do.

They lost a couple good D-Lime into the draft.

I don't think Clemson is that team.

I wouldn't be surprised if Miami

bounced them by two or three touchdowns.

I really wouldn't.

And they don't play SMU in the regular season.

I'm calling that out straight up the ACC did that

because they think they're the top two teams.

They're trying to get a medal.

Right up.

Yeah.

And it's the same thing, the big 12 did,

BYU doesn't play Texas staff.

Yeah, I noticed that.

Is that coincidence?

Come on.

Nope.

It's not.

I get it, but it still sucks for us during the regular season.

I want to see Miami play SMU.

Especially after SMU upset them last year.

Miami would probably like to play them.

I would like to play them again.

And it would have been at home this year.

So I would have loved it.

Right.

Absolutely.

But I digress.

The point is still the same.

Think about the ACC.

Regardless of who you would have put on this one.

Yeah, SMU.

I think they're going to be pretty good.

Right.

Well, actually former Miami.

Very good.

We go.

We don't know exactly what's going to have a quarterback.

Four to state.

I'll talk about that in a second.

That's a potential disaster.

And then like the Carolina schools or any of them going to be good

because while NC State is going to score,

their defense is going to be horrific.

Our pal Kitten Gibbs even admits that.

The defense of line for NC State.

That's not a good sign.

Virginia Tech.

You're one James.

Frank one.

BC.

Their win total is three and a half.

Oh, yeah.

It's become an embarrassment of a program there.

BC basketball football.

They're not good at anything.

Maybe they're good at like field hockey.

I don't follow that.

Yeah.

Good for them.

Okay.

We'll not be potting about that anytime soon.

Virginia.

They lost a quarterback.

Like there's nothing in the ACC that makes me think.

That unless Miami SMU in the.

I'm guessing ACC title game should be regained.

Yeah.

But why should Miami have any ACC contest?

They don't win by double digits.

That's that's just my take on it.

And just as a bonus.

I know Miami fans like this.

I talked a little bit about this.

I'm on walked on.

Semitals.

The way the schedule falls for four to state.

They play Miami after they play Louisville on the road on Friday night.

That's probably not going to go well for four to state.

I'm calling that now.

Then they go down to hard rock.

But then after that they have a buy.

Miami's actually in my opinion going to help me a lot and a lot of fans for four to state.

There will be some four to state fans that hope that game is ugly.

So they have to fire Mike.

I think they were talking about it on the cover three podcasts.

How many games in does it get fire?

Like that was a segment.

Like that is that is bad.

So the league is so down in Miami's up there.

If they don't win the league this year.

I need to I need to have a full segment where I come in on your show and just make fun of Miami because there's no way.

They shouldn't just run rough shot over this week.

And I'm going to need therapy if they don't win the ACC.

You maybe you can recommend a good therapist after after you read me out on my show.

I'll go and lay on a couch somewhere and talk to a therapist.

What's not here for they got to take care of business.

This man is so much better than everybody else in the league.

Come on.

If you don't do it this year.

Yeah, this is the year.

Yeah, when would it be?
