Trump Axes Obama’s Endangerment Finding- During his two terms, Obama enacted several policies that subsidized uncompetitive, unneeded, and unwanted green energy while placing onerous regulations on fossil fuels. During his first term, Trump tried to reverse much of the Obama administration’s anti-fossil fuel actions.
- However, there was only so much that could be done given the constant distractions Trump faced throughout his first term.
- One of the most consequential environmental regulations that Trump was unable to eliminate was Obama’s “Endangerment Finding.”
- Most Americans have probably never heard of the Endangerment Finding. But this obscure rule has effectively allowed the federal government to label carbon dioxide a harmful “pollutant” that can be regulated under the Clean Air Act.
- Unfortunately, a U.S. Supreme Court decision allowed the Obama administration to enact the rule in the first place.
- In 2007, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in Massachusetts v. EPA that “greenhouse gases are air pollutants covered by the Clean Air Act and that EPA must determine whether or not emissions of greenhouse gases from new motor vehicles cause or contribute to air pollution which may reasonably be anticipated to endanger public health or welfare.”
- Although this is the standard reading of the ruling, it is not totally accurate. According to the majority opinion, written by former Justice John Paul Stevens, “We need not and do not reach the question whether on remand EPA must make an endangerment finding, or whether policy concerns can inform EPA’s actions in the event that it makes such a finding. We hold only that EPA must ground its reasons for action or inaction in the statute.”
- So, the 2007 decision did not determine that carbon dioxide is a harmful air pollutant. Rather, it granted that the EPA has the authority to determine if carbon dioxide is a harmful greenhouse gas based solely upon unequivocal data.
- Trump’s EPA Administrator, Lee Zeldin, has made rescinding the Endangerment Finding a priority.
- “A lot of people are out there listening, they might not know what the endangerment finding is. If you ask congressional Democrats to describe what it is, the left would say that it means that carbon dioxide is a pollutant, carbon dioxide is an endangerment to human health. They might say methane is a pollutant, methane is an endangerment to human health,” Zeldin said on the Ruthless podcast.
- “That’s an oversimplified, I would say inaccurate way to describe it,” Zeldin added. “The Obama administration said that carbon dioxide, when mixed with a bunch of other well-mixed gases, greenhouse gases, that it contributes to climate change. How much? They don’t say… they say that climate change engenders human health, so because of these different mental leaps… then there were all sorts of vehicle regulations that followed.”
- Zeldin said repealing the Endangerment Finding is like “basically driving a dagger into the heart of the climate change religion.” That is music to my ears.
- It is also great news for Americans.
- Climate alarmists and environmental zealots claim that carbon dioxide emissions must be eliminated no matter the cost.
- They are wrong. By denigrating CO2 and attempting to regulate it to death, they have harmed tens of millions of Americans with higher energy bills. Moreover, their silly belief that carbon dioxide is a harmful air pollutant has put the entire U.S. energy grid at risk.
- the Trump administration knows that natural gas and coal are vital to America’s future. With the Endangerment Finding on the chopping block, the United States is even better position to achieve energy dominance, which will pave the way to American AI supremacy.

FACT CHECK: Gov. Hochul Claims Concealed Carry Permit Allowed Manhattan Shooter to Have AR-15- VERDICT: False. Having a concealed carry permit centers on the carrying of handguns for self-defense, not rifles.
- Moreover, having a concealed carry permit does not allow a visitor to ignore the laws of a state to which they travel. The alleged Manhattan shooter had driven across the country to New York, and in New York there is a prohibition against guns which Democrats refer to as “assault weapons.”

FBI Allegedly in Possession of Epstein Jail Video With ‘Missing Minute’
- The FBI, the Bureau of Prisons, and the Department of Justice inspector general are all allegedly in possession of a copy of the now-infamous surveillance video from the Manhattan Metropolitan Correctional Center, where Jeffrey Epstein died in 2019, without the missing minute of footage.
- The claim comes amid a massive scandal regarding nearly 11 hours of footage released earlier this month by the Justice Department and FBI, which included a one-minute jump in the time code just before midnight on August 9-10, 2019.
- CBS News reported, citing an unnamed “government source,” that the agencies have video “that does not cut from just before 11:59 p.m. to midnight of the night Epstein died by suicide in his cell.”

YouTube to Get Australia Digital ID Age Checks by Year’s End, Plus New AI Profiling For US Users
- YouTube will soon be a gated community: no ID, no login.
- Australia is preparing to prohibit children under 16 from holding social media accounts by the end of the year, and YouTube will now be included among the platforms required to comply. This will require the roll out of digital ID checks.
- At the same time, in the United States, YouTube has begun deploying artificial intelligence tools that estimate users’ ages in an effort to impose teen-specific protections automatically, regardless of the birthdate users provide when signing up.
- This new system, based on machine learning, examines a range of user signals such as viewing history and account behavior to infer age. If a user is likely to be a teenager, YouTube will adjust their experience by turning off personalized advertising, activating screen time reminders, and limiting the repeated viewing of videos that may contribute to negative body image or social hostility.
- In cases where someone over 18 is misidentified, they will have the option to verify their age by submitting a government ID, credit card, or selfie. Only users who are confirmed adults or inferred to be over 18 will be permitted to view age-restricted material.

Cyberattack shuts down hundreds of Russian pharmacies, disrupts healthcare services
- Hundreds of pharmacies across Russia shut down this week after a cyberattack hit two of the country’s largest pharmacy chains, disrupting payments and access to medication reservations for patients.
- The Stolichki pharmacy chain, which operates about 1,000 stores across Russia confirmed that a technical failure that halted its operations on Tuesday was caused by a hack. As of Wednesday, Stolichki was still working to fully restore its services, with about half of its stores reopened.

Europe’s defence giant Naval Group hit with major breach, hackers claim
- Naval Group, France’s largest shipbuilder, has allegedly suffered a major hacker attack. Researchers believe that a data sample that attackers shared online contains real details. The company is heavily involved in the country’s defence sector.
- A threat actor announced the supposed Naval Group data breach on a popular data leak forum. According to the attackers, they have accessed combat management systems (CMS) used by France’s submarines and frigates.
- Interestingly, attackers don’t seem to be interested in selling the data, as data leak forum users often do. Instead, they’re looking to extort Naval Group by threatening to leak the data.

- Governor Tim Walz of Minnesota has activated the National Guard after a massive cyberattack targeted the city of St. Paul.
- In a press release the office of Tim Walz wrote, “We are committed to working alongside the City of Saint Paul to restore cybersecurity as quickly as possible.”
- “The Minnesota National Guard’s cyber forces will collaborate with city, state, and federal officials to resolve the situation and mitigate lasting impacts,” added the press release.
On the city of St. Paul’s government website, a warning reads, “The City of Saint Paul is actively responding to a digital security incident that is temporarily impacting access to some internal systems and online services. Our teams are working closely with local, state, and federal partners to resolve the situation and restore full functionality. ”

- FBI Director Kash Patel found thousands of Russia collusion hoax documents in “burn bags” in a secret room at the FBI, Fox News reported.

- In an explosive development in August 2022 following the FBI’s Mar-a-Lago raid, sources close to the high-profile investigation revealed that the FBI’s raid on Mar-a-Lago was explicitly aimed at recovering a “missing top-secret binder.”
- This document is rumored to contain damning evidence of former President Barack Obama’s CIA and FBI involvement in initiating the Russia collusion narrative against President Trump.
- The binder allegedly has intercepted transcripts made by the FBI on various Trump staff.
