Carolina Panthers fans might get excited about a homecoming for wide receiver Debo Samuel.

The South Carolina native and former University of South Carolina star has been pegged as a top

free agent fit for the team by NFL analyst Nick Schuch.

At 30 years old, the former pro-boulder could give quarterback Bryce Young a reliable target

to boost the offense.

But points out the Panthers receiving group has promised with players like Xavier Leggett

and Tedaroa McMillan, plus recent addition John Mechey, the third.

But the unit has been inconsistent, sometimes explosive, and other times flat.

Samuel's rugged style in the slot could add toughness and another weapon without breaking

the bank too much.

Samuel grew up in M.M. in South Carolina and was a second round draft picked by the San

Francisco 49ers in 2019.

For six seasons there, he racked up nearly 4,800 receiving yards, more than 1,100 rushing

yards, and 40, two total touchdowns, and 81 games.

Last year, he switched to the Washington Commanders, where he caught 72 passes for 727 yards

in five scores.

That performance shows he still has plenty left in the tank, even if his peak might be

passed.

Cast for Carolina is Samuel's projected price tag of about $15 million a year.

Their cap space is tight after a surprisingly good 2025 season, but analysts say creative

moves could make it happen if the front office sees the perfect match.
