Ipswich Town.

2:01Ipswich Town. Yes. Promoted. IPS. Yeah it's an Ipswich. There's a lot of it. There's an Ipswich Massachusetts for instance. Okay. It's not that uncommon. Yes it is. It is absolutely uncommon. Well it's a fairly large team. Kyle you ever heard of a town called Ipswich? Can't say that I have. There it is. It's official. It's cheering team. Two people. Huh? It's Ed Sheeran's team. Oh it is? Oh everybody knows that. Oh well. There you go. I'm not saying that they're you know. I'm not debating. Oh they haven't been for this. That it exists. I'm debating that it's well known. No I wouldn't say unless you follow soccer I guess. We're Ed Sheeran. Yeah. That matter. Okay. All right. Good to know. I'm going to go ahead and move on. That sounds good to me. Fine. Unless you want to comment on sporting Kansas City and throwing some money around and do you think it's going in the right direction? Why? Why you will choose a part of the equation? I do think I have faith that they're going to move in the right direction.

3:04Why? I find there whatever it. What's the title that David Lee has? Technical director. Technical director. I find him which is like general manager. I find him to be an impressive guy. I think he's he's pivoted at times when he's needed to. He's got more money now. And I think they did make a couple of good signings. I mean I think we there were still a ways off. But I'm trying to understand why Yovolich doesn't fit. I had some folks tell me that they didn't think Yovolich would be real happy here if they are going to go through a rebuild. But he's been here to this point and now you're putting money all over the place I would think he was like okay I see what you're doing now I'm on board. But now when they start spending money now he's out. I don't think they feel like he plays the way they want to play in the future. He's pretty much a one trick pony. Now it's an important trick. Yeah. Scoring goals is you know that's hard to find. That's stupid cow shwarber just hitting home runs.

4:05But he doesn't really defend and he doesn't track back and stuff like that. So when I good team well yeah but look how Argentina won one world cup and almost won the other. All the other guys do the dirty work and he scores the goals. So I don't think they feel like they're in a position right now. It's like I think Yovolich is like having a good close around a crappy team. That would be my. The royals if they were bad I don't think they're bad but they they probably are well suited maybe to go out and spend money on a closer this off season because they feel anyway that that may be the difference between them having this season they've had right here and being a winning team. I don't think sporting feels like they're in a position where having a guy who wraps home 20 goals but doesn't do much else work much other work is valuable to them right now. I think they deserve the opportunity to shape the club in the image that they want and

5:09it's going to take a little time. And if it doesn't work in three years and I think they've got somebody who's invested a lot of money in it and is probably will be impatient and they'll move on to another phase of the rebuild. It's just such a crazy time for the league too with this. I mean they picked a good time to be bad because there's so much turnover in the league and so much tumult in the league right now with this season then the short season then the switch to the international calendar. I think next season is almost going to be like people are almost going to ignore it kind of because it's going to be the first time the spring season that happened. Like the sprint season before that what I think they feel like is the real future of MLS which is to be on the international calendar. So I guess it was a good time to be a bad team. Also the World Cup was around yes you could have taken advantage of it but everybody was paying attention to the World Cup if you say you'd been great and you had to take two months off. It wouldn't have been an ideal time for that either.

6:10So if there's a time to be the worst team in MLS I guess this is it. Okay. I'll take it. Okay. All right now. Now on to the news of the day which is college sports. I'm telling you what I'm not I'm not I'm not laughing. I think this is a national embarrassment what's going on. I mean I don't like the rules so I'm going to go to court every time. Mommy, mommy I don't like I can't have that offensive tackle. I'm going to court. You know where we're headed. I'm going to say this on college game day tomorrow. I'll say it now. This is not absurd. This is going to sound like a completely hyperbolic column column comment. Hi this is this is Judge Bordeaux. I rule on the preponderance of the evidence that the University of Mississippi committed holding on third down and I award this game to Louisiana State University.

7:17Is that preposterous with what's going on right now? No. I don't know why you think that's any different than what's going on in general. Oh I don't. I think it's you know if I don't like the name of a building or a lake I'll change it. If I don't like who's Walt's and into my community. I'll you know some of the militia. I mean it's awful. So hold it means with embarrassing. But this is really bad because this is this is adults misbehaving. I don't blame the players in front of the children. Right and you can't blame these guys if they think that they can go to the Lane Kiffin and say hey coach you know I didn't cut it up there with the with the Browns and I could use some cheddar. You want me? Oh yeah. Oh yeah we'll go to court to get you in here. I mean that's no example for a young man. It's time to get on with the world. You played college football for a lot of amount of time.

8:19You went to the next step. You didn't cut it okay. Time to move on. But I don't blame him for going hey I got one last rodeo here. I can go back get a couple million dollars and these idiot adults are so hell bent to win football games for old state you that they're willing to just throw their maybe careers but at least they're morals right in the trash can. I mean could can Lane Kiffin actually just he have self respect can he be so deluded that he doesn't know that everybody thinks he's a complete ass. Who do I want to waltz through life like that? 9:21what it does indeed show is the power of the games. Yes. And the fact that we love these games and also we love our universities where we went. People don't go back to campus to go to the library and you know sit in the stacks and reminisce about how they used to study in the afternoon. They go back to drink beer and watch a football game and see their old friends and so they don't want to you know that they want to see some guy running around in their jersey and they don't care if it's his third college in the last four years or whatever. I mean this is child's play compared to basketball. How many guys do you they've asked about there's so many guys who do four teams. I mean that's real common. I mean in football at least usually three is the max. I mean maybe a quarter back goes from one stop to the next and he usually plays if he's good he plays three years at one place and then finishes it off with puts the cherry on top at old state you across the country.

10:22I mean but the games themselves who couldn't be in a better place people love watching them they pack the stands Missouri packs the stadium for that glorified scrimmage. I mean my god can we schedule a little bit better. It's that's pathetic. 37 nothing at the half can anybody enjoy 40 40. Oh sorry I gave up I thought it was half time when it gets a 37 and it was still the first half. I said okay it's time to roll out a game of golden tea here at the bar. Do better of course I say that and then you mass the unanimously selected worst team and all of college football just hammers red cars. So they must they must have got some trust fund baby. You know what's going to be on the airwaves tonight. What what here are airwaves. You're at least you're not going to talk about scheduling and not mention. Oh okay you yeah L.I.

11:23U.N. No the sharks the minnow's come to town to get their spanking. Oh it's ridiculous. I mean place you know I don't expect you to go out and play Michigan for your you know game but come on now and think of the fans a little bit. I'm sorry maybe maybe you know if you had 15 cores light you go oh look at those touchdowns out there against L.I. U. Wee. I mean can they even judge can anybody judge what Missouri did last night. Can you take anything from it. Sure the quarterback looked great. But you know right off the bat third down and long. Oh look this guy so open for the first touchdown for Missouri high high school open he was P.We. Open and the linebackers look for help for you know because I don't know I shouldn't even be out here. What the hell is this.

12:24So just between scheduling and these ridiculous court cases. I'm watching this morning on the replay of college football tonight or whatever it was and who's the reporter is all of respin now with the glasses. He's always breaking the news. His name slips me now and Marty something. No no not Marty. He's doing all the all the court reporting anyway it doesn't really matter. He's standing outside the court and so he's covering one court case and the anchor says to him well we've got breaking news get us up to date on this because the court case your covering is not even the one that matters because they've just filed a federal injunction in a different court. While Greg's a shanky spanky was test was testifying. He was testifying in one court. Meanwhile his conference was suing Alabama and LSU in a federal court at the time he was testifying in another trial.

13:26I mean what a joke. So I can't wait for the first Saturday and then they're just they're playing games out there and they're fun and this touchdowns being scored and you know then you have to hold your nose is Colorado rallies to win coach prime it's a who persevere. Mark Slaibach. No not Mark Slaibach. It's not him. Pete Damel. Yes Pete Damel. That's glasses is not well that's Pete Damel. Okay. I just saw the the by line. Yeah it's Pete it's Pete Damel. Pete Damel. He's the one. Yes he's the one who's we're spending all this time in court. I'm sure I'm sure it's delighted about. Hey my college football beats in the court is like he's describing how the court is just stuffed with so many lawyers and officials they had to put the actual athletes. This was the case where you know these athletes are trying to get another year of eligibility of the 22 class. They couldn't even fit them in the court. They were like sitting in a bullpen or something. Well but don't you agree that like at least a big chunk of this could have been avoided

14:28by just giving them the fifth year. I don't know what could have been avoided because well you wouldn't have none of those guys would be suing they would have had eligibility and they'd be playing. Maybe for now it could have been avoided but look at you know like Melvin council he just won't go away you know I mean these people just well. These are the same boat as those guys right. That lawsuit is him. Yeah maybe this maybe after this class is over it's going to calm down but I see no evidence that they're not going to find some other thing they want to do. Once they start saying that you can go and try out in the NFL and maybe you can come back what's going to keep them from saying well all these eligibility rules are crap. You should be able to play college football as long as you like. I mean it's really pro football now anyway. But where are the adults who can say okay you've joined this organization you've joined college football. I don't know what you want to over arching call it the NCAA you can't do that because nobody

15:32is going to listen to any of the thing about that. And you're going to play major college football. Here are the rules. Follow them or just don't play. Do something else shut her down become the University of Chicago in your example in the past. Don't play big time sports. Do what the rest of the world does. Where the only country that does this maybe Canada a little bit for hockey but most of the rest of the world there's no use this example on the show many times my daughter went to the University of London. They don't have a soccer team in London the University of London no soccer team. So I love these games you know I'm a fan I watched the games but it's just like you just got a hold your nose and ignore everything else but you can't you can't ignore it your job to follow it. But it's it's don't you think it's embarrassing. Oh yeah absolutely.

16:32It's a bad reflection on it. But it's been embarrassing for years it was just the norm and it was all kept there wasn't a spotlight on it. It's been embarrassing how they had these they millions of dollars coming in and not giving it to the kids and. I agree. It's just crappy we get to scholarship pretty good state you know like it's it's been embarrassing for years. Well it's just it was the norm. Well it was it was used to it it was comfortable because we'd grown up with it. Well it also wasn't as embarrassing when the amounts of money weren't unbelievably large. You know when a football coach of a winning program was making six figures and his you know coordinators are making twenty grand or something. Yeah I mean saying that the price of a scholarship is a is a big deal it is a big deal. And then when they started to you know for a while there it really was a great deal. It even even then for the kids because you're talking about two three hundred thousand dollars

17:35worth of scholarship. As you know when I went to college and scholarship was probably ten grand for the whole the whole ride. So you know it wasn't that big a deal. But then it became a big deal but then the money is escalated so much that yes of course they deserve to get the deserve to get the money. But now that's not good enough. They they got to get the money for longer and they're going to sue to play so they can oh jeez. And then you have to pile on Long Island and Arkansas pine bluff. I didn't even you know what it looked like a scrimmage too because the guy just rolled out there I'm like at first I'm like who's Missouri. Oh the team that's scoring all the touchdowns. That's that's Missouri. I have the same thing I'm like Missouri is going all yellow no way the other team looks bigger. They're the other team okay yeah because the Missouri Tiger logo when you're watching

18:38the TV like from far away it's not obviously a Tiger right you know I mean I and I like the logo but I mean you know you do have to squint a bit to figure it out so that I said oh big black helmet big they got something on the side is that a block am I don't know no it's a pine tree I guess no I don't even know what it's like and said it's the golden lions and in the main you didn't hear my first segment I was thrilled to look at the main see if you can figure out what's going on with the main I can't open this little picture. So you take your fingers spread it out make it bigger. I don't want to just tell me. APBU or you APB is written in the main oh very nice yeah I was I was so thrilled when I figured that out and they have a lion and carve it into the head of the lion with the mascot I know the main yeah as it has it spells it out so great good for them. They sure weren't the golden lions last night. They were the 10 10 kiddies yeah what they were I could have flipped that around it would

19:44have been really funny but I don't know I'm trying to get out the first word would have been kin yes for people yeah yeah follow that yeah then I'm not going to tell you what second word is you should be able to figure out you get 10 kiddies become the kin and then yeah yeah yeah then you get another yuck yuck. I thought you look good but you know what you can he can help that he's playing little sisters of the pool I'm okay with one of these games but I think everybody should play it on the same weekend and and they should just call a preseason to be done with it. I'm not okay with games that the other the opposition is so bad the line is over 50 points I mean and most people I think fully expected Missouri 50 where you draw the line. Well 41 42 that shows how bad Rutgers was there really a 29 point favorite I mean people must think they really stink because I mean you mass was routinely picked 138 and but

20:51every list I saw and one a game and but there's division one right and that's what happens when you play anything can happen to any that's why they're playing Arkansas Pine Bluff we don't need we don't need you mass coming in here kicking our ass no no we don't need that so you do schedule all the way down should be I don't know is Pine Bluff they're in they must be a FBS I'm assuming I don't know I think they said somebody find out what lead are they see us yeah yeah you should have to play at least in FBS school I mean come on I I agree I think you should have to play a home at home with anyone you schedule or at least a two for one right you mean but but but then again I think in terms of what's good for all the schools not just the one school well I think it's the only thing that's good about this is that they they're so they're you know Missouri is like Rutgers is so desperate to play somebody so bad they played them 1.5 mil yeah and they shot off the fireworks

21:55after the game did you see this no they had a fireworks show scheduled after the after the game clearly figuring out is going to be a celebration will win 52 to nothing and and then and they set off the fireworks anyway with 11 people still there literally it looked like there might have been 11 I'll send it to you sir and it's the saddest fire one should we get co-filled oh well that's right up there with what then they set off fireworks when Mark Quinn yes walked he walked yeah yeah and he was not happy you had to write to not be happy but who made who made this decision this is there's another gutless aspect of this nation where people just so terrified by their superiors that well it's on the schedule you know somebody couldn't just say you know what no no no Joe don't throw the switch we don't need fireworks here but instead it's like well Wally told me the fireworks go come hell or high water well we got

31:40got so many issues pitching wise you know I mean Michael Waka is so encouraging but then he's going to be 36 years old next year so in a later the no strikeout genius of Michael Waka oh he's had more strikeouts yeah he's striking out well he had more whiffs last night I think then he's adding is although I hate the I hate the word whiff because in my raising whiffing meant striking out not swinging and missing but they call whiffs when you swing and miss like when David Leskey puts it in his newsletter he'll say he had 14 whiffs and like whoa so I've had to adjust my my thinking but yeah he's you know I was watching him pitch last night and I'm watching him like look at him just dot the top of the strike zone there time after time well can you do that over and over I mean he went five years without doing it so you know and then that's your horse right now

32:42and your your other horse is lost his saddle lugo so and then you got to completely construct bullpen which is possible in baseball well that's that's that's where you know I do like that the position players you know and I'm hoping that we see Carter Jensen or Jack Caglione locked up and extended into a couple of years into their free agency with a big money deal and you can turn and burn on the pitchers I mean that's the brewers approach keep the position guys and keep turning over the pitchers and and replenishing the system and everything and I understand the idea that like look we need walka because we don't have the system is not done right it's not it's not up and running where the guys that we have gone out and gotten with this regime are ready to help us and once that happens then I think you'll need you won't need a walka and a lugo you only need to

33:42get one hopefully every few years right because you'll have enough guys coming through from your own system or and or trade trading other prospects you've got or other guys on your big league roster for the you you won't need to dabble that much in going out and getting you know 30 plus year old pitchers and free agency but right now they do but I I am with you like I I just think that you know I I don't think that the lesson was learned well enough the the Dayton more being so adamant about not tanking and making these little moves to suddenly did somehow seemingly boost the club to be competitive for them only to lose 100 plus games anyway and not get any return off moving some of the resources that you had and so to me I would have hope that that would have been there would have been an understanding that we've got when we've got a resource we've got a it's got a count it's got to be used when we win it can't be used to just facilitate the game walking soria closing games for three years on a hundred loss team was a complete waste when he could have

34:46potentially brought you back a starting pitcher for the future a cleanup hitter like that that to me is is is frustrating still because this is still not going to be a winning year that's great Michael walker through a nice game last night yay but if the if you if you've got a guy in double a that looks like he's you know right handed out the other and double a that's got 26 home runs right now I would rather have that because I think that guy's got a chance to be a part of the royals team the next time they win and less and I'm with you I 27 looks a long look looks closer now than it did it still looks like a big hill to climb and also I think that they're looking at it this this year I think will be an aberration I don't think we're going to have too many years where you roll out there and play 500 baseball you're going to make the playoffs and that's probably going to be a couple games over I would think this year but maybe not and because normally you're

35:47going to have to win a seven 88 games I mean that's legitimate baseball so I don't see an 88 win team there so but there are enough signs that with a spring training there'll be plenty of optimism I mean what do you think the rotation will be one two three four five is who next year but I think Lugo is going to be in there and I've said this like I know you're going to I think he's going to be in there yeah what's going to be in there at least but the only reason he's going to be in there is because you're paying him $23 million if he made $1.5 million you would release him but because you got 23 you never put a 37 year old with a five year A back in the rotation no big party but would be that and also there's if not him who if they get if they get him that's exactly they're probably going to roll him out there so I would say it's probably walk of Cameron Lugo I don't think Lynch I guess that's going to be him but I don't

36:49like the signs he hasn't been very good since they put him back in starting oh I think it's just if anything it's I hope it's doing nothing to his ability as a reliever but my fear is that you know he needed a little time to settle into that he was relieving two years ago in 24 and put a pretty good numbers and they wouldn't put him in a playoff game because they didn't believe in him and it seemed like he was growing into a guy that you could believe in and they've got bullpen problems and so I'm hoping this doesn't do any damage to what had become a useful reliever I think it might I think the plan right now would be Lynch and an acquisition so that would be the five I would find Dobnex back they have control of him I keep forgetting that Jeff pass and I keep reminding me I think I but doesn't that just look like a nice few months for a guy a hundred percent going to get a few more years of service time a nice story whatever I don't that doesn't look like a long-term solution there frankly I'm not you know

43:08mm-hmm so what do you think well one more time to talk before they put the bronchers right uh I think I'm more dubious about the potential for a truly good season than most people based on youth health uh general roster structure uh age in some cases well they're the they were the third yeah they're the they're the they're the they're the they have some key pieces that are not that's what I meant they got six guys over third I mean you know Chris Jones could be Chris Jones this year or he could be you know Joe Jones maybe he could be the four the artist formerly known as Chris Jones and and not be a very good player I mean that's certainly a possibility at his age Travis Kelsey could be nothing it's probably unlikely that a truly great for you know one of the best ever players position is going to even if he's a shadow of himself be completely ineffective but maybe

45:14underapted free agents contributing to the team I mean that's excellent work but maybe they're just roster filler that we don't know track record would indicate they're more than that but it's a lot of rookies you know and yes at some point in the NFL you'd have to reboot and the NFL is getting younger and younger as a league and you have to rely on you know low salary people in the early stages of their career to make an effective roster because you have a salary cap and a few people make a lot of money including your quarterback so I think it'd be interesting I I don't think I'm going to pick them to win the opener I'm still got you know time to think about it but I don't think I'm going to pick them to win that game lose that game next week's it is Indy reasonably tough game you know at the opening of the season is tough so you know then you lose the first game it's a divisional game at home against the team that you're trying to win the
