We get to check in with Dave Roberts. The manager's meeting presented by Downey Hyundai. Dave, thanks a lot for the time and certainly good to talk to you after a much-needed win last night. Last night was good. You know, Teos has been grinding as we all know and the last couple, that series actually, he's sung the bet really well and he came with that big hit that we needed. So hopefully, you know, that'll free some guys up and, you know, we can build on the momentum from last night. Teos seems to be one of those guys that if you get him thinking too much about the mechanics, the strike zone, it doesn't seem like it works as much as him playing with joy. And it feels like the last week he's played with a lot of joy. Yeah, it's funny. I was with the guy today at lunch and we were talking about Teos' head and, you know, joy is the word that came up.

3:06You know, he's an energy giver. He's a great teammate, the sun flare seeds. And as he scuffles, that joy sort of gets sucked out of him. And to your point of just kind of seaball hitball got there and compete, you know, things have fallen and lined up for him. And when he's producing and performing, that joy you felt in the clubhouse or in the dugout last night. No, we haven't talked about this before either. But is it fair to say you don't get this all-star version of Andy Pahez without Teoska Hernandez being there with him the last couple of years? Without a doubt, without a doubt. You know, in baseball, we have teammates in life and in business, they have mentors. With Teo and Andy, it's a family situation. It's a big brother, little brother. And, you know, they go to lunch together, they write a bus together.

4:06They talk together, they each other's lockers. And I do think that Andy having Teo around to kind of show him the ropes, love on them, support them, challenge them at times, has certainly, you know, led to Andy being a first-time all-star. You get a Vandy Pahez, you're hitting Coach Andy Aaron Bates told me the other day that Andy's going around telling you guys that he's paying free and he may be swinging a bat soon. I guess that's encouraging. Yeah, that is encouraging. All bones still take four weeks, six weeks to heal or whatever. But I was giving him some grief yesterday about getting his spikes on swinging a bat, getting in there. He said only one more week, but the trainer gave me the matumbo and said that is not true. So it is going to be sooner than I think people expect. Maybe not as soon as Andy expects, but you can see, I mean, not having his bat in there. It affects our club. 5:08And today, for the second straight game, you don't have Shohei O'Connor in the starting lineup. Where is this headed? You know, you might be getting tired of answering O'Connor's questions, but he's a big PCer lineup and where is this going? Yeah, I absolutely get the questions. I think right now, I think the easy answer is this day to day. I do know that once we hit the three days of inactivity, there are days that you can't get back as far as back dating. So we'll have to make a decision on that fourth day, but right now, yeah, yesterday down, today down. Again, I haven't seen him today. So we'll see how tomorrow goes. But yeah, that's it's more of a reading-reacting. But yeah, I mean, I hope to avoid the I.O. But if that's what's best for Shohei, that's what we're going to do. Tommy Edmond certainly has done a nice job filling in wherever you need him. When it comes to O'Connor, I know you have the best relationship with him.

6:11But even at that level, how honest do you think you can get the feedback from him about how his right side is feeling? Yeah, you know, I think that, and I think that you mentioned at the other day in the scrum about my dealings with Clayton and great players that, you know, even when they're not 100%, they want to be the guy they want to go out there. And then sometimes they might not disclose how hurt they are. Shohei is certainly in that bucket. I can tell, you know, when he gets more irritable for Shohei, then he's not feeling well. I do have a good relationship with him. Yeah, and I do think that we've kind of taken his thoughts and opinions and kind of mixed with the training stuff and medical and coaches as well. But, you know, this is a time right now. We just have no margin as we sit here in September to potentially compromise the post season. So again, whatever we can do in the short term to get him ready for October is what we're going to do.

7:14And another player that looks at you as a father figure is the guy starting tonight Blake Snell, Snell Zilla on a Friday. I mean, it seems like you're the one guy and he seems to be, he reminds me of Shakyel O'Neill in the respect where he has so much respect for authority. And that's kind of a military background type of thing. I know his dad was not in the military, but it reminds me of that. Is that the relationship you feel? I mean, he really does respect your authority. Well, it's good to hear. And I think that is true. I think what Blake, like most players, want to hear is honesty. And I think that, you know, we've had some tough conversations as far as in the last couple of years about, you know, what he expects from himself, what I expect, what the team expects and challenge him. I think he likes to be challenged, but knowing all the while that we're here, I'm here to support him. So I think that we are as close as you can get. And like I said, when he first came back, he's on a mission.

8:21And I've had him for two years, but this look that he's got right now is as good as I've seen. Do you love when you challenge a player that he responds and reminds you that he answered that challenge? Yeah, I do. I do because I think, you know, when you're trying to win 11 games in October, you know, all players are going to say they want to be challenged. They want to be, you know, spoken to and be in honestly, right? But the ones that say that and you challenge him and they don't respond back with performance, then you know what you got. And so fortunately for me, we got a lot of players that answer the bell when they are challenged. So before I go, obvious question, Freddie Freeman, not in the starting lineup, just one of those, hey, Freddie, you got to sit down for a day. Yeah, so I'm giving him a day. If you talk to Freddie, he's saying he's getting benched. You know, we lean on Freddie so much and long road trip off day. And then just I just saw last night he was gassed. And so before his tank is completely empty, I just thought it'd be smart to give him tonight off.

9:24Hey, that's why he's the manager. That's why he's won three world series with the Dodgers. Thanks a lot for the time.
