America leads the world in medicine development. It matters. We get new medicines first nearly
three years faster. Five million Americans go to work because we make medicines here at home
and not relying on other countries keeps us safe. But China is racing to overtake us.
Will we let them or will we choose to stay ahead? When America leads, America cures.
Let's tell Washington to keep us in the lead.

Coming up on today's daily clone, Joshua Jefferson is a second team APL American will do a
Tennessee state deep dive in Taiman Lipsies. Love story with his wife Samantha, all of that after
a word from whiskey river. Looking for a good time? Thought so. Whiskey river is just the place.
We've got the booze, the food, the vibe and the amazing rooftop patio. The only thing missing is you.
Whiskey river. Welcome into the Northwest Bank Studios for the daily clone here on St. Patrick's Day,
presented by Whiskey River. Whiskey River has Guinness. They've got Jamison and you can get a taste
of the Emerald Isle here on this St. Patrick's Day. I'm wrapping my cyclones, Jamison shirt,
a little flashback to our trip to Ireland back in August. What a time that was. Go get a little
taste of Ireland at Whiskey River on your St. Patrick's Day. It's always a good time. Joshua
Jefferson is an AP second team all American. He is the first cyclone since George Nguyen to be
on a first, second or third team for the AP. He is Iowa state's 31st overall all American.
And it's the first time since 1988 that the cyclones have had three straight all Americans.
Last season Kurt Jones was honorable mention. And the year before Taiman Lipsie was also an
honorable mention. What a time it is to be a cyclone. There are four organizations that make up
the consensus all American. Jefferson was already a first teamer on the sporting news team.
Now with the second team AP he is two teams away from being Iowa state's first consensus all
American since George Nguyen won an accomplishment and what a well deserved honor. It is for Jefferson.
Jefferson will be leading the cyclones on Friday at 150 in St. Louis as they take on 15 seated

eight I'm gonna do a little analytics deep dive on Tennessee state so last time out they made
a lot of threes they chucked up 26 of them in the Ohio Valley championship against more head
state and made 16 but here's the thing Tennessee state has only made 10 plus threes three times the
season their one game against a high major opponent was Tennessee they just went five of 27 so they're
an okay three point shooting team on the season 33.7 percent that's about middle of the pack and
all of college basketball they're also middle of the pack and turnover rate they turn it over
on 16.5 percent of possessions they're not the most efficient team offensively just 50 percent
effective field goal percentage which essentially is how many threes are you making how many good layups
are you getting so overall they're a pretty good matchup for Iowa state when you talk about
strength on strength when you're talking Iowa state you worry about the teams that are going to
shoot and make a lot of threes which this team proved last week they're certainly capable of so
Iowa state just can't walk in there and expect to win but of all their field goal attempts only 30
percent of them come from the three point line so they're not heavily reliant on the three ball even
if they have proven that they can make some the thing that I'm looking at though is the difference
in size they are just not a massive team they are just the 250th tallest team in all of college
basketball so you look at their offensive rebound percentage which they're really good at you've
got to compare that to their level of competition you've got to compare that to the teams that they're
playing in the Ohio Valley I would expect Iowa state to be able to control the glass in this game
and if they do that you can survive an offshooting night and be okay that's the benefit of being a
two seat especially in this day and age in college basketball a lot would have to go wrong for Iowa
state to be in this game but you still got to show up and play the sport of basketball we have
seen some historic upsets in this sport Iowa state's been involved in some of them no one thought
they'd lose to Hampton as a two seed over 25 years ago and they did no one thought they'd lose to
UAB and they did so it comes down to Iowa state being the tougher team being the aggressive team and
overpowering the Tennessee state Tigers will get you all the way up to speed on game day on Friday
we'll arrive in St. Louis tomorrow so we'll talk to the team at the hotel and then we'll be in the
locker room and at practice on Thursday be sure to follow cyclone fanatic for all of that content
Taiman Lipsy's got a pretty cool story he dreamt his whole life of being a cyclone one day
and man his he's surpassed expectations Lipsy grew up with parents working at Iowa state
university he grew up idolizing Montaigne Morris nas long and now he's one of those guys that's
looked up to but he's not the only dreamer his wife Samantha Lipsy formerly Samantha Bernard
dreamt of one day changing her name to Lipsy both those dreams have come true. Taiman Lipsy is
known his whole life that he wanted to be a cyclone. Samantha Lipsy is known since high school
that she wanted to marry Tainan. We actually ended up going to an NBA game in Minneapolis
my dad had taken us and it was our first trip together and I just remember looking at him like
your everything I wanted and that was when we were like 17 I think so pretty young and then over
the years we both just we knew that's what we wanted it just was going to be for the long haul
like we we kind of grew up together Samantha's first memory of meeting Taiman when she was a
sophomore in high school and Taiman was a freshman wasn't exactly romantic. In geometry class I
was out for a few weeks of the concussion and I came back and the teacher had places next to each
other and I sat down and I looked at him and I was like did you miss me and he said no and I said
okay challenge accepted challenge accepted sound familiar most didn't think Taiman Lipsy would be
a four year starter at Iowa state now look at him when Samantha and Taiman met she knew he was a
basketball player but she didn't know just how good he was. So when we started dating I didn't
know he was as good as he was and then I think he went to a USA mini camp and I was looking into it
I was like okay he's good I thought he was like you know you have your star quarterback or star
point guard at a school and they're just the good for your school I didn't know that he was like
next level good like going to play in college and then maybe even beyond that I remember watching
him in high school and I was like oh wow this guy is he's good. Now six years later not only has
Samantha's last name changed it's changed to a name that will be in the Raptors at Hilton Coliseum
until the end of time. To just hear all the Hilton Coliseum chanting his name after one of his
plays I it's surreal like you don't you don't think that that would ever happen and then when it
does you're like kind of like you're in a dream I've always seen that potential in him I've always
known he was that good so at the same time it's like I get it your chanting his name like I want
to chant his name too let's do it. Through every big shot every injury every tough loss and every
big win higher low Samantha has been a steady presence to thank. Number one thing is just going
home the earth is a nice kind of settle down from basketball and when things get stressed out
always having her to rely on just spent time with her that's probably the best thing in my eyes
it's just knowing that it's it's bigger than basketball. It's so cool and the only way I can put it
into words is that he exceeds in everything that he does and I've thought I've thought that way
of him for a very long time and he just continues to prove me right like he goes above the expectation
he works hard he doesn't make excuses he shows up and he does his job and beyond and that's why I
told them maybe a year ago I was like you don't you don't need to worry about what you're doing
like you exceed in everything that you do and everyone is so proud of you I think it made a lot
to him to know that. As Taiman's chapter is a cyclone closes in the next month a new chapter will
begin Samantha buy his side and right behind the bench I love Ains I don't love the weather if I'm
being honest but I think I've always been someone who wants to you know do new things try new things
so it's just a journey that we're going to embark on together and we don't know what's ahead
of us and I think that's the exciting part about it is we don't really get to decide that
so we'll see where we land but yeah we're both really excited. Of course that journey doesn't end
yet as a calm Taiman chases dreams of a final four his wife will be in the stands a lot more
nervous than him. He's so even cute like if you ask him are you nervous about the game tonight
say no he's just like he's just there to play and he knows that the lords in charge and that he
can't change any the outcome and so he's just there to give it up his all and however I'm nervous
because I see his body flying around on the falling everywhere on the floor and I'm like I don't know
but he's it doesn't bother a pretty cool story right there on two people from Ames that are
living out their dream thank you for tuning into today's daily clone be sure to hit that
