Hey everyone, Jeffers and here with the Daily DLP.
I watched the wrong video to start it.
Sorry about that.
Welcome to the Daily DLP for 313 Day.
Happy Detroit Day.
Detroit Lions fans.
It is indeed March 13th, Friday the 13th.
Recording this little before noon and thus far we've seen no action from the Lions.
Since yesterday's signing of Christian Isian, which they did make final today.
And he is apparently talking to the media today that they didn't give us an exact time.
I don't know when that's going to happen, so I will not be there for that.
But it's been quiet.
Real quiet.
That's getting a lot of people's nerves and bugging me too.
So I thought after last night's live show and thank you for everybody for tuning in
and being interactive with it, I appreciate that.
It was a good time.
A lot of good back and forth.
Good fair criticism points towards Brad Holmes definitely levied.
I wanted to go today and look at some of the best available free agents
at the Lions positions of need.
And what I did, I looked up.
I have CBS, they're 20, they're top NFL free agency rankings of guys still available.
I was broken up by position.
I have PFFs and I have what's that one?
Oh, NFL.
Okay.
Got them all.
All right.
So the unsigned guys.
Let's start at edge where we all agree the Lions need something.
Even a warm body at this point and that's sort of what's left.
So the top guy left Joey Bosa.
I'm going to read to you what CBS says about him because I think this is very fitting.
Joey Bosa is not the same past rushing in all that he once was and injuries are to blame.
Let's see.
There is a team out there that will bring him in with the hopes that he stays healthy,
but it will do so at a lower price than what Bosa is accustomed to.
So basically they're telling you and the other one.
Bosa is 31 with a body of a 41 year old.
It's not the same Joey Bosa that y'all think he is.
You got to keep that in mind and like off injured aging players on the decline.
Is that what we're trying to avoid?
Like I thought that's the kind of player we didn't want another Marcus Davenport.
Got it.
Hope he doesn't come back Brad for the love of God Brad.
Don't break that Marcus Davenport back.
Don't really explode.
I don't blame him either.
I might too.
That ship needs to sail.
So not exactly warm endorsements of Joey Bosa from the people who are touting him as the best available defensive end.
Like that's.
And again, he's like if they wanted to keep an aging guy who's you know,
battle some injuries and you know has decent production for when he's on.
They could have kept alchemy Muhammad.
They didn't want him.
He's in Tampa now.
Still haven't heard if the Lions offered him.
And if they did what that offer was, but I'm sure that will come out in the coming days.
As he gets down to Tampa, I believe they're introducing him today at a press conference in Tampa.
That might be worth watching if you're a Lions fan.
The other name's out there.
Clayis Campbell.
Yeah, he's still around 39 years old.
Has it missed a game in several years?
He's still quality.
Like decent player fits the scheme.
Crush the can.
Put him in ringhorn mode.
I'm all for that at the right price.
He's made his money.
He's had three big contracts.
Be in my estimation anyways.
He's fine.
One year stop gap.
Ringhorn.
Hell yeah.
Devin clownies and other one.
I have been on record as saying that I don't think that he is a great cultural personality fit with the Lions.
I'll stand by that.
But at this point, you can do a lot worse.
And he is a reliable player.
He is not a guy who's going to generate a lot of pressure.
Especially quickly.
One of the things that we want to do with the Lions.
At least what I want.
And I think what most fans feedback has been.
Is we get pressure, but we don't get it quickly or quickly enough.
That's never been what clownies about.
But it's not what both is about either.
Now that he's lost his burst.
Why don't the Ebacetti would have been nice.
He's not there.
That's what I would have been much more on board with.
But you know, Von Miller at the very end of his career.
Cam Jordan comes up in everything.
He's in the top four, top five in all of these.
He's still my favorite of all this group.
I'd be very happy with one year of Cam Jordan and Ringhorn mode.
I'm all for that.
Price has to be right.
But he's a guy that really all these guys.
Honestly, have played enough football and enough systems
that you don't have to worry about getting them in right away.
And if they're just waiting for the price and the price doesn't come.
You can get these guys later.
Like you don't have to sign these guys immediately.
And I hope.
Hope.
That's what's happening.
Don't know that's what's happening, but I hope that's what's happening.
Again, not exactly like shining endorsements or difference
making players available there to play opposite Aiden Hutchinson.
Why I still think one of their first two picks is going to be an edge.
Doesn't mean they should be done there, though.
They still need more.
The Josh Pasco experiment has mercifully ended.
Again, law of Pasco, the man.
Loved that the football playing prospect he was,
but we've never gotten to see that in Detroit.
And for other than just a very brief glimpse between all the injuries.
America leads the world in medicine development.
It matters.
We get new medicines first nearly three years faster.
Five million Americans go to work because we make medicines here at home.
And not relying on other countries keeps us safe.
But China is racing to overtake us.
Will we let them or will we choose to stay ahead?

That was fun.
Coaching your six graders soccer team.
Double girls.
And carrying all the groceries in one trip.
Try Quaker Protein Instant oatmeal, granola, and bars.
Great taste and a good source of protein.
Quaker, bring out the good.
Disappointing.
Much in the way that John Kaminsky was like a fantastic fit
for the half season that he was healthy early on.
And then he got hurt and just wasn't the same.
Didn't work out.
Right now, I'm at Hassanine.
Makai Wingo who doesn't really fit a scheme.
That's your edges.
You can play Levi out there if you want to.
Trusting that he's healthy.
I can't say that with a straight face.
Sorry.
Hoping for it.
Fingers crossed.
But I'm going to need more than fingers crossed at edge.
So I think I think that's going to be your draft because they're just again.
You got a one year placeholder here and that's fine.
Like I'd be satisfied with that with any of them really.
Although Bolsa would probably be actually at the bottom of my list.
Just because I.
I'm tired of the guys who are like, well, if he's healthy.
I'm tired of that.
Y'all don't want that anymore.
I think most of you are like that too.
That's what you're getting with joy, Bolsa.
So I don't want to like rain on that parade or anything.
But just understand that that's who he is these days.
This is not the former.
The guy that was terrorizing as an all pro a few years ago.
Just not who he is.
So.
Clowny be fun.
He'd be fine.
He's not he's not a troublemaker.
Want to make make that clear.
He's not a feather ruffler or anything like that.
He's just not a guy who.
My experience with him, especially when he was in Houston.
Well, see, he wasn't a guy who got all that upset by not winning.
And I don't think that's great.
Maybe now that he's later his career, he won't be played fairly well last year.
Let's go to linebacker where right now Rodrigo is our beef or LB3.
I just want to call it RB.
I don't know why.
LB3 and with Grant Stewart going away.
By the way, for a lot more money than any lion stand would have ever been happy paying him.
I don't meant that one.
You shouldn't either.
The Rams overpaid for a special team specialist who quite frankly wasn't all that great on special teams last year.
He had his moments.
Had somewhere he ran past the point of attack a little bit.
Had somewhere he didn't block super well.
I'm good with letting him go.
That's fine.
He wasn't going to play on the defense.
But your number four linebacker right now is Trevor Nulaski.
I would love to get another experienced guy in and also draft a coverage-oriented linebacker on day three.
Jane Dugger, someone like that.
There's a few of them out there.
There are a couple of free agents that do fit that bill who shouldn't come too expensive.
Bobby Ocariki for a cult, for a giant.
Good in coverage.
He is a miserable run defender and has been for some time.
But there might not be a better linebacker at rushing the passer and getting his hands up in the air in the passing lanes when he doesn't get to the quarterback.
He's freakishly good at that.
I know it seems like a limit.
It's legit impressive.
It goes back to his days of Stanford.
He was really good at it there too.
He can blitz them too.
Probably wouldn't cost a whole lot.
And he can fill that Alex Anzolone role in coverage.
Anzol is a better tackler.
Probably a better like all around linebacker.
Again, I talked about this in the daily last night.
I want to dissuade.
Calvin Shepard from playing three linebackers as much as possible.
I'd much rather run a 4-2-5 or a 5-2.
I want less 4-3.
I don't want the Lions to be in a straight 4-3 more than any other team again.
With Anzolone leaving, you've got the opportunity to make a schematic change and adjustment.
Much like he did it running back with David Montgomery.
You don't want the high-priced, high-volume-seeking number 2 running back.
You don't need that.
You don't want that.
You're transitioning to Gibbs being more of the show and getting away from splitting the carries as much.
But then he also brought in Isaiah Pacheco who can do the power running that Monty could.
Not to the same extent, although when he was healthy he actually did.
Incredible short yardage back.
Good and pass pro catches the ball for 25% of the price tag.
I'll take that trade off.
That's an adjustment that they've made to acquiesce to the financial realities that they're in.
I would like for them to do that linebacker as well and instead load up on adding a hybrid linebacker safety.
Or Bobby Ocariki.
Jermaine Pratt is another one, former Bengal.
He's bounced around a bit.
I think he's been on three teams in the last two years and this coming year will be the fourth in three years.
But he's also a guy who can cover.
Has some range.
Again, he's not to Anzolone's level, but as a more part-time player.
I'd be fine with him if the price is right.
Don't want to overpay for him.
You do get in the danger of overpaying role players.
That's trust me.
I covered the Cleveland Browns for a while.
They did a lot of that.
Still paying for it.
Offensive tackle.
Number one name if it's not Taylor Decker.
And I don't see any way where Taylor Decker's coming back.
Just I think I think the pride is too great there.
Is Rashid Walker from the Packers.
Good pass protector.
Solid there.
Looked up his PFF run blocking stats and like PFF it is what it is, but when they're.
When you're when you're going over the players and like the relative grades like that's pretty consistent.
You know, Penae being the number one run blocker.
Well, in the last two years Rashid Walker has ranked 45th amongst offensive tackles at run blocking.
This is people that have played at least half the snaps at tackle.
He's been 45th both years in 2025.
There were 47 qualifying tackles in 2024.
There were 46.
So he is like bottom of the barrel run blocking.
And where do the Lions want to get better?
Run blocking.
It's important.
This is a run based theme.
A play action based offense.
It's for Jared Goffsett is best.

He's going to get overpaid.
And I don't want it to be Detroit.
I know there's a hole there.
I'm not excited about Larry Borum.
I'm going to try to keep an open mind.
But it's very difficult for me to ignore the fact that he was the Hutch Rule last summer.
Like, that's why they instituted it because he couldn't do anything at all.
But, you know, he's back in Detroit.
He's got a fresh start.
He's got much better coaching.
One of the other things that I learned last year in the joint practice was that Mike McDaniel is a rotten coach.
Doesn't interact with his players whatsoever.
Obsessed with Ben Raven, Nick Bungard, and I standing in front of the play clock in the end zone.
It's been 15 minutes trying to get us to move instead of watching this team play.
Come on, dude.
Still glad we dodged that bullet.
They could not have made a worse offensive coordinator higher.
Even if they brought John Morton back.
I will absolutely stick to that position.
Could not have been a worse idea than Mike McDaniel in Detroit.
Oh my God.
No.
Just no.
But that's your offensive tackle.
You'll go, Cam Robinson.
We've known for years he can't play.
J1 Taylor, Mr. I've got a line up illegally if I have to pass block anyone.
Like, that's who's left, guys.
You're going to be excited to pay that guy $6 million a year.
Really?
I talked about it in the live show on Thursday.
And I absolutely believe this.
Mistake avoidance is critical in free agency.
Even if it's a one year deal for J1 Taylor, you're paying him more than the vet minimum.
You're paying him too much.
Not worth it.
I'd rather roll my dice with Larry Boram who got $5 million to be a backup.
Don't think that an established starter like Taylor or Robinson or Decker for that matter.
Walker certainly is going to settle for less than that.
And that's money that I'd rather have spent elsewhere.
Use your first round, second round pick, first round pick.
Offensive tackle is where I'm leanin's where I'd love them to go.
This low move or fauna or Miller, a he-necker, I'm good there.
Like, I like all those guys.
Like all those guys in 2026, more than I like any of these guys who are available right now.
That includes Decker coming back, which would be a stunning development.
Safety's.
Let's look at the safety's.
Donovan Wilson.
Okay.
I'm interested.
Geno Stone.
Russ Brown and I in our frequent text exchanges that we have amongst one another.
We've talked about him.
Like, these are guys who are better as your number three safety when everybody's healthy.
And that would be the case in Detroit if everybody's healthy.
The one, I don't want to call it a complicating factor, but the one thing to consider here.
Is that both of those guys play the exact same role that they drafted Dan Jackson for a year.
And on Jackson seventh round pick got hurt.
Mrs. Rookie season.
It's understandable to have very low expectations for that.
And I do.
I hope I'm hopeful that he's healthy enough to make the team and compete on special teams.
And maybe get in as a sub package defender.
Like, because he's small.
Well, he's short, not small.
There's.
There are times when he can be useful and there are times when he isn't going to be so useful in the field.
But he deserves a shot.
But I wouldn't, I wouldn't be opposed to those guys.
You're real peppers.
Covered him before.
He can play the heavy slot role.
The problem is is that his coverage isn't close to where Brian branches is.
It just isn't.
I like to brill a lot.
Good dude, too.
Would fit in the locker nicely.
So there are options there.
These are guys, though, that you don't want to overpay.
Andre Sisko, another one.
Like, okay.
Like, I'd be fine with that.
As long as the price is right.
So there's, there's some realistic help there available.
It's interesting that that seems to be the market of all the positions.
That really hasn't been tapped into a lot.
I know.
I know.
Bears fans basically kicking him on all these down on the way out.
And his history of concussions.
He's had three of them since he got in the NFL.
Again, I'm so tired of the injuries and worrying about well,
if this guy's healthy, he'll be like, I'm tired of that.
I don't want that anymore.
Sorry, I'm fatigued.
I like to remember.
Jacob on brisker was the barest leading sack guy in 2012 was a 2023.
Like, he led the team in sex.
I have a bet football team when your safety leads a demon sack.
Like, he's a good player.
I like him coming out of Penn State, but.
I'm tired of the injury risk guys.
If you can stay in Miami, please.
The good decision.
I'll let that one go.
You know, like.
And just I talked about it.
Talk about it in the radio this week as well.
Going into the draft.
I am so out on guys with long injury histories.
Your modem, McCoy, Jordan Tyson.
Trying to think that there's a line that's out there that's heard of.
Isaiah World is an example.
He's going to miss his rookie season more than likely.
Like, I can miss that.
I'm good.
Let's somebody else do that.
You sign into a second contract if you want him.
Really, really hope that Brad has gotten the message.
No more chronically injured guys.
Or no more guys where we're worried that.
You know, well, if he's health.
Nope.
Stop.
Full stop.
End your sentence.
Stop talking right there.
This Friday.
The time traveling comedy movie of the year arrives.
Mike and Nick and Nick and Alice only on Hulu.
The film stars Vince Vaughn, James Morrison, and Ace of Gonzalez.
And a wild action comedy about one disastrous night that spirals out of control.
And here's the twist.
There are two Vince Vaughn's.
Don't miss Mike and Nick and Nick and Alice.
Written and directed by Ben David Grubinsky.
Streaming this Friday.
Only on Hulu.
Rated R.
Didn't talk about any guys that are available for trade because I.
I don't know.
Presumably.
They're still on their current team.
And.
If they would have made a deal, I think it will be undraft weekend.
You don't really have a lot of deals between now and then because you're waiting to see what you got.
I do have a prospect of the day today.
One that I.
I like him.
I don't love him.
I'll bring him up here.
One.
Trade on stokes.
Defensive back.
Arizona Wildcats.
Notice the.
The sea on his jersey there.
He earns that.
One of the first things that you hear about stokes when you read any draft analysis of them or.
You know, hear him talk.
Interviews.
Doods a leader.
He is a spirited competitor.
Tone setter.
I like that.
The lands will like that.
Bring up what I did.
I watched a few games of him.
Came in.
So.
He is one of the guys that measured a lot smaller at the combine than expected.
There were listings.
And again, it's just like like the NFL draft bosses of the world.
Where he was listed at six three two oh five.
He's six one one ninety with incredibly small hands.
He's got eight and a half inch hands.
And thirty one and a half inch arms on a six foot one frame to put that in perspective.
Amique Robertson has longer arms than him.
And Amique is four inches shorter.
So.
And I'll just go to the con on that.
It does show when stokes has to wrap and drop.
He doesn't.
He's got so much surface area here with his height that when he wraps.
It doesn't always.
It doesn't have the power to it.
Which is disappointing.
But there is a lot to like about him.
He comes down to hill fast.
Not Dylan Teenerman fast.
But.
He attacks.
And he's very smart.
Savvy at reading his keys and attacking off of it.
Plays in the slot, which is I think where he belongs in the NFL as the slot.
Especially if you're playing against a bigger slot receiver.
No.
Guys that are bigger than Amanra specifically taller than Amanra.
And those guys are out there.
We've seen them.
The smaller quicker guys.
He's going to struggle against a little bit.
He does have a little bit of experience outside.
But most of the time when he's not playing in the slot.
He is playing as a down safety, a box safety.
And that's where they take advantage of his run defense there.
Dude gets after it, man.
Love his angle.
I talk about here.
Show a strong knowledge of football geometry.
What do I mean by that?
I mean he takes good angles to the ball and good anticipatory angles of where the play is going.
So this is a guy who gets caught where he's got a chase.
And is that a poor angle?
Actually, Dylan Tiedemann.
But that's like my biggest issue with him.
Stukes doesn't have that issue.
So good athlete.
Ryan, I believe 433 at the combine.
It's track speed, but it still shows on the field.
What's a state champion triple jumper in high school.
Also was in the finals in the long jump.
Like in its show, like dude's athletic man.
It's a little linear.
He's a little stiffer in the hips and ankles than I like.
And it shows in coverage.
He's not a guy who can instantaneously flip his hips and burst out of it.
Takes him a couple of steps.
But it's not bad.
There are guys that are certainly a lot tighter than him.
But biggest thing.
And this is something that does bug me.
Flatfooted like all the time.
And it's weird because he does like he recognizes play as well.
But he will be in his stance in the slot like four to six yards off.
And the receiver takes two steps and he hasn't moved his feet yet.
And he's like his heels are in the ground and has got to react out of that.
And you can kind of get away with that when you're playing New Mexico state and Colorado.
When you're playing against Jordan Love.
You're playing against color Marie.
I guess it's Minnesota now.
We'll probably have to talk about that at some point.
Good luck with that.
But when you're going against quick NFL receivers and quarterbacks who can put the ball on the right shoulder all the time, which.
One of the things that I noted when I was watching Stukes like.
There was some seriously awful quarterback play he went against.
And it's true, but they're safety's like my God like these quarterbacks are awful.
And I do worry about that.
It actually made me downgrade my my evaluation a little bit like wow.
Just.
Well, have to have a show where we talk about like the draft packet of those like that.
That's one of them that I have become more acute to over the years.
When I'm watching a specifically defensive backs and safety's and like coverage linebackers.
I do need to pay more attention to the caliber of quarterback that's attacking them.
And like here's always they've they've made some crap.
And I don't want to hold that against Stukes, but it does temper my enthusiasm for me coverage.
So he is I believe he's number 88 on the consensus bigboard that Chris has updating.
Every day I have a little bit lower than that.
He is my number 99 player.
So that's third round early fourth round.
Again, the Lions have two fourth round picks.
If they want him, they'd probably they might be able to wait till the fourth on it.
But if you really want him, if he's the guy that you covet in the way that you covered it.
And Broderick Martin the way that you coveted Isaac the Slah, where you covered in a Giovanni Manu all in that general range of the draft.
You move up and you pray that Stukes turns out better than the first two that took and hope that he's more like the Slah who looks like a real keeper.
Trade on Stukes. Good player.
Wouldn't be my favorite choice, but I certainly wouldn't be opposed to it.
That's going to be the daily for today.
Shit, y'all join it in.
Jeff Rosen, sign it out.
Be good to one of everyone.
