The walls are talking right here in Tennessee. There's feeling beans about everything, so come pull up a seat. If you don't want the world to know, don't let it out your mouth. The walls are talking, they're that star right now. Hey everybody, welcome to the walls, they're talking. We have our secret guest again, we're going to try to see your big secret. Super secret guest. Don't have a clue. So we've been actually planning around with this segment a little bit, and it's been going over pretty well, and you all get to try to guess, and we're going to throw a hint every once in a while at you guys, and let you see if you can figure out who it is. And if you figure it out, you're going to have a huge congratulations coming. You're very smart. Yeah, we just call the segment who? Who? I like the who segment. Yeah, who? But so I have a hot topic to bring up, and it's something that I have mixed feelings about,
and I feel like a lot of people do in this business, and it's AI. Okay. So the Grammy's just announced that they are allowing the nominations to include AI-generated music. Oh, we're diving right into this gospel thing. That's fine. I mean, I'm neither surprised nor do I care, because honestly, whoever pays for it's going to win anyway. That's true. I have so much respect for the Grammys. Yeah, and I mean, they're basically saying it has to be significant and important. It has to have a minor amount of human content. Yeah, and for those of you who can't see what's going on right now, Kelly's kind of reading this as we go. We're getting it figured out. Yeah. We just kind of had this sprung on a little bit the other day, where we figured out that if you have even a slight amount of human input,
then it's fair game. And the human typed it, so it's a real song. It counts. Definitely counts. I'm kind of on a Beatles, right? Now, honestly, and everything I'm about to say does not reflect on these people in the room with me at all. It's just on myself, so continue, I guess, punishing me for it alone. Yeah, I could not care less about the Grammys. I've been on the nominee list many, many, many times, and it has been revealed and explained to me multiple times that it's like, oh, yeah, that just wasn't in the budget. So do you think they're just trying to play along with all this? No, I think people are going to pay for the A&Rs one. I think there'll be whoever's developing it, they'll do that. They're going to want to make a point. Yeah, but now we're talking about the Grammys. When was the last time someone spoke about the Grammys? Right. Because people don't really care, but now they're more relevant because they're doing this hot topic. People are talking about them, and the problem is people are talking about it in a negative way,
and it's the home mentality of like, oppression is good, and the price except no one's going to watch. Yeah, especially now. Well, I feel like it's a different thing. They probably are trying to do exactly what you say because they're thinking if any press is good press, but as an organization, that rolls a little different. If people kind of turn against you as an organization, then it's a problem as an individual. If you're an artist that's getting bad press people are talking about you. So it's like, I feel like it lands a little different with an individual. Yeah, because I had a theory about it with an artist recently. Who I'm not going to name. I don't know him, and he might be an absolutely wonderful person. I just love the art. I don't know. Also, you know, what we do is very subjective. So maybe he lives it and he's very passionate about it and his activities. But I did have one theory because there was someone who'd released a song and it was getting a bunch of negativity. Everyone talking about how bad it was. Oh. Oh. You know, it's exactly the one you're thinking about. And I was getting it. And it's something that one of my friends had asked me about it. I was like, I was like, what if?
What if, because he's been away for a little while. He hasn't released anything. What if this is a part of it? And this would be a genius plan of release something like that. Now, everyone's talking about it. And everyone's going to tune into the next one. And then the next one's great. And I've got all these eyeballs. Right. He didn't. The next one's up to. No. Still not naming it. No, sorry. The next one wasn't for me. That's very unfair of me. And that's not cool of me as a artist. But it wasn't for me. But maybe we should just hold, well, like withhold your name this whole time. And not ever tell me just in case there was going to be a driver coming in. Yeah. I can hear the lawsuits coming now. No, we can't show me. You can not tell me on tour for sure. I'm sure about who's going to anyway. I'm safe. Right. Yeah. When the second one came out, I was like, how bad do you need a free pair of boots, dude? Right. New Casey didn't rhyme there at all. But yeah, as far as the Grammy stuff goes, I mean, I think to my understanding, there's like multiple facets of the Grammys and it all kind of operates and it's on Little Universe.
It kind of has Sony is with, you know, the music industry stuff and electronics and music equipment. Yeah. It's all different. Yeah. It's not like Yamaha where the same guy making the piano makes the jet ski. Right. Because I have done stuff with the Grammys that's been really cool. I've also attended the Grammys and it sucks in its lame. That's a hint, by the way, just for those of you all here. No, I have my own exhibit in the Grammys Museum back in the day. Oh, that's a huge knowledge. Now we really want to know who this is, don't we first? I never went to it. No way. That's not me. It's when I was, it was early in my career and I enjoyed bad behavior things and I just did that instead of going. And it's one of my big regrets because that's such a cool thing that not very many people in the world get to say or do or be a part of it. I was very fortunate and blessed for it, apparently. Yeah, apparently. Apparently, did you at least have like some memorabilia from it or anything? No. Nothing. So it's just a thing you know of. Yeah, I actually now I'm saying it.
I may in hindsight have to retract a little bit of what I was saying about it because the exhibit was the future of metal. And then I promptly stopped doing that. I mean, that's why I like me. Oh, perfect. I mean, as you should, right? Maybe that's why they don't like me. It was nothing to do with it. That's amazing. Maybe it was no kind of corporate corruption. Oh my God. It's because I made them look stupid. That's incredible. Shocker, I was the problem. Oh, yeah. Isn't that funny how that usually happens? It's me. Well, I tell you what, I feel like we have some more hints coming in here. So now if I'm following this so far, I'm gathering that you've got a metal background. And you've got some Grammy nomination. Some nominations. I was going to say some heat. Yeah. So they do stage nominations. I was never like on the like last four or five. But that was the bar. It starts costing money. I was up until that point. I think it was like.
Seven, maybe eight years of it. And by the end, I was, I remember when I got the last one, I was like, I was like, don't even bother sending these to me. It's not cool anymore. It was exciting in the beginning, like when we're teenagers. And he's like, oh, such an archaed man. And then after a while, you're just like, you're like, I don't care anymore. Just let me know if I win. I don't even care about that now. Maybe we can attribute this to me growing up and becoming hopefully a little bit more grounded. Or maybe it's just being shaded. I don't know. But I've no cares at all about that stuff anymore. Yeah. I'm also not sentimental at all. I have found them. Or professional. I have, I do not have any of any award of everyone. I don't have it. Really? I don't have any awards.
I don't think I have any plaques. Do you wonder if that's a, so there's a thing we call musician brain. And it's like just a certain type of person it takes to be a musician. And I have a different word for it, but we call it say on here. Right, right. Our heart would be upset with it. They would be upset. Yeah, we'd be trying to figure out the editing and everything. It's our word in case it was cool. Oh, there it is. There it goes. I think we're allowed to say that again, but I'm not sure. I don't know if I've ever talked about it. I think so. If there's a beep here, no. Where's George Carlin when we need him? Right, we're going to find out. But it makes me wonder. See, it's like this weird disconnect. Because I feel like I've done that before with things where I get like this weird tunnel vision. And I disconnect from things real quick. Do you feel like it's a little bit like that as a personality matter or just a learned trait? No, because in the beginning, I thought they were really cool. But I also, you know, I wasn't a very popular child. And then so I saw it out and craved that like acceptance and attention.
So it was really cool. And I also was cursed with getting successful at a young age younger than I think people should. Like I was still a teenager. I think you should be like 40. I'm not 40 yet. Sorry. And I still say that. I see what you're setting up there. It's good thing. Yeah, I think you're going to grow up a little bit. I like that. Yeah. Because there's also the theory of like why famous people are so nuts. And it's I forget who told me once they were like, whatever age you are when you get famous that you stay there. I could see that. You know that actually brings up a question for me though because you just said that you weren't very popular as a child. But then you like launch into this metal world at the risk. Yeah, so at the risk of saying too much and ruining the big super secret too soon. You did have some some pretty notable success coming up through your through your teens and stuff like that. So what kind of I don't even know how to wrap my head around that.
What kind of culture shock happens in a brain for a relatively unpopular kid to suddenly just like you wake up one day in your rock star. Like what is that? What is that? What happens in that? It's like given a toddler a swimming pool full of sugar. You don't know what you don't even know what to do. You're going to rampage and then it's also. This is a flaw of that side of the industry and I can't speak on other sides because I've never been 17 in the other sides. You kind of especially within that and it was probably time period part of it as well. Certain laws stop applying where you know you're 17 and people are like you want doing bunch of booze. You want a bunch of booze and drugs because try here. Yeah. Yeah, that sounds cool. What like who did it? And then you read the dirt and you take that as a personal challenge for a new life really spirals. But apparently as a friend told me. But yeah, it's it's it's weird. And honestly I find it hard to speak on because it honestly and very very genuinely feels like it wasn't even me.
Like a lot of it is I mean granted I was messed up for a lot of it. So I don't have to worry if it was memory challenged for those times. But then there's also I'm such an immensely different person that anytime I'm thinking back on it. I'm like it's like a movie I watched and I'm trying to recall but I don't remember how it went because it's nothing during that time period is anything I would ever consider doing it. Like why up this dreams now? And I'm still a crazy person which is a different direction. So there's like there has to be this one like really surreal element of that. Yeah, absolutely. Because it was you but it wasn't on some weird level. You also kind of get conditioned into when those kind of laws and rules get pulled back a little bit and you think give you a little bit too long of a leash. Like you carry it because you're so young and then you've been on the road for a few years. At that point your your condition divvied given the dog treats for doing the stuff so you get off and you go home.
And you don't think twice about just well as a kid doing that just I get rewarded. I expect the rewards out of it. I expect at some point it almost becomes like you're I mean I guess in a very real way it kind of becomes your identity after a while and then you almost have like this reciprocal situation with the fan base who like expects you to be this crazy person. That's what's scary about I still do with that now really. Oh, it's been a decade. Identity is such a scary thing because if you identify with the wrong thing it can be really bad. I try and urge newer artists now to as much as they can just keep as much of yourself away from public eyes possible because the second you get put in that box like you that's your box now. Right. I have a like I think that's the biggest struggle I've had with I mean even before separating away from the band even just as the band evolved and changed sound.
It's people are still like 18 years later. Mad eyes see backs from when we were 17 years old. And they themselves would be like the only good thing you ever did was your first time like then why are you still here? That was 20 the 2008. Yeah, it's really interesting that that kind of came up organically because Kelly has been going through comments. She's been saying that. They're just like hating in there but then there's a lot of supportive people and we probably don't want to talk about that too much. Yeah, that too, but we can't give it away. The secret super secret guest is. But yeah, but it's interesting that yeah, because you've changed so much and people are either going to accept that or not and it's not really your responsibility if they do or not. So we're going to do this part of the segment where we're trying to be really careful. I'll go further more and more hands keep coming out and it gets closer and closer to figuring out who you are and we're trying to tip toe around it.
Yeah, and especially when it gets this specific. I know it's fun. It's like we're talking about leaving bands and stuff. I think that's another. Yeah, there's all kind of hints. You all so I hope you're paying attention. Yeah, this should be kind of easy to figure out pretty soon. I think we're going to have to go check out the comments section here. Yeah, I can go check out the comments section. Yeah, I can go check out the comments section. Yeah, I can go check out the comments section. They're all still mad. They're not there. Yeah, I do. I've never heard of this game a lot. We said the name and they're like, I don't know who it is. You can just let us know. We're still waiting. I have no idea. I heard it twice. Don't get it yet. So you had said something earlier. I'm trying to circle back on it a little bit because you were talking about the people being mad all these years later in the whole identity thing. Almost haunting you in a sort of way now. I know that the people who are still following the band are doing that a lot. Do you feel or see some of that tracking over? Do some of those fans follow into kind of what you're doing now and still in the positive regard or.
In any regard, do you find some of the old fans following some of your new movements and. Oh, yeah, yeah. No, they're all over everything. Every single thing I've asked is an argument. Good and bad then I guess. Yeah, no, I'm very fortunate and blessed. I have a lot of very lovely people who follow me and enjoy the things that do. And kind of shows and. I get to meet some wonderful people and I get to entertain and help in even the smallest capacity of just. Put in pause on whatever they're going through for three minutes. I'm a great. Blessing of being able to do that. But at the same time. Yeah, a bunch of them are mean. Yeah. Yeah, you handle it so well though. The band I only learned this recently, the band within the industry. No one ever told us this. I don't know why. Well, I know why I would heard our feelings. Famously internally in the industry have like the worst fan base. And there's a bunch of of our friends bands who are a lot bigger and we've always been like, why are you guys take us on tour?
And that's why it's because they didn't want it. They want our fans around. Oh my goodness. Because they're rowdy or. No, just suck. Like how do they suck? No, like those like those really mean cruel people. Oh, that's the cruelty. Oh wow. Yeah, it's just and listen, I'll play devil's advocate here where it's probably people who have a strong emotional attachment to that period of the life and the band. Music helped them through something very important. And they've got they've got they've got some wound inside that's the that's the band aid for. So they feel really passionately about it. And I try and think of that in my head when I'm dealing with it that it's the passion and there is a compliment in there. But it's really hard to see what there be. There's the connection element of it. All right, well, I'll tell you what I think we got as many hands as we can get out without letting the name out of the bag. So walls are talking and you're listening. I'm about Miss Matag right there. Yeah, I got you. We're going to take a short break and we'll be right back y'all. And we're going to fill you in on who the big super secret guest is.

Many voices, one freedom, united in the first amendment. Now is our time, my fellow Americans, America out loud dot news, liberty and justice for all. All right, welcome back to the walls you're talking. I think we're going to let this secret out of the bag. I believe it's just about that time. What do you think, Billy? Yeah, we're going to make him do his own drum roll. I think that's fair. Good at that. And I'm wearing real sweaty shorts. Yeah, we have Danny Worsenoff. If you all figured it out, like we said, you get a big old congratulations. We don't have no prizes for you, but you can feel good knowing you're super smart. Yeah, if you send us your social security number, name a first pet favorite teacher, first concert, we'll send you some money. Exactly, of course. Just send us a check first and we'll let you like a whole deposit thing has to go in. We'll take off our fee and then we'll send it back to you.
Exactly. Seems fair. Yeah. So Danny wasn't asking Alexandria. Yes, ma'am. Right. And that is no longer... I think the technical current status is a hiatus, but it's also not. It's just being on the road for 18 years and everyone besides me has children. So everyone's just taking time with their families. It's not like a formal or official thing. Oh, okay. Sorry. Because I wasn't totally... I don't want this to be the breaking news where all of a sudden they're super nice fan base. So I was going, Danny announced the bands on a break. Because that's not technically what's happening. Right. I was just taking a little breather. Yeah. That's fair. That's fair. How long for? I don't know. And, um, yes. That's not so much of. Yeah. So we were talking about it in the comments. So like one of the comments I was looking at that, you know, every maybe five or six comments, somebody's like, you need to start screaming again and you'll just be like, nope. No, thanks. Yeah. So what? With love? Pass. Yeah. Is that mostly because of like the damage?
It's like just hard on your voice? Was it a conviction? It would be disingenuous for me to say it isn't in part about the damage, but the truth of the matter. And I think I blamed that for a little while. The truth of the matter is I just really don't like it. I don't like the process of it. I don't like the sound of it. I don't think for what I am trying to say in songs, I don't think it represents or presents those feelings, thoughts and ideas. I don't think it's a truthful representation of that. And I mean, that's our job, right? Yeah. We have an idea or a feeling or a story and we're trying to portray that. And it's just, it's not a vehicle that makes sense for me. And I also don't like it. And I also don't want to minimize anyone else's joy in it. I have no issue with anyone's joy now. I'm very glad they do. I want everyone to find the thing they love and enjoy it. I just don't... Did you have... Okay, so have you always felt like that or is this a newer thing?
That is a good question. Because... Yes and no. There have been times where it's been thrilling and exhilarating. Because I mean, it's a similar thing with... You know, you do something and people respond in a big way to it. Like, that's exciting. Yeah. And then you can't... Then I couldn't truthfully sit there and go, well, regret doing that. Because that's not the reality of the situation. It's... I think you... You're gonna separate the two things where like... It by itself, no. I don't enjoy it, I don't like it. But it has allowed me to do really cool things that were very enjoyable. More than make up for not like in the thing, then in the moment you don't think about it. You don't not enjoy doing it. And it doesn't take away from the cool thing. And especially like we were talking about earlier when you're young and you just really crave that acceptance. You do a thing and people are like, ah, yeah! You just can keep doing that. Of course. And I'm...
It was circle back to probably a thousand times. But I'm been honest to you in the moment. You're just... Just getting yourself in that box. Deeper and deeper and deeper. Yeah. And it just made it harder to get out. Yeah. Because I was wondering if it was like something that spawned from back then. You just never totally... Or it was like, no, I'm not doing this anymore or if it was a new thing. Because Troy and I have talked about... Like, and I know asking Alexander, it was not a Christian band. But like, there's Christian bands at scream. And Troy's always been like, I don't get that because like, it just doesn't seem... I don't know. Like... You're making me show my age, but it's like... Well, it feels all for the genre to me because I feel like to do Christian music and for it to feel angry. Like, whatever genre is in its place is awesome for what it is. But if you're going to do Christian music and it feels angry, something about that just doesn't set right with it. I think there's two lenses to look at that through. Where there's the separation of Christian music and worship music.
True. Yeah. Because there have been a few instances throughout the years of Christianity where Anger and Violence have been not only warranted but necessary. Sure. In my head, I think back to Crusades, whether negative parts of it, yes. I mean, was war having to do in the first place, negative? Yeah, of course. But also very necessary. Sure. So, those aspects of it, I mean, we are not currently... I think, Lord, in a position where that is the life we're living in. Could we get there in the future? Absolutely. And then it's definitely going to have its place. But there's also... Maybe, maybe talking... And I'm saying this with pure speculation because I haven't been a consumer of it. It could be a Christian song in that anger and hatred is directed towards the enemy itself. Yeah. Sure. You know it's an interesting point.
That war cry against the devil. Right. But the reason I was bringing that up is because you are born again. Amen. I am as well. And I was just like... I wonder if that was a conviction. Like, this isn't a sound that could be pleasing to the Lord or something. Well, ironically enough, it felt like that was kind of touching on what you were just saying. It's maybe not so specific in its purpose for the song. Yeah. For me personally, at least consciously, it wasn't a part of it because that process started very. Very, very, very, very, very, very long time ago. Sure. But, I mean, at the same time, he was working on me long and far-realized. Yeah. Right. It's like watching a child growl. There is this big until they can get something off the counter one day and they're like, wait a minute. You're knee height. How do you... Why are you driving? So this kind of begs the obvious question. Do you see things moving in that direction musically?
Do you find... Was it worship stuff? Coming up and some of the stuff you're working on or is it more just a personal thing and then your music is still more job? You know, I have... I've maintained an outlook of, I'm the soft entry for people. Okay. Where it's like I can be the... Not the A poster child of like, look what good he can do in your life because I was a train wreck. And... Man, that's a theme, I think, somehow. Yeah. Look at what positive you can do in a person. Sure. And how much you can turn them around. And that was always my intention. And I always said I was like, I'm not trying to be a worst part. I have no interest in doing it. That isn't my world. I love it. I listen to it. That's not for me. That's not my place. Right. And we just moved. And the first thing that happened when I got there is I went and found a church. And I took about two weeks for the past two go like, hey, so you're going to come up and play. Right. And I was like, I can learn something and come do on.
That's what I'm talking about. And then two weeks later he was like, we're doing a worship night. I was like, you are? He said, no, we are. So I had to pull a lot together. So we did that last week. Yeah, I saw that. And it was absolutely beautiful. We've already planned the next one. So apparently, yes, I am doing that. That sounds like it's a little bit less on the professional side more in the church. It is. No, 100%. And I mean, I record everything. It's how I learn things. Gotcha. So I have the entire show recorded at least as far as my voice and my acoustic guitar. And we talked about building out the rest of it and putting it out through the church. That would be awesome. Because it's the same as in the church don't pay me a penny. But he'd ask me about pay. And I was like, listen, if it's ever at that point and you want to cover one of my payments for something, buy all means. I was like, I will never profit a penny off this. I don't want to profit off doing stuff for the church. And it would be the same with if we released music. It's like, do it through the church. I don't need that money. I'm fine.
I live in the studio. That doesn't cost me. It doesn't cost me anything to make the songs. So I don't need anything from them. I have my own music for that. So it wouldn't be a professional thing. But people have voiced a lot of interest in it. And if I'm moving and inspiring people, then I feel like that's probably his plan for this whole thing. It wasn't just that I could sit here and talk poorly of the Grammys. But that's fun too. I got it funny like that. You're like, this is what I'm going to do. And then he's like, how about this? And you're like, that was kind of cool. Yeah. I was listening to something on the drive here today. And it was so good. And it was about, within scripture, when he's talking about the chosen people. And there was a guy reference in between different passages. And obviously God is separated from time. He knows the start. He knows the end. He knows all of this and what was and what will be. And he was saying, his chosen people are the people who he already knows choose him.
So they're chosen before they ever choose him because he knows they know they're gonna. And I'm sat there because this whole time I've been like, why have I been able to do so much cool? Stuff while being so outwardly spoken, not only atheist but anti-Christian. Anti-Christian is always the important note there because sometimes you know, how do you know your guys the right guy? I'm like, we don't hate any of the other ones. But look at Paul. I mean, Paul was killing Christians. Not the nicest guy. Yeah. And God, you didn't just write a mean song. No, he was like killing Christians and all kinds of crazy stuff. And I was there and as he was saying that I was just there in the car and I'm just talking to God. And I'm just like, that's why you knew that I was gonna get here. So you just used all of that time. And I'm even kind of putting some of this into my together in my head now. All that time building this this platform and being entangled within this community of people who are so not religious and anti-you.
So that when the time came, I am now right in the middle of it. Yeah. Hey guys, I found this thing right. You're not gonna like how it sounds. You might want to sit down for it, but Jesus. Yeah. And I'm like in the perfect position to reach these people who otherwise. No, Christian. Well, that's put it myself too high. But we've been so hard for a Christian to reach because they just instantly walk away from that conversation. Yeah, and they love you. I'm just putting the perfect place. And I'm like, I'm so much smarter than me. Like I know you are. Like I keep catching bits of them. Like God, I am very simple minded. Yeah. We were just talking about this yesterday because I was telling him I was like, you know, part of me wishes that I found the Bible sooner. But then he was like, but you may not have even accepted it the way you are now. Like that year because you have to be ready. Like he gives us eyes to see and you have to be there to see.
Or else you can't. It's like a it's like a hidden book. I mean, it talks about that in Isaiah. Like it's like a hidden book that you can't even open. Well, interestingly enough, I think it's almost deeper than that in her case. Like the conversation we were having was strange because I got it just got me thinking that like when she was she made the comment, she was like, I just wish I had found this earlier. And I got think I'm like, you know, I don't think that actually would have been a good thing. I don't think it would have ever not that it wouldn't have ever meant anything, but it certainly wouldn't have meant what it does because. You'd less with it. Yeah, because I think if you come through all that chaos and whatever that part of the life is. And you have that in your pocket the entire time, then you can still act and do what you did in spite of it. And it and it like takes the sting away. Like how can you how do you revert back to that being a place of authority? You know, if you've also you become a different kind of spokesperson. Yeah, it's a different kind of evangelizing where I can talk to people on issues that a lot of Christians can't because they were bitten there.
Yeah, so like I mean a guy who is drunk in the church always known Jesus. There's a great life. He can't go and talk to the crazy guy who's doing cocaine at the rainbow every night. Right. Because that guy's gonna like, you don't understand anything wrong. We have no relation point at all in a conversation. Right. Like you don't understand me. I don't understand you. We got nothing to connect on. I can't even talk to that guy. Well, here's one that's kind of loosely in this train of thought. I want to throw it at the audience. Here's harder than the hard stuff. Danny Worson out, y'all. Coaching and alcohol. One knows I've tried it all. I've told the line of time to walk the way. I have my share of wilder times. I've lost some days to be late night. I've always seen the time it all out.
Mother's side is all the same. I'm ready to be the best I've ever seen. I've never been to a house he plays. He's breaking me in brand new ways. I'm all strong and I don't have any no-leaf. Never have time walking away. But Danny gotta hold on me. I'm trying to end it in your memory.
You raised me around that deal And I'll draw that foul and can't compare There's a sense of this empty place It's breaking me in one way I'm all strong and I let it lonely Never had a heart I wanted away But then you got along me And try and find it in your memory No one ever knew the way you would be So much harder than I thought There's a sense of this empty place
It's breaking me in one way I'm all strong and I let it lonely Never had a heart I wanted away But then you got along me And try and find it in your memory No one ever knew the way you would be No one ever knew the way you would be So much harder than I thought There's a sense of this empty place So much of this empty place It's breaking me in one way And when you will be
So much harder than I thought Man, that one lands Well, at some point I think we want to have you do a couple live songs But I'm going to bud in and kick a segment here I think we're going to push the songs up to the next segment Because I didn't want to cut this conversation off it It seemed like it was going so well I didn't want to step on it So we only have a few seconds left of this segment So for now I think first off We sure appreciate you spending the time out here with us Coming into the studio and talking to folks And now that we've got the super secret guest out And we're going to have him come back And maybe do a couple live songs if he's filling up to it And so you're listening to the walls are talking And we will be right back And you're listening You're listening Are you tired of struggling with low energy? I don't know idea I know idea I'm just follow I'm following the directions now I'm a I'm trusting I'm trusting him and just he's following You know I ask him all the time Just just keep a light on the next step And I'm just take that one And I will see where we go Yeah, I don't know I mean I'm Non-stop busy I have I have a tequila company It says in order to kill it That eats up a lot of my time I have a one podcast out called Unfinished Where we talk about the realities of Being a Christian out in the world And another one called idiots that's about to launch And then that's got to be a good one It's so much fun And then I've recorded this new album Four times now and now we're adding even more songs So that's never going to come out Is that what I heard little clips of Yeah, I will have I've released So that these last two At least last two singles are both from that album
And I'm just starting to just put out a song a month now Yeah You guys know how this industry works And it's a lot of hurry up and wait Yes And I feel like I've been waiting a long time And I write a lot So in my head I'm like already about to finish the next album So I'm just I'm just going to start Be like hey we'll just put a music out Put a music out And when when the right team comes in place to do Full album called Dolby a full albums of music there And I'm just for myself and for fans I just I don't want to send away anymore So I feel like that's a constant flow of songs I feel like that's kind of Becoming a little bit of the model nowadays too Just singles during Yeah just constant releases it's wild Yeah which is weird for me Because I grew up with albums And albums are so special to me And that's like a part of it But there's the upside to the singles world Which is like An album is a collection of work And everything has to lift again There's a lot of good songs that die Because they don't fit on an album And I'll just get to put those out as singles Which I love Are you doing a lot of like self-produced stuff now And this new in the new side of things
Because with the with the old rock band I suspect y'all probably had producers That you sort of had on tap And that's kind of the method when you went in right Yep I self-produced almost everything now I have my very very very different Jim Kaufman Who co-produces some of it Oh yeah man Yeah a lot of it is a A lot of it's just me I have my studio at home and I just I just sit and write and record everything And just let me know the little bubbles Well it's fun getting to like So we're sitting here in a studio We don't have the camera side of the show set up yet So as of now we're just audio But for those that can't see it We're sitting around all this really cool gear And it's funny getting to listen to Danny come in And point some of this stuff out Because you're like a legit gear Kind of I've been techie you know I went to college for musical recording And I was not along I had a terrible intense writing I dropped out They tell me it was the biggest mistake I was like pretty sure you don't need to agree to be a musician Right And I was right I'm a studio obsessed person
So anytime I'm in one I'm happy Well it's funny because with me like we've gotten Again the way the industry set up now We've kind of gotten used to doing our own home demos and stuff But I suck at it Like for me I can throw a mic on a laptop And I'll get something out of it But it's not It's not something you give to the world But in your side I feel like You've probably delve deep enough into that You can sit right in your own house And put stuff out to the world from there That's like Kind of be kind of a cool perk When I come into town now and do rights It's a little different obviously Because I'm not in my studio When I lived here And when I am home I don't make demos Oh I don't make demos I record a final version You just go for it Yeah I write in front of a microphone And usually The vocal you hear on the recording Is like the second or third take of me Ever singing it That's right Some of it is like the first time I've ever sang those words And it's because I'm like just singing in I record as I'm writing So I'll just keep going over the same bit
Until the line comes and I'll just sing a line And like I mean I have some Full songs out from asking Where I'll take it 80% of it's just improv freestyle That's awesome Yeah, and I think there's such beauty in it Because there's always magic in those first couple of times You sing it Because you're in it That's the other reason I don't make demos You have to get back into Where you were emotionally and mentally While you're right in the song And sometimes that's hard to do Because you've processed it by then Whereas if you're doing it live As you're doing the song And you're recording right then You're in it Right And he is just the best but the best performance So I'm very fortunate to have that And know how to So I just record finals as I'm writing That's awesome Well man, I feel like if we're going to keep bringing up all this music And talk about the new stuff you got coming Maybe we could put you on the spot for one What do you think? You found the segue I did I worked it right in there It's almost like I've done this before Now we're going to do magic Because it's going to cut to the song But what actually going to stay sat here And record the next bit And then I'm going to play the song You're just letting all of our secretive
Show them all the sausages made That's amazing Well I'll tell you what is this So what's this first one you want to do? It's called I tried to write a sad song And I had this chord progression For very, very long time And I must have written this song about 100 different ways And I was pacing around my kitchen Playing it again And I started seeing something new And the better half of me Yield over the back of the couch Make it sadder And we started talking about My divorce Which was the source of a lot of my Sad bummy bluesy songs And I was like I want to see how I can remember most of it And as we talked through that conversation For good like hour By the end I was like That's really sad Something that was so important in your life And was such a big part of it And you look back And I was like I didn't remember it anymore And I was like There's the sad song Because my whole thing was like I don't have any sad I'm not sad about anything anymore Like it's pretty great right now Right I don't have any Source material for a bummer
That's a good problem But then And that I was like That's kind of depressing It kind of is It's like those things that were like I I bet on it All in And it means That I gotta remember it now That's kind of sad Well I tell you what man He uh since he let the cat out of the bag And told you how the sausage is made We're gonna do the big fake cut To the song right now What do you think Let it Here we go I I tried a lot of sad songs But this ring years I don't feel that way no more I love to say that I hate you But tell us truth
I don't remember enough to Used to stare your eyes I ain't sure what she Used to love the way that you Say my name Now I don't know if I know You were on the phone Cuz I don't remember your birthday I don't remember your name I know the time was wasted But I don't remember much from Before I walked away And I remember the way you felt
The start and at the end And I'm thankful for the lesson learned So I don't feel that way Yeah I don't remember your birthday I don't remember your name I know the time was wasted But I don't remember much from Before I walked away
Wow what a good job I did That was a really sad song I almost had a breath running back in here so quick This is us this is our fake return back after the after the not the non-listen That what it was I'm back in here so fast back to my seat Seamless but it's amazing so so actually back to the how the solstice is made you did give us a little preview though I did I played the song Yes we have context Yeah, so we actually do get that come and talk about this song again So with some real context but uh So so what stood out to me is the the big jump from the rock scene To what feels very Is it wrong to call it like Almost so kind of like yeah I grew up on the lot on a lot of blues my grandfather was a blues fanatic He told everyone he was a blues singer which the translation of his he went to men for every year And he'd come and go yeah the bands would bring me up and like they They didn't want me they wanted me to get up on stage and sing and then we're like Gary you're enormous in terrifying
I don't think that was a talent a talent-based Situation I think maybe they would terrify to ask you to leave that's amazing I'm sorry So is this kind of uh Do you feel like that's the vein you're going for or you've been a little more eclectic or you kind of all over the map now you tell me just I'm just writing well I'm just doing whatever feels right I'm a firm believer in that I've never written a song in my life and that I'm just fine in the one that's God brings to me um So I'm just doing as I'm told but uh Yeah, it's it's I mean it all stems from You know whatever our influences have been throughout our lives So there's probably some rock like a bunch of rock in there that people can pick out Yeah, your voice. I mean you still have those rock Yeah, like the rasp to your voice and stuff um Be it's a lot of blues there's this Country in there because I mean I grew up a more country than I realized I didn't have a name for it when I was younger because it was it wasn't like uh It wasn't a genre we particularly Had in England all that we did but we didn't call it country and we didn't get all of it obviously
um back in the early 90s but um That's definitely in there and it's It's a mixture of bunch of stuff. It's just Well, man, I gotta say like I don't want to sound like I'm kissing but or anything But I think I really like this direction for you of course But now I mean I'm coming up from a country world in a soul world So like now now you're scratching my itch, you know, it's almost like you I guess you know the the whole identity you've got on the other side of this thing you get the same To the same extent you're pissing people off on the other side You're getting folks kind of excited on this side of it. It seems like I think people in this side away nicer some Yeah, I think I said like black crow's meets Chris Stapleton love that I have used those exact same You're welcome I think I've also done um I think I've also uh told people is like edda James linard skinnered Okay, that's funny dude. I like that It's a nice uh Little pairing right there edda James and skinnered come on You're not a James could be Ken for sure, you know, yeah for sure. I mean you look a lot
like with yeah for sure Same dad's or something Man I feel like I'm jumping straight to the next one But I'm like all excited about this new music you're working on so maybe maybe we can do a big fake cut to the next one And just get right to it. What do you think? Yeah, I'll teleport in there right now. I love it man Let's uh, so this is a new and Danny Worsnop Actually, we should get the name of this one until the end of time until the end of time Danny Worsnop Man, this is uh this is good stuff. I'm looking forward to this Cool I've been fighting off some demons Sorry that I ain't been around the world Been cutting ties and burning bridges down Trying to find my way back to life
I hope you're doing better The hard I'll hurt you love real nice. That's where I'm gonna make it right Just close your eyes and kiss me like I never left you in the door Tell me that you love me till you feel it in your heart I'm just a man to know what this one is told you could probably find I love you till you end all time If you'll be mine I ain't too proud of all my actions Never been too good at going slow Got a lot of walls that need to come down Maybe all those bricks explain the holes I will wait here for forever to say the word now get together Right even if it takes my whole damn life Just close your eyes and kiss me like I never left you in the door
Tell me that you love me till you feel it in your heart I'm just a man to know what this one is told you could probably find I love you till you end all time If you'll be mine Get yourself Just close your eyes and kiss me like I never left you in the door Tell me that you love me till you feel it in your heart I'm just a man to know what this one is told you could probably find I love you till you end all time This goes your eyes and kiss me like I never left you in the door Tell me that you love me till you feel it in your heart I'm just a man to know what this one is told you could probably find I love you till you end all time If you'll be mine
All right back with the big fake super teleporting right there Yeah I do like that song though because I did hear it I do like that We actually got to hear both of these in the background So we actually I think burn most of our time and this conversation went so easy I've had a heck of a little fun run with this today I've enjoyed this um sure appreciate you coming out and spending some time with us today So uh for those who figured out the big secret guess We got Danny Worsenop last time out of here and uh got some songs coming up for you guys and uh The walls are talking and y'all are listening man.
